MS Office Program Accessibility from Different Users

I have OS 10.8.4 and am running MS Word 12.3.6. I can access all the MS programs just fine with my user account. My wife and son can no longer access the MS programs with their user accounts. Every time they try to open any MS program they get the registration program. We try to register and it tells us we don't have to do that but it will still not open the programs. Anyone?

The query made from SQVI is only intended for individual use. It cannot be transported and there is no concept of Global/Standard area. To be able to transport or share the query to other users is by converting it to SAP Query wherein the source of data will also be converted to an Infoset. Remember that is done in the Standard query area. To do this, go to SQVI-> click SAP Query then go to menu Query -> Convert Quickviews... Select your Quickview queries and provide and infoset name.

How can I consolidate all photos from different users on one computer?

We just enable one computer to be the "Family" computer. I want to be able to consolidate all photos from the different users into one location. That way no matter wich user is login they can see and browse all the family photos. How can I do that? Do I need and external drive?

Move the iPhoto Library to the Users/Shared folder, or you can use an external disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Merge the Libraries as Larry says, with the paid version of Library Manager.
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Each account will have full access to the library, in fact, each account will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

The case is when I created a customer table Ztable and using table maintenace generator to get the Tcode Ztcode. My questions is how can 2 different user at the same time running this Ztocde without locking with each other?

[SOLVED] Partition & Access for different users

Hey guys, I’m kind of lost and need some help.
Scenario:
My computer is set up with two hard drives: one SSD, which holds Arch and the /home folder, and a regular HDD, which holds the /var folder and where all data should go on two separate partitions.
Both partitions are mounted at /mnt/HDD2 and /mnt/HDD3.
Naturally, they both belong to root. However, since I want to be able to save all my music, games and whatnot on these two partitions I need to be able to access them as a normal user. On a single user system that would be a no-brainer; I would simply change the ownership. However, I plan to have another user use my computer from time to time and thus need to have the partitions accessible not only for one but a second user as well. And that’s where I can’t get things to work.
First I’ve changed the group for the partition (users) and added both users to the corresponding group (users) but could not write on the partition.
Then I’ve run chmod a+rxw on the partition. Beside the fact that I think that this is quite an inelegant solution, newly created folders where still only accessible by the corresponding user.
I’ve also set the SGID-Bit but no dice either.
Now I’m totally lost. Obviously, I’m missing something but I don’t see what.
tl;dr: I need access to a partition for different users on a single system so that they can easily save, write and share files between each other.
Any help appreciated.

Problem solved.
I ended up using umask. It's basically a single user system anyway with a second user only using it from time to time and both of us having their own group. So it should be relatively save using umask.
I've changed the owner and group of the partition:
chown user1:group /mnt/HDD
...and the permissions:
chmod 2770 /mnt/HDD
...and added both users to the corresponding group of the partition:
gpasswd -a user1 group
gpasswd -a user2 group
Finally I've changed umask to 007 for each individual user while leaving the system-wide umask untouched.

How to compare index names and columns from different user?

I am using below query to compare two indexes from 2 different users but even though index name and columns are same... result shows me they are different.. what I am doing wrong? Thanks

So index_owner is 'USER1' in one case, and 'USER2' in the other; right?
A string that starts with 'USER1' will be distinct from a string that starts with 'USER2', no matter what the rest of the string contains. Maybe you don't want to compare the owners, or maybe you meant to use some other column (such as table_name) instead of index_owner).

If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE, CREATE INDEX and CONNECT statements), and also post the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0).

BSP data from different user mixed up

Our stateful BSP application is called from the portal. How can it be possible that two different users at two different locations with different session id's can see information from the other person?

Hi Sander,
this can happen if you enable server cache. One user calls the page with his relevant information, then the page is cached and each other user who calls the same page gets the cached one instead of his own page.
Please have a look at the "Properties" tab of your page and check that the Cache is set to 0 sec.

Sharing 2 folders, each from different Users, simultaneously

Hi,
I'm trying to share certain folders of two different users (on one computer) simultaneously, but am running into an error. I'm hoping someone here can help.
On our Mac Mini (10.4.11) there is a folder (in user account "A") that is shared with everyone in our studio. Each of them has a link to it on their Finder window sidebar so they connect to it effortlessly anytime. I just set up a second user account (user "B") on the Mini to share one of B's account's folders with only a few people here (It's some admin type stuff that not everyone should have access to.) I placed a similar link in the Finder sidebars of the few people who may access that folder.
I have tried the connections and each works fine individually, but I cannot seem to connect to both folders at the same time. If I am already connected to one of the folders, then trying to connect to the other one gives the error message "Mount Failed. Unable to mount the volume "<other user account>". I need it to work such that those people here who are allowed access to the admin files (in User B) can get to them without having to unmount the User A folder.
I'm guessing this is a permissions related issue, but I'm not sure, and despite having searched around a fair bit, I haven't found a solution.

