MPLS with RIP

HI,
Diagram, CE--PE-mbgp vpn--P--PE2---ext....
When I use RIP v2 between PE and P or PE2, if I use /32 loopback0, everything is ok for the VPN MPlS
But, if I use /24 as loop0, the P(or PE2) will have correct routes learned from PE router through MP-iBGP and assigned correct labels and forwarded labels to other neighbor router.
but, that label pair doesn' show up in "show mpls forwarding" table, so ,ping failed here.
If I change back to /32, it shows up, everythign is cool.
so far, I know Ospf may have problem with /32 /24 loop0. but, If I use /24 for loop0 but use ip os net p-p on loop 0 or use Isisi, it seems no such problem.
any suggestions why this happened to RIp?

The above is my exact IOS version.
this problem is consistent.
again, the diagram is like following,
CE-PE1-mp-ibgp--PE2-interAS--PE3--mpipbg--PE4
on CE and PE1 , just use simple routing.
On PE1 and PE2, it's Mp-iBGP in one AS and PE3 and pE4 are another AS.
PE2 and PE3 run as "next-hop-self" for PE1 and PE4 in VPN MPLS
Les's say, one route A from CE goes to PE1, and it's been assigned a label 101.
As PE1 and PE2 are mp-ibgp, it's running RIP v2, route A with label 101 is sent over to PE1.
PE1 assign a new VPN label 202 paired to 101 and send to neighbor PE2
If /32 is used, "show mpls forwarding" has "202/101 44:1:route A (44:1 is RD).
But, if /24 is used, it doesn't have this on that "show"
but, it indeed, has that 202/101 in "show bgp vpn all labels" for that route A.
and, it succussfuly send that label 202 and route A to PE3 , etc.
But, packet failes here.

Problem with ripped MPEGs in Encore CS3

A friend had created a DVD (with either Windows Movie Maker or Nero; not sure which), but I wanted to redo the menu (his was really lame). His software created four .VOB chunks of the 50-minute video.
I ripped these chunks, renamed them as .mpg, and imported them into Encore 1.5 (which I had at the time) as four separate timelines. All four chunks imported OK, but I had to transcode the last three before placing them on timelines. I created a new menu, and burned a new DVD. However, playback on both my computer and my DVD player had noticeable pauses between each timeline chunk (my friend's original DVD does play back seamlessly). I tried both linked timelines through end actions and a playlist - same result.
I upgraded to Encore CS3 because it now can add more than one video file to a single timeline, thinking that would eliminate the pauses between the chunks and I'd get seamless playback. However, when importing the original .mpg chunks into Encore CS3, I get noticeable noise, in the form of green macroblocking in the first few frames of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chunks, which were NOT present in Encore 1.5. (I see the same noise when importing these chunks into Premier Pro CS3.) Also, Encore CS3 marks these last three video chunks as "Don't Transcode", but when I place them on the single timeline, there is no audio.
I've read through and understand the several Forum threads about the difficulty of working with ripped DVD files. I'm not trying to do any sort of editing on the video chunks. However, I tried some of the MPEG editors suggested in these threads to create a single .mpg file, but they have their own problems with this.
The original AVI file has been lost. I could recreate it from the source VHS tape, but have been trying to avoid that.
Anyone have any thoughts about this? If the behavior I described above in the two CS3 packages is a potential bug, I would be happy to submit a bug report to Adobe.

Sorry to say this really is not a bug.
The kind of thing that you're trying to do is something Encore was never intended to be capable of doing - it's that simple.
Renaming a VOB file to mpg is a workaround to try & force import of a format that is essentially designed to be on a completed, compiled DVD-Video disc. It is not the same as properly demiltiplexing the stream. A VOB file on a DVD is a Video OBject.
The way this works (structure wise) is like this:
VTS_01_0.VOB = the menus for VTS 1
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, & VTS_01_4.VOB are all separate parts of the same timeline - VTS 1.
They are split into 4 because the timeline after encoding will have between between 3 & 4Gb in size. The way DVD-Video gets compiled will take a single encoding of 3.5Gb and break it into seamless chunks of 1 or less Gb each.
These VOB files contain everything - including any subtitles.
They are not designed to be edited.
The safest way to get seamless use - assuming that you absolutely must rework files - is to jouin all the 4 VOB files together using a simple command line instruction.
(copy /b VTS_01_1.VOB+VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_ALL.VOB)
The /b switch is for a binary copy, and although I am uncertain if this is absolutely required or not, it is how we join up the 2 .DAT files when restoring DLT tape content to DVD-R DL discs)
Renaming this to a .mpg file may give you the seamless playback you are looking for.

Encrypted GRE Tunnel with RIP on a SRW527w??

Hi All,
Is it possible to configure an IPSEC GRE tunnel with RIP on an SRP527w? I see RIP, GRE & IPSEC are all possible.. But I'm not sure about them all together securing the GRE tunnel??

Routing with rip and igrp

Hi all if I have 4 routers all on 172.16.1.0, 172.16.2.0, 172.16.3.0, 172.16.4.0, If I use rip on each one, will it advertise 172.16.0.0 as its classful, and would this cause probs with routing ?

