MRP Planning during Purchasing

need some favour regarding the MRP
Could you let me know what should be the better process in SAP for this client  ( Distribution Company just buy and sell  ) in making purchasing decision how much to buy and when to buy?
Based on
Confirmed back orders from customers .
(ii)   Anticipated Projected demand from customers .
(iii)  Forecast based on 3 months sales history.
(iv)  how much safety stock levels need to be maintained?
thanks for help
Purna

Hi There
You can use the MRP type- VM (Automatic ROP)
For this you have to have the past historic values,, so that you can do the MRP Run based on VM and system will decide the ROP
Check the below link for more details,,
http://www.sapstudymaterials.com/2008/05/materials-planning-procedures-in-sap.html
And safety stock exists to cover both excess material consumption within the replenishment lead time and any additional requirements that may occur due to delivery delays.
So based on your RLT and daily consumbtion(avg) you can define the Safety stock,,

  • MRP planning and Availability check

    Dear Friends ,
We are updating  Availablity check in the MRP view for all materials in materials master , While running MRP system is considering ATP check as per SPRO settings defined for Availablity check group .
Weare not conclude what is the relation for MRP run and availablity check , or  any seperate SPRO settings available for MRP on availablity.
If we not assigned the Availablity check in MRP view what will happen if  during MRP run ?
    thanks & regards
    Suresh Babu.S

    Suresh,
MRP does not look at what you have configured for Availability check. These two are independent from each other.
    As given in Help,
In the planning run, the system carries out the following partial processes:
    1. The system checks the planning file entries. Here, the system checks to see whether a material has been changed in some way relevant to MRP and should therefore be included in the planning run (see Checking the Planning File Entries).
    2. The system carries out a net requirements calculation for every material. Here, the system checks to see whether the requirement quantity is covered by available warehouse stock and fixed receipts from Purchasing or production. If the requirement quantity is not covered, the system creates a procurement proposal (see Net Requirements Calculation).
    3. Then the system carries out the lot-sizing calculation. Here, the system takes the lot-sizing procedure and, if necessary, the rounding up or down values into account (see Lot-Sizing Calculation).
The system carries out scheduling to calculate the start and finish dates of the procurement proposals (see Scheduling).
    4. The system determines the type of procurement proposals. Depending on the settings, the system creates either planned orders, purchase requisitions or schedule lines for a material (see Determining the Procurement Proposal). If you have maintained the necessary specifications for procurement quota arrangements, the system determines the source of supply which it assigns to the procurement proposal (see Quota Arrangements).
    5. The system recognizes critical situations which the planner has to processes manually in the planning results. For this purpose, the system creates exception messages and carries out a rescheduling check (see Creating Exception Messages and Rescheduling Check).
Availability check is not a planning process, it is basically a CHECK, based on the Scope of check derived for that Particular transaction, system check the availability of a material and it can confirm or propose the possible availability date.
In short if a material is defined with Check Group "KP", but with MRP type PD, still MRP would creates procurement proposals if the demand is more than the stock+recipets.

  • SAP PP-delete Production orders, planned orders, purchase requitions & othe

How to delete Production orders, planned orders, purchase requitions & other orders .
Pls send me the T-codes or Paths.
Any comments welcome   & Thanks in advance.

    Dear,
    1) Delete Production Order,
    Please refer this link,
    [DeleteProduction Orders |http://www.sap-img.com/production/how-to-delete-old-production-orders.htm]
    2) Delete Planned Order,
MD16 is the only option to delete planned orders in mass.
During MRP run if you choose - Delete and recreate plan order mode. Automatically the unwanted plan orders
    2) Delete Purchase Requisation,
Execute MD04, in that it will display the created PR's
Check in tcode MD62 whether you have any demand for that material which you are getting PRs first delete requirement here/
Then run MRP by tcode MD03 or MD02 giving input of material and plant. In the initial screen of MD03 / MD02, make field planning mode - Delete and recreate planning data
    Is that Old PR Firmed.
If yes remove the Firm indicator and Re run the MRP with planning Mode 3.
It removes the PR from EBAN.
    Now check in MD04
    OR,
Use Mass change transaction code MEMASSRQ or use BAPI (BAPI_REQUISITION_DELETE) to do the same.
    Or
Use ME57 with layout ALV, in this also u can delete PR
If you want delete PR manually then
goto ME52N --> enter PR number --> select line item --> click delete button
    or
goto ME52N --> enter PR number --> Item --> Tab Quanties/Dates --> set tick mark for closed check box
    Please check this thread,
    Deletion of SubReq
    Hope it will help you.

