MS Office 2010 Home & Student 2010 on Window 8.1

Hi All,
I recently purchased a new laptop that comes with Window 8.1 as well as a complimentary Office 2010 Home and Student.
I have followed the instruction to download via www.office.com/productkeycard and saved on my desktop. However, upon completing the download, I can't seems to open the file to run installation. It ask me to select where to open a file, which none seems to
be suitable. I was expecting auto-run.
Just wonder if this is a compatibility issue or am I missing something to run the file?

It seems you have downloaded a ISO image file for Office 2010.
To install from it, you need to burn into a disk and run from that.

No, it is not a backup method at all. If you delete a sync'd file on any device, you delete it permanently from iCloud. That by its very essence is not a backup solution therefore. A backup solution does not automatically and simultaneiously delete the file everywhere when it is deleted from the original source.
iCloud is strictly a syncronization tool for using files on multiple internet connected devices.

Unable to install MS Office 2010 in Windows server 2008R2

I am trying to install MS Office 2010 in windows server 2008R2. Office installed and then immediately it rollback and installation end up with an error "microsoft office professional plus 2010 encountered an error during setup ".I tried many

Smartview Issue with MS Office 2010 on windows 7

Hi,
I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.1.1 on windows 7(64 bit AMD Processor), After the installation i tried to go with Datasource manager but nothing it shows there in Right side panel("smartview data source manager").
Each option is in Disable mode(like Adhoc Analysis- Zoom In, Zoom out, Keep Only, Remove Only, Forms)
Also i am unable to find the EAS console( but instalation wizard shows it has been installed)
Version we are using -Hyperion Smartview 11.1.1.1
Ms Office- 2010(32 bit)
Platform- Windows 7 64bit( AMD Processor)

You should always use official documentation for support details but I am pretty sure Windows 7 support was not available for the EAS client until 11.1.1.3.

Using KMS for Office 2010 on Windows Server 2012R2

Hi,
We are migrating our old KMS server til 2012 R2. As far as I can find out KMS on 2012 R2 is only supported for Office 2013? Trying to install Microsoft Office 2010 Volume License Pack show "operating system not supported"
Somebody knows if Microsoft Office 2010 Volume License Pack will be supported on Windows 2012 R2?

With Volume Licensing for products such as Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2 for Embedded Systems, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2010, and Office 2013, you must use Volume
Activation (VA). To activate these products with VA, you can use either a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or Key Management Service (KMS).

Cannot install Office 2010 on Windows Server 2008 terminal server

Hello
I have a Windows 2008 terminal server which has Office 2007 Professional Plus on it. We want to upgrade it to Office 2010 Professional Plus.
Following steps from Technet, I made sure all users were out of the terminal server, then selected "Install Application on Terminal Server", then ran the setup.exe file for Office 2010.
The splash screen comes up for Office 2010 but then disappears and the install does not progress, although the setup.exe is still running in Task Manager. The "install Application on Terminal Server" window is still open, waiting for me to click
Next, Finish or Cancel and nothing else happens.
I also tried putting the server into install mode from command prompt and rebooting the server and re-attempting but no good.
How can I go about troubleshooting this issue?

Are you using a volume license version of Office 2010 for Remote Desktop Services/Terminal
Services? I may be wrong but I think that only this version of Office 2010 will work on a Terminal
Server. The Retail Version will just not work in this case.
I had similar problem where I tried to upgrade from Office 2007 to Office 2010 on a Terminal Server (Windows
2008) but wasn't successful with the upgrade/installation.

BDM 6 using Office 2010 on Windows 64 Bit Not Working Need Help...?

I've installed BDM6 on my 64bit Windows 7 environment and have found that Desktop Manager cannot find a trace of Office 2010
I then checked the Technical spec and found out that a 64bit system is unsupported... Which I find amusing....
Does anybody have a work around solution so I can synchronize my data?

Don't bother trying to downgrade to 32 bits windows 7 or to 32 bits Office 2010.
I can confirm ... as can 113 participants in a thread higher up this blog, that DM6 is a totally UNWORKABLE release full of fatal bugs.
DM6 was announced as the solution for people running Office 2010 32 bits ... well it is entirely useless... so best you change phone or keep an eye on this FORUM to see when the other two streams are likely to be "closed" out with solution!
The two threads are : "Desktop Manager version 6.0 Crashing" and "Updated to DM6, cannot Synchronise".... if you have any spare time,browse through these ... makes for a good read and lots of suggestions but no solutions in sight!
And yes RIM initially announced that they would not both about office 64bit until 2011!

