HI hope somebody can help me ive been making a pc from old parts with a ms 6340 v1.0 mobo and on boot i get looing beeps from the award bios. This i know means memory error however memory does work and there isnt a seating issue.
could it be anything else??
current spec  duron 800Mhz 40Gb HDD CDRW 128Mb pc133 sdram howerver i have tried with 9 sticks of memory including pc100 only way to remove beeps is to remove all memory.
i suspect a dodgy board.
can anyone help me??????????????????????????????????????????????????/

  • Less memory after MOBO change

So with my gigabyte ga-h55m-s2h mobo, 3.4 GB ram was usable out of 4GB. When it failed, i changed to MSI H55M-E33. Now windows says that 2.99 is usable. Why did it change?
Using windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, 4GB (2x2)Apacer memory, 2X ATI HD5670 1GB in crossfire (with both mobos)
Altough 1 ram module failed with the mobo and was replaced with the same type.
    Ideas anyone?

Have you try what Jack Said before: upgrade to 64-bit OS? IF you bought Your Windows in FPP Box not OEM box, you can simply migrate to Win 7 Home Premium 64bit with the same serial number. But, you should be aware that not all your device drivers are available in 64bit.
FYI, several systems in my office are already upgraded to 4GB, but since all of the systems still using 32 bit Win 7 Enterprise Edition, the RAM results are vary: 2.75GB, 3.49GB, and 4.0 GB. Only 64bit can detect full amount of RAM correctly.
    Give it a shot.

  • KT6 Delta and memory problems

Before I begin let me post my specs:
    Mobo: KT6 Delta
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2700+ @ 166 FSB
    RAM: 1 stick Corsair 512MB DDR400
    P/S: 430W
Now that that's out of the way..... I got a stick of Elixir 256MB DDR466 today for Christmas.  Now keep in mind the KT6 Delta is only supposed to support up to DDR400, but it should still work, right?  Well, when I put in the new memory, my mobo only reads the new 256MB stick.  The old 512MB stick works fine by itself, though.  I've tried switching the sticks around and putting them in different slots, but nothing seems to work.  I even tried forcing the SDRAM Frequency to 400MHz under the BIOS... nothing.
Should there be a way to make this configuration work with certain BIOS settings?  Or will I have to return the gift?
    Thanks.

I can understand getting a problem from mixing different memory speeds, but we have 4 computers in our household and we've been mixing sizes and brands for a while now, so your post took me by surprise.  In fact, my youngest brother used to have a 256, a 64, and a 16MB stick, all of different brands, and some of which were overclocked.   From my experience I wouldn't say it "almost always" causes a problem.  I don't doubt your expertise though, you've clearly been here longer than me.  I'm just trying to understand what's going on, and this whole thing has left me a bit confused.
But whatever.  I'll see if the gift can be returned. Thanks.

  • Print Studio Pro and Photoshop Elements 12

    Hello,
I am having trouble installing the Print Studio Pro plug-in for Photoshop Elements.  I just installed Elements 12 and downloaded Print Studio Pro 1.3.0.  When I try to install the plug-in, I get a message that tells me that I do not have a supported version of Photoshop.  Apparently Elements 11 is supported but 12 is not?  When will 12 be supported?
    This is in Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Mark
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I can't make the Cannon Print Studo Pro 1.3.5 work.  I use Windows 8.1 x64, Photoshop Elements 12 (v12.1) . Per instructions, File, Automation Tools (but the automation tools is grayed out).  If I go to File, Preferences, Plug-Ins, there are no plug-in's listed.  So I checked on "Additonal Plug-Ins Folder" and directed the parth to c:\Program Files (x86)\Print Studio Pro\en\.  But that does not seem to make any difference.   Are you absolutely sure that Print Studio Pro plug-in works with Photoshop Elements 12 (v12.1)?  That is not my experience.   I think that I know what I'm doing, I work in IT industry as a technicial support specialist. Inter I74770, 13tb memory, 3tb Video, 32Gb memory, Asus mobo, etc., should be all good with software requirements.  Any suggestions are welcomed.

