MRP run in background - ONhold

hi
Off late, the MRP background job scheduled weekly is taking a very long time. more than 4 hours and when i check the status in SM50, it shows the job shows status ON HOLD and reason as ARFC.
In SM66 , i can see the job is STOPPED.
But after a long interval it gets running and the job gets completed after several hours.
Can anyone please help me on this.

what is the planning mode being used ?
If you have performance problems which cannot be corrected by other
measures (note: planning mode 3 is absolutely unnecessary, unreasonable and
can cause damage in productive operation), the above situation can be
avoided by a performance tuning modification.
“ On-Hold – ARFC “.
That is due to Parallel processing - one application server is waiting for the other server
Before planning of a new low-level code can be started in MRP, the previous low-level code must have been planned completely.
Therefore, it may happen that only one server is working whereas the other
ones are waiting in order to then start planning of the next low-level
code.
The described behavior may be extreme if some few materials make up the
main load of the performance.
The situation becomes more probable if these materials succeed each other
in the planning file because they have very similar material numbers.
Example: 5 complex finished products whose material numbers are almost
identical make up 80% of the runtime of material requirements planning.
The performance statistics of the planning run shows that the tasks (or
application servers) were not utilized uniformly.

Either I am totally misunderstanding your statements, or your business people are misinformed.
The output of MD01 (MRP total run in foreground) and the output of MDBT (MRP total Run in Background) ARE IDENTICAL, provided you have selected the same parameters.
Neither output contains a discrete listing of open Purchase orders and Purchase requisitions.
Standard output of both MD01 and MDBT are:
1. List of materials processed, with exception messages
2. Statistics
In addition, both of these programs also write MRP records to the MRP databases, provided that the "Display Material List" parameter is set. In this case, both of these programs will produce data that can be further reviewed and managed in MD05 and MD06. MD06 is the tool that most planners use to process the MRP database info.
If you wish to see a listing of the entire MRP results (either MD01 or MDBT), then execute transaction MDLD. This will produce either a spoolfile or a printed document.
For the PO or PR listings, review my earlier suggestions.

Automatic Purchase Requisition using Reorder Point without MRP Run

Dear Freinds,
My client wants Purchase Requisition should be automatically created as soon as the stock falls below reorder level without MRP run.
Is this possible? if possible then what are the settings required.

It is not possible in standard SAP.
What is the problem to take MRP run?
You can take the MRP run in background through MDBT so system will create automatic Purchase Requisition using Reorder Point.

Elaborate in MDBT and open scheduling agreement list through MRP Run

Hi experts,
After MRP Run in MD02 i had find out the list of Purchase requisition at ME5A , based on the purchase requisition no i will create scheduling agreement not for PO, so how it is possible for the list of open scheduling agreement list through MRP Run Only?
Kindly elaborate the screen short steps at MDBT - MRP Run in background process what are possibilities > weekly once or daily basis, report run repeated purchase requisition no or not , update the daily stock status all those things ?
what are the possibles in MDBT MRP Run > Maintain conditions,type of generate reports, open reports through t.code and report converted excel or through mail recording MRP run?

Hi,
In MDBT we can create the variant and Schedule as you wish and execute .and also you can have the status of the schedule whether it is in cancelled or finished .

Production orders in place of planned orders in MRP run

Hi,
Please help me with this senario,
we receive saleorders through CRM interface then these are chnged to redistribute to different plants by changing the plants in saleorders.
we want to run and create production orders directly for these saleorders without creating planned orders.
I tried using strategy 82 but it makes the production order online, but we want it to be created after mrp run.
Is there a way to create production orders instead to planned orders in MRP run.

Hi You used Right strategy only.Use Strategy '82', Transfer requirement from CRM and execute MRP run in Background.It will generate Production order.But i didn't understand what you mean by 'Online' 3

Any difference setting background MRP run in MDBT and SM37

Hello,
Just wander if there is any differences setting up MRP run in MDBT or in SM37 to run RMMRP000? This is to run MRP at plant level in background.

Both MDBT & SM37 are having same program (SAPLBTCH) . MDBT is Foreground job as well as Background job.
SM37 is only for Background job only.
Pls let me know any further clarification.

Background MRP Run Some times Planned orders are not generating.

We run MRP in the background at plant level once in a month. Some time we do not get planned order for the material in MD04. Than we run MRP (Selected material only) manually through MD01 considering MRP control parameter 13132.Than only we get planned order. Plesae let me know why it happens? Please give your comments on this.

Dear Kundan Kumar,
First check the output list or the results of MRP run in SM37,find out for how many materials it has
throwned out error,I hope in this list you can find out the materials.
Then the next step you have to check once again the material master settings.
Instead of running in MD02,first check whether was there any issue in master data,or if this happening
repeatedly for the same materials and work around.

Unfirmed purchase reqs not getting cancelled in the background MRP run

Good morning,
The system has created Purchase requisitions for 2010 due to the setting in the MRP run. we want to change it to planned orders outside the Vendor lead time and when i run a REGEN MRP with setting 2 (Purchase requisitions in opening period) its not happening. When i run indivudual MRP with MD03 with the same setting its alright, purchase requisitions are deleted and its converted into Planned orders. Can anyone please throw some light on to make backgrouond MRP run delete the Purchase requisition and create planned orders.

