MS Exchange Server for Mac version

Just switched to Mac, and love it. I must access access corporate email from MS Exchange server. Mac version of Safari 3 keeps giving me an error that password or username are incorrect, and will not proceed. Windows Safari version 3 opened mail with no problems. Any ideas?

Just to chime in here.
I too am having problems logging into Outlook Web Access on an Exchange 2000 server. It keeps asking my for my login info. Once I log in, I go to a message and it asks me again. When I try to access the exchange server locally, Safari just crashes. Same on Windows Safari.
I know the easy thing to do would be to use Firefox, but I don't want to have to tell all my Mac users they have to use Firefox when it worked perfectly well on Safari 2 and Safari 3 Beta.

does anybody know if (any given date ?) sun is planning to offer a distribution of its sun java system application server for mac os x ? or even better: any ideas on how to install a currently available version on mac os x 10.4 ? the linux bin seems not to be readable.

As you noticed, standalone MacOS distribution of application server is currently not available, but what you can do is to download NetBeans with J2EE bundle or Creator (for free) and install bundled Application Server on this platform. Download URLs are:

Also, you can install and run Glassfish (which is open-source version of upcoming Application Server 9.0) on MacOS X:

Unable to start Oracle Reports Server for 10g version 10.1.2.3.0

Attention Oracle Reports Team or anyone else:
I am unable to start the Oracle Reports Server for 10g version 10.1.2.3.0 of the Application Server.

Why does the trace file indicate that the rwEng engine died with error?+

OK, I did this once and did not follow the oracle docs
If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam          (change rep_fam to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)

VPC 7 with Windows XP Home ed. has 3 CDs - Installation 1, Installation 2, and Additional Windows System Files. Requires MacOS X 10.2.8+, 700Mhz G3, G4, or G5 processor, 512 RAM.
VPC 6 with Windows XP Home ed. has 2 CDs - Installation, and Extra System Files. Requires Mac OS 9.2.2 or Mac OS X 10.2.1+, 500Mhz G3 or G4 processor, 320 RAM.
I do not have Office Mac 2004 so can't help you there.

Parallels Server For Mac configuration (or any VM product), best practices

What is the recommended practice for configuring Parallels Server For Mac on an XServe? The xserve has 3 hard drive bays. What do most people do to maximize uptime, failover, disaster recovery, etc. We do have 3 different physical xserves with PSfM also.
Is a software RAID recommended for the boot OS drive? for the drive storing the VMs if not the same drive?
How are your hard drives configured?
I'm concerned that mirroring two 1TB hard drives and using that for both the host OS and for the VMs will present problems:
When creating new VMs, copying large amounts of data, etc, I'd guess that moving 10-100 GB of data is tasking for the software raid and will noticeably affect performance for all VMs.
If one of the mirrored drives fails and the raid needs to be rebuilt, this probably would bring the entire system to a crawl, at best, and possibly be unusable while it works to repair the raid. Thus it would have to be done during off peak hours. This would prevent a complete outage though.

There is no upgrade path from Server 2012 Essentials to R2. R2 is not an upgrade, it is a new build. Essentials does not upgrade easily, you will want to perform a migration of the server. This will require additional hardware. You
can possibly backup the 2012 Essentials, build a temp server on workstation hardware just to do the migration from, restore the backup to the new server and then perform the migration to R2.

Cannot select iTunes videos for sync with Sony Bridge for Mac version 3.6

I have a Sony xperia T.
I am running Sony Bridge for Mac version 3.6 (the latest I think)
I would like to sync a couple of movies to my phone so I can take them with me when travelling, but the itunes library movies are "greyed out" and I cannot select them to enable them to sync.
I cannot see why.
Also some of my music is the same - some albums are "greyed out" and cannot be selected.
Anyone else seen this and worled out the solution ?

I'm having problem when i try to deploy a installer for Mac version.I download CCPLauncher for Mac.When i launch it i only can select Serial Number License & Named License its different from Windows version which is i can download Device Named License.Can ur team help me ASAP because i have to deploy to 24 sites around Malaysia by next week.And for your information I'm buy a education licensing.

We have been running Microsoft Office for Mac Version X on OSX for quite awhile
Through the start of OSX up to our current OS System Panther 10.3.9. On two
computers, and primarily in Word the Application has been quitting with
no specific error message (that I know of) I have the M.O. same version on my Mac
but I do not use it that often, One computer is a Imac and the other a eMac.
I am wondering if I should do a clean install of the program, but I would imagine
I /we would lose any previously created documents or programs created whether
in Word, Power Point or Excel etc. I do back up all of our computers (on computer
specific back up drives) so the documents would be there. I guess what I am
trying to say is I think the program has become corrupted. I have run Disk
Warrior, Apple Jack, repaired permissions, yet it persists..??
Any input, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have had MS office installed and used hitch-free for many years now. Yesterday, for the first time i developed a problem. When I click on any EXCEL file, it will either (a) not open at all, or (b) it will open in a small window - perhaps 20% of the full-window size and it will NOT allow me to resize or scroll. (This means I cannot see the full contents of my file.)
The other problem is that, MS word documents sometimes open and sometimes dont, but I cannot open them in 'Normal" view
As an observation which may or may not have anything to do with these issues, when i minimize active applications to the dock the icons are tiny, much smaller than they ever used to be.
Has anyone else had these symptoms? I am beginning to suspect I've been infected with some type of virus.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Yes. The whole process of registering is messed up.
No guarantee this will work, try unistalling and reinstalling. Uninstall has to be done the Microsoft way. Go to Applications / MO 2008 / Additonal Tools / Remove Office / Remove Office.
Then reinstall the usual way. This might work.