By default, RIP and EIGRP will Auto-summarize to classful boundaries. And without further configuration, or a sample physical drawing, could cause problems as each of these networks falls into 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0 Class-B summary.

Problems with ripping files from my cds to Zen Touch via Mediasource pla

This is a problem I have had recently. I run Windows XP and have a Zen Touch which is a really decent player. However, just recently I have been unable to rip any CD tracks from my ample collection and put them on the Zen touch. I always get a little dialogue box which says CDrom doesn't support file ripping. Try the Recording function. It has done this even on CDs whose tracks I ACTUALLY put on the Zen touch already without any problem. Why is it doing this now?
I have tried re-installing the Zen touch cd a number of times but to no avail.

Thanks for that. I have been going around in frustration with this thing for a few nights. Even my husband is at a loss with it and he knows more about this stuff than I do.
I have effected a temporary solution to the problem which is to rip cd tracks using Nero Startsmart which converts them to MP3 no problem. I have also tried using the Media Player as well. Now all I have to do is download from the MP3 folder the tracks I have already ripped and load them onto the Zen.
What I don't understand about all of this is that the MediaSource Software was working okay until this month.

MPLS with 2 S. Provider

Hi I look for informatiom about MPLS network with 2 different S. Provider connection with each CPE . For redundancy. VPN and voice is a requirement. Anybody knows where can I find information, tips or exemples ? TIA

Are you dualhoming your CPE to 2 SP's, and do you also have redundancy built for your CPE (2 CPE per location as well).
The solution to your setup would be your topology dependent and would be customized, once you furnish more details about the topological setup we can, discuss it with focus.
If you have 1 CPE with 2 connection to 2 SP's then you can manipulate your routing with path attributes for PE-CE BGP or metric for PE-CE IGP.
VPN, Voice you can run these services provided you also procure the necessary SLA's for priority traffic like voice from both the SP's.
In summary, more info needed to elaborate.

FlexVPN over MPLS with NAT

HI There,
I was wondering if an expert on FlexVPN would be able to comment on this..
I am looking to use FlexVPN hub and spoke deployment using the FLEXoMPLS feature... So I will have hub routers connected to remote routers via IPSec/GRE tunnels. This enables VRFs at hub and spokes to be joined via MPLS point-to-point link.
Can someone please confirm if it would be possible to NAT at the remote site with the VRF interface being on the inside and the IPSec/GRE tunnel in the global VRF on the outside??

Well thanks for all the help but I am not going to be able to use this method, I am not going to be able to connect a cable at all the sites, I don't know If I can just wire an RJ-45 as a loopback plug maybe but still not a good method. Also when I reconfigure my linux box with both the networks it does not add the second network and I loose ASDM, I guess I shouldnt have changed the management interface. Is there any other method, what I was wondering does it send the syslog with the asa outside interface IP to the remote syslog IP, if so can or would a NAT static with the orig. working on the outside with the asa IP and the dest of the syslog translating to a single IP on the VPN network back on the outside interface... seems like a simple thing to ask to do, I kind of understand what is going on but seems there needs to be a check box to say this syslog server is over a vpn and it takes care of all the magic.

Frame Relay access into MPLS with QOS

My provider is telling me that I can take my frame relay network and map it into their MPLS network. Basically all my sites would connect into the providers Frame network and then mapped into the proivders MPLS network. Now I know this will work; but my concern is VoIP and QOS. If I have a single PVC and I am marking VoIP packets with an IPPREC of 5 how will the providers frame realy network see that? And how will it be honered from CE => Provider FR => PE => P => PE => Provider FR => CE

Todd, I doubt how would your SP provide you guranteed QOS SLA's with that setup. As there is no one to one mapping of PREC/EXP values to FR based QOS.
But although, if he gurantees or ensures that the FR access cloud is never going to be congested and everything is fifo in there then he can provide your per hop QOS behaviour based on your PREC value across the MPLS cloud.

WTF? Zen Nano Plus/Error with Ripping to portable dev

I have ripped a cd to WMA and now have it in my PC music library. Now that it is converted, I want to drag it to my Nano Plus. Oddly enough, only some go through complete, others have an error. I have deleted and tried to rip and move song by song as well as the whole cd... What am I doing wrong?
Please help this noob out Thanks for your time.

Did you transfer all the audio files to the root directory? Try creating folder in the player and transfer those audio files to the folder instead.

Trouble with ripping a DVD to .mp4 using Handbrake

I have successfully converted sevearl DVD's to .mp4 using Handbrake, but one DVD is giving me some trouble. When I play it back, the sound is only a crackling noise but the video is perfect. What can I do to fix this? Is there another program I should try?

One possibility is that the original audio may be PCM rather than the common AC3 now found on most US/Canadian made DVDs today. While the PCM audi is (or at least was) most commonly used on DVDs manufactured for sale in other countries, a small number of older DVDs can sometimes still be found. (I have and old copy of "Outrage" starring Antonio Banderas which was manufactured using PCM audio.) In any case, a quick check of the label should determine whether or not this is the cause of your problem which cannot be handled by any ripper/extractor software with which I am currently familiar.

