  • SUP720 MPLS support only 700 routes per VRF?

In following document i found that SUP720 supporting only 700 router per 1 VRF. Am i right?
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps4835/products_data_sheet09186a0080159856.html

There is no such thing as a limit of 700 routes per VRF. What is described in this URL is that scalability testing has been performed with 1024 VRFs with 700 routes each (1024*700=716800 routes total).
You could go way beyond 700 routes per VRF if you don't plan to provision that many VRFs.
Let me know if I answered your question,

  • Support for IPv6 Router Advertisement Option for DNS Configuration RFC 5006

Hi everyone, do you know that whether Cisco routers support “IPv6 Router Advertisement Option for DNS Configuration RFC 5006” currently, is there any roadmap for this support? Thanks for your help!

No, this is not currently supported, and the last I heard, there is no roadmap for this until it becomes a standard (as opposed to being experimental).

  • Tacacs per vrf no supported on my router, does a gre tunnel would work?

    Hi,
Basically the problem is that I am working with old routers, checked already on feature navigator an the following commands are not supported on the router to communicate to a TACACS server that resides on a vrf:
Configuring Per VRF for TACACS+ Servers: Example
The following output example shows that the group server tacacs1 has been configured for per VRF AAA services:
    aaa group server tacacs+ tacacs1
    server-private 10.1.1.1 port 19 key cisco
    ip vrf forwarding cisco
    ip tacacs source-interface Loopback0
    ip vrf cisco
    rd 100:1
    interface Loopback0
    ip address 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0
    ip vrf forwarding cisco
Basically I can not support all the above, however I was thinking of bypassing the command creating a GRE tunnel, I just need a confirmation if the following would work, if not I would appreciated that someone can point me into a better direction:
    ON BRANCH ROUTER:
    int l0
    ip add 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
    no shut
    int tun10
    ip add 2.2.2.1 255.255.255.0
    ip vrf forwarding cisco
    tun so l0
tun dest [ip add of router directly connected to tacacs server]
    ip tacacs source-interface l0
    tacacs-server host 10.10.10.1
    tacacs-server key 7 cisco
    ON REMOTE ROUTER:
    int l0
    ip add 3.3.3.3 255.255.255.0
    no shut
    int tun10
    ip add 2.2.2.2 255.255.255.0
    ip vrf forwarding cisco
    tunn so l0
tunn dest [ip add of branch router]
Attached is some real information, the ip address of the real tacacs server is 10.20.30.61.

Thanks for the response but I post the question after knowing that, I already checked on Feature Navigator that THIS IS NOT SUPPORTED for my router, at the end of my configuration I am purposing a workaround using a tunnel to bybass the nonsupported configuration.
My question to you is, does a configuration with gre with vrf can work instead of the nonsupported configuration?
I know that the alternative is to run Radius but it is more paperwork to do than trying to implement a solution with the current IOS.
Thanks and sorry if I didn't make self clear at the beginning of my first post.

  • IOS for 2801 having support for MPLS

    Assalam o Alaikum,
Is there any IOS for 2801 router which has the support for MPLS?

    Alaikum Al Salam,
Please use Cisco Feature Navigator to find information about Cisco IOS software images and the supported features for your platform(s) :
    http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp
Search by feature and choose MPLS, and then choose Cisco 2801 as the platform, you'll get a list of the IOSs that support MPLS on your platform, and please always check the required DRAM and Flash.

  • Is Their Any Support For Data Aware Routing Through The Coherence DataGrid?

