MRP- Forward Scheduling

Hi Team,
I have requirement that during MRP run (MD02), planned order to be created for my FERT item with "Forward schedjuling". I understand that MRP always performed with "Backward Scheduling" by default. But i have below clarifications.
Q1: If i set the scheduling type as 'Forward Scheduling" in OPU5 for my plant & order type (LA), still MRP run in MD02 performs "Backward scheduling"?
Q2: How the basic start date & basic end date for my planned orders are calculated during MRP using "Forward Scheduling" with the below assumptions.
Assumptions:
1. In OPU5, for my plant & order type "LA" "Forwad scheduling" is set
2. I do not have routing for my FERT item & i have default operation set in OPJG for my order type & plant
3. In house production time is maintained as 2 days in my FERT material master
4. I have BOM for my FERT item which has only one ROH item.
5. For the ROH item, in my material master, i have set the planned delivery time as 3 days.
6. For the ROH item, the current stock in the plant is ZERO.
7. GR Processing time for both the FERT & ROH item is ZERO.
8. All the days are working day in my plant except saturday & Sunday
9. In MD04, i do not have any entries for my FERT item except the below PIR quantity of 5
10. In MD04, i do not have any entries for my ROH item
11. I did not maintain any schedule margin key for my FERT & ROH item in my material master.
With the above assumptions, i have created the PIR for my FERT item on 01.08.2014 for the quantity 5.
Q3: With this condition, if run MRP for my FERT item, what will be the "basic start date" & "basic end date" for my FERT planned order & what will be the "basic start date" & "basic end date" for my ROH planned order?
Your valuable guidance will be very much needed. Currently i do not have test system to test this case. hence need your valuable comments
Thanks

Hi Caetano,
I have read the document provided by you. Still i can not clear on some points.
The document says that:
For a planned order created by MRP, you observe the following symptoms:
MRP considers the requirement date as basic finish date and calculates the basis start date using backward scheduling
The planned order basic finish date is equal to the requirement date and it is not adjusted according to the production finish date.
As per the above statement after running MRP in MD02 with "Scheduling" type as "Lead Time Scheduling & Capacity Planning", the basic dates are determined with "BACKWARD SCHEDULING" (even though  in OPU5 i have mentioned the scheduling type as "FORWARD") as below screen shot & also the "Basic dates" are NOT adjusted even though in OPU5, i have mentioned as "Adjust basic dates & adjust dep.req date to operation date" which is right as per the system design which can not be changed.
Note: I have kept the in house production time as 5 days for my FERT item in material master.
My question is "How the Production dates" are derived during MRP run (refer in the above screen shot). In the routing, i have maintained the labour time as "42.5 hours" for 1 base quantity.
Note: I have maintained the in house production time as 5 days in material master & in routing the labour hours as 42.5 hours (equal to 5days considering 8.5 hours as working hours per day). So the data maintained in material master & in routing are synchronized (CA97)
Thanks

  • How to disable forward scheduling in Sales order

    Hi SD Experts,
    Can you please provide the solutions for the below requirements.
    Requirement details are below:
    How to disable forward scheduling in sales orders....
    For My sales order type i already configured in customizing that delivery scheduling should only carry out backward scheduling.
    The results is tht no forward scheduling in carried out when material is i stock .. this is ok...
    But when there is no stock and ATP indiates an expected inward movemnt, the system ignores the indicator and carries out forward scheduling anyway.
    Is there any possibility to change this behaviour?
    Appreciate any help....
    Regards
    Sudheer

    Hi
    If you do not want the system to switch to forward scheduling automatically, you can specify per plant in Customizing for MRP, in the IMG activity Parameters for determining the basic dates that the system is to continue the backward scheduling calculation even if the resulting start date lies in the past.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Whenever system does the forward scheduling for the external procurement ,

    Dear Guru,
    In one of plant i have a typical problem.
    Whenever system does the forward scheduling for the external procurement , system does not takes Todays date (MRP Run date).
    System simply sifted the requirement date by 30 days. and scheduled accordingly. In the expection message system shows the correct requirement date.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    Dear ,
    Can you let us know what value you're using for Scheduling when you carry out MRP run 1 or 2 ? Are you getting Planned Order while running MRP ? Wht is the Lot Size  are you using in the MMR-MM02-MRP1 view ? Wht is GR processing Time and PDT?
    Check the following in your case :
    1.Go to Transaction code omi4- Select the MRP lot sizeGo to the "Scheduling" in the Tab Lot size for the short term period-
    Check the Scheduling indicator : Requirement Date =Delivery Date  in MRP Lot sizing Procedure in OM14.Basically ,this indicator defines the time in the period the system is to create the availability date or the start date for the lot for period lot-sizing procedures.
    2.Goto OPPQ-Carry All Overall plant parameters -Order Start date in the Past -Check wether you are marked.
    3.Goto -OMEW-Check the PR processing time in days

  • Opening period (schedule margin key) in forward scheduling

    Please advise whether opening period is used in forward scheduling that we specify in schedule margin key? if not, what will be the reason?

