Mreport sevices component down in OEM
hello:
I have Oracle AS(10g 10.1.2.0.2) on Win2k Prof
My report services component was running fine a few days back...but now its status is set to "unknown" and I also cannot load:
localhost/reports/rwservlet
where local host is my machine where oracle AS and other components are installed
when I load this and Iget the error
nternal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
I stopped it and it stopped and then I start it and get the message that report server has been started but the status remains unknown and i cannot run my reports
between the time when it was running and now when its not running I only remember that I have added the portal component...which I deleted by running uninstall but the portal component is still in OEM...If I am clear enough can anybody help
This very urgent please ( Ihave posted the same in reports forum but getting late in having some response from there so decided to post here)
thanks
Thanks for the answer Courtney. Then may I ask, what is the meaning of that "Main File" selection box on the file page?

Coreapplication shows as down in OEM, but all components are up
Hi,.
Just upgraded from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6.2. All went fine and everything running. Also upgraded WLS from 10.3.5 to 10.3.6
Yet the core application shows as down in OEM although system status reads All components are available
weird .....
diagnostic logs show failed to get status for java components so looks like the console isnt communicating with opmn correctly? Not sure. Everything is running out of the same box except the database.
admin server log presents:
Failed to get status of all of OPMN components for one or more Oracle Instances of BI instance: coreapplication
Any bright ideas please ping them this way!
THanks

Possible to reset component metrics in OEM?
Is it possible to reset the component metrics in OEM for a given composite app?
I'd like to run a baseline performance test, reset the metrics, then do a revised run & profile the change.
This is straightforward in OSB, but I haven't seen a way of doing it in OEM.
thanks

PeopleSoft Target status always down in OEM Grid
Hi All,
This is my first post here. So pardon me if I make any grammatical mistakes.
I installed OEM Grid 10.2.0.4 in my machine and also installed the PeopleSoft Management Plugin in my OMS and Agent. Now after configuring the PeopleSoft targets (only Application server), I am able to bounce my application server via grid, but the staus of my Applcaition server in Grid is always down. but my application server is up and running fine.
Has anyone faced similar issue like this before?
Any inputs will be Highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Targets down one OEM 12c console
I have successfully installed OEM 12c on RHEL6, it is a 3-node using F5 Big IP SLB. OMS is up and running on all three nodes, however the OEM console shows three targets to be down on the first node as seen below.
1. node1:4889_Management_service
2. node1:4889_Management_service_CONSOLE
3. node1:4889_Management_service_PBS
The same three targets are reported up on node2 and node3.
I ran ./emctl status oms -details on all three nodes and the results are the same.
It looks like a false alarm to me. Any ideas?Hi Bill Wagman,
You can remove the agents and its monitored targets as below:
a. On the agent machine, stop the agent if running.
b. On the OMS machine, run the following:
1. Ensure emcli is configured:
<12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli setup
2. Login to emcli:
<12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli login -username=SYSMAN
3. Remove the problematic agents from console:
<12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<agent machine name:port>" -type="oracle_emd" -delete_monitored_targets -async
To delete a specific target, you can use the following command:
<12c_OMS_HOME>/bin>./emcli delete_target -name="<target_name>" -type="<target_type>"
Once the agent is removed from console, you can use the following note to deinstall agent software from agent machine:
Note 1368088.1 - How to De-install the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Agent
Note: The steps in the note 454081.1 is not applicable for 12c agents. It is not recommended to update repository objects manually.

Not getting email once agent go down from OEM
Hi,
We configured notification rule for agent unavailability and Mail Server is configured properly as we are getting test email but if i do emctl stop dbconsole (as we are not using grid) we are not getting the email
please can some one suggest me what i missed
ThanksHi,
When you shutdown the DB console, the DB Control agent is also stopped. Thus, there is no EM process left to handle notification. If you want to send a notification when the (DB Control) database is down, then see the following MOS note:
How To Send Notification Via Mail For Database Down From DBConsole (Doc ID 1108372.1)
By the way, with EM Grid/Cloud Control you can set up out-of-band notification to send an email notification when an OMS (Oracle Management Service) or the Repository database is down

"Missing component" messages in the installation logs
I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 on Windows, and I found some strange entries in the installActionsxxxxx.log files:
"# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.bc4j 10.1.2.0.0.
# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.bc4j.oem 10.1.2.0.0.
# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.soap.srv 2.2.0.0.2a.
# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.apache.ojsp 10.1.2.0.0.
# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.apache.ejb 9.0.1.0.1."...
This goes on for several pages. I still had the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 installation packages on my computer, and I found out that several of the missing packages actually belong to 10.1.2, and several of them are earlier than 10.1.2.
My questions: is it a problem at all that these components are missing, or shall I ignore these log entries? If this is a problem, how to fix it?
Best Regards,
GaborHi Gabor,
You can ignor these log entries. (There is a bug logged. The installer team is looking for a good way to surpress these messages.)

