MS Office 2013 -Sharepoint 2013 Issues

We have an MS-Office 2013 environment and we are rolling out MS Sharepoint 2013. While saving a new document from the MS-Office applications, we are experiencing erroneous behaviour.
When the document is saved to Sharepoint, it asks to Choose the  Content Type, and when it saves we get the following error:
This file cannot be save because some properties are missing or invalid.
After that we fill in the Document Properties (Metadata), and submits he document. It shows uploading to SharePoint on the Status bar.
And when we try to check in the document. Then the following error is generated:
We can't do that for you because the file is no longer checked out or has been deleted.
This behaviour happens when we are creating the new documents from all the MS-Office Applications. Please advice on how this issue can be resolved.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about uploading file to SharePoint.
Did you mean the issue only occur in the drop down library?
You can upload the files to a normal document library to check whether it works.
What’s more, to quickly and accurately find the issue, I recommend you can check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

    Hi,
In SharePoint 2013 Online, if you want to sync document library with local drive, you can use OneDrive to achieve it.

  • What to use (CRM 2013 / Sharepoint 2013 / ...)

    Hello together,
please imagine you have all products (SharePoint 2013, CRM 2013, Exchange 2013) in Setup and configured. What is in your opinion the best way to use.
    E.g. Tasks
You can create Team Site in SharePoint and and add a Task list. With MySite you can discover easily your Tasks even through different sites and they can be syncronised with Outlook. But These Tasks will not Show up in CRM.
All this is also possible to add Tasks in CRM and let them be syncronised with Outlook.
Where do you see the Advantages (and disadvantages) of each System.
    Thanks
    Bernhard

Too broad a question. It has to be decided by the business needs and the way it wants to work. Even the concept of advantages and disadvantages requires some knowledge of the business needs that they are being considered for.
You might well make use of all three systems for tasks in the same company for different teams, or even for the same team member. Or none of them.
This is a solution architecture level question, trying to decide the best product and approach for the client. That isn't an easy one to answer on a bulletin board.

  • "Connect to Office" in Sharepoint 2013

Hi Everyone. I need expert help. I have problems with this functionality on my local PC. I have full admin rights on my pc.
    Situation:
1 Using "Connect to Office" I want to create shortcuts to some document libraries in Microsoft Tools(Word, Excel).
2 After that I have got this link on MyQuickLinks.aspx page under my personal site.
3 Next step. I am going to Microsoft Tool(Word, Excel) try to open\save document. As I have read from some documents this is necessary for sync shortcuts
4 Then i am going to "SharePoint Sites" folder under my profile on local PC. C:\USERS\"___". Open this folder, but there are no any shortcuts there.
5 I have checked registry entries (got from this link http://www.jstevensblog.com/post/Connect-to-Office-SharePoint-Sites-Not-Working-e28093-SharePoint-2010.aspx
    The registry entries are valid.
6 Also, I have wait necessary time span.
Does anyone can describe how it works and what I need to check?.
    Thanks in advance?

    Hi Anton,
If the link has bee listed on MyQuickLinks.aspx page, it should be synced to "SharePoint Sites" folder under your account(e.g. mine is administrator in below image) folder, but it will need some time span (e.g. 24 hours or even longer).
You can also change the LinkPublishingFrequency registry value to a small value on client machine for a test per the following article(which is for Office2010, but you can try for Office 2013), see if it could sync the shortcut quickly.

  • Office 365 - SharePoint 2013 Online - App Domain

I have noticed that Microsoft itself using the same domain for app.
    example :
    hosting URL (office 365) : http://*.sharepoint.com
    App domain : http://*.sharepoint.com
According to TechNet: "You must configure a new name in Domain Name Services (DNS) to host the apps. To help improve security, the domain name should not be a subdomain of the domain that hosts the SharePoint sites. "
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161236%28v=office.15%29.aspx
my second question is that how app will work for vanity urls (host-named site collections)
like...  https://portal.domainA.com,  https://share.domainB.com and so on...
    thanks.
    ja

firstly on-premise bits can also be used to offer multi tenancy.
Inder : Yes it can be used for multi tenancy but it is rarely used. Which is why they share same service application and other settings. where in case of multi tenancy, security is taken into consideration and all service application are created in partitioned
mode. this helps not to share data between sites and security is maintained.
second part of your comments not much clearer..
below mentioned sites exists on the same web app.
    1. site collection url : https://test.domain.com   app url will be https://test-629dbe9907ec81.domain.com/app-name
Inder: There will always be one URL for app which will be used by all web applications and host header site collection.
Your app URL will be app.domain.com which will be used for all web application\site collections http://123.domain.com, http://456.domain.com, http://newdomain.com,
    http://anothernewdomain.com
    2. site collection url  : https://portal.test.com app url ?  and where to configure that.
Inder: This app.domain.com URL does work for https sites. :)
means unlimited app domains in SharePoint. or we are bound to use single domain for all?
Inder: Yes, single domain for app apps

  • Anonymous User forms in Sharepoint 2013 Online (Office 365)

I'm using Sharepoint 2013 online with Office 365.
Is there any way for an anonymous user to communicate with the site using forms (preferably Infopath)?
There are many, many versions of this question on the web, but most answers seem to talk about features I just don't have in Office 365 Sharepoint - such as Application Management in Central Administration, which just isn't there.
The only feature I can find is the Excel Survey in Form Templates. This is at least a start, but what I really want is the ability for an anonymous user (a customer) to submit information into a Custom List using a form; or, second best, in an email (WITHOUT
having to have Infopath Filler installed). this is all do-able for a fully-subscribed user of the intranet site, but I can't afford to buy individual subscriptions for all my customers. Nor do I want them seeing each other's data, or accessing my intranet!
I have spent so long researching this and getting nowhere, and really need to know if it's just a straight 'no, it's impossible', or keep trying.
    Thanks
    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to enable anonymous user with forms in SharePoint 2013 Online.
There is a Sandbox solution from CodePlex, it manages anonymous access on Office 365 / SharePoint 2013. Please have a try.
    https://anonymous365.codeplex.com/
In addition, I am not an expert for SharePoint 2013 Online, I suggest you create a new thread on SharePoint Online forum, more experts will assist you with SharePoint Online.

