MRP message 20

Dear gurus,
i need find the all MRP message 20 ( Cancel process) . This message exception is of group exception 7 , but if i set the group exception 7 in the MD06 the system find also the message exeption 10,15,30.
Are there a standard report for filter the exception single ( example 20 ) in the all the material after exsecution MRP?

Hi Daniele,
I don't think that there's a standard report for that; so either you write your own, or you could do something else, but it is more that just a report, so consider it carefully: you can change the grouping of exception messages (in customization of MRP/Evaluation), in such a way that, for example, in group 7 you have only message 20.
This way you can use MD06, or any other standard transaction to detect messages 20 only.

MRP Exception Messages - Best practices

Dear colleagues,
I am currently dealing with a large SAP installation where system is already live in 50+ countries and the number of manufacturing plants are in hundreds. MRP generates exception messages but the volume is significantly high. Planners have lost faith in these messages thus the client is not getting the full benefit of reacting to MRP exceptions.
Have any of you dealt with similar business situations? If yes, what best practices and what system design have you put in place to simplify the process of resolving exception messages.

Hello Pavan,
MD06 should be the planner's best friend as it helps him be on top of all the future expected shortfalls, talk to production schedulers or Vendors to bring material on time for production/deliver to customer.
Best way to handle exception messages in a plant is to divide it by MRP controllers, procurement types external or internal.
Planners have to analyse MD06 after every MRP run if possible. Atleast once a week go through their MD06.
However as per my experience most places the material master planning data is not as clean as the planners would like to have. But MD06 offers them an opportunity to update the material master as per their choice. ie planners can change planned delivery time, mrp lot size, mrp type etc..
You may have to find out why the planners have lost faith in MRP messages. System(MRP) can give you a good result only if master data is good.

Update MRP Exception Messages...in Oracle Database

Hi All,
I am working on MRP Exception Messages.
I am using the BAPI_MATERIAL_MRP_LIST for my MRP Messages.
For the above BAPI The Inputs are 1.Material Number 2. Plant.
I have the Plant and Material numbers (57,000 i inserted using BAPI_MATERIAL_GETLIST) Tables With Data in my Oracle Database.
I would like to update the MRP Messages Table in in my Oracle Database.
My logic is I took the plant numbers and put into the repeater and the same Material too. I am giving linking the both to BAPI inputs,material and Plant. Is it right what I am going?
Can you give some ideas how to do it.

View & Action Cross Plant MRP Exception Messages

We have a centralised storage facility and we have chosen to control all of the conversion of Planned Orders to Requsitions and then on to Stock Transfer Orders from the Supplying Plant. However we do not currently have the ability to view and action MRP Exception Messages from the Ordering Plants.
We use MD06 to action the Supplying Site MRP Exceptions but this can only look at one Plant at a time.
Does anyone know a way of viewing and actioning MRP Messages across multiple Plants?

pls try below selection method in TCode MD06
then you will get exception message list of materails only within plant (don't enter MRP controller, enter only plant)
MD06 --> Plant --> Tab Restrict Selection --> Exception Groups --> select all group ( check box tick 1 to 8 ) --> then Excute
it will solve your problem

Material/Location specific exception messages of MD04

Hi,
Any pointers to get a report of all exception message in for specific material,plant combinations so that those can be targeted for correction .
i.e. In MD04 for a material at location we can see the exception messages ,do we have any table or report to get a consolidated messages so that one need not to load each and every product in MD04 .
I am not looking for a MD06 or table of standard list of MRP messages.

Your question is not clear; MD04 is a dynamic report, meaning that it's content cannot be read from a database table (at least not all of it).
The static alternative (in my opinion even better for exeption massages) is the MD05 MRP list. It exists in the database, and so can be read and processed in the way that you want.
By the way, both have also BAPIs to be used.
So, what is that you are in need of?

MRP alerts in APO Amon1

Has anyone tried to pull R/3 MRP alerts into the APO alert
Monitor? One of the SAP notes I found says that we have to
create "user views" in R/3 and once we do it, these user views
should show up in APO Alert monitor ( in MRP Alerts profile
tab). Can somebody please let me know where these user views are
created in R/3? I am on SCM 5.0.

