MS-6570 Platinum - No IEEE1394 option in BIOS!

This has me confused.
I just finished installed my new MB, and I'm using the provided firewire "card" that came with the MB. In the BIOS, there is no option to Enable or Disable the onboard IEEE controler. The manual says it's supposed to be under Integrated Peripherals/Onboard Device, and the options is supposed to be listed under MAC Lan (nVIDIA), but it isn't even there.
I've flashed to the latest BIOS, and my system drivers are up to date, but this is somehting missing from the BIOS. Was the option moved somewhere after the manual was printed?

He has confirmed the ports are present on the board....
I have seen this in earlier Nf2 Pre Delta boards where it was there but if you had disabled it, and then flashed the BIOS, it would dissapear. The only way to get it back was to flash to an earlier version, make sure it is enabled, then you can flash to the latest.
That is why I always clear the CMOS when starting a new build. You may have a board that may have been fiddled with, believe it or not, it does happen from time to time.
Have you tried the Default BIOS Settings Option in the BIOS? Perhaps you loaded the Performance option and that is why it is hiding?
Perhaps you may want to try the online support request form http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms/c_problem_desc_form2.asp

  • How can I boot to USB device if no USB boot option in BIOS

I just purchased a Toshiba NB305-N410BL but am concerned as to how I would image the 250GB HDD if I can not boot from an external cdrom drive.  I tried to backup to shared network folder but none show up on list.  Only boot options in BIOS are HDD, FDD, and LAN.  Thanks for all help in advance.

    Hi, buddy-erp.
I don't know if my instructions apply to you because I only have the NB305 model. However, if you say you have followed all instructions, that is, 1) insured that no other USB devices are connected to your computer at bootup time and 2) have pressed F12 to enter the boot menu; 3) and then designated the USB flash drive as the source of the bootable restoration software you may need Toshiba technical support. I wonder if there is a BIOS update for your computer too. This may need to be downloaded and installed prior to beginning the restoration process. Nevertheless, as stated, I have a NB305 model and the instructions are clear. FYI (for your information), a virus infected my system and made certain changes to this process. Toshiba technical support informed me that the information displayed was wrong and the process outlined was unnecessary but did require technical support to restore it to the OEM default options.
    Good luck.

  • 4530s DC CARD or USB BOOT not working even if it has this option in bios

i just posted a message but i think it's in the wrong section..
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-questions/sd-card-boot-and-usb-boot-not-working/m-p/9...
Hi, i just got a HP ProBook  4530s , I5 processor, Intel HD 3000 , i have a problem with it, i can't boot on any usb or sd card, i tried all linux versions i could find and also some live windows and bartPE, on my sd card i get the "Disk read error" as soon as i choose the booting device and on usb it goes a little bit further i can see the linux logo some processes starting and then same error related to write on disk, the sd card and usb are not in read only mode and on my other laptop a older one 6730s everything works...
Also all the usb and sd card work perfect in windows, when i boot from internal HDD.
Is there a fix for it??  Or can anybody that has this laptop test if it works booting from usb or sd card, maybe it's a problem with this unit..
i have tried all available bios verions and various usb devices but as i said the usb sticks all worked on my other laptop but not on this one.
Oh and also is there a bios option to stop virus check on boot? as far as i could test that is the only option in bios that is not there and i can't test with it ON/OFF.. any help would be apreciated because i can return the laptop for 30 days and i allready have it for one week. and i really need this option to work.
PS - sorry for my bad english but i'm from Europe

Yes, I've tried this. I pulled the power cable, waited two minutes, hit the CMOS button, and also removed the battery, and waited another minute.
After which, I loaded optimized defaults, but the problem remains.

  • IdeaPad Flex 15D no virtualization option in BIOS 94CN07WW (AMD APU A6-5200)