  • Formatting issues in sharepoint 2013 when copy/paste from word document

    Hi,
When we copy/paste content(rich text, tables, styles) from a word document to SharePoint site whole formatting is messed up.
is this the limitation of SharePoint 2013?
    Thanks,
    Shiva.

    Hi Shiva,
Some styles for font of rich text aren't be kept when I copy the content from Word 2013 and paste into a wiki page from SharePoint 2010/2013(even SharePoint 2007 like this
post) site as same as yours, it looks like a limitation.
As a workaround, we can publish the Word content as a Blog article in SharePoint site, then copy the content from the blog page to the needed SharePoint page, it will keep the rich text content format, you can have a try.

from the cloud and double it as a back up server on the local edition. otherwise the reports will be outdated.

  • Access Services forms/views in SharePoint 2013

So, in my enterprise we're about to upgrade to SP 2013 from 2010, and Office 2013 from 2007. Should be a hoot!
I'm interested in learning more about Access Services. I undertand that Access Services forms, now called views, are based on HTML 5. Can we present an Access form/view in the browser that has conditional formatting like we're used to in InfoPath--the ability
to show/hide form sections based on conditions?
    Thanks!

Yes. It is possible but not as flexible as InfoPath. We can still use Infopath BTW.

  • Building a GUI in SharePoint 2013

I’m planning on building some business processes that use SQL as the data source and allow SharePoint 2013 users to interact with the data. I’m not sure how to give the users a GUI inside SharePoint. I can use InfoPath, but that’s more for the data entry/collection
etc. I can use an Access Web App, but there are too many drawbacks. Can’t trigger workflows, cant access already existing databases, etc. The dashboards, Power View etc. are for reports, not data manipulation.
What exactly is the preferred method of creating a GUI inside SharePoint 2013 to allow this type of data interaction

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to create a GUI inside SharePoint 2013 to allow SQL data interaction.
I recommend that you can create external content type and external list to display the SQL data. For more information:
How to Create an External List Including a Database from SharePoint Designer 2013 -
    SharePoint 2013
To update external list with workflow, you can use the SharePoint designer workflow 2010 as the List Workflow action of the SharePoint 2013.
Here are some similar articles for your reference:

  • What is the best approach to setup intranet and internet sites in SharePoint 2013?

I am planning to setup a internet and intranet website for one of our client.  What is the best approach to setup this kind of environment?
Some of the users (registered users) from the internet should be able to access information in the intranet site.  I have created two web applications for intranet and internet.  Is it the right way to go forward?
    Thanks in advance! :)
    LM

    Hi Laemon,
Creating two separate web applications, one for Internet site and the other for Intranet is the right thing you have done.
    1. To properly plan creation of your web application, site collection and website is of utmost important to ensure you build your site in a professional and most recommended way. Go through this article from Technet that would help you plan your site in
    SharePoint 2013.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263267.aspx
    2. Planning and choosing the right authentication type is also a very important decision. I recommend you to go through the below article if you have not already gone through.
Plan for user authentication methods in SharePoint 2013
    3. Plan for licensing for your SharePoint 2013 Internet Facing Website.
Licensing Internet Sites Built on SharePoint 2013
SharePoint 2013 licensing for Internet facing sites
    4. To grant access to registered users to Intranet site (as you mentioned in question), if you created both web applications in same farm (same domain) then that would be easy to grant access using Site Permission with Windows Authentication enabled for
both web application. If both web applications are created on different domains then If there is a two-way trust in place, and the SharePoint servers have the necessary port access to the remote domain's Domain Controller, then it is automatic. If it is a
one-way trust, then you need to follow these directions:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263460(v=office.12).aspx
If there is no domain trust in place, then you either need to create one, or look at alternative technologies,
    such as ADFS.

  • Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013

is we required to connect to Internet?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that after Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013, you saw a new button Office 365.
As part of the SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1, Microsoft has starting to provide some way to implement a sort of hybrid mode – as we can already have with Exchange – with Office 365.
A new link/option shown in the Quick Launch menu on the left or in the Central Administration home page.
After clicking the Office 365, the two links provide you a way to configure a first level integration with your Office 365 to use Yammer (as this now included on Office 365 Enterprise plans) or OneDrive for Business on Office 365.

  • Saving MPP to SharePoint 2013 site from Project Pro 2013 fails

When syncing from MS Project Pro 2013 to SharePoint 2013 it does not save the MPP file in the Site Assets
Have MS Project Pro 2013, SharePoint 2013, IE 9, Windows 7
    The scenario is as follows.
    1. Have a SharePoint Project site
    2. I open up the task list in the SharePoint site and added tasks just using the available default fields that are provided. NO external links
    are in the task list.
    3. Selected the Open with MS Project option in the task list ribbon. MS Project 2013 launched from my desktop with the task list opened in it.
    4. In Project selected the Sync with SharePoint option and it did sync successfully with task list but it did NOT save the project file in the
SharePoint site.  In addition, No error or warning message appeared.
    5. Selected Save button in MS Project – again it did not save to SharePoint but instead brought up the Save As screen again.

    Karen,
To the best of my knowledge synching a Project file with a SharePoint task list and saving the project file to a library on SharePoint are two separate processes.
You may synch the file to the SP list and then save the Project file to a library.  Are you using Project Server?
