MRP - production order release

Hi experts,
I am new in SAP PP
currently when run the MRP, it will generate planned orders and PR's. it will calculated planned order sub compoents requirement qty also.
but i want to change settings for once convert planned order to production order once release after only need to create sub compoent PR's and planned order
pls explain what change need to do?
Regards,
Elango

Hi
This is not possible, because planning and production order releasing is two different activity. When ur release production order thats mean ur giving green signal for manufacturing or start manufacturing and when ur release the production order ur work center or capacity is get booked against that production order. So at the time of production order release if u want to plan the child item then u have to procure ur child item then u have start manufacturing so complete time ur capacity is showing as loaded then ur not able plan for other production order.

• Unique serial number during production order release for FG materials

Hi,
Actually our client is asking for serial number generation for each FG material during its production order release.
So that with this serial number he can track it in shop floor plus after dispatching to customer.
Here the scenario is Make To Order, this serial number will also be considered by SD during dispatch.
For serial number creation, I referred documents from SAP best practices(help.sap.com).
After this, now I am able to create serial number for specific material automatically.
Currently I am getting serial number with respect to material specific, i.e., serial number generating with respect to FG codes. Ex:- FG1 - 1, 2, 3, 4 and FG2 - 1, 2, 3, 4.
But as per my client requirement, they want serial number without material specific, i.e., common serial number for all FG codes.
Ex:- Sr No- 1-FG1, 2-FG1, 3-FG2, 4-FG1 - - - - according to production order releasing sequence.
Plz inform if any settings are to be made.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Arman,
I Had got solution for how to track which FG is linked to which SFG sr no, just go through the below link it also gives how to use COIB transaction.
COIB transaction usage, how to track which FG is linked to which SFG sr no
But still I had not got solution for
how to assign common serial number for all FG codes automatically
Ex:- Sr No- 1 -> FG1,
2 -> FG1,
3 -> FG2,
4 -> FG1
- - - - according to production order releasing sequence.
Whether is it automatic serial number assignment is possible or not.
Plz inform if any settings are to be made.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks Glenn Larson,
This is the first time for me for creating serial number for FG materials.
Actually our client is asking for serial number generation for each FG material during its production order release.
So that with this serial number he can track it in shop floor plus after dispatching to customer.
Here the scenario is Make To Order. So this serial number will also be considered by SD during dispatch.
For serial number creation, I referred documents from SAP best practices(help.sap.com).
After this, now I am able to create serial number for specific material types automatically.
But here the condition is client wants serial number should not be specific to material codes but should be common throughout the plant for all FG codes.
Ex:- Sr No- 1 for FG1,
2 for FG2,
3 for FG2,
4 for FG3
- according to production order releasing sequence.
Me dont know about Presort and IMB serial numbers.
Please tell me the appropriate approach I can make or any of links which I can refer.

Hi,
Pls. check for your Work Center Status in CR02 / CR03 -
> Extras -
> Administrative Data -
> Status.
Check whether it is locked or not. If work center is locked , unlock your work center from
Extras Menu--->Status--> Lock / Unlock.
Hope this may help you.

• Production order release with batch management

Dear All
Our company are going to use batch managment. But someone told us the production order cannot be released if the component with batch managment is missing (requirment is lower than stock). Is that true?

Dear,
It depend upon the setting means if you want to automatic batch determination in production order for component then system will not allow to release if no batches are available.
This setting come from MRP 2 view batch entry if you keep it blank then system will allow you to release the order with missing batch quantity also.
Please try and come back if any issue.