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15D (AMD APU A6-5200) does not have virtualization option in BIOS version 94CN07WW. What this means is if one wants to run for example Virtualbox, then one would only be able to vitualize a 32-bit operating system, instead of either a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. However, a similar model Lenovo IdeaPad S415 Touch (AMD APU A6-5200) does have the SVM option in the BIOS to enable or disable virtualizing 64-bit operating systems. December 22, 2014 8:00AM CSTWhen I  called Lenovo technical support, I initially spoke with someone who sounded as if they were from the Philippines, which is fine if they are knowledgable, and their english is fluent. Unfortunately, when I explained the technical situation, he had no idea what I was talking about. After he checked with in Level 2 quite few times, he said that the motherboard doesn't support virtualization... So, I advised him that I've been in the IT industry for 10 years, and while admittedly I don't know everything about virtualization, I have some level of knowledge on the subject having worked in all positions from Level 1 Technical Support to Systems Engineer. Hence, I proceeded to explain how virtualization is a dependency of the CPU, not the motherboard. One would of course need to have a motherboard that is compatible with the CPU in order for the computer to work at all. However, one may buy a CPU without virtualization extensions and plug it into a motherboard, or one may buy the same CPU with virtualization extensions and plug it into this same motherboard. As well, I invited him to look at Intel or AMD's website for further information on this while we were on the phone so I could help clear up any questions he had on the matter. While he didn't appear to review either website, he checked in with Level 2 again, and suggested we check forums to see if a work around exists. I quickly explained there is no work around to this type of problem, and the resolution would be to put a request into engineering to have a BIOS update pushed out that allowed enabling/disabling SVM by default. After checking in with Level 2 once again, he said if it's not an option in the BIOS, then the computer doesn't support it. I advised while this statement is something I already knew (not to mention painfully obvious at this point), it's not a technical limitation of the hardware, as the CPU supports it. The root cause is that toggling SVM enabled/disabled wasn't designed in the BIOS (i.e. this needs a BIOS update to come out to fix this problem). We briefly talked about a warranty event, how from my past experiences sometimes when one submits a laptop to a vendor and gets it returned, it comes with a BIOS version that is later than originally submitted, or one that is not available for download from the vendor website. However, he wasn't really for this idea, as I didn't have a hardware fault per-say, and I wasn't interested in insisting one a warranty event as it was frankly a low probability event to have this outcome, and it wasn't what I wanted out of the conversation anyway. So, after he checked in with Level 2 again, he said he can call me back after he investigated some more. I advised him that a call back is useless if he is the one calling me back as we already know the problem, resolution, and who would need to address it. After he began to stutter, and make incomplete sentences that made no sense, he put me on hold to check in with Level 2 again (yes he checked in with them this many times). When he came back he claimed I said earlier in the conversation that the option to enable it was available so I should just go ahead and do that. Given that this guy frankly didn't know what I was talking about to begin wtih, and now is telling me something that never even happened in the conversation, I pretty much had enough of the lack of knowledge, and customer service I was receiving, so I asked to speak to either a supervisor or the next level of support. Thankfully he transferred me to his supervisor, who sounded like he wasn't from an outsourced call center, as when I explained the situation he understood me the first time, and spoke clear and articulate english. After a very brief discussion about what he was reading from Lenovo forums and a BBB complaint similar to my inquiry, we came to the conclusion that it would need to be a customer courtesy request to the engineering department to request the SVM option become available via a BIOS update. So, with my case number in hand, I said despite him not being able to promise me the outcome I desired, he at least got the issue in front of the right people, which I appreciated. Long story short, it would be just simply really awesome if Lenovo could push out a Happy Holidays BIOS update that would allow me to enable SVM on my IdeaPad Flex 15D.  Thanks for reading.

I came across this issue a while back also. However, with the quickly-approaching release of Windows 10, there's another problem that I consider far more important (it is also related to the BIOS, go figure). There is no way to enable/disable Execute Disable Bit in the BIOS. Due to this, I have been unable to upgrade to the Windows 10 Insider Preview, and I fear that this will be the same case with the final release. This issue apparently affects lots of others as well. It is interesting to note that the Flex 15D drivers page no longer says that a BIOS update is not available for the laptop... It doesn't give any info about the BIOS. Get with it, Lenovo!

  • Satellite A200 - Can't find Sleep & Charge option in BIOS

I have been told that turning "Sleep to Charge" on in the bios of my satellite A200 will help my iPhone connect with iTunes without freezing it. I have downloaded the latest bios (2.50) and cannot find anywhere in it that will allow me to turn on "Sleep to Charge".
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
If you cant find this option in BIOS your notebook doesnt support this feature. With this feature you can only charge USB devices while the notebook in sleep mode. It has nothing to do with the connection while notebook is running.
So I doubt that this can solve your problem. You have to search for another solution.

  • Is P965 Platinum going to receive a BIOS update to support E8400 s-spec SLB9J?

Is P965 Platinum going to receive a BIOS update to support C2D E8400 s-spec SLB9J with E0 core stepping?

Well, basically they're sorry that the motherboard doesn't currently support it. I also asked about time frame when a BIOS update would be likely. They replied there are a number of issues in making it happen. If possible, they'll make effort to release a solution as soon as they can.
Kinda obscure, but I guess that was to be expected.

