MS-6330 K7T Pro Dead board - help??

My PC just seems to have died, and now all four motherboard Diag lights are RED when I apply power to the PC. Nothing is displayed on the monitor, it just simply won't boot at all!!
I've check the power supply & that seems to be working okay.
Looking at some of the other posts for this model of board, I see the voltage regulator could be a problem. I've checked my board and this is not hot when I leave the power on for a few minutes, so I don't think this is the problem.
Any suggestions on what to try would be appreciated?

No all was working fine before. I'd had a couple (2 or 3) of problems the day before where it just locked up, but it rebooted fine, until the final time! The machine has usually been on all day, most days over the last twelve months or so without any major problems.
I had already cleaned everything before posting. I'd also had the processor out, powered up without it in place (as I'd read this in one of the earlier posts as something to try), then refitted it (with the heatsink) and tried repowering, still without sucess, hence the post here.
Any further ideas/suggestions please??

  • Ms-6330 (k7t turbo2) dead board!

Please I need help with this...
I was installing a new cpu cooler, when accidentally hit a small resistor near the cpu.   The resistor came to be the R639.
The board does not post and the D-bracket show all the leds in red!.
The resistor is not completely destroyed, it remains about half  of it, giving a resistance of 1kohm.
I need to know if someone has a damaged board of the same type, the idea is to replace the bad resistance with a new one with the same value.
Has someone repaired boards this way?
    Any advices well received.

Give the board to a good radio repair shop and ask them to replace the resistor.

Also does any one know were can i find out what changes where done with my v2.9
    Any help much appreciated.

I should have tried search engine first, sorry.
Found the answer there, thanks wonkanoby

1.2GHz Athlon (12X100) is the highest cpu you can go with this board. Also bios v.2.9 is good. No need to flash, as higher biosies for faster cpus are for different models (K7T Turbo).
After my opinion, 2.9 is the best bios for this mobo. If you have low rpm cpu fan, then bios v.3.4 is for you.

  • MacBook Pro dead, need help urgently please!

    My mac has died. It's really urgent to fix because I have a degree project to submit in 2 days! Many thanks in advance for help;
Yesterday my mac froze up ( nothing would move appart from the cursor ). I hit the off button and my mac takes about 15-20 minutes to load up. When it does load its veeerrrryyyy sluggish and the beach ball whirls. It also popped up with a circle with a line through it, its stopped doing that since turning on and off a few times.. I tried reinstalling lion from command R at restart. This worked but didn't fully erase everything and I still have the same issue. I now can't go to the recovery menu on restart it just goes straight to log in so I am unable to fully erase everything.
    Computer specs:
MacBook pro mid 2009 running 10.7.3 Lion.
    2.66 dual core
    8 gig ram
    320 hard drive.
Any help would be most appreciated!!!
    Many thanks!

The program you download is meant to be downloaded and run from OS X on a working Lion Mac (not your sick one) to copy the Recovery HD Partiton of their Lion Mac to the USB thumb drive (properly formatted) then you take it to the sick Mac and can hold the option key boot off of it.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
Once you get your computer booted off the Recovery USB, you connect a blank external drive and install Recovery HD and OS X Lion onto that from the Recovery USB using your AppleID and password.
Once you got that done, then you hold the option key down and boot the computer off the external drive, which the internal drive can be seen when you do Finder > Go menu > Computer and click on your internal boot drive.
Then you open the Users folder and copy your User to the external drive your booted from.
Once you have gotten your User folder copied off the machine, you can choose to run the comptuer off the external drive until your ready to have it fixed.
If you can't handle all this, then call a local Mac/PC computer person to do it for you, as Apple may just replace the drive and tell you tough luck charlie, you should have made a backup.

  • Overclocking (for RAM) X58 Pro-E board - Help Please :)

    Hello,
I have purchased MSI X58 Pro-E and would like my RAM memory (Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 @1600 MHz) to run on 1600 MHz which means I would have to overclock the board from BIOS because the maximum default speed for RAM memory is 1333. However I don't know how to do it and would be very greatful if someone could tell me how to do it. Thank you in advance.

First of all, find out what timings and voltage are needed to run the RAM at 1600MHz. This information is usually printed on a label on the side of the RAM modules. Next, boot into the BIOS and locate the 'Cell Menu'. From here, select 'Advance DRAM Configuration' and on the next screen you enter the required RAM timings. Change the command rate to 2N too. Go back to the 'Cell Menu' and select 'Memory Ratio' to change the speed the RAM will run at. It will show you the adjusted speed underneath this option. Finally, further down the screen adjust the DRAM voltage to what is required to run at that speed. Save the changes and run >>Memtest86<< to check whether your system is stable. You'll need to run Memtest for at least several hours.