  • Need help with onboard settings

Hello, dont know if this is the right place for my question so if it isnt can someone please direct me to the right one.
Ok well I just bought a MSI G31TM-P21 Motherboard yesterday and I also bought a Geforce 7300GT PCI express card (i know its not the best video card) but anyways I was wondering does the motherboard have a video jumper setting? Because the bios gives me the option of PCI-PCI-E, Internal as a startup choice, but when I plug in the monitor with the new card its blank. I tried clearing the CMOS but still nothing. So again does this motherboard have a video jumper setting or does the bios have a video disable feature that I am overlooking here?
    Thanks in advance

also make sure your BIOS is up to date.
Again, DONT update the bios unless absolutly necessary  .
And furthermore, please dont give this advice first hand, some people are not that confident with computers and may wreck it by updating, cause they use the wrong way, i.e. LiveUpdate or other win based program, which can be risky.
Read how much people killed their pc, by updating bios, "just for the heck of it" or "so that Ive got the newest bios", which is a load of ......
If you have a unsupported cpu, then you need to flash, no sooner!
    @ queequeeg,
    Hello and welcome.
Try as Alex said and set card to pci-e and disable onboard vga, if you have one and try again, do not update bios, cause vga cards dont need an biosupdate prior to installing, especially an older model vga like you have, must work normal without updating.
Also please list all your specs in a signature like mine, this way we can help better, i.e CPU, PSU, with full details on amp's, memory, vga, mobo etc.

  • Help needed about upgrading

My comps specs are as follows:
    Mobo : Asus P4S533 MX 4X AGP 533 MHZ
    Intel Celeron 2.0    L2 : 128 MB
    768 MB DDR 333 Ram (512 + 256)
    80 GB 7200 Rpm Seagate
    NX 6600 GT VTD128 AGP 8X
And the problem is my 3DMark2005 score is 2332 !!!
I know this is not a big problem but what happens if i buy a new mobo and CPU?

Any 128bits ram memory controler, mobo should do, dont buy athlon 64 mobo yet, they are the lastest and in hardware we have a very important rule, allways have the second best hardware because the lastest ones are too expensive and have none compatibility, so take the nforce2, or intel 865 or superior mobo.
    P.S
If you are going to buy an intel mobo, choose the ones made from intel (good and cheap and with soundmax), and nforce2, choose the Abit ones, msi didnt made nforce2 mobos with soundstorm on the onboard audio, they use some realtek crap instead, so, this way you won't need to buy some pci sound card too, because msi onboard audio on the nforce2 mobos sucks!!!

  • Video frames  are heard during play back in the audio line (but not on the DVD)

Another problem occurs( among lots of other annoying problems which are not solved yet).  Using PPRO 5.5 in two projects now and I am very dissapointed in the quality of this software comparing to PPRO 2.0. To many problems to mention here. It works and thats all.
This is the new problem. When I play the project, the video frames "are heard" ( sounds like the old film projector transport) at low level in the audio signal together with the audio signal itself (at normal level)
This is annoying during editing, but doesn't affect the results by burning on DVD.  Is that an normal situation?  In my old PPRO 2.0 not such a problem was there. Or is there something wrong.
    Thanks for replying
    Chris

    Chris,
I'm sorry I could not find a solution. In fact I'm stumped and request the help of Todd or Wil or some other Adobe employee to help you out.
Why? The reason for requesting Adobe's help in this way is:
    a. Chris has a limited knowledge of English and works with a Dutch version of Windows, which makes it difficult to communicate on the phone.
    b. I have checked his system with Teamviewer and the system is more than adequate and is properly tuned/optimized for the task he wants to perform.
    c. I can't find a solution to help him.
    What is the problem?
System is an i7-2600K with 16 GB memory, P67 mobo, nVidia GTX 570 and 520 cards, 5 x 1 TB disks, 3 monitors, on-board audio.
Source material is simple DV PAL widescreen from a JVC camera. Sequence settings match, no problems here.
Playing a clip with WMP shows no problem, playing from the camera to a TV shows no problem, but playing from the timeline in a CS5.5.1 project results in a clearly audible rattling that is comparable to the rattling one has when projecting old 8 mm film, only louder. This was clearly audible for me over the phone.
I have no idea where to start looking for a solution, because his system looks good from all sides, is properly tuned, has more than enough horsepower to edit simple DV material.
So please Todd, Wil or anybody else from Adobe, can you help Chris?