  • MRP Planning

    Hi,
We have an issue where the part created the purchase requistion and gets rescheduled daily and thus the Release date in the purchase requistion gets Changed daily. As of result of which, the PR is not falling within a varint which is used to convert PR into PO.
Part is not used in any BOM and there are no open orders or sales orders for this part. MRP considered this part and created a PR as the safety stock has been consumed. Now whenever MRP runs(MRP runs daily), the requirement date gets Changed automatically, though there is no entry observed in planning file.Backward scheduling is applied in this case.
Your thoughts on this issue is appreciated!
MRP type for the part is PD - MRP
    Safety stock is in negative
Planning mode 1 - Adapt Planning data (Normal) in MD03.
Planning file entry - no MRP planning type is checked
let me know if I am missing anything!
    Thanks

    Hello
On the tab "Quantities/dates" you should check the flag "Fixed ID" so that MRP won't change the requisition anymore.

  • Planned order for MPS items can be unfirmed in MRP plan

    Hi All,
I'm using SCP functionality (not ASCP) in MRP module. I run a global MPS first and then use it as supply schedule to drive mrp plans. I noticed that some planned orders (for MPS items) loaded into MRP from MPS can be unfirmed in MRP and I can enter new quantity and new date for them, whereas other planned orders for MPS cannot be unfirmed.
What is the logic behind it? How to control it?
    thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Hi Ram,
I don't think that there should be any issue due to the planned order created in the system against the PIR for the next month ....& it will not lead to improper planing even if the demand changes still we are not going for the firmed planned order....... if the PIR changes during the next MRP run then it will adjust the planned order accordingly .....
Still you want to  restrict the planning to the current month then the simplest way that  I can think of is planning horizon....
    Thanks

  • MRP planning based on receving materials on Tue/Thu

    Hi all
MRP is creating purchase requisitions but our plant receives only on Tuesdays and Fridays. How can configure the system to make sure the receiving date on ourchase requisition is always on a Tuesday or a Friday of the week.
    thanks a lot

    Hi
The requirement can be mapped using period Based MRP type
    1) create Planning calendar in MD25 for the plant giving period as 7 and week days as Tuesday and Thursday and from/ to periods
    2) Use MRP type as R1(Time Phased Planning)
    3) Assign the planning calendar u have created in Planning cycle in MRP1

  • MRP: Planning horizon & opening period

    hi MM Experts,
please, explain what is "MRP planning horizon" and what is the impact on MD03 ?
please expalin elso "the MRP Opening  period" and what's his utility ?
both of them are in the OMI8 tcode.
    thanx in advance.
    SDA

    Hi. Hope this helps.
Planning horizon is the Time period in days, MRP will consider the requirements for Planning. We can define this in number of days in OPPQ and/or in OPPR.
Simply it is = Cumulative lead time + Longest batching period.
You can define the Planning horizon in OPPQ/OPPR as mentioned above
& under MRP group then we assign this MRP group to material master in MRP1 view.
NETPL ( Net change planning in planning horizon) you will get it in MD02, MD01: With this processing key only material where the indicator NETPL has been set in planning calendar are planned. For example if we set planning horizon as 30 days then in the material in which MRP relevant changes happened in last 30 days will only be planned. This planning restricts the scope of planning or number of material which reduces the runtime of planning run. Planning horizon is the period beyond it, requirements don't generate planned orders.
    Opening Period is...
Opening period is like a "release window". The length of the opening period is the window of opportunity a planner has to convert the planned order to a purchase req.
For example - Component A has a lead time of 14 days and opening period of 5 days. Requirement on 12-22-03
    Opening Date - 01/12/09
    Start Date - 08/12/09
    Finish Date - 22/12/09
Now the planner can convert the order starting Dec. 1st, instead of Dec. 8. It basically is a buffer in the lead time to get things on order a little sooner than needed.
    Thanks.

  • Production order status and MRP planning - CNF and DLV

I am confirming a production order using CO15. I have a single operation. The control key of the operation says that there will be no goods receipt. The GR will be done seperately using MIGO to order. My order is for 24000. I do a GR for 23000 using MIGO and then do a final confirmation using CO15. The order is now in status CNF and PDLV. Now for planning in MD04 it still shows a pending qty of 1000. If I TECO the order or mark it 'delivery complete' then it is wiped out of planning.
My question is if there is a configuration setting where if a order is in CNF but not delivered it should get wiped out of MRP planning?
    thanks a lot

    John,
The problem is that doing so would lead to (business) inconsitencies and I do not advise you to TECO or DLV the order just to get rid of it.
Whilst it may not be "nice" to see it appear in MD04 it is there for a purpose - to reflect the fact that a quantity is going to be goods receipted.
    EG:
You have an order for 10  --> MD04 shows an expected GR of 10.
You do a final confimration for 7 --> MD04 now shows an expected GR of 7.
When you do the MIGO for the order for a qty of 7 , the order will disappear form MD04 - which is right.
If that order was to disappear from MD04, during yur next MRP, SAP would generate another procurement proposal to cover any requirements you may have.
As Vivek said, I would investigate doing an AUTO GR.
    Hope it helps.

  • Quota Arrangement in MRP Planning

    Dear All,
I am facing problem in foll Scenario:
I am trying to use Quota arrangement in MRP Planning.
    I have maintained foll values:
    Quota Usage in Material Master.
Quota for the material against 3 vendors in Percentages.
I have not maintained any Lot size procedures cause we are not using any batch management or Lot sizing in our company.
MRP Type is reorder type planning.
PIR is maintained for all the 3 vendors against the material being used.
    No source List is maintained.
But during MRP Run only 1 PR is getting generated against a single Vendor - which is appearing 1st in the Quota arrangement.
Kindly please suggest me why is this happening... and whether there is some note of configuration missing.
    Regards,
    Jyotsna Loomba

    Hi,
It is easier to use an example.
Lets say we have two vendors that we want equally used and they have been set up in a quota arrangement for a long time. The quota base qty will show how many have been ordered from each. So lets say that at the moment we have the two vendors both set up with a quota of 1 (to keep them equal) and the quota base qty is the same for each (lets say 10,000).
We now want to add a third vendor and they too should get an equal share of the orders. If we just add them the system will see that vendors A and B have each had orders for 10,000 and the new vendor has had 0 and so the system will give every order to the new vendor until they too have a total of 10,000.
By manually entering 10,000 to the quota base qty of the new vendor we are tricking the system into thinking that the new vendor has had the same number of orders as the existing vendors and so from now onwards they WILL all get an equal share.
I hope this helps with the clarification of the use of quota base qty?
As for the data you have just provided, the system would give the next few orders to Vendor V2.
the reason is that the other two vendors get a quota rate of 1 each and V2 has a quota rate of 8 and so V2 should get 8 times the qty of V1 and V3. The quota base qty of 80 against V2 and 20 against each of V1 and V3 means that V2 will get the next orders until their qty reaches 160 (at the proportion of 1, 8, 1).
So if V1 is getting all of the orders at the moment then there is something wrong with the set up of the quota arrangement. This could only really happen if you have set some maximumquantities or lot sizes etc. If you have not done this then I would check that V2 and V3 have valid info records etc.

  • MRP Plan - Alternate BOM vs Substitute Component

We have certain situations where ITEM B (length 5 in) can be used in place of ITEM A (length 3 in) in which just the amount cut off differs.  To be recognized in MRP planning and work order creation, should an alternate BOM be used or a substitute component?
Is there a general rule of thumb that indicates when to use which feature?

