• MPLS PE IOS for 6500?

I apologize as this is kind of a "Out There" request. I'm setting up my first "service provider" type MPLS network consisting of several 6500s and ASRs. I've been looking around for a while now for a good IOS to load on the 6500s that will support a PE role (with 20-25 CEs on each initially and scale from there).
As I am a bit new to this design selection - does anyone have a recommendation of a good IOS to look at (Sup 720s w/ MSFC 3s)? It would be great if the IOS showed support for FWSMs as there are a few in the mix that need to be used.
Any help would be appreciated. My mind spins a little when looking at several "similar" IOS versions that appear to have differing features.
Jim

Hello GP,
I agree we use
s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF14.bin
with PE role and FWSM blade supported
Hope to help

• Iphone 5 crashed after iOS 7.1.1 upgrade

Got connect to iTunes picture after restart. Did the restore with iTunes and all my data is gone. I do not see even the apps other than basic iOS apps. How to proceed?
Thanks for ur help

Similar problem here. The camera can focus on macro but nothing else. The camera is almost useless now. I made an appointment with Apple, brought my phone in and they said they can't do anything about the camera. They said I'd have to get a new phone. That's rediculous!!

• Still no support for iOS devices or non-Safari browsers

Been a while now and still the new format doesn't support iOS devices - no formatting bar or ability to edit post. Still, alternative browsers, e.g. iCab and Atomic, have different issues like format bar does appear but keyboard doesn't.
Should we be expecting an update sometime soon?

I cant find it now, but i saw a post by an apple corp poster saying that this was done purposefully to ensure a "solid" release, or something like that. Basically, iOS devices arent considered a significant user base to be worried about giving VERY limited functionality to.
They basically said that it would be developed into future updates, but with no timelines. Sounded to me like it would be a VERY long time before we get anything above basic text editor abilities. No wait a second, basic text editors can do BOLD! We cant even do that.

Hi
This is my first MPLS lab, I just start learning mpls basic from yesterday, All routers have fully ip reachability and ospf is activated on all routers, now my doubt is if Router 1 want to reach Router 5 loopback interface it should go via R4-->R5. but it has two entry for the route 192.168.5.0. please kindly provide me the information why it has wrong entry about 5.0 route.

Hello,
the show mpls ldp binding shows the label to IP prefixes advertisement of every LDP neighbor either upstream (nearest to the prefix) either downstream (more far from the prefix).
The binding via R6 so is a correct binding but it is not used by local node R1 to reach 192.168.0.5/32.
As the sh ip cef shows there is actually a single best path to the destination that is in the direction of R5.
R1#sh ip cef 192.168.0.5 255.255.255.255
192.168.0.5/32, version 25, epoch 0, cached adjacency 192.168.14.4

So you don't need to care about the additional entries in show mpls ldp binding.

• Create iOS app using edge animate and DPS

I was investigating the potential for using edge animate compositions and digital publishing suite to create single edition iOS apps.
After some trial and error I have been able to create a basic iOS app for kids, using EA and DPS. The app was approved and placed in the app store. See the below link:
https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=786031451&mt=8
For future reference do you have specific documentation/guidelines on using EA compositions to create DPS single edition apps? I was hoping to get a better understanding of the potential for using html5 compositions in iOS apps (and limitations).

Hi, Andrew-
What specifically are you looking for? It's unclear if you're looking for best practices or other documentation. Thanks,
-Elaine

• Implicit null

hai experts,
just now stepped into mpls world.
i am refering the book "MPLS Fundamentals" by Luc De Ghein.
In the implicit null portion the author states that " PHP is the default mode in cisco IOS.In case of ipv4 over mpls ,cisco ios only advertise the implicit null label for directly connected routes and summarized routes."
but some of them told me that it will send implicit null for all routes it learns.
Which is true or is there any hidden meaning in connected and summarized routes???

Hi,
If the question is about IPv4 routes learned in a VRF, then implicit-null will not be used at all - neither for PE directly connected nor for summary routes. The reason is that a PE needs a VPN label to identify the VRF context, because the IP destination address alone can not do it as you might have overlapping IP addresses in different VRFs. If you have a look at the labels in a VRF (show mpls forwarding-table vrf ...) you will see "Aggregate" for VRF connected or VRF summary routes. This denotes, that the PE will use the VPN label to select the proper VRF context and then has to perform an additional IP lookup to figure out, who should get the packet. If a label is for a VRF connected network the IP packet could be for the PE or the CE sharing this network. A VPN label alone in this case will not be enough, a double lookup is needed.
So implicit-null is used for summary routes or directly connected routes in the global IP routing table of a PE.
Hope this helps!
Regards, Martin

• Why I upgraded to Dir 12?

