MS Outlook 2010 Professional Plus - Word couldn't send mail because of a MAPI failure: "Operation not supported".

I'm receiving the following error when attempting to email directly out of MS Word 2010
The environment: MS Windows XP SP3. MS Office 2010 Professional Plus. Steps to error: I'm attempting to send the document as an email using File > Save & Send > Send Using E-mail > Send as Attachment.
About 8 months ago I had an identical error in MS Office 2010 Beta and did troubleshooting for a few days and was able to resolve it. I'm kicking myself because I didn't take note as to what finally fixed it. Last week I uninstalled Beta and installed
MS Office 2010 when we got our volume copy/key.
The same error occurs in our service desk application Track-It! 5.0 when attempting to email a requestor directly out of the program using a shortcut key; when I resolved this error in MS Office 2010 Beta it resolved it both for MS Word 2010 Beta and Track-It!
5.0.
Attempts thus far to resolve:
Reinstalled MS Office 2010
Repair of MS Office 2010
System Restore to prior to uninstallation of MS Office 2010 Beta (did not go well, reversed System Restore)
Thanks.

Hi,
Try to
rename the Mapi32.dll file, and then start the Fixmapi.exe program:
Click
Start, and then click Search.
Click
All files and folders.
In the
All or part of the file name box, type mapi32.dll, and then click
Search.
When the search process is complete, right-click the
Mapi32.dll file, and then click Rename.
Type
Mapi32.old, and then press ENTER.
Click
Start a new search, and then click All files and folders.
In the
All or part of the file name box, type fixmapi.exe, and then click
Search.
When the search process is complete, double-click
Fixmapi.exe to start the repair process.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.
If this does not work, try to run the program as administrator. Go to the location of WINWORD.EXE and create a shortcut from it by right-clicking - then choose
'compatibility mode' and select 'Run as administrator, save your shortcut to the desktop.

This issue is crossposted in Microsoft Answers Word and OUTLOOK.  I am posting here in hopes that someone at Mircrosoft may have a solution or at least elevate the issue to someone who does.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/officeversion_other-word/word-could-not-send-mail-because-of-mapi-failure/f62678fe-ef1d-42b5-8cfe-1e43d6a1d609

I dabble with VBA and write and maintain several amateur Word Add-Ins.  Accordingly, I have Word 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 installed on my PC.  They get along fine.  However, I am unable to "Share" or "Send" an open Word
document as an E-mail attachment in any version!  In each case Word returns an error mesage "Word couldn't send mail because of a MAPI failure, Unspecified error (the same issue occurs with Excel and Powerpoint except the error dialog is a bit different.)
Using Word 2003, I (CAN) "Send to (Mail recipient for review)" in which case OUTLOOK is opened with the document as an attachment.  I can also "Send to Mail Recipient" from Windows Explorer, in which case the Word file is attached to
an OUTLOOK message, and I can create an instance of OUTLOOK and send mail from Word using VBA.
I have repaired all Office versions.  I have removed the registry keys for all office versions and repaired all versions again.  I have run "fixmapi" until I am blue in the face. I have renamed the MAPI32.DLL files and ran sfc \scannow
to ensure that the MAPI32.DLL file is not corrupt.  In view of these actions and in view of what I can do, something tells me that the MAPI files are fine.
So what is this "Unspecified error?"  This problem is rife on the internet and most of the "canned" solutions have been marked "Answered" by some MS support engineer.  These "canned" solutions might have
fixed the issue at one point, but they don't work now.  At least not for me.
    Thanks.

    Hello Greg,
I noted that there are 2 knowledge articles that describe scenarios where you may encounter this error.
KB 291152 You receive a "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure" error message when you try to send a Word document as an e-mail attachment in Word 2002
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291152/EN-US
KB 929362 You cannot send a file by clicking Send in a different program when Outlook 2007 is running as administrator
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929362/EN-US
Please let me know the following:
    1. What version of Outlook are you using?
    2. Do you have Outlook open when you attempt the File > Share > Email as attachment from Word? If not, does the error occur if you open Outlook, open Word and then try to send the email?
    3. If you close/reopen Word and then try the send again, do you get the same error?
    4. Are you running either Outlook or Word in an elevated mode?
    5. What happens if you start both Outlook and Word as "Run As Administrator". You may have to right-click each applications' .exe file to be able to choose the "Run As Administrator" option.
    6. Do you get the same error when using File > Share > Email as attachment using Excel?
    7. In Internet Explorer, open the Internet Options. On the General tab within the browsing history, delete your temporary Internet files and website files
    8. Does the issue occur in selective startup mode?
Steps to setup selective startup mode:
Click on the Windows Start button, in the Search box type msconfig and then hit enter. This should open up the System Configuration Utility. Make the following adjustments within each tab.
    Services Tab:
      - Check the option 'Hide All Microsoft Services'
     - Click on button 'Disable All'
    Startup Tab:
     - Click the button 'Disable All'
     - Go back through the list and enable any Microsoft items
Click Ok. It will say “You must restart your computer for some of the changes
made by System Configuration to take effect”. Hit the ‘Restart’ button.
When the PC reboots try to run your test again.
To return back to a normal boot launch msconfig again and choose 'normal startup' on the general tab, click Ok and then reboot the PC.

