MS Office install?
My macbook came with the trial edition of MS Office. I want to run the full version, but I want to make sure I have the correct software before I open the box. I have "MS Office Mac 2004 Standard Edition Upgrade" - is this the right software? The box says to be eligible to use it I must be a licensed user of one of the older versions (Word 98, etc). Does the trial version the macbook came with count?
You have an Upgrade version of Office which means you must have a fully licensed older version already installed. The Trial version that came with your computer does not count. It cannot be upgraded to a full version.
To install a full version of Office 2004 X you will need the full installer, not an upgrade installer, unless you have an earlier version of Office as indicated on the box. In which case you should delete the Trial version on the computer (do not run the Trial version. If you do, then you must use the uninstaller to remove it before attempting to install a fully working version.) Then install your older version after which you can upgrade. Note that the only older version you would be able to install is Office X, the predecessor to Office 2004 X.

Microsoft office installed on server
do you require Microsoft office installed on server for it to work and use reports viewed in excel??
Are you trying to install Office Web Apps 2013 on the same server as SharePoint Server 2013? Sorry I could not figured that part from your post. If you are installing OWA on SP 2013 server then it is not possible in SP 2013. You will need to install OWA
on different server where SharePoint is not installed. Basically a dedicated OWA server(s).

Our IMac has Microsoft Office installed so my daughter can do homework. The problem we have is moving files to a travel drive to take work to school to use on the school computer (PC). How do we do it?
The Mac's Finder is the same thing as the Windows Explorer. Insert your Flash drive and you will see it become available in the sidebar of a Finder window under "Devices." If it does not appear here then try going to the Finder menu, select Preferences, and then in the Sidebar section checkthe option to include "External disks" in the sidebar (you can also check the option in the General section to have disks show on the Desktop).
When this is done, you can then drag any file from any accessible location in the Finder to the disk device in the sidebar and have it copy to the disk. You can also select items (use the Command and Shift keys in selecting to select more than one item) and then press Command-C to "Copy" followed by going to the disk, opening it, and pressing Command-V to paste the items to the disk and effectively copy them that way.
When finished select the disk and press Command-E to eject it, which can also be done by right-clicking it and choosing Eject, dragging it to the Trash from the Desktop, or by clicking the little Eject button that appears when you hover your mouse over the drive in the sidebar. -
Can i have MS Office installed on an iMac
Can you have Microsoft Office installed on an iMac
Go to Apple menu -> About this Mac.
If it says iMac G3, iMac G4, or G5 you are in the correct forum. If it says Intel, we can ask to have your thread moved, as the Intels are not PPC. -
Does the Ipad mini w/ retina display offer the ability to have microsoft office installed?
Can the ipad mini have the ability to have microsoft office installed? Looking at possibly purchasing one for school.
There are a number of apps that are compatible with Office documents. As UK-Max said, Apple makes iOS versions of their own iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) which will be free with the purchase any new iPad; they can be purchased separately for older iPads. There are also 3rd party combined suites that cost less than the separate Apple apps. Ones often recommended include Documents 2 Go, Quickoffice and Office2 HD.
If you can accept needing a network connection whenever you want to use the apps and have an Office 365 subscription, Microsoft has just released their Office Mobile app, though it has significant limitations. Or a server-based solution such as CloudOn might be an option for you.

I just bought a Macbook Air almost a month now. When I bought it, the technician installed Microsoft Office 365 as they were having a promotion at the time. However after a week of using it, it started popping up a notice saying that it cannot verify Microsoft Office. I still managed to open the word document but as of today, it will not open. I took it to the Mac store last week, and they said that there was nothing wrong with it and they could not figure out any problem.
I don't know what to do and I am in desperate need of help. I cannot open my documents at all and I have my research paper that I need to finish writing. This is very disappointing and extremely stressful for me. If anyone has any suggestions of how this can be fixed, please let me know. I do not want to lose my hard work =(Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription - based service. You have to pay for it... and keep paying for it... and paying for it... as in 365 days a year... or lose your hard work.
Office Home Premium is a mere $10 a month, but a convenient annual subscription is only $100 a year. This is a substantial discount to Microsoft's Office 365 business products ($150 / employee / year).
Such a deal! Are you not absolutely thrilled?
Here are some slightly more reasonable alternatives, all of which are compatible with their Office equivalents:
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free if you can find it)
OpenOffice (completely free)
Numbers ($19.99)
Pages ($19.99) -
Hello,
My client is planning on deploying branch office and is hitting
the limit of 16 concurrent users. They need about 20-25
concurrent users.
Can branch office me installed more than once on the
same server? Is this a supported configuration?
thanks in advance,
mikeHi
You will need to make sure all the ports are open for traffic to move between both DC's. Also need to check that you dont have replication problems, IE, slow link. First step would be to see if you can ping the HO DC from the branch, then once you have established
that you have all the ports open and your VLAN is routing traffic correctly then you can start with your DC setup.
You can first upgrade your DC, look at this blog:

