MS-6378 Onboard Video and Sound

Hi.I notice that the FAQ for this board says that the onboard video cannot be disabled,does that mean that it is impossible to use a pci graphics card on it?If it is possible, how would i go about it?
I am also having the problem with sound corruption or slow down, particularly when scrolling whilst playing a cd or whatever.I am not comfortable with messing with IRQs since i know nothing about them, so can anyone tell me how to fix the problem in simpler terms.

The problem you are experiencing most likely traces back to a video card design defect with version three of the board in combination with Windows XP and all of the drivers to date. The only solution is to send back the board to MSI and request a different model. The model MS-6738-010 has an AGP slot with similar specs. I just sent back the same board experiencing the same problems. It is being widely reported on the web also. Microsoft support has already investigated numerous crash reports from many people with the same problem. It all comes down to a video card problem in combination with the drivers for the board.
MSI currently has no fix for the problem on this board. Your only choice is to send it back and request another board.

CAUSE
This issue may occur if the display driver is caught in an infinite loop while it waits for the video hardware to become idle. This issue typically indicates a problem with the video hardware or that the display driver cannot program the hardware correctly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current driver for your video adapter, or replace your video card.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
1.   Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
2.   On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.
3.   Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then clear the Enable Write Combining check box.
4.   Click OK, and then click OK.
Note This procedure prevents the display driver from programming the hardware incorrectly, but you may lose some display functionality and performance. Although you can increase the hardware acceleration settings higher than None to regain functionality and performance, these settings increase the chance that the issue will occur again. For maximum stability, leave hardware acceleration off.

    12 youtube pages are open by the time you get to 12 or 13 the video and audio are corrupted?

  • Rented Movie Video and Sound out of sync

    I love renting movies from ITunes , but there is this ongoing issue with video and sound syncronisation. I have Window 7 64bit with i7 processor and the latest version of Itunes. I have gone through the settings of altering the sound properties on Quicktime player and Windows to 16bit 44khz which had improved it alot.
    But when watching a film half way through the sound appears to overtake the video. Would this be a setting on the latency currently set to 33.000ms and should increasing this cure the problem?
    I'll try altering the settings on one more film , if that doesn't work then ITunes for me is history.

    Does it behave the same way when you watch the video on your computer? What you observed is not that uncommon since some formats/recorders tend to loose sync between the video and audio.

    One of the following steps should help.
    1. Install Adobe Flash Player.

    5. Turn off Extensions/Plug-ins if any that may interfere with Flash working properly.

  • Lost 200+ pictures and many videos and sound clips

    So, I wanted to update the iOS to iOS5, but something went wrong. It backed up (so I wasn't too worried), but it didn't restore properly. Error "-1". A pretty much unknown error. I tried again 2 day's later, and it worked like a charm.
    BUT, in the 2 days, I went to a championship DTM race, about 600km (370 miles) away, shot over 200 pictures and many many videos and sound clips. We even stopped at the Nürenburgring Nordschleife before the DTM on the way and took the car to the track a few times. Awesome.
    After the restore, I had all my previous stuff back, but lost all of the Nürenburgring Nordschleife and DTM pictures... Is there any way to get those back? iTunes restored my iPhone without asking me! So I lost everything as soon as I started up iTunes...

  • Lost video and sound

    Was happily making a movie. I reviewed it and got a screen which was all pixelated. Made the mistake of saving at that point. Now, although my movie looks fine in the time line, when reviewing my movie, I get sound at the start, but no video. Sometimes I get no sound as well.
    What happened? It looks ok in the time line, but even when I select a clip, I get to video in the video window.

    OK, here's some more info on my iMovie dilemma.
    When I preview my movie, I see no video, and only some of the sound clips/music work. I cannot trace it to a single sound track, however.
    I tried to send the movie to my camera, and it worked perfectly (video and sound in the camera and video on the computer), until it reached a certain clip (actually a photo with the KB effect).
    When I dig up the media file for that clip, it plays perfectly in QT. in iMovie, however, (during the camera export) all I get are pixels and basically the movie quits there. Although it moves across the timeline, nothing shows in the viewer and I get a blue screen on my camera.
    After that, when I previewed the movie, I got nothing; just a bar moving across the timeline. Restart iMovie, and I get the same result I started this post with.
    When I began the import to the camera, I got a notice about some clips needing to be rendered. Out of fear of messing things up more, I chose proceed only, vs render and proceed. Would choosing render and proceed fix it, I wonder . . .

  • K9NGM3 how to enable both onboard video and video card NVidia GeForce 6600

    My previous mainboard was K9NGM2 (GeForce 6150 onboard video) and I've used both onboard and external video at same time under Vista.
    Now I've upgraded the mainboard and it's now a K9NGM3-FIH (with nVidia 7050 chip). Onboard graphic works as well if there is no external PCIe video card. When I plug an external one (GeForce 6600), internal one disappears. I both tried BIOS settings; primary card is Onboard / or PCIe. No luck!
    If there is an external card, onboard video doesn't work at boot and under Vista. There is no Video graphic adapter named 7050 : ( When I unplug it then reboot there is the 7050 under device manager...
    What's wrong with them?

    when you have a stand alone video card, why would you want to use on board video at the same time? stand alone video card is much much better than those one on board.

    How do I use multi-channel support with WinDVD 4?
    First, close the WinDVD 4 application. In order to utilize multichannel speakers under Microsoft Windows, you'll go into the Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Audio, and under Sound Playback click on the Advanced button. An Advanced Audio Properties window will open, click on the speakers button and under speakers setup drop down the arrow to 5.1 surround sound speaker, Apply, and Ok.
    Next, start the WinDVD 4 application, and after the film starts playing, right click and choose SETUP and then at the AUDIO tab, you will have multi-channel speaker support available.
    maybe this will help.  the only time i have ever seen this type of error is when directx7, or greater is not installed, but w/xp that is not an issue.

  • SOLUTION to video and sound problems

    I know this seems like a very long process, but it actually doesn't take too long (at least with music videos), and it's well worth having the audio and video ligned up properly. So hope it works for you all, let me know how it goes :)
    i know a lot of people around are having problems with the video and audio not being together when using converters with mpg files. i've been trying different settings all day and i've come up with the conclusion that muxed mpg files WILL NOT have the audio in sync no matter what settings you use.
    HOWEVER, you can download a small, FREE program VirtualDub (which can be downloaded at http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/). (it requires NO INSTALLATION, which is brilliant)
    so, once you've got this program opened:
    1. first put your muxed video into there (drag it or "file>open file")
    2. then go to "video>compression" and select "microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V2" and then press "OK".
    3. after that, go to "file>save as AVI", select where you want to save it and then press OK.
    NOW you have a non-muxed video file, that you can convert using any of the regular converters (Xillisoft, Videora.. etc.) Personally i use Xillisoft's IPod Video Converter, and ta da, you know have a correctly sync'ed audio and video file compatible with the ipod.

    hmm.. ok.. well perhaps you might need the codec installed on your computer.. this is strange i thought it was default..
    can you try telling me what options you do get in there? and i'll search to see if you can download it.. OR you can try just selecting another one, i think at this point it doesn't really matter which one, as long as you use one, because an uncompressed AVI is absolutly HUGE. so try another one from the list (preferabley one that says 'no known restrictions' i think) and let me know if the sound is still good after youthen convert again using videora or xillisoft