To set the Stage.... I had been a long time Director user back with Macromedia and long before Flash but stopped using it about 2007. So why did I upgrade to Director 12? The price of the upgrade was cheap ($299) and the number of additions since MX 2004 seemed great...especially the H264 video... but most importantly and intriguing for me was the ability to port to iOS.
I had tried the free version but it took me a while to figure out provisioning for iOS so... my trial ran out....the decision had to be made. Buy or not buy.
For $299 I gambled and bought it...figuring I could figure out this provisioning thing between my day job and my obessive need to play World of War Craft.
The good news is ... I have figure out how to use _Touches, the accelerometer and gyro and have made a few prototypes, applications and presentations for use on the iPad and iPhone. The bad news is... the documentation is lacking as everyone has pointed out and there are some very basic iOS problems in this release: 3D objects still have to be w3d an old format that current 3D platforms don't export anymore, no video support, vector objects created within director don't render in IOS, Enterprise provisioning has issues ( havent gotten this to work yet ), rgb(255,255,255) doesn't key out properly on text, and VoiceSpeak doesnt work - nor do any third party xtras, transitions do not work ( frame or puppet )...and I have only been at this for about a week so i know there i alot more issues I have yet to uncover. My biggest grief is... no books...only PDFs to search. I do my biggest research when the computer is not on and thumbing threw the lingo dictionary...just wondering what a particular property or command does....then when the question arrise... I can go...oh ya..read that somewhere...I can do that.....the PDF thing for me stinks...good thing I still had my printed MX Lingo Dictonary.
But is this all bad news? I don't think so...at least I hope not. Adobe hasn't figured out what to do with Director but with Flash loosing ground and relegated now to just creating banner ads, at least in the agency I work for and Edge so far behind where we all wish it was....there is a window of opportunity for Director...but where and in what market? Adobe thinks its games and all things shockwave. If you open the IPA you will find the famous .dcr and their website promotes the fact that you can "publish games directly to iOS"...they did not mention anything else you could do with iOS.... I don't think they are thinking they want to put up a significant fight yet to handle the xtra security issues and they aren't really certain what the director community is going to do with the tools they have.
This is where Director was at version 1.0 - a collection of tools and a few people wanting to push the envelope of interactivity. Luckily for us, there are alot more now than just a few people. But if I were Adobe and I didn't know what to do with the product I would do exactly what they have done. Provide a few updates and see who is buying, deetermine my market size and see what they do with the tools they provided.
Since my main goal was to produce iOS apps, Director 12 with its problems is definately a step backwards in its functionality due to its current limitations....but what it is providing is the ability to develop quickly and easily for iOS. I can make prototypes applications faster and cheaper and get them in the hands of clients in days vs. months.
Perhaps Adobe doesn't know why I bought Director 12. Perhaps they don't know why anyone buys Director anymore and believe games are the only reason anyone does it. My fear is that Director has been on its death bed for several years and unless we ( the community ) can convince Adobe where this product can be used in the mobile space ( games or otherwise ) its future will continue to be uncertain. I believe they have given us an opportunity - its iOS and we have to once again push the limits of the features they have provided.
Well at least thats why I upgraded......why did you?

Hi Orjan Bark
We need your help as u r Director Lover.
We are working on a projetor using Flash (AS 3) and Director 11.5, and stuck at an issue of External Loding of Swf from swf link in director.
i.e. In dir file there are several swf (with AS3 code). These swf runtime load external swf file(which is in the same folder).Parent swf is usning only library asset from external; files.
The problem is that it takes too long long long time to load that swf files.
When we run swf file it works fine without any delay.(without director all goes perfect).
We had tried to solve this problem using diffternt method of AS3. But it seems that problem occur at director side,( as every time it work fine with out director).
So do you have any idea, what's wrong with director......
Thanks in advanced if u can solve this.....

• The logic of iCloud settings ??

The logic of iCloud settings ??
I don't understand how iCloud settings are organized. Can someone please explain? I indicate the confusing aspects below.
Tapping iCloud brings up a page titled ‘iCloud' and which is a mix of Apple apps and services. But it’s not clear whether these have anything to do with ’Storage’. If so, I would expect the storage used by each app or service to be indicated.
Tapping Storage brings up:
Tapping Manage Storage there brings up a mix of Apple and 3rd party apps under the heading “Documents and Data”. But the total is only 110.1 MB, only a part of the 3.3 GB supposedly used.
Tapping iCloud Drive brings up a long mix of Apple and 3rd-party apps, with no indication of storage used.
And there is duplication with the earlier lists:
Safari was also in the first list, above -- why is that?
Pages and Keynote are also in the second list above -- why??
Numbers is only below but not above.
Why are some 3rd party apps listed here and some on the prior sheet?
And why are these -- a subset of my apps -- the only ones that show in the list? Shouldn’t Apple provide an iCloud storage option for all apps as a basic iOS service?
Tapping Backup brings up:
which has no indication of how much storage Backup is using.
Finally, the names and descriptions Apple gives for iCloud, iCloud Drive, and Storage aren’t much help:
The iCloud Drive FAQ at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201104 says: "With iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, and any other kind of document in iCloud."
iCloud: What is iCloud? at https://support.apple.com/kb/PH2608?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US says: "iCloud gives you access to your music, photos, contacts, calendars, documents, and more from your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Windows computer. iCloud stores your content and automatically keeps it up to date on all your devices."
Are iCloud, iCloud Drive, and Storage all the same thing? Why different names?