  • Optimal Bios settings....

Good to see the forum back up....
I have a k7n420 pro based system and just stuck in a gainward GF4 TI4200 golden sample, which is working out brilliantly, I mean 3dmarks around 9065! with standard fsb etc etc.
Anyway I saw a review of the card with a very similar system (same 1800 xp processor, 512 meg ddr memory, different mobo) and assuming they hadn't overclocked anything, they were getting 1K over my marks. I don't think that the different board would make that much difference.
so my question to you all is, what should I be looking at in the BIOS to ensure the board is running optimally at NORMAL clock speeds? I've seen settings for agp apature size etc and have no idea what effect they have to overall performance with an agp card. any ideas?
    thanks for any advice
    Rich.

A lot of times reviewers test different hardware configs with an immediate clean install of windows.  You would not think it but the more apps (junk)you have that steal your ram and hard drive space will also degrade your performance.  I have always found that windows os's are a heck of a lot speedier without all this junk, XP included.  I wonder also alot of time that reviewers may get hand picked pieces to be reviewed, they use better quality ram in their machines than most of us.  The absolute worst thing you can do, though,  is download synthetic bench's like sandra and try to compare your performance to the samples of performance of a given setup.
    Sandra is a freeking liar.
Ram timings are also a potential performance boost, but I don't think they would be worth 1000 marks.
Anyway, man, don't fret.  At least it ain't crashing.

    IRadi8,
Normally I would agree with Supershanks build order (above) but I have the same case you're getting and you could have a serious problem trying to mount your Power Supply AFTER you've already installed your mobo into the case (with the CPU and HSF already installed on it).
I learned this the hard way. If you mount the PSU first, you'll have no problems. But if the mobo (with CPU, Heatsink, Fan, & Memory) are in the case it'll be a very tight fit trying to squeeze the PSU by the HSF and you'll have to remove the Heatsink & Fan to get the PSU in. Seeing as you've spent all the $, I doubt you'd want to take the chance of damaging anything. Just trying to save you some time and aggravation.
Also, your thoughts on dowloading and burning all the latest drivers onto a CD is sound thinking. Another thing to keep in mind is the system drive OS/Drivers/software install order. This will probably be debated, but this order worked well for me:
    1) OS - WinXP?
    2) XP SP2?
    3) NForce Unified Chipset Driver 5.10
    4) DirectX 9.0c
    5) Forceware 66.93 WHQL
    6) Norton Systemworks (or other preferred suite/antivirus program)
    7) Zone Alarm Firewall (may not be necessary if you're strictly using dialup as I see you're putting in that 3Net Internal 56K PCI Fax Modem)
Follow this with all the rest of your APPs, Utilities, and games or whatever. Should work out good for you. I haven't used any Seagate hard drives (I'm a Western Digital man myself), so I'll leave the WinXP install advise to the others.
Good luck with your new rig. Do take your time putting it all together. Dowload and read the manual (mobo) before you get all your hardware so as to be familiar with the possible issues before building.

  • Msi-6712 kt4v

    Hi there everyone
Please bear with me as I am a pretty new to this whole upgrade stuff.
Ok I decided to upgrade a spare system from a 450mhz p3 to an amd based system on a MSI6712-kt4v amd2600, sounds OK so far.
Installation went OK, everything aligned OK, all cables seated OK have triple-checked, but guess what...no power to anything at all whatsoever.
Have installed a new PSU Jeantech 400w, nothing at all.
I also took off all the unneccessary PCI cards, Modem, Network, leaving on an AGP based graphics card
Yes I realise I have probably done something very dumb somewhere and possibly fried the lot, but could someone give a couple of pointers.
Many thanks and hanging my head in shame
    Pilmart.