The Service Component Container is not running" eventhough they are running
Hi,
We are on 12.0.4 with hardware load balancer(cisco), and pcp has been configured between two Application nodes. The database is in the seperate node with OS Cluster.
I wanted to configure Workflow notification mailer. For that i have logedin through OAM workflow-->It is showing as
Nitification mailer -unavailable
Agent listener -- Down
Service component -- Down
Background Engine -- Down
Purge -- UP
Control queue cleanup - Down
I have Navigate to Service component screen,
There all the Automatic component are showing status as stopped with error, I clicked the "workflow agent listener service" of container all the services are up and "state" is showing as "activated" Node it is showing as "Primary node of PCP"
But when you click on any "stopped with error" service to start, It is throughing " The Service Component Container is not running" when i click on "view log" it is not showing any message seems like hanging.
Before starting the Notification mailer configuration i wanted to rectify the above issue.
Can you pl help us out in rectify the same.
Thanks and Regards
VasuCheck the log file from the server itself; it should be under ($APPLCSF/$APPLLOG/FNDCPGSC*.txt).

How does OEM monitor the weblogic domain
Hi Guys,
I would like to know how does the OEM monitor the weblogic domain, i.e where does the em agent (in the target host) check to determine if the weblogic domain is up or down ?
- Does OEM fetch data regarding managed server from admin server ?
- Does managed servers show up in OEM if the admin server console is down but the managed server is up ? (i think it does show up, even if the admin is down but then how/where does it get to know the status)
- Is there any settings in the weblogic to be set ?
- Does the behavior of weblogic EM console and the OEM grid console are same ?
Basically want to understand, how and what all needs to check when the domain is showing down in OEM (when domain is up and running in weblogic console and the agent is perfectly fine)
Similarly for the Database how does it check the status "up or down"
- does it try to make a connection to the db ?
- if so where do we give the details for the db connection user and password ?
Please help me in understanding these.
Thanks and Regards,
HarishIf the targets are actually up and showing down in OEM console , so it means something wrong with the configuration .
Can you check the error message in the console , why it is down ? Or you can also check agent logs on the target server.
To monitor the weblogic , it uses username used during the configuration.
Please check the picture at below link :
Discovering Middleware Targets
Enter the WebLogic Administration Server user name and password.If you want to discover the target only for monitoring purposes, then it is sufficient to provide a user name that has a monitoring role. If you want to monitor the target and also perform start/stop operations, then ensure that you provide a user name that has either an operator role or an administrator role.Note: There is the potential of account locking issues if you enter the default WebLogic user name, and the account password is changed without updating the Enterprise Manager monitoring credentials for the Domain and Farm.
Thanks

HELP : Productive system down
Hello
Our Productive server suddenly stopped functionning.
In Management Console the Disp+Work was jellow in status"running but Dialog Queue standstil"
What should I look at?
Thank you very much in advanceIn the meantime I restarted the server. They claims the systems get "frozen". However in st03n I have good response time (todays average for dialog:348ms background:3854 ms)
I am sending today's part of dev_disp.old(there were a lot of *** WARNING => DpRqServiceQueue: timeout of HIGH PRIO msg, return DP_CANT_HANDLE_REQ):

HTTP Server Doesn't Start after install
I just completed an install of the 10.1.3.1 Oracle App Server. It indicated that the install was successful. I can see in the log the BPEL Manager deploying in the default domain, but I do not see any reference to the HTTP server. Also, when I do a *./opmnctl startall* there is no HTTP_Server~1.log created.
Is there a step I need to complete to enable the Apache server to start? I must be missing something - the Apache folder is there in the install folder.
The *./opmnctl status* reports:

