MS 6117 v1.1 LX

Hello,
I am having  trouble MSI MBO, type MS6117 ver:1.1 LX6  (this is on PCB
between 1st and 2nd PCI slot, from top)
PC is unstable  and  so I changed PSU, RAM and CPU with no effect, so I
wanted to flash  BIOS, as  it is rather old, ver 1.1 (of BIOS, not PCB)
On  lower ISA slot among  others it writes
981211ECN:11D12   S/N:039975
While  booting-up, on top of screen (just  below Award writings (it is Award
BIOS on  MBO) is displayed
VMP   1.1 d.c  * MSI MS6117
on bottom of  the screen BIOS  string  is:
07/29/98-i440LX-W977-2A69JM49C-00
I  did downloaded ALL  versions of BIOS, both Award and AMI, both 1MB  and
2MB version, but every time I  attempted to flash BIOS I got  message
"wrong size" and flashing wouldn't go  on.
Latest  versions of BIOS on MSI site are:
v2.5 - Award, 1  MB
v3.2  - Award, 2MB
v1.4 - AMI, 1MB
I have downloaded  manuals,  but they are for PCB ver.1.0, mine is 1.1
For   instance, above jumper JMODE1 (which is aligned with lowest PCI  slot)
at the middle of BIOS chip I have jumper marked J2, which  is 90 set
verticali,  as opposed to mentioned JMODE1 jumper which  is horizontal, and
furthermore, J2  jumper isn't mentioned in manuals  for version 1.0 of PCB
I hope someone will  be so kind and e-mail me latest BIOS and manual for my
version  of MS6117 MBO.
Thank you in advance

well i would have said award 1.5 on that page myself

  • MS 6117 CPU Fan connector for Celeron

Hi, hope one of you guys can help me out here,
Okay, I've got a Celeron Slot 1 400Mhz/66Mhz and a MS-6117 Ver. 1.1 system board which lacks the PSFAN1 or CFAN1 connectors, it's not that the system board is damaged or whatsoever, it's just not there, ive dl-ed the manual (ver1.0) and they should be there!!.
I don;t know what to do, maybe connecting the cpu fan (original connector) to the system chassis fan jumper SFAN1.
    Any suggestions?
    Best

  • MSI MS-6117 - upgrading to Celeron 466mhz cpu

    Hi guys
I have an old box with a MS-6117 mobo running the bits and pieces you see in my sig.
I see there is a AMI bios upgrade to v2.0 which adds support for the Intel Celeron 466mhz processor.
My question is, this board only has jumpers for 233, 266, 300, 333mhz cpus ... so if I do the BIOS upgrade, and install the 466 cpu, what do I set the cpu jumper to on the mobo ?
    cheers
    Chad

The Celeron 466 has a built in 128k L2 cache, which runs at the same speed as the cpu. Although the cache size is much smaller than the Pentium of that era, the old school Pentium IIs L2 cache only ran at about half the speed of the cpu. So where the Celeron's L2 cache lacks in size, it makes up for in speed.
Many reviews and tests back in '99 reported the Celeron 466 when clocked to 525, would easily go toe to toe with a clocked PentiumII 350.
Of course against a proper 100mhz FSB cpu, it would get owned.

There are no special notes for this BIOS upgrade stipulating 1mb. Generally only the Award bios upgrades stipulate this. Just out of interest though, how can I check which size is mine ?

  • MS 6117 drivers

    Hi
I am using a MS 6117 and I cannot find the software for it. What I am looking for specifically are the drivers for the PCI Communications Device.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers

That is most likely a PCI modem and not a device on the board.
The only real software you need for the board is the intel inf , that is for the chipset.

  • Ms-6117 Agp 2x?

    Hi there
I have an MS-6117 LX6 mainboard designed for the Pentium II Processor using the 82440LX AGP set, i am trying to buy a new video card but i can't find the AGP setting for my board. I am looking at a GeForce 2 GTS but as i understand it, GeForce 2 GTS only runs in AGP 2X. So what i need to know is can my motherboard support AGP 1X, 2X, 4X? I am guessing it wont support 8X.
Funny story, i was fitting a P2 333MHz processor with my case open and lying on its side and went to make coffee, i came back to find my cat sitting in the case happily frying my 3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 and my yamaha sound card.