  • MS-6330 (K7T Pro) and GF4MX

I'm thinking of buying a GF4MX and I wont to know if there are any known problems between this mother board and the GF4MX.

    Hi,
I don't know of any problems unique to this particular combination, however I know from my own experience that the GF4 MX440 cards are rather problematic in most (maybe all?) systems. :(
If I were you, I would rather go for a GF4 Ti4200, which is somewhat but not that much more expensive, and a lot faster   , or for a GF2 MX400 which while rather cheap still have descent gaming performance.
    Best regards

  • 10.5.7 - VGA connection to LCD TV on new MacBook Pro dead. HELP PLEASE!

    I don't have a clue what's gone on here.
Just downloaded the latest update and the connection to my TV has gone mental. It changes the resolution on my MacBook screen to something ridiculous and doesn't properly connect to the TV screen.
Obviously, this is because of the new update is there anyway of going back to 10.5.6? I want to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm on my big screen!
PS I've only recently moved to Mac so could any advice be idiot proof.
    Thanks

Hi - Update for anyone that is interested. I've had a play around...
I went into System Preferences/Display and connected the TV.
The resolution still changed but I went to 'Arrangement' and deselected 'Mirror Displays' (10.5.7 to thank for that) My screen on the MacBook returned to its normal resolution but the TV was still not working.
I selected 'Display' and then 'Gather Windows' and on the TV's Display changed the resolution to 1600x1024 instead of the one 10.5.7 assigned.
Bingo! It's all back up and running!
Wish I didn't have to spend 20 mins on the phone to Apple though with no solution - that'll be added to my student phone bill! ARGH!

  • [VIA] K7t pro 2, problem installing xp.

Hey guys, great forum. I have a msi k7t pro 2 board with an amd 700mhz thunderbird processor. I'm currently running 512mb of pc100 ram,an off brand 32mb video card, and a soundblaster live sound card. My problem i'm having is when I try to install xp, after it says hit any key to boot from cd, the keyboard stops responding. After it loads the setup files and gets to the point of "to install xp hit enter", the keyboard lights go off and I get no response whatsoever.
I have tried taking my sound card out. I tried swapping ram out of a good running computer after it was tested with memtest86. I have tried 2 different ps2 keyboards to no aval. I also tried a usb keyboard, in doing so I enabled the support for the usb keyboard in my bios; still didnt work.
I'm close to giving up on this board. I have tried several other forums, but no one could help me with this issue. My bios version is version 1.9. I seen that version 3.1 had a fix for the xp install. I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is it possible to flash my bios to a newer version?
If anyone at all with any knowledge of my problem could help me out, I would be GREATLY appreaciated.

    Hello,
What video card are you using?
Try clearing the CMOS, using the jumper on the board.
Place it to the clear position and leave it there for 3mins.
Then put it back to the save position
And power the PC, reconfigure only your CPU settings/memory settings and boot order.
Then boot from the XP CD and see what happens.
Thanks a lot for your reply. Im not quite sure what video card I have but I guess it wont matter now. I did what u had suggested and it worked!!! You dont know how greatful I am that you got my computer going again.  You are the only person who has actually had an idea as to what it might be.  Who knew it was as simple as clearing the CMOS. I appreciate the help. Thanks a TON!!

  • K7T Pro2-A MS-6330, Dead board?

Hi, I've looked at all the other posts about this board and I think it's either a power supply problem, leaky capacitors, or just plain 'ol dead board.
The DLEDs stop on a random problem (it changes around every time) after the 1st boot after the system has been off for about 20mins or so.  If I turn it off and boot again right away it's always 4 red LEDs the next time, and successive times.  But if I wait for 20 mins or so and try it will be another random LED stop, although it hasn't ever gotten past video card initialization.
I have a couple of capacitors that are slightly bulgy at the top, but nothing leaking (checked the back of the board too).  In the past I have noted a chemically burning smell every once in a while, not very often.
So should I replace the power supply, fix capacitors, replace the board?
    thanks for any help,  dave

they suffer from a dodgey voltage regulator as well so its not worth it on them

( i've looked for it but dont even know what to look for ? )
    please help someone!