    Hi pilmart,
    WARNING
YOU MUST DO THIS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
This is the order when checking a faulty board
    Conditions
    1) Mobo on bench protected underneath by cardboard [ not conductive foam ]
    2) Install Processor and fan and install memory
    3) Connect PSU
    4) Identify "Power On"  pins on the front board connections to Mobo
[ This will be situtated near the front along with HDD LED, Reset Speaker etc ]
    5) Apply power to PSU and momentarily short out the "Power On" pins with a small insulated screw driver [ This is similar to pressing the start button on the front of your PC ]
CARE MUST BE TAKEN AS SHORTING OUT THE WRONG PINS WILL PROBABLY DAMAGE THE MOBO
If all is well, then the fan on the PSU will work and so should the fan on the processor.  This will indicate at the very least that the Mobo, Proc and memory maybe OK but not proven.
If you still have no result [ i.e no power to the fans ]
    Then check
BEWARE OF STATIC ELECTRICIY - DISCHARGE YOURSELF FIRST
    1) Check the position of the Clear CMOS pins on the Mobo, these pins by default should be open, but temporaily shorting out these pins will clear the CMOS. If you leave them shorted permanently then the PC will not start.
    2) Check the memory by subsitutuion
    3) Check the processor by subsitution
    4) Check the PSU by subsituition
    5) Check CMOS IC is firmly seated [ Not so common today due to SMD ]
Apart from the fact that some one has already suggested the 4 pin 12volt supply to the AMD CPU [ I don't think that you PC has one ] and all the other items have proved to be working by subsitution then it looks like the Mobo is at fault.
If the fans do start, then...
Switch off, and install the graphics card and connect a monitor
Switch on and restart the Mobo as before and check what is happening on the screen.
    1) No picture - check graphics card on PC
Please Note: If you Mobo has "On Board" graphics place the header on first and try.  If still no picture you can alway fit a PCI graphic card just tp prove the point.
If you have fans running but no picture on the monitor then it is advisable to fit the speaker to the Mobo.
Borrow the speaker from your PC case.
    With the conditions as below
BEWARE OF STATIC ELECTRICIY - DISCHARGE YOURSELF FIRST
    1) PSU
    2) Processor & fan
    3) Memory
    4) Graphics card and monitor or "On board" graphics
    5) Speaker connected
Power up and listen if you are lucky you may hear a series of beeps.
These beeps indcate that the BIOS is in the process of performing the POST
If an error occurs during the POST the beeps will give a clue as to where the problem lies
The number of beeps will determine the area of the fault.
No beeps - No picture - but everything else proven to be OK then the Mobo is probably at fault.
    Physical check:
When I buy a new board I always check it on the bench first.
If you have installed it before trying it then there is the possibilty that you may cause damage to the print.
The areas to check for damage are underneath the support lugs used to secure the Mobo to the Mobo tray [ inside the PC case ]
Print around the the fan securing clip. I known people damaging the fine print around the fan clip by being rough with a screwdriver when trying to secure the clip.
    If you have a picture....
If the picture i.e Boot Screen appears then you can start adding things like mouse keyboard HDD etc until you have a complete PC but laid out on the bench.
    WARNING:
Unless you are confident when working with a PSU Mobo etc outside the case, then I do not encourage you to do so.
You must be careful and tidy.
You must have the power switch close at hand
You must take care to discharge yourself from static electricity before handling processors and memory and mobo
You must proceed each step and note the result.
     WARNING
YOU MUST DO THIS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE RESULTING EITHER PERSONAL OR TO EQUIPMENT BY YOUR EFFORTS TO FOLLOW THIS ADVICE
You can if you wish do this inside the case, and leave the power on pins connected to the front switch if you feel better by doing so
    Hope this helps
    Kind Regards

