MRP Lot Size Difference

Hi All
In OMI4 ie. MRP lot size procedure i see several MRP lot sizes i.e. EX, WB etc....
But only major difference i find is in terms of scheduling i.e.
Blank (Requirement date = delivery date), 1 (period start = delivery date), & so on i.e. 2, 3, 4
Can anyone tell how it works?????? What is its significance
Example would be very good for me
Please suggest
Rgds

Hi Vicky,
Requirement date = delivery date
Planning or procurement proposal will create on req date
Period start = Delivery date
Planning or procurement proposal will create on period start.
ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.
WB means weekly lot size ie, on Monday cumulated requirement will create for that week. Same for MB, month end planning proposal will create.
Period End = Delivery date
ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.
On Saturday cumulated requirement will create for that week if you use WB. Same for MB.
This concept will not work if you use planning time fence.

  • MRP lot size to WB

    Dear All,
Despite changing MRP Lot Size to WB (Weekly Lot Size), MRP result continues to show monthly lot qty for both IndReq and PurRqs.  I am expecting to see WEEKLY lot qty/size instead.  Please clarify if by changing to WB (Weekly Lot Size), should users see weekly qty per month?
    Amit

    IN MD61 or MD62
Enter the period and  enter Planning period as W - week and enter Week wise Plan
IF U have only Monthly plan
Then Maintain planning period as M - Monthly
    and enter
after entering the month plan in the period
    go to schedule line tab
With respective to monthly plan enter W in split
system will split the monthly plan into Week

  • Question on MRP lot size.

    Greetings Gurus
I have a question on running MRP and lot size. We would like to run MRP for our horizon period of 4 months.
Basically, we want SAP to create a single purchase requisition for any requirements that falls within this 4 month period,
But any requirements that fall outside of this, we want SAP to exclude (horizon MRP group set to 4 months)
I am having difficulty making this happen.
I think it may have to do with my lot size definition. Icopied lot size MB and changed the no of periods to 4.
    But when I run MRP (@MD03, Processing key = NETPL, Create PR= 1, DelScd = 3, everything else = 1),
it creates 2 requisitions, one for theimmediate 4 month horizon period, but then it creates another requisition for the next 4 month period.
When I set my lot size to MB, it creates everything within the single 4 month horizon period as I expect, but it breaks it up into
    requisitions by month.
Any advice on how I can accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Ken

    Hi Ken,
Txn Code OMI4, make a copy of lot size MB to say Z3 & give a description as required, then change the value of No. of periods to 3 & save. Now you can assign this in your Material Master.
you need copy as Z3 from MB and also assigned to material master (view MRP1), and the short term parameters as per below:
    - No of period = 4
    - Lot size proced = P
    - Lot size ind = M
    - Scheduling = 1, else <blank>
For further any issues pls share with us.

Do you mean you can see all the lot sizes but system is not allowing to select or you can see only EX? Because only "EX" lot size doesnt require further data. But if you select any other lot sizes like "FX - fixed lot", you also need to enter the fixed lot size value in fixed value. if you are dealing with CBP, below are the important lot sized to use.
    Lot-for-Lot Order Quantity
    Fixed Lot Size
Replenishment up to Maximum Stock Level
Check this SAP site to know more

  • MRP: lot size procedure

    Hellow everyone,
I have to configure MRP for some materials. The problem is that we need to create an automatic purchase requisition when the stock level goes beyound a certain safety quantity and the proposal must be a result of the average quantity of the last three months sales plus a 20 percent. Example: the last three months sales average = 5000 kg then the quantity proposal must be 5000*1.2=6000kg. I also don't know if I can configure this in standard SAP or if we need the help of an ABAP consultant.
    Thanks!

    hi,
for your requirement there is the concept of range of coverage. this is nothing but the dynamic safety stock.
    please follow the link
Coverage Profile Settings - Min field ( Range of coverage)
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPLO/Dynamicsafetystock+calculation
and there are many in this regards.