  • Outlook 2010 Professional Plus Send/Receive Issue

When my client leaves for the day and his computer is idle his outlook 2010 Professional Plus stops sending/receiving.  Because of this NONE of his emails get forwarded to his phone when he is away from his computer.  I've spent HOURS trying
to figuring this issue out, but I have not been successful.  Please help me make send/receive work continuously.

    Hi,
The user can’t send/receive any emails, not just can’t forward emails to his phone, right? If I’ve misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.
Did he forward emails to his phone with Outlook rules?
Did he get any error message or the outgoing emails just stuck in Outbox?
Can he send/receive emails from web access? If not, please contact the user’s ISP to help resolve the problem.
If web mail works fine, we can follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue on Outlook side:
    1. Please check if Outlook shows Disconnect on the bottom of the Window. Hold Ctrl key and right click on the Outlook icon on the tray, click Connection Status to check if your email account is disconnected.
    2. If the user installed any security programs, please temporarily turn off them to check the result.
    3. Try to reset Send/Receive settings to check the result. To do this, go to
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
Locate the <profilename>.srs file and rename it to
<profilename>.old and restart Outlook to check the result.
    4. If above not working, please try to create a new mail profile and setup the email account in the new profile to check the result.

    Hope this helps.

  • Business Contact Manager Plugin does not install successfully in Outlook 2010 Professional Plus

I work for a company that has provided me with a volume licensed version of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010. We do a lot of customer tracking so I looked into options to utilize Outlook and found out about the Business Contact Manager plugin. I tried
to download and install it from the public site but was informed that the public version would not work and that I would need to request a compatible version from my company that they could access through a contracted download portal.
I worked with support and they were able to locate the file and install it on my computer. Once I tried to start working with it though I found that there was no Business Contact Manager tab or any of the additional functionality that I needed.
I contacted support to follow up and they again tried several times to install the plug in, but although there was never any error message the installation also never resulted in the business contact manager tab being added or in any reference to it being
added to my list of plugins.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features, can you see any version of Business Contact Manager installed? If yes, please uninstall it first from there, then delete the registry keys below(if they exist):
    ImportantThis
section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry
before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\microsoft.businesssolutions.ecrm..outlookaddin..connect.1
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Business Contact Manager
Then we can try performing a clean boot to install Business Contact Manager again. In Clean Boot Mode, it can eliminate the conflict by background programs as much as possible. Check if you can install it properly:

  • Visio 2013 and Office 2010 Professional Plus

I am using KMS.  Both Office 2010 and Office 2013 keys are installed on the KMS server.  On a Windows 7 system, Office 2010 Professional Plus in installed and activated.  Visio 2013 Professional is also installed, but it is not activated.
I see hits in the event log for activation requests, furthermore slmgr.vs /dlv all shows a 4 count for Office 15, KMSHostVL edition.  This is probably correct, we haven't deployed Office 2013 or many Visio 2013 apps.  The problem is every time I
open Access 2010, the Office installer runs.  This does not happen for Word, Excel or Outlook.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem or how to troubleshoot it?
I tried running the VA client diagnostic tool, but it said Office was activated.  I am sure in looked at my 2010 Pro and not the 2013 Visio.
    Thanks

when you have a combination of Office products installed upon a single machine, (even sometimes with a single product installed), the Office applications can sometimes suffer a repair/re-registration sequence upon application launch.
This can happen in non-KMS scenarios, and, is usually caused by missing registry keys or a damaged installation.
It can also be caused by updating/patching one of the Office products, since updating/patching will sometimes cause the registry entries to be re-written, which can "toggle" the registered default application.
This is one of several reasons why MS recommend against having multiple versions of Office installed upon a machine.
Try a repair of Office2010, to see if that will correct the registration of Access2010. If successful, then check Visio2013 is still launching ok. Then check Access one more time (to see if launching Visio has disrupted Access again).