  • Sound Problem and PCAlert and CoolerXP

OK.  Just bought the below memory/proc/mobo, and did a reinstall of WindowXP-Pro.
What I'm seeing is that there is a highpitched buzzing noise coming through the soundport.  It probably would not usually be noticable with speakers, but because I ONLY use headphones, it's REAL noticeable.
Now here's the weird part.  If I start up CoolerXP and enable the cooler, the noise goes away.
    Temperature Sensor(s)
    Board Temperature : 44.0°C / 111.2°F
    CPU Temperature : 52.0°C / 125.6°F
    Power / Aux Temperature : 27.5°C / 81.5°F
    Cooling Device(s)
Auto Fan Speed Control : No
    CPU Fan Speed : 3924rpm
    Voltage Sensor(s)
    CPU Voltage : 1.63V
    Aux Voltage : 1.87V
    +3.3V Voltage : 3.23V
    +5V Voltage : 5.03V
    +12V Voltage : 11.98V
    -12V Voltage : -12.45V
    -5V Voltage : -5.15V
    Standby Voltage : 4.99V

OK.  New information.  The "buzz" I was talking about is apparently beeping that was coming so often it sounded like a continuous buzz...  my computer sits in such a way that the back of the computer is visible from where I sit, and as the computer started up, I started hearing a beeping sound which corresponded to the ACTIVITY led on the NIC.  every time the activity light comes on, I get a beep.  Reason I thought it was a buzz was cuz I was downloading when I first heard it, so the ACTIVITY led was constantly lit.  Also tested by unplugging the NIC.  No NIC=No noise.
Still weird that simply turning on the CoolerXP makes the sound go away.
Suggestions?  I know I could prolly fix it by goin down & buyin a cheap $20 nic & stickin it in a pci slot but I don't wanna hafta spend that money if there's another fix.

  • And awAaAaAaAay we go...

Well, I just took the plunge.  My trusty old P4 finally crapped out on me today.  It had been running quite hot lately, and now I can't even get into the BIOS.  Damn thing just shuts down on me.
So, my new i7 920 is on it's way, along with memory and mobo, of course.  I had to forestall this month's rent to buy the stuff, but work must continue, or there will be no rent for many months to come.
I wonder just how much faster ny dv2Film processing wil go...

So here's where I'm at so far.
I purchased the Core i7 920, Asus P6T SE mobo, and 3GB Corsair TR3X3G1600C9 memory.  I had to step down from the preferred P6T Deluxe for cost reasons.  I went with only 3GB of memory for a similar reason.  (Still, this is an upgrade from my previous 1GB.)
I installed Windows 7 RC 32 bit because I didn't have enough money for a Vista license.  I went with 32 bit because I don't need extended memory support and for easy compatibility with certain plug-ins that are woefully behind the times but without which I refuse to produce.
The CS4 suite installed without any issues.  All programs seem fully operational with DV media, which is for now my only production media.  (Still drooling for a Scarlet.)  There were no issues with the suite as I had when I installed the trial on XP Pro - in my case a small lag whenever I switched sequences or loaded a clip into the Source Monitor.  With this new setup, all worked well.  Very well, in fact.  I really like CS4.  I have no issues with the newest features of the program, and even prefer many of them to older versions.
So far Premiere has successfully updated to 4.1 without issue, and appears to remain functional.  The program and projects definitely do open faster.  I'm downloading the other suite updates now.
There are two issues I am having so far, and neither is with the Adobe suite.  The major issue is with my graphics card.  It's a rather old X1650 Pro, and the 'good' folks at ATI haven't developed a fully functional driver for these older cards under Windows 7.  My OpenGL support is limited to 1.1, which means the Magic Bullet plug-ins I require don't work.  I plan to purchase an HD4350 for about $40, for which newer drivers exist.  User reports on the 'Net claim full OpenGL 2.0 functionality with these cards under Windows 7.  That should get my Looks back.
The minor issue is with my mouse.  I am using the newest IntelliPoint driver for Windows 7, and for all other programs it works perfectly.  But for the entire Adobe CS4 suite, I have very limited scroll wheel capability.  It works only occasionally, and then very slowly and intermittently.  It's a bit of a hassle having to use the scroll bars in every Adobe app, but since my rendering times are now 4 to 6 times faster with this new hardware, I still come out ahead in overall production times.