Can I ask the reason why you folks even considered pulling MRP alerts into APO ?
Our scenario here is that we have SNP for medium to long term planning and the short term planning(30 days out) is integrated with R/3 PP(No PPDS). Here are the reasons why I was even looking into pulling MRP alerts into APO:
1) MRP messages are very detailed and order specific and they also tell the user whether to schedule an order in or out.
Do you think there is a way for SNP Alerts to do this? I know that SNP is not meant for that but was just wondering if there is a way to do give out alerts which have detailed information(order specific and whether an order needs to be scheduled in or out) like MRP Messages.
2) These messages show up only in MD04 interactively and the idea was to pull these messages into APO and use the Alert notification functionality within APO to notify users.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Error in MRP Run- Background Job.

Hi PP Gurus,
I defined scope of planning for two plants and defined counter too. And set background job through Transaction code MDBT taking 24Hrs as Schedule selection parameter.
When I'm accessing MDBT after 24Hrs system is throwing following messages in Scheduling log:
1. Please check the destination for Parallel MRP (message no. MD251)
Diagnosis of Message:
No destination have been entered in Customizing or none of the destinations (application server) entered are active. In Customizing for MRP, you define the logical destinations (servers) to be used for parallel processing.
2. Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE (Message no. 00564)
Though I tried to enter to Customization through Message no. 1 but system is not allowing for it.
What could be the problem. No help is available through any OSS note also.
Please suggest the required solution in terms of Configuration or any other changes?

Hi,
Two more queries:
1. If I don't want to go for Parallel Processing MRP, I don't have to select 'Parallel Processing' in Transaction code MDBT variant. But when I'm trying to change it system is not allowing me. It's not allowing me to go further without selection of it. What could be the reason behind it? Either Customization problem or any other?
2. If set 'Parallel Processing destination' through Customization, system is giving only Development server as available destination and also Customization Request is getting generated. But the request is going to be transported to Production server. Since Parallel Processing destination was selected 'Development server' earlier and now MRP will run on 'Production server', it has to be changed to 'Production server'. But as already mentioned Customization Request will be getting generated and further it is freeze for Customization. How could get rid of these issues?

Donot want to fix the schedule lines at an Early date even P.O is the creat

If a material is sourced via a Scheduling Agreement, then MRP automatically creates schedule lines for this to meet MRP requirements.
However, if a separate PO is raised for the same material (irrespective of the supplier) at a date after one or more of the scheduling agreement schedule lines, MRP creates a message to reschedule in the PO in front of the schedule lines even if this is known to not be possible. the result is that the schedule lines for standard supply are not put in early enough.
And We don't want to fix the schedule lines in a t an early date to over come this.Is there any settings for the same.

If you want to control MRP messages for rescheduling you can make settings in tcode : OMDW either at plant level or MRP group level.
You can introduce Tolerance value forward & Tolerance value for displacemt in No. of days here.
If system finds requiremnts within the tolerance no of days it will not create MRP Exception messages. This way you can avoid unwanted messages.

Reorder Point Planning

Hi all,
Business Process is:
1. I am having 6 plants assigned to a single company code.
2. I had created material "A" and assinged to all 6 plants with
different manual reorder points, selected MRP type VB,.
Plants:                    1000      1010    1020    1030    1040    1050
Sloc                        A100     B100    C100       D100   E100   F100
reorder point      100         20        30       25        18       32
i have defined all MRP plant parameters for individual plants:
From my central stores A100 at Plant 1000 the stock will be issued to remaining all Plants, so central stores-in-charge will run an MRP daily or weekly, as we have set different reorder points for the same material at receiving plants
(1010, 1020,1030,1040,1050) so system first triggers the shortfall at all receiving plants and later triggers the Supplying Plant 1000.
Requirements:
1. If the avaialability stock at sloc B100 at Plant 1010 is 15, after running MRP the system is able to create an Auto PR for 5 quantity,. so its working fine,,,,
but my client requirement is:
if the avaialability stock at various plants are:
Plants:         1000      1010   1020   1030   1040   1050
Sloc        A100     B100   C100 D100   E100   F100
reorder point   100         20       30      25      18        32
avail stock          250         15       40      32      29        35
diff stock      +150          -5     +10      +7    +11       +3
so if we observe the above table,,, we can see the difference stock (Avail stock - reorder point) now if my stores-in-charge runs an MRP, a PR for 5 quantity at Plant 1010 is generated, however we are having excess stock at different plants.
what we want is, if my stores-in-charge runs an MRP, no PR should be generated to any Plant except a message saying that at particualr Plants(1020,1030,1040,1050) there are excess quantity of (10,7,11,3) at their individual storage locations.
i am not having much idea about MRP run,,,
1. how to map the above business process in system?
2. if i use planned order concept, ie. during MRP run a Planned Order for a Plant will be generated later my stores in charge will convert this planned order to purchase requisition based on the stock availabile at different plants? so how to work with planned orders/
3. Can i do total mrp run for all plants (1000,1010,1020,1030,1040) at a time?

