MS Ergonomic Desktop 7000 hangs

Hi Guys!
Maybe one of you can give me a nudge in the right direction for this: I have recently switched out my PC and am running Windows 8 now. Everything works fine (as fine as Windows 8 can run anyway...) except for my Microsoft Ergonomic Desktop 7000 Keyboard/Mouse
set. Those two Keep hanging from time to time and I just can't find an Explanation for it. The interesting Thing is that they seem to lock up independently, so sometimes the mouse is working, but the Keyboard is not, and vice versa. Normally this behavior
clears itself after a few seconds, but it is anyway very annoying.
The Driver I am running is 9.2.154.0. I hope that's the latest one... I already tried reinstall, swapped USB ports, even switched the Receiver from a USB2 to the USB3 Controller, but nothing seems to make any difference.
Would appreciate any ideas on this.

If possible, please see if it works on other Windows 8 computers.

    I recently plugged in my Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 wireless mouse and keyboard made by Microsoft into my new MacBook Pro Retina with OS 10.8.3. The extra and programmable keys on the keyboard no longer functioned.  These keys worked just fine on my iMac with the Snow Leopard operating system running.  The keyboard appears to be programmable in the system preferences under Microsoft Keyboard, but F1, for instance, says "Handled by Mac OS".  When I try to edit this, it just do anything when I click.  The mouse seems to work well, showing a diagram of the mouse and all the buttons light up when I push them, but the keyboard is not working properly. 
    Microsoft's website only offers software and drivers for up to Mac OS 10.7 for this wireless desktop system.  This "Intellipoint" software worked fine with my previous iMac, but when I try to install it on this new MBPr, the system says that I should not install "apps" from unidentified developers.  I thought microsoft was pretty well known and reputable.  Should I be concerned about installing this driver made for Mac OS10.7...and will it do anything helpful?
    Does anyone know how to get the full function out of this keyboard with OS 10.8?  I would like to be able to use all the F1-F~15 and the special programmable buttons 1-5.

    This is Gatekeeper, a new function in 10.8. You can change these settings by going to System Preferences>Security. Or just right click the installer and choose open, it bypasses Gatekeeper and allows you to run the installer.

    Considering your issue only seems to be with contacts, I would suspect there may be a corrupt/invalid contact entry in your Yahoo account.  My suggestion is to first setup a one-way synchronization from the BlackBerry to Yahoo, then do the opposite.  This should indicate where the issue is originating.
    As well, check your Yahoo address book for any blank or incomplete contacts.  Contacts that are missing a first name, last name and company name cannot be synchronized to the BlackBerry and could potentially cause hang-ups or a failed synchronization.  A contact must have at least one of those three fields filled out.

  • Msft ent desktop 7000 works with Macbook Pro 10.5.8 but not mini 10.6.1

    I just purchased a Mac Mini with 10.6.1. I'm using it as an entertainment system hooked up to my 60 inch plasma. I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Entertainment Desktop 7000 keyboard and mouse. i like the keyboard and it all works except for the integrated trackpad. At first i thought it was because it wasn't fully Mac compatible but when I tried it on my Macbook Pro 10.5.8 the trackpad worked fine.
    Any suggestions??

    This is a guess: The MacBook Pro has a built-in trackpad, while the Mac Mini doesn't. Maybe it's missing a driver. When you have it connected to your MacBook Pro, try to look at your "Trackpad" system preference. Does that exist on your Mini? Also, try comparing the System Profiler outputs, especially concerning your USB.
    It makes it a little more challenging when your systems aren't both the same OS level :-D, so some things will be different between the two systems just due to the OS levels.

  • Desktop app hangs on windows 7

    My desktop CC app just hangs when I click on it.  Two days ago I was able to download and install Photoshop and Dreamweaver but I have not been able to download or extract Adobe Pro.  I really need Adobe Pro for some class work that will be due this semester.  I was getting an error connected with Internet Explorer but I have IE 11 and Adobe was still kicking it out and not extracting or installing.
    At this point I am pretty disappointed in these products that you pay for.  As a student money is tight and now to have to spend two days trying to find help for a glitch is frustrating.

    Rpolak53105 do you receive any specific error messages?  I would recommend you start with Sign in, activation, or connection errors | CC, CS6, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html as it is possible the connection to the Adobe servers could be blocked and cause the application to freeze.

  • Desktop App hangs at Loading...

    I have a desktop application that I have been using for a while now.  Now when I start, I get the "Loading..." white screen and then it hangs.  I did the usual--Reboot, Clean Solution, etc.  I also searched for other users suggestions,
    but it seems that most people use the Web side.
    I changed the configuration from Release to Debug (Client and Server in the configuration manager) and this time I got the "GetAuthenticationInfo" error that has been written about a lot without specific answers.  Funny thing, the next time
    I tried to load, it worked.  So I can run the app in Debug mode, but when I switch back to Release mode, I get the Loading  hang again.
    When I open the Configuration Manager (drop down the Debug/Release button) I get 3 entries: Client, Server, and the Project.  I only have a problem when the project is set to Release.
    The backend is an attached SQL Server database.  I have a copy of the database on my local PC and on the server and can switch back and forth between them with the same results.
    Anyone have any ideas?  I know Yann is a Destop guy, I hope he can help.