• Production order release Material Availability check

Gurus,
I have a production problem where the order can be released when the component for the order is in a restricted status. This is not allowed by the batch search strategy.
Here's Problem Description:
When running on version 4.6C, I have a work order created. I release the work order successfully. However there is a component that has an invalid material/batch according to the batch search strategy The material availability check shows all components available.
However, I remove the batch and the batch can not be entered because it is not correct according to the batch search strategy. I try and release and the material is added to the missing parts list.
I change the component so that it can be used.
Put the batch number back in the order.
Save the order.
Change the component material/batch so that it is no longer valid.
The order will release and it shouldn't because the material/batch is not valid.
I've looked at the following transactions and master data:
OPL8 - Order Type - Dependent Parameters Overview for my plant and order type and the check batch box is checked.
MM03 - Material Master MRP 2 view for the component to get the availability check
OVZ2 - Availability check control
OPJK - Order Control to get the checking rule for order release
OPJJ - Availability check control details with availability check and the checking rule for order release - I did not see anything here that would influence the checking based on if the batch was entered or not.
I did double check the batch search strategy for production order - COB3. Everything looks OK there.
Does anyone have any other places to check? I must be missing something. I tried OSS - there weren't any notes that I could find.
Thank you!
Michelle

• Stanging indicator change in control cycle after production order released

HI
We have MM PP interface active

Production order is created and released

• Disable certain changes in sales order after production order release

We are in the MTO scenario and are also using variant configuration. The business requirement is that after a production order has been released (REL status) the preceding sales order item should be “locked” for certain changes. Such changes would include VC and some other fields (e.g. quantity and dates). Some minor changes like texts should still be allowed.
The best idea we could come up with is to put some validation in the sales order user exits, but there are some disadvantages. It seems kind of strange though that there would be no such functionality in standard SAP (e.g. some changes in the order can’t be made after a delivery has been created). Is there by chance anything in the configuration that we missed?
I found this old thread, but it still seems to require user exits. Unfortunately couldn't find anything specifically on the production order / SO integration.
Thank you!

Hi Jelena,
Try in the userexit MV45AFZZ
(form userexit_field_modification)
Example:
select * from afpo where kdauf = vbap-vbeln
and kdpos = vbap-posnr.
if sy-subrc = 0.
select single * from aufk where aufnr = afpo-aufnr.
if aufk-loekz = ' '.
select single * from jest where objnr = aufk-objnr
and stat = 'I0002''
and inact = ' '.
if sy-subrc = 0.
screen-input = 0'.
endif.
endif
endif.
endselect.

• User Exit at Production Order Release

Hello Everyone
Could anyone tell me if there is any particular User Exit at the Release of Production Order? I have seen the list but didnt find any appropriate one.
Reward points Guaranteed
Regards
Chandra

Hello,
Another workaround could be to create a user status 'released' (REL) that is set at 'order release' and removed at ' reread master data' is done (just like the system status REL).
Attach the ABAP code to the activation of the user exit.
Other advantage is that you have another field to select in COOIS(PI). We have created user statusses in order to replicate all primary system statuses (CRTD, REL, TECO, CLSD) in order to facilitate reporting. Via this way we have a column with only one status for filtering, sorting summarizing...

• MRP Production Orders one for One

Hello All,
I have a case that when MRP creates an order for ITEM1 I need MRP to also create an order for the component requirement quantity of the order regardless of unrestricted stock.
Example
ITEM1 I have a production order for 5000 which has a component item ITEM2 to use 1000.
ITEM2 is a semi-finished good and requires a production for it to be make also.
I need MRP to create an planned order for ITEM2 for 1000 (even if I have 1000 in inventory ).
These order are always made together and left over inventory needs to be used for something else.
Thanks

I found it by using the Special procurement 52 under the bom.

• IDoc Production Order Release

Hi,
Can somebody explain how to create an IDoc automatically whenever a Production Order is released or changes made to a released production order? Appreciate it.

Hi VM,
It would be helpful for the forum if you can put across the method by which you resolved the issue. We all can then refer to your solution if we face a similar requirement sometime in future.

• Production order release based on operation

Hi friends
How to release production order based on operations ?
pl help me

Hi
The real time scenario is to select release operation wise is:
If you are expecting any change in the subsequent operations after starting of production say first opration, you will opt for this .
I do not find any advantage if you release all operations at a time in mass processing. It is as goods as releasing at header level.
Normally in such cases one can opt for trigger points in which system will release successive oprations automatically when preceding operation is confirmed.
If you want manually release the operations you can select the operation which you want release & press release button in operation overview screen.
Hope it is clear now.