1. In OM0E i have defined planning scope and assigned 6 plants as sequence.
2. In MD01, i have selected the same planning scope, create purchase requisitions - planned orders, i have'nt selected any Plants.
3. system has given a msg that planning run scope is only possible through parellel mode, now i have selected the parallel processing check box.
4. after pressing enter,, system gvs me the following msg,,,

How can I control the creation of planned order? I want to block the creation of planned order if the BOM or routing is not exist.

I think this can be done using 'Material status' try the following and let me know if it works.
Create a new material status in transaction OMS4 (like R1 - "Created but BOM and Routing not maintained" )and in the details screen select Option "B" for MRP messages.
You designate a material as a "R1 -Created but BOM and Routing not maintained" In the master record.
MRP "B" = warning
Please try this and let me know the result.

Material status in material master

Hi,
We have different type of statuses that can be maintained in material master like -
Distribution-chain-specific material status
Cross-distribution-chain material status
Cross-Plant Material Status
Plant-Specific Material Status
The settings for these are maintained as part of configuration.
Is there any possibility to further add some more control parameters in the statuses through development or customising?

What kind of control you are expecting through the material status ? We can do config and maintain new material status through the t-code OMS4.
Just to mention few of the control few of the control we can do from there are Message/Error if independent requirement is created for material , Message /Error if material is used in MRP, Message/Error if material is used in production order header, Message /Error if material used in WM transfer reqmt/posting change etc etc .
There are other plenty of option there which you can explore.

Of course. The standard MD06 transaction will display ALL MRP generated exception messages, and will take you to the individual material to allow you to determine how you wish to respond to it.
So, MD06>enter the plant. Optionally, enter the controller if you wish to limit the results by planner.
If you are interested in Sales order cancellations, then these exceptions would be categorized by SAP as belonging to the "exceptions during Scheduling" or "exceptions during availability" groups. On the Exceptions group tab, select these two items (6&7), deselect the rest. Enter.
You are now presented with a list of all materials that contain one or more of these exceptions. From the menu bar at the top, select Edit>Find. If you get a 'statistics' popup, click through. Select the 'Find Exceptions' tab.
Message 26 "excess stock in individual segment" means that in a MTO environment, you have more supply than demand against given order/items (as you would have if a cust. cancelled his MTO order). Select this message.
Message 20 "Cancel Process" means that you have a supply element that has NO requirements (as you would have if a cust. cancelled his MTS order). Select this messaege.
Message 15 " Postpone process" means that you have supply elements that are scheduled to be received earlier that necessary (as you might have if a Cust cancelled his MTS order). Optionally select this message.
Clik the green check. You will now notice that certain rows on the listing are highlighted. These are the ones that contain your problem children. Hit the "glasses selected MRP list" button.
This takes you to the first MD05 of the highlighted items. Review the problem. Decide what to do: Cancel a supply element? Push out a supply element? Leave it alone? Call customer service to discuss which order was cancelled and why? etc etc etc...
Once you are done with the first material, clik on the 'next material' icon or hit Ctrl-F2. Repeat. Continue till all materials have been evaluated and resolved.
This works for any other MRP message as well.

Exception msg in MD04

Dear Experts,
I am Having a commercial Item : 5047645, we have a production plant ZXX and distribution plant ZYY, when i execute the MD04 for this particular item with plant ZXX - production plant i am not getting any exception message 82, but when i am executing the same with the distribution plant i am getting the exeception messaage 82.. please let me know the reason for it.
And the exception message says Item is blocked - whether it means the item is blocked for procurement, how and where to check in these case, and can we remove this exception messgaes from MD04.

If you received an MRP message, it means the item is blocked for MRP. It could also be blocked for other functions.
This is controlled by the "Plant-sp Mat'l status" in the Material Master (MRP1). Use MM02, remove any status code here, or substitute another code of your choice, one that allows MRP.