Thanks Wonkanobi, i didn't understand the 3.3v thing. Why cant they just call it AGP 2X?
I have been all over the MSI, Nvidia and visiontech sites trying to work this out, and now i have 2 hours to make my bid on this card.
    Thankyou for your help.

  • !!! ATENTION HERE !!! - MS-6117 with P2_Celeron_433MHz

    IMPORTANT; PLEASE HELP!..
I have MICRO-STAR Model MS-6117 VER 1.1 LX6 Motherboard. I am using Pentium II processor at 266 MHz in Slot 1.
I didn't want to change everything (motherboard, and all...), so I decided to try to change only processor (to buy a better one...) - I was thinking to buy Pentium II at 433 MHz, because I discovered that there is a BIOS update for that processor speed (for my motherboard). I assumed that it should work completely correct...  (and it does with my old processor)
I bought Pentium II Celeron 433 MHz, put it in my motherboard, started my computer, and... well... I wasn't very happy... at all...
    SYMPTOMS:
1.) When I start computer it goes excellent until it reaches "Windows 98" screen, then it completely stops responding...
2.) When I exit in DOS via F8 button (during computer startup) OR via Startup disc, programs that I use in DOS enviroment run well until they become more complex (e.g. start using sound, or starting a movie (with QV.exe program for example), etc) then - the same thing - it stucks...
    QUESTION:
What is the problem? What to do next?
Memory seems to be (is!) fast enough, I set the SW jumpers to ratio of 6.5 (processor speed selection)...
If anyone there knows how to solve this problem or point me where to look for solution or give me an advice, then - speak man, speak...

Yes... Well... First: thank you REILLY875 for a fast reply. I must say that I appreciate it very much not only because of traditional reasons, but also because of practical reasons - as I bought that processor from someone over the ad, and I want to solve this problem or give it back as soon as posible... So, thanks once again...
    About your suggestions:
I have Windows 98 Second Edition installed; but it seems it (the problem) doesn't have to do anything with Windows, as it stops responding even in DOS enviroment.
About "INTEL INF (Chipset) Drivers" - I didn't install it but I'll try to find it over the Internet...
I upgraded BIOS to support Celeron at 433 MHz, and I assume that when my motherboard was produced there wasn't such silly thing as Celeron 433MHz as it displayed the message that this (new) version of BIOS isn't known (they mentioned that it would happen in README file, and they said that it works anyway). My motherboard is supposed to support only processors on up to 333 MHz, BUT IF THEY TELL THAT IT CAN SUPPORT 433 MHz Celeron THEN I ASSUMED THAT IT IS BOUND TO WORK FLAWLESSLY!!!!.. ...Otherwise I wouldn't bother to buy the stinkin' Pentium II Celeron at 433 MHz...
How do I know whether my BIOS is 1MB or not? How do I know whether my BIOS is FlashMemory/WinBond or EPROM (or something)? (this must not be a problem as my BIOS works without problems with previous processor)
About RAM memory: I have 32MB (doesn't work well - 16MB) - year 1998, and 64MB of RAM I bought few years ago (seller told me that it's good that I bought it because it's faster than my old RAM, and that it might come in handy if I would buy faster processor)... I already tried my new processor using only the newer memory... So... That doesn't seem to be the problem either...
...Let's say that I have 80 MB of RAM...
I assume that processor (new one) should not be damaged as it always reports on computer startup...
Also - in previous post I forgot to mention one symptom - first time I tried new processor hard-disk was on ScanDisk check as I obviously didn't shut down computer properly the time before that. During checking - program reported unhandled error message (you know - the spooky ones that overwrite DOS text already on screen... It reported integer division error or something... And probably mentioned some processor's register... But I assumed that I solved that problem when I rememberd to change jumpers on motherboard to 6.5 ratio...
(I didn't try to confirm that - as after that I mostly used startup disc instead of hard-disk; (smart move - a?)) Probably it would do so again anyway...
I will try latest "INTEL INF (Chipset) Drivers" (if I find them)...
What can be problem beside that? Maybe I should set something in BIOS SETUP? Maybe I should change some jumpers on Processors adapter or my motherboard?.. Or pay atention to some other stuff?..