Photoshop CS2 crashes after MS Office install
Hello everyone,
I have been using Photoshop CS2 without any problems since I bought my new iMac a few months ago. I haven't used Photoshop for a week or so, and I am not sure if my last system update to 10.6.8 was before or after that pause in my Photoshop use. What I am sure of is that the day before yesterday I installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2011.
Since yesterday Photoshop crashes like crazy: sometimes right on startup, sometimes when I do something like open a new document or whatever. I cannot find any systematics as to when Photoshop crashes, only that it usually crashes pretty quickly.
Below is the latest crash report. I don't know if the others say the same. Can anyone understand what the reason for the crash is or even if it is related to the Office installation or bad fonts or ...?
Thank you!!!

I've been using CS2 for several years, and currently under OS 10.5.6 (so it is NOT an OS 10.6.x issue). I've been very careful to keep permissions repaired etc. before & after any major install or update. Never, ever had any problem with CS2, none. A few weeks ago, I upgraded from Office Mac 2008 to 2011. Everything seemed fine with the Mac until the next time I used CS2 to scan some docs, but it started crashing for no apparent reason. I was about to try re-installing CS2 or even pay to upgrade to CS5 (CS2 is fine for my needs ... back when it worked). I'm glad I googled "office 2011 photoshop" and found this series of posts. qwertyboy's original post sounded as if I had written it! I hope the font thing is the fix ... however, that seems like the kind of problem that would have affected a Mac 20 years ago back in the dark ages of running OS 7, not a modern OS ... shame on MS software code people for not following Apple Developer guidelines for managing fonts or whatever. Thanks all for the good posts!
PS: I need to comment on the crash report:
"I say it's not Office because there isn't one reference to Office in the crash report. All are squarely Adobe PS."
That's like saying it was Abe Lincoln's fault that he was assassinated because he didn't get out of the way of John Wilkes Booth's bullet; the evidence being that Lincoln's blood was all over the place, but none of Booth's was found. -
Odd error with MS Office Install and transforms
Hello,
I'm seeing this on our new Dell PCs that we are delivering to our staff. We create the image, test it, and it works fine. We then deliver the PCs to the user, user logs in, Windows creates profile, etc, but MS Office (2002) won't run - for that user. If I use the account we use for imaging, this we Word, Excel, PowerPoint work normally. For newly profile users, we see the error message:
"Microsoft Word [or Excel or Powerpoint] has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."
This makes no sense to me. If we install again, it works for that user, but not other users.
I did find an MS KB article that says we have to uninstall/reinstall MS Office - any other thing that it could be? Installing/reinstalling seems to be just a patch.
I recreated the transforms file to specifically state ALLUSERS=2, so it will force all users who log into the PC to be allowed to use the apps, but it's not working. My app points to the transform file, Office installs, but 1) I still get the above error and 2) Outlook installs, even though I instruct the transform to not install it.
Suggestions?
Thanks

757-788-0528Okay, thanks. What's really annoying is that I've never had an issue with this until we got our new Dell models in - so it could be that our my image is somehow damaged. Time to recreate...

I disagree. It states:
"If ALLUSERS=2, the installer always resets the ALLUSERS
property to null or 1 based on whether it determines to do a
per-user or a per-machine installation."
The only reason to use ALLUSERS=2 would be if you explicit
wanted the Installer to always evaluate which kind of install it
should do.
Assuring a per-machine install, which I understand is your aim,
specify ALLUSERS=1.

Find if Microsoft Office installed programmatically
Hi,
Is there a way to find if Microsoft Office is installed on the computer programmatically? I need to generate different format of report depends on if Word and Excel is installed or not.
Thanks!