  • End tag error in Office 2010 professional plus

I have my research paper got corrupted some how. When I try to open it, I get the following error:
"The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag.
    Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line 2, Column: 5119889"
I am using Office 2010 Professional Plus.
I tried to install office service pack 1, but I get this error: "The expected version of the product is not found on the system"
I need to restore this document as the deadline of paper submission is approach fast. I would really appreciate any kind of help.

Seems that you've received an "end tag" error when you open a DOCX file in Word 2010. After installing Office 2010 SP1 as
KB2528942 suggested but get the error "The expected version of the product is not found on the system".
Office 2013 and Office 2010 Service Pack 1 resolves this issue for new files. It will also prevent the problem from recurring with any files that were recovered with the Fix it solution in this
    article.
Have you tried to install the hotfix in
    KB2528942 "fix for me" section?
If you are familiar with editing XML, you can try to fix the problem yourself by correcting the mismatched oMath tags in the document. See the following example:
    Incorrect tags:
    <mc:AlternateContent>
    <mc:Choice Requires=”wps”>
    <m:oMath>
    </mc:AlternateContent>
    </m:oMath>
    Correct tags:
    <m:oMath>
    <mc:AlternateContent>
     <mc:Choice Requires=”wps”>
    </mc:AlternateContent>
    </m:oMath>
Note: unzip the source file by unzip tool and you will also have to use an application such as Notepad to edit the XML.
    Feel free to post back.

  • Where can I re-download 2010 Professional Plus?

I ordered a copy of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus for my wife's netbook computer a few years ago through my employer's home use programme. I downloaded it directly from the MS website at the time.
I'm still with the same employer and have recently bought my wife a new desktop PC. I've moved all her data to it, and naturally she wants to use Word again. Unfortunately, while I have the product / activation
key from the original purchase, the Microsoft web site won't let me re-download the software; the error message reads, "The Office 2012 Product Key provided represents a product which is not eligible for free download."
How can I re-install the software?

You can either purchase the current Office2013 product via the Home Use Program (HUP), or, obtain a copy of the Office2010ProPlus disc (or setup files on a flash drive) from your employer and use your product key with that.
If you still have the original email from HUP (when you purchased Office2010), the link for download, may still be valid.
The Office website for re-download, is for Retail purchases, not for HUP.

  • KB2837583 CU for Office 2010 Professional Plus breaks multiple line fields document information panel

When we install CU KB2837583 for Office 2010 Professional Plus I get an error on the document information panel in Word while saving the document to SharePoint 2010.
The error shows a red border around the multiple lines field "Adres" saying that the field contains errors.
We had this issue before with CU
KB2760758, this was a bug and Microsoft has fixed this with Service Pack 2. Now we have the same issue again with this cumulative update.
    Microsoft knows this bug and
    is working on a solution?

    Hi,

  • How do I correct Error 1402 when installing 64-bit Office 2010 Professional Plus?

During installation of Office Professional Plus (64-bit) on a 64-bit Dell PC with 4 GB RAM, installation fails about 75 percent of the way through resulting in file roll back.  Display:  Error 1402 "Setup cannot open the registry key ('UNKNOWN\Components\DA42.

I tried registry cleaning (CCleaner) and "regedit" plus Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the 32-bit version of Officer 2007 Professional, cleaned the cache again, re-booted and attempted to re-install Office Pro Plus 2010 but got the same error
1402 message.  Clearly, I have not corrected the registry error and do not know how to do more than what I described here.  Any ideas out there?
    Thank you!

To all that encounter the same problem...use this advice from michelsmith!
I have just had numerous dramas over the last few weeks with Microsoft office 2010 professional plus. My first issue was a skype virus I infected my computer with which stuffed around with security settings and hid all my folders.....then I tried to uninstall
Office and reinstall  with no success (as it hid all my systems icons...I'm no computer person so thought this was the best way to rectify it).
Sometimes it would install then would come up with registry errors 1402 othertimes it wouldn't even get that far.
Make sure you run the command as Administrator and copy and paste the above in...then wulahhh!!!
Tried to install again and worked perfectly!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou....I'm never one to write on these things...let alone join up....but this advice just saved me from reinstalling my OS which I was hoping would solve the problem....(phewwww :)  )
So a comment saying thankyou was needed...

  • Offline Activation issues with Office 2010 Professional Plus

I have a volume license for 17 seats for MS Office 2010 Professional Plus, along with a MSDN license which authorizes us to have 50 seats.
I have activated the software offlline via the telephone.  After about six months the licenses go inactive and requires me to reactivate the product again.  This has happened serveral times.
The network consisting of three servers: One Domain Controller, two member servers one of which has Exchange 2010 and the other is the endpoint management secrutiy server.  There are 17 clients with windows 7.  The network does
    not connect to the web.
I have been on the phone with support but the level of the help desk has not been very informative.  In the 90 minutes that I was on the phone, I was directed to go to various websites, i.e. volume licensing ...  these sites were not
helpful. Toward the end of the phone support I was finally transferred to a U.S. representative.  This individual stated that I would need to have a support contract in place prior to recieving help for a product that should install and be activated without
    an issue.
I do not have a KMS, I'm completely isolated from the Internet and would like some direction on this matter.

Hi, this is a public/community forum, not an official support channel, but we can try to help you.
VL editions of Office can be activated by either KMS product key (the default pre-embedded key) or by MAK product key.
KMS doesn't require any kind of web connection at any time (you could activate your KMS host by telephone activation. Your KMS clients then contact your KMShost only, via your internal network. No internet connection is needed)
Or, you can use MAK. MAK requires you to "install" your CSVLK product key in each computer (overwriting the pre-embedded KMSclient pkey) and then activate each computer. You can activate MAK installations via internet or telephone.
Typically, once an MAK pkey is activated, it remains activated, unless the computer is subjected to "hardware changes" or some form of data restore or recovery.
Although you don't have KMS implemented, you do seem to have enough computers (the minimum is 5) to consider KMS.
6 months is an interesting milestone. 180 days is exactly the timeframe for a KMSclient to become unlicensed if it been unable to contact a KMShost.
Perhaps you could check the current licensing configuration/status on a couple of computers, to confirm their current situation?
    - on a computer, open an elevated (run as admin) CMD console
    - execute: cd \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
    (or on a 32bit OS, execute: cd \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
    - execute: cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall > c:\osppOUT.txt
This will produce the text file, showing all *possible* Office licenses, and the currently installed one should show as "Licensed".
You can post the results back here for us to review for you. (there is only a partial pkey displayed, so nothing sensitive will be revealed)

  • Office 2010 Professional Plus Download / Install

I recently completed a Microsoft Self-Audit and discovered that we have an additional 50 copies of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus, MAK.  I have contacted customer support via online chat and they have confirmed my key is valid, they gave me
a number to call to continue my quest for the download.  Upon calling that number it told me to fill out a form online and it would put a ticket in for someone to call me.  The fee for submitting that ticket would be nearly $300 dollars (I might
as well get the next version of office).
I have searched the web for days now and have attempted to download then activate every trial version and have had little luck.  I also discovered a page that allows you to use your product key to download a copy of the version you need, however when
trying to submit it it states that the version of office associated with the key does not allow additional copies to be downloaded.
Although my company states they are willing to purchase the updated software I would feel bad losing 50 copies (which close to the number of employees in this company) of office 2010.
TL;DR 50 extra keys with no download page.

  • Office 2010 Professional Plus; Switched laptop, activation does not work

    Hello,
I've had Office 2010 Professional Plus for a couple of years now, on a desktop and a laptop. The laptop died, and I bought another one (refurbished). I was able to install and activate my Office Suite on that laptop. Then, there was a malfunction (fan) with
that laptop, and it was replaced under warranty for an exact same model (Lenovo T410); my hard drive was placed in that laptop. My system works now, but the previously working Suite does now want to be activated again. When I try to do that, it tells me that
    this cannot be done.
How can I resolve this? With my desktop and this current laptop, I am only using 2 out of 3 licenses.

    Hi,
We'd better confirm the usage of licenses with the local customer service in your area:

    Hi,
I have SQL 2012 standard edition in my local. I have developed SSAS & deployed in local. I have been asked to develop power view report in excel 2013 using this SSAS. But when I tried to do in Excel 2013 professional Plus, I am getting below error:
Power view couldn't load the model or data source because the data source type is not supported.
Does power view is supported in standard edition of SQL or it requires Business/Enterprise edition of SQL server?
    Thanks in advance

What type of SSAS install are you using?
PowerView in Excel 2013 currently only supports Tabular data sources.
Only PowerView in Sharepoint 2013 supports both Tabular and Multi-Dim data sources. (provided you have the required Sharepoint and SQL updates installed)