    Hi,
    Opening period is used only in Backword scheduling.
    b'cause opening period is period of workdays deducted from the start date to determine the creation date of order.

  • Explain How delivery date is calculated using backward and forward schedul

    How can anyone please explain how delivery date is calculated using forward and backward scheduling
    I want to have it broken down into the following steps
    for eg for delivery date calculation following dates are used
    Material Availabilty Date
    Material Staging Date
    Pick/pack time
    Transportation PLanning date
    Loading date
    Goods issue date
    Transit Date
    Delivery Date
    Can some one please give me an example and explain wht these dates are
    for eg customer needs delivery date on  11/20/2008
    how would the system cacluate whether it can meet the delivery date using backward scheduling
    and if it doesnt meet how does the system do the forward scheduling
    also i am not clear with the following dates
    material avaialibilty date
    material staging date
    transportation date
    can some one please explain me all this in detail
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Basically this is the CRSD(Customer requested ship date logic)logic in which system calculates the ship date depends upon the material availability. If material is available system calculates ship date on the basis of master data maintained in customisation.Master data is maintained in the  following link.
    If material is not available then system takes into consideration vendor delivery date & then calculate customer ship date.
    Please go through the link in SPRO
    LE-Shipping -Basic shipping functions-Scheduling -Delivery scheduling & Transportation scheduling-Maintain duration.
    In customisation following data is maintained
    Material Availabilty Date
    Material Staging Date
    Pick/pack time
    Transportation PLanning date
    Loading date
    Goods issue date
    Transit Date
    Delivery Date
    Hope you got the idea of CRSD calculation
    Regards,
    Prashant.

    Hi all,
    I have got a problem about post goods issue. When post to a past GI date, the system said "Delivery date cannot be met, forward scheduling to delivery date 10.07.05 00:00 Message no. VL127" and post to today date automatically. It should not allow to post.

  • PR Delivery Date MRP Forward/Backword planning

    Does system ensures PR Delivery date is always working day ? Please see below examples
    Backward planning:
    Requirement Date: 03/05/2010 [Monday]
    Suppose GR Processing time = 0, Planned delivery time = 1 Day, purchase processing time = 0
    Now what would be PR Delivery date? by calculation it must be Saturday isn't it [03/052010 - 1 calender day]
    Forward Scheduling
    PR is created to day [28/04/2010]
    Suppose Purchase processing time = 0, GR Processing time = 0, Planned delivery time = 3 Days
    Now What would be PR Delivery date proposed by system? by calculation it must be Saturday isn't it [28/04/2010 + 3 calender days]
    Please Suggest

    Hi,
    Forward Scheduling
    PR is created to day 28/04/2010
    Suppose Purchase processing time = 0, GR Processing time = 0, Planned delivery time = 3 Days
    +Now What would be PR Delivery date proposed by system? by calculation it must be Saturday isn't it 28/04/2010 + 3 calender days+
    System will ensure that PR delivery date will always be a working day
    In the above case the delivery date will be 03/05/2010- monday, since 28/04/2010 + 3 calender days will be a saturday and considering saturday is a holiday , the delivery date will be 03/05/2010- Monday.

  • Disable forward scheduling for a specific material

    Hi experts.
    We have a requirement to disable forward scheduling for a specific material during ATP check in sales order and delivery processing. I played with some configurations in "Basic functions > Availability check and transfer of requirements" and "Basic functions > Delivery scheduling and transportation scheduling", but none could help.
    Notice: we use APO.
    Example:
    Material X - has 108 pieces in stock and a production order of 1000 pieces scheduled on Feb 11.
    If I place a sales order of 109 pieces with requested delivery date of Feb 8, I need the system to not confirm this quantity, instead of confirming the quantity on Feb 13, as of standard behavior.
    Regards,
    Fábio Scaravelli

    Unfortunately, I do not know much about APO. However, I had a quick look and saw the the function responsible for scheduling in APO is /SAPAPO/APO_SCHEDULING. Within this FM, there are two user exits called:
    EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLVCRM_001
    EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLVCRM_002
    I am unsure if these can be utilised to achieve the desired behaviour. However, they may be worth investigating.

  • Showing non-MRP relevant Schedule Line category in MD04

    We have a business requirement to show Quotations of non-MRP relevant schedule line category in MD04. We are at an initial stage of design. Is it possible to use any of the user-exits (during MD04 opening) that we can use to display such elements ? We were unable to find any workaround with the Select Filter option.

    Hi,
    You might need to use program: SDRQCR21 to delete those faulty SO which appear in MD04. You may go to tcode:SA38 to run the program.
    You may refer to my printscreen below for better understanding if you wish to.
    Thanks.