An Athlon XP could run in your board but it would only run at about 75% of it's clock speed due to the fact your board doesn't support 266MHz FSB.
Officially you should only use a Duron1300 or old Athlon 1400/200 if you could still find one.
A 250w PSU could limit you depending on the rest of your hardware and the exact model/ratings of this PSU.

  • K7T PRO (6330) wasted?!

    Can anyone help me out?
Today I bought an Athlon Thunderbird 1333MHz 133FSB for my old K7T-pro(bios v3.2) not knowing wether it would work or not.
At first the computer booted, but showed 1000MHz, I changed the CPU Host/PCI clock graduatly until my computer just stopped booting.
And here's the problem: After repeatedly switching the CMOS clear jumper, removed the battery(few minutes), switched to the old CPU(Duron 600), the system still won't boot. Some fans and leds works, but thats it.
    Diagnostic LED status:  X(  X(  X(  X(
    which should indicate CPU malfunction.
(I've reset the bios before succesfully for other reasons)
Have my overoptimistic CPU change wasted the motherboard, or are there other ways to reset it or whatever?

  • Problem with K7T Pro (MS-6330)

I've been used MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) for 2 years and it worked just fine. But recently the problem occurred. After I've upgraded CPU from Duron 600 to TB 1.2 GHz, when I run a heavy-loaded application such as 3DMark, 3D games (UT2003) my computer will stop working (IMO: my case just like the classic K7T Pro) but when I touched the SC1155 chip, it just warm (it won't burn my finger). So I'm confused that is my mobo defected or not?
Oh, almost forgot .. my mobo was modified and can adjust multiplier.
    FYI:
I've tried underclock CPU to 950 MHz and I've found that 950 work fine (or at least it use very long time to run full-loaded and then die). Once I forgot to plugged electric-cable for my heatsink fan and temp goes 66-68C and still working normally (not running 3D app.)
So, can anyone suggest me what is the problem with my mobo?
Thank you very much and apologize for my language  :P
    My Spec:
AMD Athlon (TB) 1.2 GHz (but now run @950MHz) VCore 1.55 (tried 1.55-1.85 result is the same)
MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) modified to adjust multiplier
    250W Powersupply
    256 MB PC133
    Winfast GF2MX 32 MB
    SB Live! Value
    Lite-on DVD16x
    2 Harddisk (40GB and 4 GB)

    Hi,
RMA the board, contact your nearest MSI office and ask for the RMA department.
There is not much more you can do.

  • K7t pro 2-a unknown beep help

I am running a 900 Mhz amd on my MSI K7T Pro 2-A. I have 512 Mb RAM, a fireball 24 gig HD, Matshuita CD-RW, Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128 (onboard audio controller non-functional), and a nVidia TNT2. I installed windows 2000, and ever since then there has been a consistent beep, one long beep immediately followed by a short beep. This beep happens EVERY fifteen minutes. I have tried everything possible to get rid of it. I checked every windows alarm, every PC Alert alarm, I couldn't find any alarms listed in Bios. I updated bios. I upgraded all of my drivers. I realized that the beep was coming from my system speaker. I finally gave up and disabled the system speaker in windows. It did not work. I looked everywhere online to find a solution. I gave up again and physically disconnected the wires from the internal speaker. Now the beep continues, only it is quieter. The only thing I can think of is that the motherboard has it's own speaker! What can the motherboard be trying to tell me??  What can I do? Can I just disconnect this "motherboard speaker," if so how?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
I have asked MSI and they replied this:
    Quote
I remember that on some of the K7T Pro2A boards
There is a feature called SmartDLED, this is the DLED using voice activation
So during the boot process, this DLED would speak, however this should not happen during windows session
You can ask the user to disable the on-board buzzer (refer to the page about front panel connectors)
If problem still persists, ask him to send the board for repair

  • Req: K7T Pro MS-6330 and CPU

Pls, I have MSI K7T Pro motherboard. In support page there is written that this MB supports Duron up to 1.1 GHz and Thunderbird Athlon up to 1.2 GHz (100 FSB) with a little older BIOS 314  . Is the info true and recent or are there any news on it and it supports at least Duron 1.2 GHz or higher CPU ?

I have the MS-6330 v5.0 board Running an XP1900+ CPU (1.56GHz). The more recent BIOS images allow for higher CPU speeds, but it is important to check the version # of you board to verify the version of the BIOS falsh it can handle. With the v5.0 boards you can use BIOS v3.6 which allows 2200+ CPU's