  • Power question

    Hi.
I posted here a few weeks ago regarding my new rig.  Had some problems from start, in that the system would die/shutdown unexpectedly at random times.  By getting a horribly false CPU temp reading through MBM 5, I wondered if the heatsink/fan was not connected properly, and when taking it off to check, managed to rip out my CPU and break one of the pins!  Sent it back to AMD with a nice letter hoping they would replace it for me, and although what I did voided the warrenty, they decided to give me new one as a gesture of goodwill, for which I am very grateful for.
So having replaced it, I am still having the same shutdown problems.  I have noticed that these can happen at any time, after 20 minutes system use, or after 2 hours.  It has only happened (I think) during gaming or while running 3DMark03.  Once the system has shutdown, it will not start for about one minute - pressing the power on button does absolutely nothing, no lights/fans/anything.  So I am guessing it is a power problem, rather than a memory or mobo thing?  I notice that I have more problems when I am overclocking via the D.O.T enabled in the BIOS.
My current PSU is the ever-popular Q-Tec Gold 400w, which I now notice indicates 12a/16a Max/Peak on the +12v - is this the problem?  I have no idea what in my machine runs on what rail (the S-ATA HD and floppy seem to take a different power connector than the combo drive, video card, fans, cathode light) and I buying an Enermax 465 PSU soon.
So the question is, in addition the the PSU, what should I be looking at to solve this problem?  RAM stability?  It is supposed to run at 2-3-2-6 and, although running at Auto speeds in the BIOS, using CPU-Z these are the values I am getting.

Installed the new Enermax 465 PSU yesterday and...hey presto, seems like my problems are gone!  Played a lot of games, ran 3DMark03 a couple of times, and no shut-down.  Now I finally have my new computer!  Damn that Q-Tec piece of junk!
I had previously worked out that the problem was not heat related, as even if I left the machine for a few hours after shutdown, it would not restart without messing around with the power cord and wall socket.  Just had to unplug and replug these four or five times each and the machine would work again.  So it had to be a power issue.  Now just have to off-load that 400w Q-Tec

  • Satellite Pro U400 sometimes freezes when the power cord is plugged in

Hello! I know this problem has been discussed here and there but I would like to open a new thread on that. Here is the scenario.
I have recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-247 (PSU45E) with two batteries: (a) the original one, (b) additionally purchased Toshiba genuine PA3636U-1BRL, 7200 mAh. The notebook has the latest BIOS (4.80) and the latest drivers downloaded from Toshiba and installed (ConfigFree is not installed). I am using XP Pro SP3 (clean install done by myself). Everything is working very well, except for one thing:
Sometimes (but not always), when the notebook is working on battery and I plug in the power cord, everything freezes and I have to restart. Some observations:
    (a) it tends to happen more frequently when the low battery alarm has already sounded;
    (b) it seems to happen more frequently with the 7200 mAh battery and less frequently with the original battery;
    (c) it seems to happen more often when a USB device (e.g. mouse) has been connected with the notebook, but that is not a rule;
    (d) it seems to happen less frequently when I move the USB mouse at the time I am plugging in the power cord;
    (e) I have experimented a lot with Toshiba PowerSaver's settings (e.g. changed the CPU levels for my profiles) but nothing I have modified seems to change the situation;
    (f) I have tried various suggestions I found on different forums, but no avail (e.g. BIOS settings);
    (g) otherwise, I can say that I really have not seen a smoother computer, everything else is really working just fine, no other problems whatsoever :)
All this makes me think that this must be some kind of bug in the motherboard drivers, the PowerSaver driver or other drivers interacting with the battery, the CPU or possibly USB. Is there an explanation for this problem and can it be rectified somehow (e.g. by providing a driver update)?