  • Trans duration not consider during Preq forward scheduling

    Sales order is created with Make-to-order configurable material
    Variant. During the planning process, the raw material is issued from
    one facility to the facility specified on the sales order using STO
    process.
    During CTP process (backward & reverse strategy setting,), while doing
    the backward scheduling, system considers the transport duration from
    the transportation lane and calculates the correct requested date for
    the raw material.
    If there is no capacity available to make the raw material on the
    requested date system is expected to carry out forward scheduling. The
    system then updates the planned order that consumes raw material correctly.
    While updating the Preq the system does not consider the transport
    duration from the transportation lane. The availability date on PurRqs
    and the requested date on the PReqRel is same.
    Has anybody seen this issue?
    Kedar

    Guys,
    We found that the transportation time is considered in forward scheduling of a PReq when we have a transportation resource. But it is not considered when we have GR/GI time in product master or in Tlane(only the GR).
    Has anybody gone through this issue?
    Kedar

  • Back and forward scheduling

    hi gurus,
    Is there any control key that how the system moves from backward scheduling to forward scheduling
    thanks
    raju

    Hi,
    There is no control key for the system to do backward or forward scheduling.
    these two are dependend on the material availability date and requested delivery date.
    If the stock of the material is available , the system will do the backward schedule , if there is no stock the system will do the forward schedule.
    the difference is the schedule line items in the sales order.
    if one schedule line item then backward , if two schdedule line item in the sales order is two then forward scheduling
    thanks

  • Dirrerence between backward scheduling and forward scheduling

    hi Friends,
    This is madhusudhan i need diff b/w backward scheduling and forward scheduling
    plz do  the needfull asap

    Hi,
    Backward scheduling is the calculation of deadline dates: the arrival time at the customer site is calculated as the earliest possible goods receipt time at the customers unloading point on the requested delivery date. All four of the delivery and transportation scheduling lead times are subtracted from the customer’s requested delivery date to determine if this date can be met.
    The transit time, loading time, and pick/pack time are subtracted from the customer’s requested delivery date to calculate the required material availability date.
    The system calculates backward scheduling as follows:
    Requested delivery date minus transit time  = Goods issue date
    Goods issue date minus loading time = Loading date
    Loading date minus transportation lead time = Transportation scheduling date
    Loading date minus pick/pack time = Material availability date
    Forward scheduling is also done if no product is available on the material availability date calculated by backward scheduling. The system does an availability check to determine the first possible date when product will be available. This new material availability date forms the starting point for scheduling the remaining activities.  The loading time, pick/pack time, transit time, and transportation lead time are added to the new material availability date to calculate the confirmed delivery date.

  • Process order - Forward scheduling

    Hi,
    I need a clarification on scheduling in process orders for below mentioned scenario:
    SO is created for a future date
    MRP run
    Planned order is created (scheduling for planned order not done)
    Planned order converted to Process Order
    My query is how the dates of process order will differ in case of forward schduling.
    whether start date of process order will be as per basic start date of planned order or the start date of process order will be current date?
    regards,
    Mohit

    Dear Mohit
    Converting a Planned Order into a Production Order
    If material requirements planning has already created a planned order for producing the material, the basic dates are copied from the planned order and the order start and finish dates are determined in a new scheduling run. If necessary, reduction measures are carried out.
    Creating a Production Order Manually
    If no planned order exists and you create the production order manually, the scheduling type determines which basic dates you have to enter.
    If you enter both basic dates, the system tries to adhere to these dates when carrying out forwards or backwards scheduling. If necessary, the system also carries out reduction measures.
    Regards
    Sachin

  • EBS R12 MRP Back Scheduling

    Business has not been able to set up MRP for back scheduling logic. Business question - was If the fix LT is 5 days then my DJ will go back or forward 5 days.
    So, why are my DJ’s not going back 5 days?
    Advice given that is not always working was -
    The issue is caused by the an incorrect routing setup. The assemblies routing resources are not scheduled and/or there was no "time" in the routing steps.
    Change the routing resources to scheduled and ensure the correct rates are in place for all routing steps.
    1. Navigation path: Bill of Materials > Standard Operations, using an existing operation for a job that exhibits the bad behavior with start & completion dates.
    2. Select the appropriate operation and click on the Operation Resources button.
    3. Click on the Scheduling tab and check the value for the Schedule field. If it is not already Yes, make it so.
    Question to forum thread is if there is another MRP based configuration that must be set to automate back scheduling of planned orders.

    Thanks Rod and thanks for your great integration to EBS document btw, it had help me allot getting my own SSO solution working.
    I ended up doing this for the LOGOUT routine and it works:
    l_url := fnd_profile.VALUE('APPS_JSP_AGENT') ||
    '/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=OAHOMEPAGE';
    owa_util.mime_header('text/html', FALSE);
    owa_util.redirect_url(l_url);
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := TRUE;
    For some reason I had to change it a bit, the OA_HTML worked, the servlet URL did not.
    Could be that I am still testing in my R11 env, still have to move it back to R12.
    I also found that this worked too, though I liked the OAHOMEPAGE more as its simpler. But included this for anyone else that may be interested.
    l_url := apps.icx_portlet.createexeclink(p_application_id => 809
    ,p_responsibility_id => 56616
    ,p_security_group_id => 0
    ,p_function_id => 16524
    ,p_url_only => 'Y');
    owa_util.mime_header('text/html', FALSE);
    owa_util.redirect_url(l_url);
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := TRUE;
    In this example I hard-coded the IDs (as I was testing) but you can get them out of the session easily enough.