PRINTING with RIP such as ImagePrint 6.1 (the full postscript version)

i took the chance and bought Aperture. i don't want to go into any of the
complaints here. i just would like to find out how to make ImagePrint work with Aperture.
it looks like Aperture does it's own color management. i think. if i were to
print via Aperture using Epson's driver, i'd have to turn off color managment because Aperture does the color management. no problem there.
however, if i were to print via Aperture using ImagePrint's driver for the Epson
4800, then i'm lost.
in order to print from Aperture, i'd select an image and print command. then i'm presented with a dialog box with all the common printing options. where i'm suppose to select a printer profile, but only the epson 4800 profiles from epson are available and non of the profiles from imageprint. i've confirm that all required profiles are in the appropriate folders inside Library.
it seems that the only way for me to use ImagePrint to print my files is to
export the image from Aperture, and then open the image with ImagePrint to print.
has anyone else who uses the full version of ImagePrint come across this problem? if so, what was your solution?

Sorry, I only use the non-postscipt version of ImagePrint to a 4800. I rarely need to print postscript files to a photo printer, and if I do, I just open and rasterize in Photoshop.
It's not want you want to hear, but all you can do is (a) call colorbyte support and ask your question, or just export 16 bit TIFF files (either to a hot folder or otherwise) and print in IP. That works fine for me. Just make sure your color profile stays attached through the export.

After 11 years with Verizon, they are trying to get away with ripping me off... Edge program...

Signed up for Edge in May, somehow VERIZON "accidentally" cancelled my Edge program for 5 months, and then sent me a letter saying they were fixing the problem. I never noticed that it had been cancelled, and have never in 11 years had a problem with Verizon. My bill when on the edge program with the incentives, is about $180 for both phones. When it was not on the Edge program due to Verizon's mistake, my bill was $185 per month for those months. So basically, it was pretty much the same price, because of the incentives we received for adding the Edge program, and we were able to get 2 new phones. After HOURS of speaking on the phone with agents trying to correct this issue when my bill hit over $300 in October, we were finally able to fix the money problem and I wasn't "overcharged". However, there has been no one in this company that has been able to help me fix the other pretty big problem with THEIR error. Since they "fixed" the problem in October, they started my Edge program over, and basically shafted me out of 5 months and payments towards the 2 phones. The only reason we agree to do the edge program was to upgrade phones every 12 months, but now because of VERIZON'S MISTAKE, we are going to have to make 17 payments to reach that halfway point. All they keep telling me is that I wasn't on Edge for those 5 months, so I wasn't paying for the phones, but what noone understands, is that if they never screwed up and canceled my edge on accident, then I would have been paying basically the same amount of money every month, except I would be 5 payments further on my plan. I don't care where they allocated my payments, this was VERIZONS mistake and they need to go back those 6 months and fix every bill to show that I was on the edge program and they need to update my account, but refuse to help me. WHO SHOULD I CONTACT FOR HELP? News companies, better business bureau?? I'm so frustrated.

This happened to me to and I feel strongly that Verizon should correct the extension of the end date on 2 phones on my account. I upgraded 3 lines on my account on the same day in April 2014 - one line has continued on the Edge program correctly, 2 lines were taken off the Edge program in error by Verizon and when Verizon discovered their error (and of course caused billing issues that were difficult to work through) and put the 2 phones back on the Edge program, those 2 phones now have a much later end date than the one line that didn't get canceled off Edge (again error by Verizon). During my last conversation with a Verizon rep while correcting the billing issue, I asked if they could correct the issue on the completion/upgrade timeline on the 2 lines Verizon messed up & was told it was a different department I would need to talk to....I am working up the time & patience to spend on a call to Verizon to see if there is anyway they will fix this as they should!

Working with ripped MPEG in FCP

Bad form I know but what is the best way to get DVD video m2v into a format I can use in FCP projects DV PAL? I've been playing with MAC MPEG2Encoder but am struggling with quality and settings. Also I tried compressor and got initially excited but lots of white interlace lines appear on moving shots. Any thoughts welcome?

Having followed good advice above I've made progress but, and maybe this is a pal issue... the footage is skippy and jerky like it's trying to catch up with itself all the time. What could this be? Settingswere Export to Quicktime from Streamclip, High Quality, compression Apple Motion JPEG A. The jerkiness happens when it is in the FCP timeline. I notice the data rates are high (around the 7 or 8 mbps).

WAN MPLS with IS-IS - 1G or 10G ethernet

Which method would be better: use one 10G link, or combine multiple 1G interfaces?
Does anyone know about any pros or cons in using each method?

With 10G link, you dont need to worry about load-sharing across multiple links but with multiple 1G links, you will have to see if your links are being properly utilized.
The load-balancing on Cisco platform is flow based, so based on a flow, the outgoing interface will be chosen and traffic will be sent out, so there is a high possibility that a link might be under-utilized. But at the same time the other benefit is, if one link goes down, others are present which is not an option with single 10G link (unless you have couple of them).
From the troubleshooting and manageability stand-point, a single 10G link will be a better option.
There are multiple pros n cons for both the options. At the end, it all depends on the business requirements.