T61 can't read audio CD's or MS Office install CD's
I have a T61 with T7700 processor and a DVD Multi drive in it. I have been in contact with Lenovo tech several times and have tried multiple diagnostic attempts to find the problem. The computer has already been back to Lenovo in Tennessee once and was returned to me with the exact same problem.
The computer cannot install MS Office 2007, 2003, or 1997. It cannot read audio CD's, yet it worked to burn a set of DVD system restore disks and worked to read and install the system from those disks.
I temporarily replaced the DVD with a known good identical one from my daughter's T61 and it exhibited the same problem. Lenovo sent out a new set of restore disks (the tech suspected a bad original image) and I installed a new clean copy of Vista Pro. The same problem persisted so the computer was sent in to Lenovo for repairs.
Lenovo (at my request) re-immaged the hard drive with a downgrade to XP Pro and removed a 3rd party ram stick from my computer stating that it was the cause of the problem. I received the computer back (very fast turnaround) and spent several hours updating all files on the XP install (as per their instructions) they provided to current. I then proceeded to try to install my MS Office. The drive would not recognize the disk. THEY FIXED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Today I had 3 conversations with a nice lady in Georgia and I ran a series of PC Doctor (F11 at boot) tests for her. CD drive always failed, one DVD test failed, but the "bad ram" passed all tests when I inserted it back into the computer. I burned 2 self -booting disks on my R61 (one CD and one DVD) for firmware update (from Lenovo's site as per the tech's recommendation) and tried to boot the computer from the CD. The computer failed to recognize the CD, but did recognize the DVD and booted into the update program. The update program confirmed that there was no firmware update available as I had learned from the Lenovo tech before the computer went in the first time.
It would seem the drive is bad, however, that does not explain why the same problems exists when I put a known working drive that can read those disks into the drive bay. If it was the drive, it should be able to read the disks with the replacement drive.
I suspect the motherboard is the source of the problem.
Now I am waiting for the 2nd pickup box to be delivered to send it back (with all documentation of what has been tried enclosed) to Lenovo for a second attempt at repairing this computer.
Does anyone out there have any ideas as to what the problem might be so I can include those ideas in the box and hopefully not have to send this in a 3rd time.

That sounds pretty logical to me. If you've tried another drive and it works, and reinstalled Windows, I don't know what's left. Perhaps there something wrong with the connector in the machine. You should try your drive in your daugther's machine, just to rule out it out.

Flash Fixed: Now XCLS thinks I don't have Microsoft Office installed (?)
Note: I changed the subject because I didn't want to spam the board with a 2nd topic.
UPDATE: So I fixed the flash issue; apparently having the universal flash installer installed is different from the dedicated IE activex flash installer. So now that I get past that, it now says I need Office XP or later installed (I currently am running Office 2010).
I was really looking forward to trying this out but the hassle of getting this working is starting to become ridiculous. =/

Adobe's Flash Version Tester shows me running WIN 10,1,82,76. However, when I go to install Xcelsius Present I receive the error message:
"SAP BusinessObjects Xcelsius 2008 requires Adobe Flash Player (9,151 or later). You must install the Flash Player using Internet Explorer from www.adobe.com before installing Xcelsius.
The installation then cancels, citing premature ending because of an error.
I am pretty eager to try Xcelsius out as it seems it would be really useful, but I am at a loss as to why it wont install when I have flash 10.1 on this machine.
Any help is appreciated.
Edited by: Xuthus on Aug 26, 2010 4:41 PMHi Vivek
Rather than adding the ghost entry, I resolved this issue by uninstalling Xcelsius and reinstalling Xcelsius 2008 SP3 using the Custom method. I added the SDK option since it was unchecked by default. The installation ran as expected. I am now able to grab the xcelsiusframework.swc from the installation directory and use it in Flex Builder to create custom Xcelsius components.
Let me know if you have resolved your issue.

Adobe Livecycle add-in for Office - Install & SSO support?
I'm trying out contentspace plugin for MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and I encountered 2 problems:
1) Installation only works for users with administrative rights and although i choosed to install plugin for all users, other users can't see the plugin - as if not installed at all.
2) Although I enabled SPNEGO authentication (I'm usign smart cards for Windows logon) and all applications (contentspace, workspace, rights management in Reader and in Word with rights management plugin) work - it seems that contentspace plugin doesn't support SSO and always expects username/password in it's configuration. This is unacceptable for my project because all users use Smart cards.
Is there some configuration to be changed to enable SSO for contentspace plugin or this is it?
I'm using latest LC 8.2 SP2 and Office 2003.Hi,
The LiveCycle Designer addin currently only supports Designer 7.0 and 7.1. On our site, we have a sample that showcase how to integrate designer based forms (xdp), livecycle forms, and Microsoft Visual Studio dotNet. The URL is http://www.ensemble.com/samples/adobe/dotnet/dvdstore . Let me know if you have additional questions. My email is davidl AT ensemble.com.

Trouble importing from p3 after office install
Has anyone else had trouble importing photos from digital camera after installing Office for Mac 2011? Now iPhoto won't recognize my files, and what came up in the import folder were about 160 icky clip art icons, which I quickly deleted. If there's a fix (other than uninstalling software), please advise.
Terence, hi. I'm doing what I had done previously (successfully), plugging in my Nikon digital camera via the USB port and turning on the camera. I checked preferences and it's set to connect the camera in iPhoto.
