Mplayer does not open in XMonad from file manager

I am not able to open a video file in xmonad by double clicking on it in nautilus. Other video players such as vlc do open. Opening a video file with mplayer in pcmanfm works but not in thunar. All of the just mentioned methods do work in Gnome. Any ideas how to fix this?

oh, my bad, didnt read it properly.
make a custom command something like "terminal -e mplayer %F" or something, which should open up a terminal and do it, that way you can see error reports.

Illustrator CC(2014) does not open or create new file in Window 8.1 Pro

My illustrator can launch but once I tried to create a new file it would freeze and will not respond anymore.
I also tried to open existing illustrator files it just create a blank white illustrator window and does not respond afterwards as well.
I tried to reinstall the illustrator for times to fix to issue but it doesnt work.
All the other applications (photoshop/indesign...) work perfectly, but obviously there is a bug in illustrator...

Did you uninstall then used the Cleaner tool before reinstalling?
Is a printer connected? Is the driver up to date? Printer turned on?
Do you have any third party plugins installed?
A graphic tablet?
Any other hardware?
Font management? Which one?
Have you already tried setting up a new user account (Admin) and launching from that one?

Latest version does not work with godaddy ftp file manager

Godaddy has a facility call FTP file manager which is easy to use for the small file uploads via your browser. It is very conveinent and worked in exactly the same way on old versions of firefox as it does on IE.
Now using the latest Firefox it does not.It presents a different screen without the ability to overwrite an existing file.

OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 only supports WebLogic 10.3.5 and 10.3.6.

Pages 5.2 does not open Pages 2.0 files

Just started using Pages in the last several months. The version of pages I had/have is 2.02. I created several documents and saved them with this version. Yesterday I down loaded Pages 5.2. This version indicates that the files I just created last week are too old. From the support community I see that this is an issue between the Pages versions. Is there a workaround? I tried saving the 2.02 file in Word 05 (that was the default offered) onto the desktop and tried to open it with Pages 5.2 but that did not work. Any other thoughts? Also the older programs were in a folder called iWork. Any benifit to moving the new Pages and sister programs into this same folder?

You can't just change the file extension.
You have to Export the file to Word .doc.
It has been a long time since iWork '05 so I can't remember exactly where the Export option is in Pages '05, probably under the Window or File menus. Maybe even in Save As… down the bottom.

Adobe reader does not open usage right enabled files in Ubntu 8.0.4

I have a series of pdf files with the usage right enabled in adobe acrobat.
When I try to open them in linux Ubuntu 8.0.4 the adobe windows flashes for a second and the disappears. I tried to run the command in a terminal but it doesn't give me any error or warning message. I am just wondering if any one else has been able to resolve this issue.

We have tried using the file you sent on multiple linux distributions with Linux Reader 8.1.2 but we're not able to replicate the issue you're facing. We've tried on Ubuntu 8.04 as well and haven't seen any issues.
Could you share more information, includign the version of the reader youre' trying to use (you can see that at Help > About Adobe Reader).

IMovie 10.0.8 does not open older iMovie .rcproject files

I have tried to "Update Projects and Events" and also tried to "Import Media", but remain unable to open projects in iMovie 10.0.8 with file extension .rcproject that were created with iMovie 9.0 and identified as "iMovie Project" files in the Finder. They are dimmed whenever I try to use iMovie 10.0.8 to open them.
In the process of trying to move back to iMovie 9.0, I can open iMovie 9.0 and while the projects appear on the list of Projects, they are not apparently incomplete and "Source clip is missing" message appears where the viewing screen should show the video. They will not play in 9.0, and therefore no editing is possible.
Did I read that once "converted" to iMovie 10.0.8 that files would no longer be recognizable by the older iMovie?
I have numerous projects created with iMovie 9 that seem to be somewhere in limbo:

I have moved the Event and Project Folders to the "top-layer of the drive" as the instructions state, right alongside the System Folder, Users Folder and Applications Folders.
When I open iMovie 10.0.8, the Events and Projects Folders are empty:
When I select File/Update Projects and Events, I get an alert box that says iMovie couldn't find any:
Not knowing exactly what is meant by the "top layer" in the instructions, I moved the Events and Project folders back inside the "Movies" folder where I found them (but then not where I would call the "top" layer, but rather "iMac/Users/Home/Movies/iMovieProjects". Then I tried to "Update Projects and Events" and received the same alert: "iMovie could not find any projects or events to update."
Then I tried to update iMovie 9.0 (iMovie '11 version 9.0 (1073)) to version 9.0.9 .
[As an aside, the nomenclature of iMovie drives me nuts. The latest version is 10.0.8, which us newer than iMovie '11.]
Back to the update of version 9.0 to 9.0.9.
Presumably because I have version 10.0.8 installed, I got this alert box:

PSE does not open the editor from LR 4.4.......a big problem for a lot of people.

I have PSE 12 and LR 4.4 on iMac 10.9.5. My LR preference is set to PSE Editor and was done so by LR, I cannot change it. When I try to edit in PSE, an 8 bit Tiff is created then I get the error message that "there was a problem.......". In the details is this line:

I do not understand this, but the problems seems related to the Library, which, I don't know. I had PSE 12.1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled PSE 12.0 (I can no longer update back to 12.1). It made no difference, same error message.

BTW, I tried moving the Editor app from the support file into the app folder per fixes on this issue in the past.

Middle mouse button in FF 4.0, Linux, does not open new url from clipboard

In new version FF 4.0 on Linux, middle mouse button doesn't open url (which is copy from clipboard in Linux style) without http:// prefix. It open url in format "http://www.mozilla.com" but doesn't open "www.mozilla.com". It works properly in previous versions FF.

And, wouldn't you know it, an hour after posting I found the simple solution...
Someone suggested that the Logitech RX300 mouse had a problem with mapping the middle (wheel) mouse button - try another one.
I tried 4 various mice - they all worked. The Logitech RX30x mice needs some adjustments.

Restore Manager does not open bakcup.1.exe file

I used f11 backup feature to backup my personal files prior to a system restore operation on Pavilion dv6636nr w/Vista.
Backup created two files on USB drive (Backup.1.exe 2.4 MB and Backup2.FBW - 43 GB) after running for ~20 hrs.
System restore seems to have been accomplished with pr0per functionality.
Per instructions on http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01673043&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3370282&tmp... copied MINWINPC folder (with files above) to local hard disk. After double clicking on Backup.1.exe and answering question to allow the User Account window and waiting +1 hour nothing happens.
Have repeatedly "cleaned" registry via several software packages and have tried changing files names to Backup.001.exe & Backup.002.fbw but same results.
Any ideas about how to access the files in bakup?

I have seen posters report that the file extraction/ transfer can take several to many hours to complete.Check for the folder C:\System Recovery Files .Delete it before attempting the transfer again.

Photoshop CC does not open a RAW NEF file with Camera Raw 8.5. Also, my Help Update gives me an old version.

I've tried updating the plug-in using PS Help CC but it updates with an old version. I downloaded 8.5 and did a manual install but Photoshop doesn't recognize it and the plug-in "cannot be found." I can see the plug-in on the HD drive where it was supposed to go. What am I missing here?

HFM App does not open after saving journals in managed server

Hi All
I have a HFM application on 11.1.2.3.500 version . We have ONLY native users and groups, when a user logs into HFM application we can open the app intermittently. If we follow below sequence
1. Open the application
2. Go to Manage Journals
3. Add journals
4. Modify members
5. Save it
Now it all happens fine here. After this I log out and then login , all I can see is Application loading screen. It stays like this forever.
It is happening to ALL users except for admin account.
We have applied 11.1.2.3.502 patch in the month of Dec.
I am suspecting it is something to do with cache but not sure which cache parameter should I look at DB , HFM ?

2. Did you cleared tmp files and restarted services post patching.??
D:\Hyperion\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers, in all folders delete tmp folders files.

Adobe Captivate 8 trial: does not open and asks for Application Manager

Whenever I try to open Captivate 8, it shuts down and shows this message:
However, I installed Application Manager and I still get this message.

Lightroom does not open photoshop using "Edit in adobe photoshop CC-" command.

I updated lightroom and photoshop using the CC desktop. (LR V5.3 x64, PS V14.6.2 x64) This broke the “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command.
Based on advice from this forum, I unistalled both programs completely and reinstalled them. The
“Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command is still broken.
Is there a way to fix this? I use this feature frequently.

The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)