    Hi all,
Following paragraph describes the feature i m looking for(*Data Aware Nodes*)......
The Function Service can transparently route behavior to one or more nodes in the cluster. In the case of Data Aware Functions, the behavior can be directly routed to the node(s) that hosts the data needed to execute the function in parallel, stream and aggregate the results substantially reducing the time taken to execute complex data intensive tasks.
So please tell me is their any support for above said question. If this feature is their in coherence please help me with it's configuration and implementation as well.
    Thanx

Hi JK thank you for your reply
I want to achieve Data Aware Routing in Parallel Execution (Parallel Function Execution).
Consider a case where i have three nodes (say Node A,B C) in coherence cluster with partitioned scheme. Now suppose we have Employee related objects stored in cache of Node A and Node C only, but not on Node B. Then i want to perform some operation on Employee objects only in parallel fashion.
In coherence i ll achieve this using map.invokeAll(collectionKeys, agent);_ from client program.
Now my question to you is, as my operations are based on Employee objects only which are stored on Node A & c. Then When i request parallel Execution from client program which will connect to Node A from our cluster, will it go to Node B where their is no Employee objects ??????

  • IOS support for MPLS QoS as stated in RFC 3270 L-LSP

    Hi,
does anybody know something about the degree of implementation of RFC 3270 (Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Support of Differentiated Services), particularly on the classification based on Labels (L-LSP)?
From what is detailed on the CCO it seems that only Exp-bits based LSP are supported (configuring all links along the path for the proper data plane behaviour based on the Exp-bits values): E-LSP
    Thanx in advance
    Francesco

I guess, in PPP and LAN environments, E-LSP is the preferred method and in the ATM only L-LSP is possible. Maybe cisco chose to implement only the E-LSP for the LAN and PPP environments, i am not sure though.
    Anyone knows this for sure?
Check out http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/732/Tech/mpls/docs/mpls_qos_jayk.ppt for more details on MPLS-QoS

  • MPLS VPN support for VPNv6

    All,
which routers and IOS has MPLS VPN support for VPNv6?
    regards
    Devang Patel

    Hello Devang,
in the feature navigator look for the 6VPE feature for example a C7609 with sup720 3BXL and IOS 12.2(33)SxHa2 has the vpnv6 address-family.
    see for example
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipv6/configuration/guide/ip6-ov_mpls_6vpe.html
you still need an MPLS/Ipv4 core or an ipv4 core if using GRE tunnels:
Table 1 Feature Information for Implementing IPv6 VPN over MPLS
    Feature Name Releases Feature Information
    IPv6 VPN over MPLS (6VPE)
    12.2(28)SB
    12.2(33)SRB
    12.4(20)T
The IPv6 VPN (6VPE) over a MPLS IPv4 core infrastructure feature allows ISPs to offer IPv6 VPN services to their customers.
This entire document provides information about this feature.
MPLS VPN 6VPE support over IP tunnels
    12.2(33)
    SRB1
This feature allows the use of IPv4 GRE tunnels to provide IPv6 VPN over MPLS functionality to reach the BGP next hop.
This following sections provide information about this feature:

  • MIB walk for a router with MPLS enabled interfaces

To perform some testing in an agent I am building, I need a MIB walk for a router with MPLS enabled interfaces. I would greatly appreciate help with this MIB walk

You can do a walk-through of the MIB by running a command such as getmany -v2c public mplsLsrMIB . For detailed instructions refer http://cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2t/12_2t2/feature/guide/lsrmibt.html.

  • Can mpls support multicast?

    Hi,
    Can mpls support multicast packets?
Meaning, can multicast packets be sent to destinations over mpls network?
If so, how does it work?
I read in this forum somewhere that someone mentioned mpls and multicast can co-eixt.
    What exactly does it mean?
    Thanx!

In the MPLS network you can either use native multicast or you could implement mVPN on the PE routers if you implement MPLS VPN. mVPN uses native multicast in the core to encapsulate the multicast messages coming from a CE router and to forward these messages to PEs containing the same VRF.
For more information on mVPN, see the following link:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122newft/122t/122t13/ftmltvpn.htm
    Hope this helps,

  • Difference between 2621 router & 2621xm router?