    update the bios
    goggle found me this page
    http://winservices.web.cern.ch/winservices/docs/InstallationWithCD/
saying bios must be 2.1 at least for windows 2000
so the same will be true for xp
    Award® BIOS   File Sizes 127KB
      Version  2.1   Update date 1998-8-5
Update Description - Added support for Celeron 333MHz Processor.
    - Added ACPI functions
im betting its the added acpi bit that matters

  • MS-6117, with a 350 PII

    Hi,
Just got hold of a MS6117 board, and a 350mhz CPU. The jumpers were already set to 266mhz and a 66mhz FSB, but the BIOS reports 233. Changing the jumpers of the CPU speed has no effect whatsoever on the BIOS speed, it continues to display 233.
Can anyone explain this/have a solution?
    Thanks.

You can try to look for a PPGA celeron, they were made upto 533MHz and will work since they use basicly a PII core with 66Mhz FSB and 2.0V core voltage.
You will also need a slocket converter card.
    PPGA celeron:
Note the metal cover and BLACK substrat.

  • Updates and drivers HP Pavilion dv 6117 eu

    Hello to you all!
I will try to explain my problems in english
For a long time my PC havn´t got any updates. When they are coming there is a square saying there is no program to receive it installed. This started about  3 yeras ago and I have tried to get some help by HP Sweden without success.
Now my PC is VERY SLOW and some internet sites tell me that my drivers are very old and that they must be updated.
Is it normal that HP stop supporting after X or X years? Or have something else happened?
As you could understand I would be MOST GREATFUL for some help from you who know about these mysical things.
Many Kind Regards from a sunny Stockholm, Sweden
    Totolina

The "space" you are talking about is the permanent storage or hard drive. The memory is something else. If you click the start button then control panel and then select system the little information box should tell you how much memory you have. As I said, likely 1 gig or even half a gig (512 mb). 1 gig is enough for Windows XP, but not enough for Vista or Windows 7.
Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP pretty soon and you are not going to find any new XP drivers for anything at this point.
Actually, that computer belongs in a museum as the last living example of its kind. HP had all kinds of trouble with that exact model series and they have failed in massive numbers. You are lucky it still works at all.
I think a reinstallation of Windows XP would do a world of good. I am just not sure by the sound of things you are going to be up to the task (no offense). Do you have any kind of recovery disk for it? Is there a Key Code sticker on the bottom of the laptop? Can you still read it? Does it say XP or Vista?
I actually just went through this with my own mother. We were forced to take away her Windows XP machine and get her a Windows 7 machine because the XP machine just had seen its better days. She has not had any problem adjusting and I can assure you that your computer skills cannot be less advanced than hers (again no offense, Mom).

  • Concurrent mailbox moves from Exchange 2007 to 2013

We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We have about 200 mailboxes and we want to move them in groups of 40-50 at a time. I am trying to get more then 1 mailbox to actually sync to the new database at once.
I start the batch with 49 mailboxes but only 1 mailbox is showing any progress when I go to details. They all have a status of "syncing" but only one has any "items synced".
I have run multiple articles about increasing concurrent migrations from 2007 to 2010 and 2010 to 2013 and they all mention going to MsExchangeMailboxReplication.exe.config on the destination server and setting the “MaxActiveMovesPerTargetMDB" value
to something larger. By default 2013 has it set to 20 would should be more than enough  for me. However despite this setting I still only see 1 mailbox syncing at a time.
Is there someplace I should be making a similar change on the 2007 box? I can't find a file with that name so I am not sure if there is something to change or if it's even needed.
Why is this not working? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Outlook will show the infamous login popup and users will not be able to access Exchange 2013 Public Folders.
You can check the Outlook Clients version in Exchange Management Shell with Get-LoginStatistics (ex. Outlook 2010):

If you have two computers on your LAN that you want to use the same ports for then you have to use a method that allows multiple computers.
UPnP is one method and easiest to set up as it is usually an On/Off setting
Port Triggering is another and needs you to know which ports iChat uses first and where it uses next to get it set up.
UPnP also tends to get around any NAT issues
Having said that the Link I sent you to earlier does not show UPnP or Port Triggering in the menu.