    Hello, thanks for the reply!
My bad, of course I meant the chipset driver. That, however, does not change the essence of the question. Also, I know that a notebook should function properly even the AC adaptor is connected or not connected. That is why I posted my question.
As for the OS reinstall, sorry, I would not do that just on some wild guess from somebody. I recently finished the clean OS install. I have installed XP on dozens of notebooks in my life and I know what I am doing. I have been into computers and networking for 15 years and I know when I see a problem not related to how I install my OSes.
My personal opinion: this problem has not to do with the OS install since the same problem also existed when I test-installed the XP OS image from Toshiba's own downgrade CD (that was before I did a clean install from my own slipstreamed CD). And, if you really use a properly and carefully configured OS with all the necessary software, an OS reinstall is not something you just do every day.
As for the rest (testing the memory / adapter / motherboard etc.): as I have mentioned, similar (although not identical) topics have been raised in various other instances (e.g. at http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/B...EABCA64EE6C5D9) . That means that this problem is most probably not specific to my computer or even to U400 but it may happen with other Toshiba notebooks too. Therefore a (rather standard) suggestion to spend days on reinstalling (and in my case, carefully reconfiguring) the OS, checking the memory, adapter, mobo etc. does not sound as the most plausible one in this case. FYI, I always do full tests on hardware right after I have installed an OS. In this computer, all tests (Toshiba's own; 3rd party memory diagnostics, HDD diagnostics) were passed OK. Indeed, I did not have the AC adapter tested but as it otherwise works fine, the possible problem (if there is one) would be a minor one to notice, and would require testing at a Toshiba service centre (there is no direct Toshiba agency in my country). I think testing the AC adapter is the last resort as much more probably, the problem lies somewhere else.
Even if this problem is hardware-related, I do not expect Toshiba to replace all such hardware out there. However, on many occasions, hardware-related problems can be cured or alleviated on the software side (e.g. by a driver or BIOS update). Since it seems that other people are having similar problems with Toshiba hardware/software, I thought that maybe someone has found an actual solution or maybe there are Toshiba employees reading these forums who could look into it.

  • K7n2 problems?

Im having some problems with my k7n2 board, it aint the new delta version, im not sure what the difference is, but anyway,
everything was peachy, i had a 1700+ athlon processor, the k7n2 board, and a stick of ebuyer 256mb 333 memory, it was working fine, so i decided to drop another stick of ram in there, it still seemed to work fine, i replaced my hdd with a new maxtor diamondmax plus 9 120gb one,
i didnt seem to be getting the performance i should do with the new hdd, but nevermind i kept on going, replaced my processor with a new Athlon 2500+ Barton chip w 166fsb,
    now im having problems,
My memory was reporting a lot of errors in memtest86,
i keep getting random program crashes, and the occasional restart
ive taken the second stick of ram out, it improved things some, but i still get random program crashes, ive got a new stick of TwinMoss 256mb 333 memory on its way,
does anyone else have any ideas of what else could be causing the problems?
    My full spec is
    windows XP sp1
    Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
    256mb Ebuyer memory
    K7n2 Mobo
Radeon 7500 - its the next thing to be replaced
120GB Maxtor Diamondmax plus 9 HDD
300w PSU - bit weak, could this be the problem?

    hi
if i were you i would skip a new graphics card and buy a new psu RIGHT AWAY.
you got a lot of power hungry stuff and a 300w psu is most likely to weak.
a faster cpu uses more power than a slow one.
    more memory uses more power
if you can try a more powerful psu.
    dont buy q-tec.
an enermax 350w is more powerful than a  q-tec 550w.
there is some topics about psu.
    check them out.¨
    bye