You must delete the offensive PRs first. Regardless of the MRP settings, MRP will still decide that the PRs are valid and will leave them alone. It will not 'change' them into planned orders.
Run Regenerative MRP with your new settings (Create purchase reqs as '2') but also run your MRP in planning mode '3', delete and recreate planning data. It will delete all existing unfixed purchase requisitions, and then run MRP.

How to run mrp as a background job

my client is asking me to schedule an mrp run for 1 plant at 8pm.
how do i do this. can i schedule mrp in such a way that it automatically runs every day at 8pm.
is there ane report where i can get all the planned orders that are generated for that mrp run irrespective of material.

I can't imagine why a person would want to see ALL planned orders for an MRP run. If this is a legitimate requirement, you could do an SE16 display of table PLAF.
In most companies, planning workload is divided up amongst various MRP controllers. Each controller wishes to see only the planned orders that are relevant for his products.
CO41 is a transaction that is designed for the mass conversion of planned orders to production orders. However, the initial display screen is in fact a listing of planned orders. This is the type of report that a planner would be more likely to wish to review. It allows branching to MD04 and to other relevant screens which would help a planner to make the relevant decisions.

MRP Run - Planning file entry Issue

Dear All,
We are facing one problem in MRP Run. We run MRP in the background for a plant (MDBT) System is not creating planned order for few component. I have checked all relevant setting. I found that planning file entry is missing. I would like to know that how system can miss the material? How system creates & delete planning file entry ? I have some data related to this.
Last MRP run date is 22-04-09
PIR changed date on 30-04-09
MDRE Run on the 30-.4-09 at night.
MRP Run on 02-05-09 at night.
Problem reported that no planned order for the material on 07-05-09.
We have huge number of material so its difficult to check all material individually whether MRP run happend or not ?
Please let me know the possible reason for this.

Dear,
If you carte materaial or uplod materail before activation plant for MRP this may be the cause for this.
Planning File creates all the materials relevant for the planning run.
The planning run and the scope of the planning run (which materials are planned in which planning run) are controlled by the planning file.
For planning file entry use the following transactions,
MD20 : Create planning file entry
MD21 : Display planning file entry
MDAB : Set up planning file entry in background
MDRE : Check planning file entry Please run this in it will solve your problem
All materials assigned with MRP are automatically entered in planning file entry.
Depends on changes in material planning or in proposal , system will create planning file entry.
When MRP run system will consider only which materials having entry in above contents of planning file entry. After MRP run system delete the planning file entry. And again material gone the changes like GI GR on any other demand then system generate planning file enty again.

Planned order created after mrp run instead of purchase req

I am facing a strange problem about planned order being created after mrp run jobs runs in background instead of purchase req. This is happening randomly. In the material master MRP view 2 procurement type is F and in the varient for the MRP job the in Purchase requisition control parmater 1 is marked that is purchase requisition. Also planning file is having the entry once there is shortage and hence MRP run is there always if there is shortage of material.

MDBT : MRP RUN Problem

I have one storeage locaion for which i want to tun MRP run in backgruond .
Now i have cerated MRP area (STORE) as stoarge location asssigne th erespective storge location there.
Now i created scop of planning & i assigne tthat MRP area as "STORE"to scope of planning.
Now cerated varaint as "CONSUMPTION"and in scope of plalning i selcetd the scope of planing as my MRP area and saved the variant .
Now all material under this area are cinsumption baed material means everyone has MRP type as VB, reordre point and lot siza as HB, max lot qty and STORE as MRP area in material master.
NOw in MDBT i selcted the variant and click on start inmmediate i m getting mesage as "Request with variant CONSUMPTION Started"
If i see MD04 til no requirenment is genrtaed with this Run ??
1. Please tel ..where i ned to corect
2. Is there any mesage after background MRP executed ;like in MD02 planning result screen .

Please check whether planning file entry exists in MD21 also check MDAB & MDRE ?
or run program RMMRP000.
Please note With MRP type VB (Manual Reorder Point Planing) system will not consider Dependent requirement or any other reservation.
It will take care about only Reorder point.
If You have set reorder point of 100 Nos.
And dependent requirement is of 35 Nos , and available stock is 90 Nos. then at the time of MRP run system will generate PR of 10 Nos only just to cover that less qty than the reorder point of 100 Nos.So there is nothing wrong in your case.
If you want to concider Dependent requirement also during Planing run then you have to change MRP type VB to PD then check.

TCode : MDBT
click Create Variant button (specified a variant name and click continue).
Then fill in the following fields :-
Scope of Planning         : Optional (refer to Note if you want to specify a plant grouping) - This is used normally when you have multiple plants or want to limit the capability of planning run.
Plant                             : Plant Id
Processing Key             : NETCH ( This allows for Net Change Planning - you choose this based on requirement whether you want to do total planning (normally first time when you run mrp - usually not preferred in background job).
Create PUrchase Req. : 1    (choose based on requirement)
Schedule lines               : 3
Create MRP lists          : 1
Planning mode              : 1
Scheduling                    : 1
Planning date                 : default date
Click the Back button and you will be prompt Save Values.
Type in a Description and click the Save button.
After creating the variant, park your cursor at the variant and click the Schedule job button.
Fill in the Date and Time value.
Click Schedule periodically and you are prompt to choose the period.
Click the Create button and you are done.
To check, you can click the Show Scheduling button.