    According to your description above, here are some suggestions for you:
    Cleaning and rebuilding your current Project (Right-click > Clean, Right-click Rebuild respective) and see if that makes any difference at all. 
    Enable diagnostic, and
    turn the build output up

  • Desktop Manager Hanging Up During Execution

    I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager version 6.034 on to a Dell Latitude E6520. The operating system is Windows 7 64-bit. The user has a Bold 9650. Several attempts to connect the phone to synchronize failed. Either with the phone connected or disconnected to the laptop, the Desktop Manager application hangs up during the initialization phase. I have also tried upgrading from version 5.x but have been unsuccessful. Any help out there?

    am also having this problem. have new storm 9550, upgraded from storm 9530. each time try to connect new phone software hangs up and does not respond. tries to show ability to add new device but software screen locked with hour-glass.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software hangs ("not responding" error)

    I have a Bold 9780 and Blackberry Desktop Software 7, and suddenly the desktop application juts hangs and freezes when I try to launch it. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, going to earlier DM versions, registrry cleans, the lot, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas? At present I cannot synch my BB, which is very frustrating.

    You seem perhaps to already have tried at least some of what is discussed in this thread, but I cannot tell if you've truly tried it all...therefore, I suggest this thread:

    It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
    Otherwise, it really sounds like you have some major conflict or issues with your Windows OS itself. While quite rare, it's not unheard of needing to completely reinstall Windows so as to get things working well. But, before you resort to that, you should do all of the normal Windows stuff -- Windows updates, check all of your apps for updates, run registry cleansers, run full virus scans, run malware detectors, etc. etc. etc. This very much sounds like a PC/Windows problem more than a Desktop Software problem.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software Hangs on Startup

    I installed the version that came with Curve 8330 (Verizon), on Dell Latitude 620 running Vista Ultimate. The Desktop started with the blank weavy screen but no menus. Hourglass. I waited for 30 minutes. No progress. I uninstalled, rebooted, downloaded the most current version 5.x.x.x from the support site, installed, rebooted, and started the software again and I received the same results. Get hourglass for over 30 minutes.
    I can start Devise Manager and it shows that my device is properly connected.
    I tried starting with Outlook running, and without outlook running.
    Nothing seemed to make any difference. The Desktop does not start at all. It hangs before it even shows any menus or anything on the screen.
    At this point i can not transfer my outlook contacts, Calendar, etc. to BB. How do I get the Desktop software to run?

    Hi all, as the original post was many years ago, i certainly HOPE the original poster has found relief. But others like myself just encountering headaches trying to save data. The solution for me was to install an older version of DM (501_b049_multilanguage), and MagicBerry3 to get IDP files off my BB. When installing DM v 5 unselect Media Version during install. BUT after install is complete, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, find and delete DM Media Version. Turns out, it installs anyway, but is not seen in DM dashboard. Once you remove Media Version, the gray box with "connect device" warning disappears. Hope that saves someone 36 hours of headache!

    I have an 8820 set up for AT&T in a BES environment. It receives e-mails just fine but whenever I hook it up to the system to synch it hangs up on working. I've had the same problem on 4.2.2, 4.3, and 4.6. Any suggestions???

    Actually, specific device models do not match with Desktop Manager versions. You can use the latest version 5.0 or 4.7 for the Desktop Manager.

  • Latest BB Desktop Software Hangs in WinXP

    I did not see any warnings that the latest Desktop Software application version did not work on XP ..  Is it Win XP compatible ?  Hangs on exit and will not connect to my BB Storm 2 ??

    The most recent version of the BlackBerry Desktop Software requires WinXP service pack 3.
    Service pack 2 of less will not work.

    My phone is now syncing again with Outlook. It involved 3 steps:
    1. Replacking Desktop 7 with 6.1
    2. Rebooting the device (the apps were disappearing and the Desktop could not identify the phone. I only discovered the solution because the battery went dead).
    3. When the calendar would not sync, creating a new .pst file in Outlook and mapping the calendar on the Desktop to it.
    Croos my fingers, but it is working again.

  • Desktop Manager "hangs" at restore data service

    I am using a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and recently i just tried to update my BB through the computer. However, The Desktop Manager does everything nicely except that the restore data service part is taking tooooo much of time. I waited like 45 mins and the bar wouldn't even move an inch...
    Any idea whys that ? Is there any solutions ?

    The window for applications may already have closed, I'm not sure, but either way a new version is most definitely in the pipeline.

  • MS Remote Desktop Connect hangs

    I've been using the MS Remote Desktop Connect 1.03 with reasonable success for a while. One significant problem however has been that the application freezes up completely and the only recourse is to force-quit RDC and reconnect.
    I use the Cisco VPN client (4.8.00 0490) through the Cisco routers on our campus.
    The freeze occurs both with a dial-up and broadband internet connection.
    Mac OS X 10.4.8, connecting to Windows XP Pro sp2, both platforms patched up-to-date.
    Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone been able to fix it?

    I've seen many of these complaints... mostly Airport sucking up CPU, but some have fixed it by reinstalling the Cisco client, others by going back to 10.4.7, iirc.