Oddly enough, I've got Sharepoints though I wasn't finding that I needed it for the basic sharing I was doing. However, I've set it up now and have shared the folders normally. Each folder is accessible, but again, not simultaneously. I am now looking into setting up Groups. I will try what you have recommended...
Hmm. I think I'm getting part way there, but certainly not all the way, since I'm still get the same result as my original post. Evidently I'm not getting something right:
What I've done in Sharepoints is made 2 new Groups, A and B. For Group A I've added (using SP's big + button) the User that has the folder everyone can get to. For Group B I've added the User whose folder everyone can get to plus the User whose folder one a few people should be able to get to.
Then, still in SP, over at the "Normal shares" tab, I clicked "Show File System Properties". For the folder everyone can get to, I've set the Group drop-down menu to Group A (and pressed "Update Share") For the folder only a few can get to, I've set the Group drop-down menu to Group B (and pressed "Update share"). Having done all this though, I'm still not able to (as a Group B user) get to both folders simultaneously.
Am I missing a step or setting somewhere?

Restore mailbox from different user

I got a new Mac. For some reasons I decided to start with a fresh Useraccount. For the most applications I was able to restore settings and mire from the former time machine backup of the old computer. But with Mail it doesn't work. It's not enough to restore user/library/applications support/mail...... . It's also not working to open mail, choose time machine backup from another disk. As it is a different user I can not restore anything.
How do I restore Mailbox from an other user properly?

F-53 Doc. No. Fields showing Different from Different User ID

Dear Experts,
There have some field related problem in f-53 t code. When I Login from my ID in f-53, selecting doc. no. radio button at Aditional Selection and enter the it is showing 27 fields, but when I login from another user id then it is showing 20 fields.
Anybody can tell me where is the problem? There have any configuration on that?

Please execute SU53 in both users after when you have executed F-53 and see missing line items. There seems a missing authorization for some documents. Please also check the input criteria given by you in F-53 like company code and vendor.

How do I access time machine from different user account

Hi there.
Last week I had to take my comupter into the local Apple Store because I was having problems with Boot Camp. The genius at the store had to delete everything from my hard drive and reinstall it from my external hard drive. As part of the process she created a "Apple" user account. I now want to restore some files (unrelated to this Boot Camp story) from my time machine archive. However, all the files prior to this Apple Store encounter are red -- and it says I do not have permission to view them. When I click "get info" it says that the "Apple" account has the read/write access to them and the option to unlock them is greyed out. How can I get these files from the archive and get them onto my main user account where they belong? The "Apple" account does not have a password so I think I can easily log on as that account, but I don't know where to go from there.
PS The files in question are iTunes libraries.

Ok, I fixed it. Here's what I did.
I logged into my computer under the Apple account. Then I went into Time Machine. I found my old files under Users-->"my main account". I was able to restore those files to Users-->Shared. Then I was able to log back into "my main account" and retrieve the files from the shared folder. It worked! Hope this helps someone else some time!

WIRELESS ACCESS FROM DIFFERENT LOCATIONS

I bought a brandnew Airport Extreme and I want to connect an external hard disk to it on which disk I want to store all my files.
I use a Imac computer in my location in Amsterdam, a Imac computer and a Macbook Air in our secondhome in another regio far away in Holland and also
2 Ipads ( no. 2 and no. 3) for use on the road.
On the 3 Macs I run OS X Mavericks and there is a WIFI remote internetconnection in both locations, however each internetconnection runs through different internetproviders.
Is it possible to get access to the files on the hard disk connected to the Airport Extreme by using the different internetconnections on the two separate locations and if so, can anybody tell me how or provide me with usefull hints?

Please check out the following AirPort User Tip. It should provide you with some options on how you can access the AirPort Disk from a remote location. Using different ISPs should not matter.

How to limit file access for different users in 10.7.4 Server

We had everything working perfectly with an earlier version of Lion Server. The update to 10.7.3, or 4, seems to have opened access to all files for all users. Much to our surprise, this wide-open access started without warning.
- We have an external drive that contains all of the company's archives
- We had set access for one employee to get to the files he needs, and different access for another employee. Neither saw sharepoints outside of their access settings.
After an update, each employee can see and log in to all sharepoints. There doesn't seem to be a way to limit access for each employee now. I can set 'read' access for one employee, but it doesn't stop the other employee from accessing that sharepoint/folder.
Is there some new way to go about this? Or is something simply broken with the current release?

That is good to know. If the file share is seeing the drive and ignoring its permissions, that is why everyone can see everything. I have found, in Lion Server, that it is best to get the permissions set before turning on File Sharing. I don't know if you have the luxury of turning the file share off for a little while, but I would unshare the drive and see if the issue persists if you plug the external drive into another machine. The settings for permissions are set on the file or folder itself, so the issue should follow you to the other machine.
Again, if you can, I would unshare the drive and reshare it with the permissions that you want and turn file sharing back on. However, if you can get the drive to respect permissions rather than ignoring them, I think it will save you a lot of work.

Just an idea:
create a table with one column to store the userid. Each time the program ist started, you execute a SELECT COUNT( * ) on that table and EXIT from your program as soon as the table contains more that 2 entries. In case the table does not contain more than two entries, you can proceed after adding the SY-UNAME to that table. At the end of the prgram you have to delete SY-UNAME from that table.