What's the difference between a 2621 router and a 2621xm router? Besides the obvious of one being fast at 25k pps (2621) and the other faster at 30k pps (2621xm).   Which one would be better for CCNA security?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The difference between the c2621 and the c2621XM is that the XM has extra memory (ie XM designation) and xm models are a bit faster, usually 5K pps.Support for voice compare to old 2600's is rich and can be used for voice network.

  • IPv6 Multicast support for service providers 6PE / 6VPE

    Hi,
Can anyone comment on the current state of development for IPv6 Multicast support for Service Providers who are using 6PE or 6VPE in their MPLS core.
(6PE - SP is running MPLS in its IPv4 core, it uses IPv6-enabled provider edge (PE) routers to transport IPv6 traffic over an IPv4-only enabled core. 6PE does not support VPN,s it just provides a mechanism for tunneling IPv6 packets from ingress PE to egress PE routers)
(6VPE - refers to a PE router capable of supporting IPv6 VPNs. A 6VPE solution can be used to provide IPv6 based layer 3 VPN services in a similar way to IPv4 based Layer 3 VPN services.)
My understanding is that 6PE and 6VPE solution are unable to support IPv6 multicast traffic.
Any further information on configuration, design or development work in the pipeline would be gratefully received,
    kind regards John

    Hi John,
From our question I understand you are sking about the MVPN support for IPv6 multicast. It is actually supported on the XR platform as of now. Please refer:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/xr12000/software/xr12k_r4.0/multicast/configuration/guide/mc40mcst.html#wp2890031
    I hope this helps.

  • Advertise implicit-null label for static routes

Hi, I want to ask if there is any way to change the label or stop adveritise label for an static route. Normally LDP advertises an Implicit Null label for directly connected routes. We want to do similar thing for static routes.
We need to do this is because somehow we need to do rate-limit on the PE interface connecting to the core network instead of the interface connecting to CE. As the incoming packets still got labelled, the rate-limit is skipped. So we want to stop the PE creates label for the static routes or advertises them with implicit null label. Thanks in advance.

    Calvin,
Bear in mind that if you only enter the "no mpls ldp advertise-label" command, LDP will stop propagating all labels, which might not ba what you want. If you selectively want to propagate certain labels, then you need to also use "mpls advertise label for " as Shivlu suggested.

  • It is asking for a router name and password???

The sales person told me how easy this would be to set up..."just plug it in" he said...right.  Anyhoo - I disconnected my ancient wireless router and put the cd in - started doing its thing and then it asks for a router name and password...the only name and password I have is from my old ancient router...how could it be the same?  Where do I find this info?  Thank you for any help!

Just go to the Linksys support site, find your router model and hardware version there, and download the User Guide or User Manual for your router, and there's all kinds of useful information there.  I'm surprised that there isn't a "Quick Start" guide in with the router that gives basic instructions like go to 192.168.1.1 and then how to login to set up your router.  But it is in the downloaded user manual for sure.

  • No AR5008 WPA2 Support for XP

I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro and loaded it up with Windows XP. Much to my dismay, the wireless driver seems to lack support for WPA2 under XP, only giving me the option of WPA(1). And that really ***** seeing as to how the AirPort Extreme that I also purchased does not support WPA(1), only giving me the option of WPA2. I had to bust out an older linksys Wireless-G router to get on my network with the older security protocol!!
If I am running OS X 10.5.1 or Windows Vista, I can connect to the airport with WPA2, but using XP, I am stuck with WPA(1). Anyone know where I can find the appropiate driver for Windows XP?
As a side note, the wireless card shows up as AR5008 under XP and as AR5008X under Vista. However the Vista driver does not work under XP.

Sorry for not checking on my own question. I just decided to use Vista instead. As for the answer to your question, no, the patch did not work.
That particular patch is part of Service Pack 2 and therefore does not need to be installed separately.
The Atheros website says that they don't supply a WPA2 driver for XP for this wireless chipset!! I think that is garbage, but what can one man do.
Anyways, I find myself using OS X more and more these days :-P So, I will just use Vista for my (diminishing) Windows needs.