    Dear PP watson,
1.While giving the PIR's in MD61,after entering the values click on the schdule line tab page and then in
the top menu click on settings--->prod.version,now against the PIR enter the prod.version whould be
    considered.
So this will be considered during MRP run.
2.IF 2 prod.versions exists for the same lot size and validity dates then the system always picksup the
    first prod.version during MRP run.
3.IF you want the system to consider the second prod.version, then lock the first prod.version before
    taking MRP run.
4.If quota is maintained in MEQ1,then as per this you will get the output in MRP.
Points 2,3,4 is generally used if PIR's are assigned without any prod.version.
    Come back with your queries.
    Regards

I plan to purchase a Mac mini and then a new iPad.  Can I use the iPad as a keyboard and screen for the Mac mini, using either the USB connector or Wi-Fi?

I'm sorry, I should have said thru Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi.  I want to use the mini as a base station and the iPad like a laptop that I can sync when I'm home and carry with me when I travel.  Is is possible to hook these 2 up - iPad/mini, through Bluetooth?  I understand I need to use a regular monitor/keyboard/mouse on the initial install.

  • Enable billing plan to purchase requisition made in PS

    Good afternoon, Mr.
I'm generating purchase requisitions through the Project, and I'm running into a problem:
When generating the purchase requisition SAP is not taking into account the invoicing plan registered with the material component, thereby to generate an appointment request in the amount of the request for the date of need, instead of generating commitments over the time as registered in the billing plan.
How do I activate the billing plan in purchase requisitions generated in the ER, could have programmed the commitment over time.
    Att,
    André Santos

    Hi,
I think you are creating an invoice plan against the activities in a Project, When PR is created against a project system generates commitments, but this invoice will not get copied to PR, as PR is not a legal document, but when we convert this PR to PO we can copy the invoice plan into PO and can have control on this invoice plan as per milestones set in it.
In your post you mentioned billing plan, billing plan will be relavant for SD billing and it will not have any impact on commitments wrt project.
    Thank

Hi, I planned to purchase a laptop for me to use for graphic design ..could let me know which laptop would be the best for me to use ? Thank you! Pro or Air

Someday - and no one knows when that day will come - maybe all applications will be able to take advantage of the Retina display. But for the present, not many do: including all Adobe applications. There was a demo of Photoshop at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference of Photoshop running at native Retina resolutions but no one at Adobe in marketing is saying when, if or how the upgrade may be coming. It could be a week, it could be a year, it could be 2-3 years. No one knows. And only Apple app's (for the main part) are really utilizing the native Retina display.
I've seen some demos of some applications (Apple's) that take advantage of the Retina display and they're awesome. But in actually working in the here-and-now I've heard quite a few gripes, particularly on the Photoshop forum, of menus looking pixelated and/or 'blurry' so I'm not quite ready to jump into the Retina display boat just now. Don't get me wrong - others have ad are very, very pleased with their selection. But until Retina displays are available on larger monitors, the maximum work area that you're going to be able to use is 15" - and that's simply not enough room for full-blown graphic design. Then there's the cost factor - for the $4,000+ you spend for a completely full-blown Retina kit, you can get a standard MacBook Pro, 16 GB of RAM, a fast SSD and even the Apple Thunderbolt Display for the same amount.
The standard MacBook Pro isn't better than the Retina display: it's just different. And I think (and this is only my opinion - other graphic designers should feel free to jump in here) that it's the best computer that you can get for your specific purposes. And, towards that goal, I have to recommend a very good external monitor (there's nothing more annoying than having to use InDesign in a single-page mode rather than side-by-side because your monitor isn't big enough).
Remember that this is only my opinion and that others might jump in with their own. But I was in the electronic pre-press business for more years than I care to admit and we always - always - worked with at least 19" monitors (and that's back when dinosaurs actually ruled the world).
I hope that others will jump in with their comments. I'm going to follow this thread and see!
    Good luck,
    Clinton