What am I missing? Is there a package I need to install before installing the App Server?
Edited by: BCurtis on Sep 24, 2010 3:22 PM
Edited by: BCurtis on Sep 24, 2010 3:25 PMI now know I'm missing the <ias-component id="HTTP_Server"> in the opmn.xml file. The following is from an older install of a few years ago.
<ias-component id="HTTP_Server">
<process-type id="HTTP_Server" module-id="OHS">
<module-data>
<category id="start-parameters">
<data id="start-mode" value="ssl-enabled"/>
</category>
</module-data>
<process-set id="HTTP_Server" numprocs="1"/>
</process-type>
</ias-component>This explains why the startall doesn't start the HTTP Server, but why would the install not include the HTTP Server in the configuration? -
We need to disable Otrace utility as part of our security requirements. Can one of you provide me the document to perform this?
Oracle 11g
Windows 2008
Thanks.How and why to disable ORACLE Trace
One of the components of ORACLE Enterprise Manager (OEM) can have a significant negative impact on the performance of your database connections. Typically, the problem symptom is a steadily increasing login time for users. Depending on your configuration, you may see this problem for server-based connections, for client-based connections, or both. To resolve the problem, you must disable an underlying component of the OEM Performance Pack.
By default, OEM does not come with the Performance Pack toolset installed. The Performance Pack is a set of add-on utilities designed to help with the tuning and performance management aspects of the database. The Performance Pack includes tools such as Top Sessions and ORACLE Expert.
One of the Performance Pack tools, ORACLE Trace, may impact your performance even if you do not use it. ORACLE Trace evaluates database-level trace information to identify potential performance problems. To generate the information it needs in order to perform this evaluation, ORACLE Trace collects trace information about the database activity.
You should not run ORACLE Trace constantly; however, it is enabled by default in many installations in ORACLE7.3 and above. As a result, your database may be constantly generating trace data that you may never use. Because you are generating and maintaining this trace information, your database may exhibit performance-related problems, such as poor query response time, aborted sessions, and database connection attempts that take a very long time. This problem is most prevalent in the UNIX implementations of ORACLE Trace.
To determine if ORACLE Trace is collecting data on your server, check for the existence of the process.dat and regid.dat files in the /otrace/admin subdirectory of your ORACLE software home directory. An example of this check, as performed on a UNIX server, is shown in the following listing. The cd command changes the directory, and the ls command lists the files that match the *.dat filename format.
cd $ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin
ls -alt *.dat-rw-rw-rw- 1 oracle dba 11948576 Sep 16 10:40 process.dat
-rw-rw-rw- 1 oracle dba 1023292 Sep 16 10:40 regid.dat
The listing shows that the process.dat file has grown to over 11MB. In general, the performance of database connections is affected when the process.dat file exceeds 5MB in size. Before beginning to resolve the problem, you should first shut down the databases on the server. To resolve the problem, delete the process.data and regid.data files and run the otrccref command (which re-initializes the ORACLE Trace files). These actions are shown in the following example:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin
rm -f process.dat regid.dat
otrccrefIn the listing, the UNIX rm command is used to delete the trace files created by ORACLE Trace. To prevent new entries from being written to the trace files, you should set the EPC_DISABLED environment variable to TRUE in the profile (login) file for the user account that owns the ORACLE software (usually named oracle). For example, the following Bourne shell command set this variable:
EPC_DISABLED=TRUE; export EPC_DISABLED
You must also disable ORACLE Trace log generation by modifying the listener.ora file. Each listener.ora file includes a section that lists the instances to listen for and the ORACLE software home directory for the instances. A sample listener.ora section for the ‘loc’ instance is shown in the following listing:
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = loc)
(ORACLE_HOME = /orasw/app/oracle/product/8.0.3.1)
To make sure SQL*Net V2 and Net8 connections to your database do not enable ORACLE Trace, you must add a clause to the listener.ora file. The new clause, which sets a value for the ENVS variable, should follow the ORACLE_HOME variable setting, as shown in the following listing:
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = loc)
(ORACLE_HOME = /orasw/app/oracle/product/8.0.3.1)
(ENVS='EPC_DISABLED=TRUE')
For all of the environment variables to take effect, you should log in to the server again, shut down and restart the listener process, and restart the databases.
When making these changes, you should be sure to make the changes in both the user profile file and the listener.ora file. If you change only the user profile, then connections from the server will perform adequately while the performance of connections from clients using SQL*Net gradually deteriorate. If you need to use ORACLE Trace, use it only during specific periods when you are tuning a known set of database activities.