> iCloud is a collection of online services …
Thanks -- that's a clearer statement than what I've seen from Apple.
But I'm still confused by the organization of the settings. For starters:
What is the purpose of the first list? Some items there are services, others are apps.
Given that 'storage' includes Backup, why is Backup not included in iOS settings for Manage Storage?
Why do certain apps appear in multiple lists:
Safari is on both the iCloud and iCloud Drive lists on iOS but only on the iCloud list in MacOS.
Pages is on Manage Storage and iCloud Drive on both iOS and MacOS.
Same for Keynote.
(Numbers is only on iCloud Drive on both iOS and MacOS.)

• Is it necessary to upgrade my standard iphone 3gs 4.1 to a higher version for a better outcome?

What i was wondering about is that do i need to update my 2yr old standard iphone 3gs ios 4.1 to a higher version
For me to get a much better performance?
It says in itunes, new versions are available to download like 4.2/4.3.3 and 4.3.5
The thing is i'm wanting to make this phone get much better performance on speed,
On loading items, downloading and power efficient compared to what i was getting
Right now with the current version ios.4.1 that i have..
Can someone please advice me what would be the best IOS format
For my iphone 3gs 4.1 to get much better performance than what i used to have..
Or do i stick to this old standard version because it best suits iphone 3gs black 16gb modem firmware 06.15.00??
Guys need help on this..

Ios 5 on 3gs? I've read on forums that many users wanting to downgrade from ios 5 to their basic ios
Specially on 3gs because it doesnt pretty much suit 3gs phone itself, some get delay or sluggish. And they say it drains so much battery power
So how can it be efficient or get new features but sluggish...
I just need the basics, you know probably surf a alittle bit faster, if possibly get a little faster IOS for opening apps, maybe a little bit speed on typing..
Most impotartly,it should not affect my battery life or maybe not much or better yet get power efficient than the old version..
My friend told me 4.3.5 works fine for 3gs, a littlebit speed
Opening app & browsing and typing speed.. But barely last 6 straight hour of usage, just surfing the net no 3g.. No notication whatsoever.. No emails too.. Just for web search, and call and tx...
Well, i'll just gonna rely on asking others about what they think is best for 3gs..
This phone is important so changing it to the new ones like the powerful 4s was never an option..
I just need this phone to just get a little bit of intelligent..
Influence me guys pls.

• Cisco Catalyst 2924 xl Series Switches

How I can restore the basic IOS on the switch. The switch have no ios. The switch prompt on Switch: not Switch# or switch>.

Hi Syed,
You have to first check if there is any image in switch or not so that you can manually boot from switch: prompt but as you said there is no image in the switch you have to go for xmodem procedure to upgrade the switch.
Have a look at this link and just follow step by step instructions and you will be good to go

• Best way to make iPhone prototype?

I have a complete UI for my iPhone app done up in Fireworks.
Before it goes to development, I'd like to create an 'animated prototype' to show off what the final product will look like. Complete with iOS style effects (moving screens, button states, etc).
My plan is to setup my UI in Flash CS5 and then use the timeline, motion tweens, and actionscript to animate it. No functionality, just strictly an animation showcasing a user case study example (so more like a video than a prototype).
That said, this is my first time recreating the iOS effects in Flash. So I'm curious - is there a better, easier way to accomplish this?
Is there a solution offered by Adobe that would help me accomplish this? Or perhaps there are some .fla templates available which include the basic iOS animations?
Thanks.

If you really only need to create textual logos, you might take a look at this:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23541/art-text
It'll be a lot less expensive than Illustrator, though of course it can't hold a candle to Illustrator's overall capabilities.

• Starbucks app and store hours

I know in the grand scheme of things this is a fairly minor issue, but since the upgrade to iOS6, has anyone been able to pull up store hours in the Starbucks app?
I am running the latest and greatest version, I believe 2.5. I have installed it on an iPhone 4S, an iPhone 5, and a 3rd generation iPad - and all 3 are unable to pull up store hours. Basically, I get a message that says "Retrieving Hours", and a rotating icon - no matter how long I wait, the hours never appear. I have tried to retrieve hours for locations across the US. Both the 4s and iPad had no issues with the Starbucks app prior to upgrade to iOS 6.
I have contacted Starbucks and they seem totally unaware of the issue. Their suggestion was to uninstall the app, reboot the phone and reinstall the app. Been there, done that. I even went one step further, I completely reset my iPhone 4s and set it up again as if it were a new iPhone. Then the only app I installed was the Starbucks version 2.5. Same issue. My thinking is that this has to be either an incompatibility between the basic iOS 6 install and the Starbucks app or the hours simply are not available.
Curious if anyone else has had this issue and if so, were you able to get it to work and how?
Thanks
Rotorblades

Update-just received the 2.5.1 update to the app and it now works great! Hours display immediately!