  • 785GTM-E45 mobo: no ACC option in BIOS

    Hi.
I've got new mobo, installed it and can't see "Advanced Core Calibration" option in BIOS though it should be there as it's shown in manual right below "AC Firmware" option of Cell Menu.
Bios v. 8.0 the latest. Before that there was another older ver. of 8.0 - i've upgraded it but nothing has changed.
    CPU - Athlon x2 3800+
    Please advice.
    Thx

You could have read the manual:

  • [msi k8n neo4-f] missing options in bios

    1. is there any posibility to turn off fdd seek and to turn on num lock? there is no that options in bios.
    2. does this mainboard have built-in firewall?
    thanks

no no, i've just wanted to disable fdd seeking during fdc controller initialization. now i know that it is impossible with official bios version (with numlock the same)
now the question where can i find hacked/modded bioses for this mainboard? (http://www.lejabeach.com/MSIK8N/k8nneo4ultra/k8nneo4.html ---> does these bioses fits to neo4-f? i think for all k8n neo4 (nforce 4 and nforce 4 ultra) bioses are the same)
and one more question: i've read on some other forum that on this mainboard with bios v1.3 and higher (official) it is impossible to set FSB higher than ~229MHz (blank screen even i've set memory to 100MHz, HT x1 and higher CPU voltage) and the sollution is to flash with bios v1.2 (official) or modded/hacked version. is it true?

Where exactly are you trying to find this option in the bios? As Richard said make sure you enabled manual for CPU and Ram settings.
I know where I am looking.
User Config Mode --> [Manual] but there is only "Bottom of 32-bit" , "Read Preamble value" and " Async Latency value".

Please tell us exactly(!) what you changed in Cell Menu (core speed, HT, mem clock and so on), report your CPU model and stepping.
Did you clear cmos after(!) flashing 3.A mod?
After flash I remove my power cable for 1-2 mşnutes than press reset button. During post screen I enter bios to load failsafe defaults. After those steps I try to find what is good/bad with that bios.
Feel free to ask anything that can fix this problem.

  • P35 Platinum CPU Fan on/off Option in bios?

    hey all,,,
is there a way of turning off the monitoring of the cpu fan in a similar way to the NB or chiset fans so they dont report to windows... i have watercoolin and cant stand the bleepin i keep gettin dual core centre coz my cpu fan speed is at 0rpm.... if not then is there another app i can use to monitor temps that i can cinfigure to ignore the cpu fan on?
    thanks

Nu773r, can you list your full system spec and any overclocking settings you have, and also the watercooling components you have installed?
water cooling may not be the best cooling option for today's motherboard, as there are other components on the board that run as hot as the CPU and not being cooled well.

  • K8N Neo Platinum (MS-7030) Hangs at BIOS

Sorry if this was asked before.
My motherboard is acting a bit weird. This doesn't happen every time, but every once in a while when I reboot or power on my computer, it just 'hangs' at the BIOS screen. It doesn't attempt to boot to any device; all I see is the Platinum logo. The system is not locked up, as I can hit F10 and see the standard BIOS screen that displays about of memory, etc. I'll hit the reset button on the computer or CTRL+ALT+DEL and it usually boots then, but sometimes I have to do that more than once.
Is anyone else having this problem?. And does anyone know what to do to resolve this problem?.
    Thanks.

    Panoramix,
You only have the singlle Sata yes ?
if so you can simplify the list (which is a good ide btw)
    Quote
    1. Hook up the drive to serial port 1/2/3/4. There has been issues around with people using SATA port 1 and 2 in regards to overclockability. If possible always use SATA port 3 or 4 unless doing a Raid 0+1 or 1 where 4 are required.
    4. Go into "Integrated Peripherals"
    5. Press ENTER on "Onboard Devices"
    6. Press ENTER on "RAID Config" select "disabled" on all drives
    Quote
    8. Return to "Onboard Devices" menu
    9. Locate the SATA1/SATA2 - SATA3/SATA4 and enable the option that corresponds with your drive.
    10. Back out to "Integrated Peripherals"
    11. Go into "Ide Function Setup"
    12. Check that relevent "Sata DMA"  is  Enabled
    Quote
    13.From here we will exit/save
    reboot
    Insert Windows cd
    2. Very first thing we will do is boot into the BIOS and go into "Standard CMOS Features"
    3. Check to make sure your drive is located on what SATA channel you have the drive plugged into
    18. Go into "Advanced BIOS Features"
    19. You will want first boot device to be CD-ROM for Windows XP/2k installs.
    20. You will want the second boot device to read HARD DRIVE.
    21. Save/Exit
The screen will prompt to boot from Cd
press the any key to continue
You dont need to load any drivers so can continue through the load driver stage.
When your asked where you want to place the new installation :-
    a) If a new drive Select the make partition & enter the size you want in Mb & Format.it
If you have an early version of windows be aware it will only see 1st 137GB of drive. So format 1st Os Partition only. Rest of drive can be formatted subsequently with Admin tools once windows is running & has been updated at least to SP1.
    b) Select existing partition or delete existing partition & proceed from a)
From here you should be able to complete the install of Windows XP/2K fine. You can go into the bios and make "hard drive" first boot if you wish now.
The above looks complicated as i've not renumbered your original steps.
the bottom line is you dont normally need to do anything with raid or install drivers
    when using single sata
you might also like to look at  Help putting a computer together
Hope this doesnt confuse you but the above is simpler.