  • Difference between batch and lot size

What is the difference between batch size and lot size. How do these quantities relate to production planning &  machine capacity planning.
    Regards

    Hi,
Lot size: Some times specific materials are not referred individually but are represented in groups or lots.
When we maintian BOM/production version/routing it is sometime convinenit to maintain compoenent  qty / operaion times ect..  for speciifc lots .. we also call them base qty.
we can create different master data for different lot sizes and it is consider in auto selection of this master data in production orders.
MRP can also intiate procurement / production in speciifc lots and this lot size in size is maintained in material master ans lot sizing procedure is maintianed in MRP customiziation.
Batch Size: some times batch size and lot size can be interheprited same in busienss langauge but they have fundamental
difference from SAP point of view. .
In SAP Batch is homoginious non reproducible Unit of  material. The batch zise depends on GR qty of the specific batch.

  • Configure lot size for MRP

    Thanks alot
    Rgds,

    Hi Vivek,
I copied the Z3 form MB, and changed the no of periods into 3. and there're no difference between material assigned with Z3 or MB.
We haven't activated MRP4 view, do I have to activate that view first to make this happen?
for your additional info, I use MRP type (configured) based on ROP.
    Pls help.

  • MRP Type P1 & Lot size PK

    Dear All,
    This is REM scenario,
    Client is going scheduling agreements
    material master Settings
    MRP Type - P1
    Planning time fence - 10
    Lot Size - PK
    Procurement type - F
GR Processing time - 2 days, No plad delevery time maintained.
in planning calendar we are going with only one day as Friday
and we made previous day is working day if friday is holiday.
After MRP system is proposing dates for schedule lines as
    16/06/2010 ( wednesday ) Rescheduling date as 07/06/2010 ( Monday ) ( Rescheduling in i.e 10 )
How system is proposing this dates
Please share your views or if required more info then revert back
i cannot upload Docs as my company policy is not allowing
    Regards
    Madhu

    Hi ,
    Bring process forward (reschedule in)
Within this rescheduling horizon, the net requirements calculation checks whether, after a requirement, a firmed receipt exists, which can be used to cover this requirement. Then the system displays a rescheduling date as well as the exception message Bring process forward for this receipt. The net requirements calculation then uses this receipt and the system will only create another procurement proposal if the receipt quantity is not sufficient to cover the complete requirement. Several firmed receipts can be used to cover one requirement.
It does not take in to account the GR processing time and it is purely based on the stock requirement date , parameters in Procurement and Scheduling in the Material Master
So it will consume the requirement  backward scheduling and bring the Process forward.
Kumar which  strategy are you using ?  scheduling agreement is of weekly , daily or monthly bucket ?
How many days SA bring to Production and How many days SA for forecast you are doing ?
Are you using any Program to convert these SA in to PIR and upload ( using any program ) .

  • MRP run on basis of lot size

    Dear all
I have two different lot size routing for a inhouse product are 0-2000 and 0-1500 nos . I planned for 5500 nos  , after MRP run system should create planned order as per selection of lot size as 0-2000 for 2 planned order and 0-1500 for 1 planned order .is it possible ?
    thans in advanced
    regards
    siva

    Dear,
Quota arrangement can be used if the demand (100) is created in which is define the ratio 60:40 but it will create two planned order after MRP Run. Go to transaction MEQ1 maintain a quota arrangement for this material. In MRP 1 view choose lot size with quota splitting and in MRP 2 view maintain quota usage as 4.
    Refer this thread
    Re: Quota Arrangement
    Please try and come back.

  • How to know if a MRP run element is using Quota Arrangement and lot size?

    Hi all,
    Two questions:
    A) How to determine if a source is actually pulled from Quota Arrangement?
I am wondering if there is anyway from ABAP table or from Transaction (i.e. Purchasing Order) in which the source is pulled from a Quota Arrangement?
We use scheduling agreement, PIR and source list, and as well as Quota Arrangement for our purchasing.
I just want to know how, from system (table and transaction), to find out the source is from quota, not from PIR or others.
    B) Quota Arrangement still can work properly if lot-size procedure's splitting quota indicator not Checked?
If my the lot-size procedure which I am using for a material does not activate the splitting quota indicator, it means split quota will not work during MRP run.
But does this also mean that quota arrangement will not be working for this particular material even if I have create a a quota arrangement object (via MEQ1) for this material?
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Tomek,
If I want to use the split quota, it seems there is some pre-requisite.
If you go to MEQ1 and press F1's on the "Minimum qty split" column, and you will notice the following message.
Allocation by quota using splitting quotas is only carried out via a requirement planning run, subject to the following preconditions:
Through the appropriate entry in the field Quota arrangement usage (on the MRP data screen 2 or Purchasing screen) it must have been specified that a quota arrangement is to be applied in the planning run.
The indicator for the splitting quota must be set for the the lot-sizing procedure used for materials planning purposes in Customizing.
Hence, the quota arrangmeent still workable even if the lot-size does not have the spliting quota box checked?
Indicator: Splitting quota in short-term horizon
The indicator for splitting is used to determine that in the case of the selected lot size, the quota arrangement is to be applied using the splitting logic.
    Use
If this indicator has been set, the lot is split up in the planning run according to the following formula:
                                quota for source X
    Quantity for source  X = --------------------- * requirement
                               sum of all quotas

  • MRP run with lot size as per prod. version and capacity levelling

    Dear PP experts,
Hi, We are working with strategy 10. For SFG and FG produced inhouse we have created BOM and recipe with production version.
    For example:
I have a production version with batch size as 100 Kg.
I load PIR for 500 Kg in MD61.
I have maintained lot size as EX in the material master but I have not defined mini. and max. lot size.
Is it possible during the MRP to consider the production version batch size if the mini. and max. lot size is not maintained in the system and create 5 Planned Order of 100 Kg each.
I know, how it can be done by using lot size in material master or by maintaining schedule lines in MD61 or by maintaining quota. But if nothing is maintained is it possible for the system to create 5 Planned orders as per the production version batch size.
Pl. check if this is possible and revert back.
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi
No, system will not consider the size that maintained in the production version  for the creation of planned order while the mrp run .
This lost size is used to validate the bom/ routing combiation for the particular  pv of the material

  • MRP Settings - Minimum Lot size / Saftey stock /Lot Size

    Hi
I am confused about some of the settings , We set M1(Monthly lot size ) and PD MRP type settings, We maintained the Minimum lot size as 2500 lb and the safety stock as 300.
I tested by changing the Parameters , I am confused.
    Please clarify me
Did MRP is going to suggest the PR once if the stock went below 300 ?
Did MRP is going to wait for the PIR to get accumulate the Minimum lot size settings ?
What will happend if the time bound is beyond a month ?
Please help me to understand the concept
    Thanks

    Hi,
Use tcode OWD1 to create rounding profile.
Select create icon for creating new rounding profile.
    Input new profile name.
In that Threshold value & Rounding value is available.
    Input your value & save.
In MRP1 view give the input of rounding profile.
Example given below for easy understanding.
    Threshold value  Rounding value
        1- 20 -
    >                20
      60- 100 -
    >              100
      900-1000 -
    >           1000
      8000-10000 -
    >     10000
If your requirement is 7, it will convert to 20.
If your requirement is 23, it will convert to 40.
If your requirement is 76, it will convert to 100.
If your requirement is 435, it will convert to 440.
If your requirement is 844, it will convert to 860.
If your requirement is 910, it will convert to 1000.
If your requirement is 8045, it will convert to 10000.
    Hope it will helps you.

  • MRP with LOT SIZE as "MB"(Monthly Lot Size)

    Dear All
When I am Running MRP with  LOT SIZE  as "MB"  (Monthly Lot Size)
    System Is raising Planned Order,
My requirement is instead of Planned Orders I need system to raise Purchase Requisition
    Regards

    Hello ,
It is because of the procurement type "X" in MRP 2 view of material master . IF you change it to "F" , your problem will be solved

  • Lot size procedure & MRP

    Dear All,
What is Lot size procedure and how it will affect during MRP run?
Please provide some example against explanation.

    Suppose,
    Avaialble Stock= 50
    PIR 150 on 25/06
    PIR 60 on 27/06
    When you run MRP,
                                 Avaialble stock
    PIR 150 on 25/06       100
    Planned ordre 100       0
    PIR 60 on 27/06         60
    Planned order  60        0
For 1st PIR, The NEt requirement is 50-150=-100, So planned order for 100 is created.
For 2 nd PIR, the ner requirement is 50-150-60+100= -60, planned order for 60 is created.
In toto, net requirement = Stock-total requiremens+ Total receipts

  • Default lot size for MRP type

    Hi,
Can we set default Lot size for MRP type ?
    Regards
    Karthik

    Dear,
Yes you can do it by creating material master with MRP Pofile.
First you need to create MRP Pofile in MMD1 where you need to define the LOT SIZE and MRP TYPE which you want then make these value as Fix Value.
Then Create material master MM01 with this MRP Profile and check your result.