Problems with reinstalling Office 2010 for windows 7

So, I had Office 2010 installed on my PC. Then for some problems with other programs, I had to format my PC. Then, I opened Microsoft Office 2010 to reinstall it, then I inserted the product key I've written on a sheet, and it gave me error: the product

Office 2010 and windows 7 not save power point presentation ?

I am opening Power point Presentation 2010 then internet gives me 3 options , open , save, cancel.
If i save Power Point Presentation then i will save it to drive location. after some modification and saved back to presentation. i have user power point plg-in.
But when i click open then power point presentation open if i change some part and click Plug-in for save back to presentation. it gives me following error message:-
Run-time error '- 2147467259(80004005)': Presentation (Unknown member) : An error occurred while Power Point was saving the file.

Question re. microsoft office installation home & student

Hi, we purchased a new iMac yesterday and at the same time we got the microsoft office home and student. We have set up two accounts on the machine, for practical reasons, so that we get access to our personal e-mail on the machine. The office version is available for one user but not for me - is this because we are both administrators? Does anyone have a suggestion for how to sort this out? We would like the license to be available for everyone on the machine, and hope this is possible :-)

If by application bar, you mean the Dock, it would not show up there for the second user. If the office suite was installed normally it will be in the Applications folder, to which the second user has access.
While in finder, open the Go menu at the top of the screen and select "Applications"
Microsoft Office should be in the folder that opens.
If you would like it to be in your Dock just drag the office application of your choice onto the Dock.
You may need to fill out registration information again for the application to work. Microsoft is a little fickle that way.

Another point of interest at the end: If you see a blue, horizontal, oval light on the Dock under the Safari icon then Safari is open. The same applies to any application for that matter.
Clicking the red button at the top left corner of the window does not Quit Safari. Instead it closes the window. To properly Quit Safari, click the Safari menu, then click Quit Safari. Alternatively, Command-Q is the keyboard short cut.

Windows 8.1 and Office 2010

Has anyone experienced an issue with desktop icons moving to left side of desktop after amending an office document for the first time, and subsequent occasions.
I use MS Office 2010 on Windows 8.1. The view settings "Arrange Automatically" and "Align to Grid" are off. Office documents are arranged on the right hand side of the desktop. If I create a new document on the right,
open it and amend it, and then hit save button before closing it, the document will end up on the left hand side. This usually happens on the first initial amendment, and can happen again after subsequent saves. I have confirmed this on multiple
Windows 8.1 machines and also Windows 7 machine with Office 2003.

Add-in in Office 2010, doesn't work, shuts down Word/Excel

I have Acrobat Pro 9, Office 2010 Enterprise, Windows 7 64bit
I just got my computer back with the upgrades. When I try to use the acrobat in the tab/add-in in Word or Excel, it won't do anything, on all but one choice that when I click preferences, it shuts down the Word or Excel and I get this:
"Word experienced a serious problem with the acrobat pdfmaker office com addin' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, ( I have), you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?"
I saw another person asked last year but didn't find a solution. Any suggestions now?
It is very frustrating! I use Acrobat often at work and at home. I've disabled the add-in.

Acrobat 9 does not support Office 2010.
If you have Office 2010 32-bit, then Acrobat X Pro will work fine. Currently there is no Acrobat support for Office 2010 64-bit.

can't set up exchange with Office 2010 and windows 8
New windows 8 computer. Downloaded Office 2010 Home and business.
when I open it a pop up box comes in and asks for the Microsoft exchange sever info.
and then mail box.
I have provided them and double checked with my company they are correct.
when i hit the check name box it says not responding but then comes back with.
the name can't be resolved.
the connection to Microsoft exchange is unavailable.
outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

NOTE: The \User Shell Folders key also contains a string value called
Local AppData which is different from the value called AppData. The value that causes this problem (if it is missing) is the
AppData value.
To resolve the issue, we may try to import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile. For detailed steps, you can refer to the following KB article:
