You have that option, if you want more than the default
choices
supported by Flash CS3 -- but no, you don't have to download
an FLV
converter. To convert your MPG to FLV, you can either use the
Flash CS3
Video Encoder (ships with Flash) or Flash CS3 itself. Just
import the MPG
file and run through the various configurations to output an
FLV file.
Flash CS3 gives you single-pass encoding, which might meet
your needs
just fine. If you want two-pass encoding, you'll have to look
into a 3rd
party tool, such as On2's Flix Pro or Sorenson's Squeeze.
(They also give
you additional parameters to tweak, because they're
specifically video
conversion apps.)

  • FLV Conversion in Adobe Media Converter substandard

I have just purchased the entire CS4 suite and have noticed some severe limitations to
the so called "media conversion" software that comes with the suite.
I have a 2400x600 mov file that needs to be converted to FLV for a Flash presentation.
However, this piece of software has a maximum resolution of 1920x600 in this
    situation.
As this is 2009, this is totally unacceptable, and even when upgrading to the latest
updated the flv conversions are still limited to 1920x600.
(Interestingly enough Flash Mx2004 can do a 2400x600 transconvert)

Please tell us more about the source content. Are they from your own project? Did you rip them from a DVD?
Are you importing the DVD videos directly into AME, or are they in Premiere sequences that you're exporting to AME? If the former, have you tried opening the clips in PPRO to see whether that app sees their full length? If the latter, do you have a work area defined?
Also, what version of AME do you have, and are you working on Windows or Mac?

  • MPG to FLV prob using Flash video encoder

I've been using the flash video encoder to convert videos to
    FLV to put on websites.
Today I converted a MPG file to FLV.
The original MPG video worked fine, the FLV file played sound
    but no picture....any ideas ?

    Hi,
I have this problem too - I have converted wma files and mpg4 to flv. The encoder does not error but when I play the FLV there is audio but no picture. I am using Windows XP. Is there a solution to this issue?

  • QT Pro 7 - trying to export .mpg to .flv - "export audio" option grayed out

I've opened an .mpg video in Quicktime Pro 7 and am trying to export it to Flash video. It exports successfully, but the audio (present in the original .mpg) is missing in the exported .flv file.
Investigating, when I try to export, I've clicked "options", went to the "audio" tab and found that the checkbox for "encode audio" is grayed out and unchecked. The format listed in this grayed-out window is MPEG layer III (MP3) - which I think isn't correct; this video I'm exporting is an MPEG version 1 file, with layer 2 audio.
Help! What can I do to sucessfully export video with audio?

QuickTime has never supported audio export from muxed file formats.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg to other QuickTime formats (it doesn't export to .flv) and then export that new file to Flash.

  • FLV Conversion Process

Here's the "non-issue" first. We shot video with green screen, keyed out the green. Than my objective was to make a quicktime file from Final Cut Pro with the alpha channel, and then using flash encoder 8, turn it into an FLV file, with the alpha channel still present. This all worked perfectly, I exported it with quicktime conversion, animation codec, million+. And in FE8 i chose high quality, and the alpha channel button. The problem that we're having, is within the settings of the flash encoder 8, there is a video window on the top right, it allows you to scroll through and see your movie, only problem is that when we scroll through, nothing happens, it just stays on the first frame of the movie. We need to be able to scroll through and see the movie progressing. If there is anyone that can help me, please, i can not figure our any other export options to resolve this problem.

You might try the adobe forums (there is probably even one for flash).

  • Why does flv conversion muddy the quality?

    Hi,
I am converting a regular movie from Windows moviemaker wmv export (exported at highest quality)
and converting it with Xilisoft flv converter (at highest quality upon conversion) and I noticed the
output quality of the final FLV is degradated a little. Some of the symptoms are: lower light, slight pixelation,
and loss of crisp detail. Audio sounds great but why does the picture lose it's clarity from how it looks in
moviemaker? I can see the crispness of the outlines in the video in Moviemaker, but in the final flv, it loses
that. Is there anything I can do to make it keep it's original crisp look like how it looks in MM, or do you have
to expect a loss of quality when using flvs?

    I see.
Well, I looked in Moviemaker's output options and I don't see an 'avi' tag at the end of any of
the choices they have. Is it possibly referred to something else maybe too? There's like a
kazillion options to choose from in there too but none say avi in them. Do you or anyone
else know (any Moviemaker gurus) what the .avi export is termed as?

  • Is auto flv conversion available

Can I use Acrobat XI to convert an HTML page that contains a flash (.flv) movie to PDF and have it automatically include the flash movie, or must that be added after the initial conversion?