Which Says it does have UPnP and an SPI firewall
    *Universal Plug-and-Play (UPnP) Compatibility*
UPnP (Universal Plug-and-Play) is a technology that offers seamless
operation of voice messaging, video messaging, games, and other
    applications that are UPnP-compliant.
    *SPI Firewall*
Your Router is equipped with a firewall that will protect your network
from a wide array of common hacker attacks including IP Spoofing,
Land Attack, Ping of Death (PoD), Denial of Service (DoS), IP with zero
length, Smurf Attack, TCP Null Scan, SYN flood, UDP flooding, Tear
Drop Attack, ICMP defect, RIP defect, and fragment flooding.
This last is the most likely cause of blocks as iChat data can be seen as an Attack by this sort of "firewall" It appears on page 56 of the manual.
    UPnP is on page 67

  • Preview and TextEdit quit unexpectedly while using the EF119178 (FF) plug-in

Preview and TextEdit quit unexpectedly while using the EF119178 (FF) plug-in.
In TextEdit (1.7) I simply typed "test" in a blank document and clicked File > Print and got the error.
In Preview (5.5 (719)), the error was from a PDF.
I tried File > Save a Version and then reprinted and got the error.
I tried File > Export... and renamed the exported file then reprinted and got the error.
I tried the same items with a PDF manual for a random piece of hardware and had the same issues.
I opened Preview in 32-bit mode and printed and got the error.
I tried printing using Firefox 6.0.2, Safari 5.1, and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and they all printed fine.
I opened a .png file in Preview and when I tried to print I got the error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Printer: Canon C5185 attached to a Fiery GX-200 using the latest (from what Canon told me today) GX-200 driver.
Posting the crash log shows me that in fact it does look like its the driver misbehaving and technically it is a 10.6 driver...
The fact that Safari and other apps printed is odd or par for the course with Apple printer drivers?

  • Flash player causing blue screen upon loading video

    Hello,
I have recently bought a new system. Everything runs  perfectly except for one critical problem; I can't view flash videos or  anything played in a web browser by flash player.
Animated flash  advertisements will load to the first couple of frames, I will hear a  bit of noise and then a brief 1-2 second system hang and straight in to a  bluescreen. Same goes for youtube etc, might see a frame, if that, a  brief noise and hang/bluescreen. This has occurred since I have  purchased the PC.
I have attempted to fix the problem by updating  my graphics drivers to the latest, updating flash player to the latest,  updating sound drivers to the latest.
    System:
    AMD i5 750
    ATI  Radeon 5870
    Realtek audio
    Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
    Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 -------------> Flash player 10.1
I am just viewing the bluescreen  dump file, there is no bug check string, however it seems to indicate an  AMD/graphics driver causing the conflict.

The  computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000116  (0x85e1e2c0, 0x924145e6, 0x00000000, 0x00000002). A dump was saved in:  C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 070610-31621-01.
I don't know if it is Flash player particularly causing the problem, or if there is a conflict between it and some hardware.
    So,  can anyone help?

i'm having the same problem as the OP,
    System:
    Intel Q6600
    ATI  Radeon 4850 (drivers v10.9)
    Realtek audio
Windows vista home premium 32-bit (auto-updates)
    Chrome 6 & ie8  Flash player 10.1
    my BSOD returned the error code: 0x00000116 (0x8505F150, 0x8F1E98B0, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)
    atikmpag.sys - Address 8F1E98B0 base at 8F1E4000, datestamp today
it started before last summer, it doesn't happen often but lets just say its making me rather nervous to use youtube and other sites that use flash now.
i've read allot of people have this problem and have traced it to using flash. i hope somebody at adobe is listening and not trying to blame hardware makers or drivers about this problem.
i disabled hardware acceleration, i hope this does the trick until a real fix can be found
btw if any flash animation gives a BSOD how else could we turn it off ? Think about it for a second people