Using Dreamweaver CS6 to make a minimal HTML page with one line of text and a .flv movie. The movie was embedded in the page using the automatic functionality of Dreamweaver. Then used Acrobat Pro XI to convert the HTML page to PDF with "Embed multimedia content when possible" selected. The .flv file does not get placed in the PDF page; there is nothing present where it should be.
I conclude that "when possible" does not apply in this case, unless there are settings needed on the html page that are missing (although the page works fine on a browser), or additional settings needed in the conversion process. Perhaps something other than .flv coded movie is needed?

  • Convert MPG to FLV produces no Audio (k)

I've run into this before and know there is a solution, but can't seem to find it. I have an .mpg movie that I need to convert to .flv. When I do, the video is fine, but there is not audio.
How can I get the audio in my movie?
    -Kirk

Accully demuxing a mpeg-2 file has it's benefits. (Small file size)
After you demux the mpeg-2 file you simply open the video in Quicktime to make your FLV.
If you convert straight to the Animation codec from Mpeg-Streamclip your video with grow in file size. Plus you add another compression onto your video.
    Original Mpeg-2 Video
    206 MB
    Time: 4:17
    854x480
    Demux Video
    183 MB
Took less than a minute to demux...
    Using Animation Codec
    7.25 GB
Took about 30 minutes to compress on my G-4.
Use which ever method you like....

  • FLV conversion problem with media encoder

I am using the CS5 media encoder to convert mp3 movies to flv for a site. The encoder is bringing the video over fine but not the audio. Can anyone help?

  • DV to FLV Conversion Curiosity

    So here is a curiosity.
I have a DV footage I filmed and then captured using Premiere Elements 8.  The footage looks good for what it is, a recording of an instructor's lecture.
The strange part comes when its time to 'Share' from Premiere.  When sharing my movie clips I get a serious amount of degradation at all levels of compression.  I've found one compression setting which appears to be almost a magic bullet; its not perfect but its close.
    My output target is:
    460x380
    346 kbps
    Using On2 Vp6
The weird thing is how terrible the output looks.
Conversely if I take the same footage and run it through Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder, and make the same adjustments and encode here it looks pratically stellar, using all the same compression settings.  The main remaining issue if I were to just use encoder is the audio, which I can't edit with encoder.  I know its possible to use the audio editing capabilities of Premiere, render out a new .Avi, then encode it; but with all the control afforded by Premiere this shouldn't be necessary.
If anyone has a suggestion as to how I can take care of this, or perhaps what I might be doing wrong, I'm all electronic ears!
    Thanks
    Ajax

The dimension of the file isn't all that big, but as you said Encoder and Premiere should be using the same programming to carry out the same conversion.
The problem is that with identical output settings and source footage I get drastically different output.  There maybe another program setting in Premiere I have set wrong or a mistake I've made.  But the output of both programs when set the same SHOULD look the same. They don't.
Besides, reducing the dimensions of the footage should increase the relative resolution not decrease it.  I'm not expecting everything to carry over, but there's a pretty big gap between what Encoder outputs and what Premiere outputs, and the disparity is the problem.

  • QT to FLV conversion

A neophtye here.  But at least this newbie knows where to go to get help!   I'm new to Dreamweaver.  Came over from the GoLive crowd.   Got it figured out and am about to throw my first site online.  But... want to be able to convert my QT and WMV movies to FLV myself.  I purchased CS4 Design Premium.  It contains Flash PRO.   Assumed that would allow me to convert QT and WMV to FLV.  But... no luck.   Did I purchase the wrong suite?  And, if so, does anyone know a way I can convert those files.  I tried ISky software but it seemed very inconsistent!   I'm using a new "loaded" MacBookPro for the task.   Just need to get those files converted.  Help... anyone.  And thanks in advance.
    Sallee

Flash CS4 will do that for you.
    1. Open Flash CS4, select new AS2 or AS3 file, your choice.
    2. Open File... Import... and select the first .mov or .wmv file.
    3. Flash will open the Import Video window.
    4. Select Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline
    5. Click the Launch Adobe Media Encoder button
    6. Follow the instructions and select the options as you like
    Repeat as needed
Or, the Media Encoder will do that for you.
    1. Launch the Adobe Media Encoder CS4.app
    2. Drag the .mov and .wmv files into the window
    3. Set the options as you need

If it is a MPEG-2 file, you can burn a DVD without reconverting the file by using Toast <http://www.roxio.com> or Sizzle (free)
