Ms-outlook backup everyday

Hi
   I have Mac book air in that I have Ms-outlook configure for the e-mails. Now I want to backup it everyday and copy into the remote system.
Earlier we had windows system in that Ms-outlook having one file file (.PST) so we can easily copy paste the same.
But here I have not found anything which can help me to take a backup of it very easily so Please suggest how can I get the Ms-outlook backup and copy past into the remote system.
Time machine is there but its not helping to taking a particualr only to backup MS-otulook data file.

Hi Niraj,
Best would be to use a backup software and backup your Home folder.
If you insist on doing it manually the Outllok 2011 identity folder (which holds all your Outlook data) is here
Your Home Folder/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/
You shouls definitely backup Main Identity and any other you use.
Please let me know if it answers your questions?

  • Outlook Backup Using Online Backup and Share

    I just started using online backup and share.  I selected the files for automatic backup including my Outlook PST and Archive PST(Outlook) Files.  It looks like my archive file backed up but not my main Outlook PST file.  Does Outlook need to be closed to have this file backed up?

    Outlook does need to be closed in order for that file to be backed up. When Outlook is running, the file is locked as "Open and In Use" meaning until Outlook closes the file, nothing else can open that file.

  • Synchronizing Calendar with Outlook Marks Everyday of the Year as an Event

    Scenario: 2nd Generation Touch 32GB, Windows XP Pro SP3, Outlook 2003
    Prior to purchasing my touch last week, I have been able to successfully synchronize my calendar and contacts with my iPod Classic.
    My new iPod Touch synchronizes my contacts and calendar with Outlook; however, my iPod Touch also marks everyday of the year (including those without events) with a Dot to indicate that something is occuring that day. Thus, I have to click on each day to determine when there is an actual event. The iPod Touch seems partially aware that there are no events for these days because it displays "no events" when you scroll to those days. HHHEELLPPP!
    How do I prevent the iPod Touch from marking everyday of the year with the a dot to indicate that an event is scheduled for that day? Is there an obsure setting causing this behavior?
    Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Fullerms,
    you have a couple of options:
    Mail for Exchange -- will sync to your Exchange server over the air (flat rate data plan strongly recommended) just like the WiMo devices do. I do this since about two years, first with my E61i and now with my E71. Fast, simple, and easy.
    SyncML -- services such as Funambol and others can let you run this option. To sync my Exchange at work and Outlook at home, I'm using a local copy of Funambol (plus always-on DSL plus DynDNS and a few trix), although there are also some open Funambol-based services you can use. You will need to install a Funambol sync client on your PC, but it's not the Nokia PC Suite!
    Other options that come to mind could be Google Calendar and similar -- somehwere a server in the sky where you dump your calendar and contacts regulary and sync them up to the phone.
    My personal recommendation is MfE.

  • Online Backup is needed everyday??

    Hello All,
                   For our ECC 6.0 System,OS=HP UNIX,Database=Oracle 9i
    We are taking only Offline backup everyday...No Online backup is taken.Can we restore the system completely if it crashes??Is there any necessity to take the Online Backup daily??But we are taking File system Backup everyday from HP-Unix.What startegy is followed for SAP Best practise??

    Hi,
    back into the purpose of the backup : enable to restore data to its latest stable condition while system or database is crashed.
    backup offline : you can restore database back only until the latest offline backup.
    say you are doing the last offline backup on Dec 1, 2009, so if your system is crash now, you can only bring your system back to Dec 1, 2009. No matter if you are have full-set of archivelog, it will useless.
    backup online : you can restore database back until the last archivelog you can save before crash.
    say you are doing the last online backup this morning and regularly backup your archive log, so if your system is crash now, you can restore your online backup followed by applying your saved archivelog to bring your database to the latest condition (equivalent to the last archivelog you have). say the last online backup is 5AM this morning, and you backup archivelog every hour, and on on 7.15AM system is crash, you can restore online backup taken on 5AM, plus restoring (applying) archivelog on 6AM and 7AM, and then bring your database up. in this case, you may lost data from 7AM to 7.15AM if archivelog created during this time can't be save (during system/database crash). if you have enough time to save archivelog created between 7AM and 7.15AM, you can prevent or minimize data loss.
    suggestion for you :
    offline backup : once a week
    online backup : once a day
    archivelog oracle backup : every hour (or depends on how many archivelog created per hour on your system)
    filesystem (vg00 or internal disk) backup : once a month, before applying patch and after applying patch
    compared to our system:
    offline backup : once a month (due to huge database we have)
    online backup : once a day
    archivelog oracle backup : every hour
    filesystem (vg00 or internal disk) backup : once a month, before applying patch and after applying patch
    remember, online backup without archivelog backup (on Oracle system) is nothing.
    and filesystem  (vg00 or internal disk) backup (usually using ignite backup) is important to maintain stable version of filesystem (vg00 or internal disk) which contain OS (HPUX) and other important files not stored on external storage.
    hope it help you,

  • Outlook 2007 backup help desperately needed

    I am moving in less than a week and I desperately need to back up my Outlook to an external drive because my desktop computer
    is going on the moving van. I added the Outlook backup add-in today, but it is not working. I have it set (under options) to save to K:\Outlook\outlook backup.pst When I exit Outlook, I get this message: The J:\Outlook\folder does not exist. The file might
    have been moved or deleted. Do you want to create it?
    How can I get it to stop looking for a J drive? I don't have anything in my J drive, so even if I choose yes to create it, it is unable
    to create the Outlook folder and the system cannot find the path specified.
    Steps I have tried so far, which have failed:
    1. Reboot the computer
    2. Disable and re-enable add-ins
    3. Delete and re-install the add-in
    4. Try saving to a different external drive

    Hi,
    Change the backup location of a personal folder to any other drive apart from J:\drive as it doesn’t exist in your computer.
    To change the backup location of a personal folder file:-
    1. On the File menu, click Backup.
    2. Click Options.
    3. In the Backup these personal folders files list, click the file you want to change the backup location for, and then change the location in
    the Backup the file selected above to this location box.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Save Backup.
    I hope the information is helpful.

  • Outlook 2003 Calendar syncing bug fixed!

    Since Apple has refused to acknowledge this major bug in Itunes 7.7 - iPod Touch 2.0, I decided to solve the problem myself.
    As you all know. The new Apple software and firmware upgrades have destroyed the syncing of Outlook Calendars with both the iPhone and iPod. Syncing calendars doesn't work anymore.
    I use my iPod Touch/Outlook Calendars everyday for my work. I need my calendars to be in sync always.
    Here is what I am doing to solve the problem - and it seems to work. Test it yourself.
    1. Open Outlook 2003 or 2007.
    2. Go to the Calendar tab.
    3. Find a Calendar appointment or event that is not syncing correctly with your iPod Touch.
    4. Make note of the details of the appointment - date, duration, recurring etc.
    5. Write these details on a scrap of paper.
    6. Store the paper in your wallet.
    I joke - but I'm getting mad.

    As much as I love my iPod Touch, this problem syncing with Outlook 2003 -- and the failure of Apple to acknowledge it (at least there's nothing I've seen so far) -- has me ready to toss it out my office window. It all seems so random: Sometimes it's fine and the sync woriks, sometimes it's producing multiple versions of an appointment, and sometimes the appointment gets deleted from Outlook, the iPod or both. Looks like I actually do need a paper backup!! This is the second time that updating my iPod Touch has resulted in a major slip in functionality. The last time I was told that by an insider that Apple engineers dislike having to work out bugs with Windows, that they don't like Windows. Are we being punished? This is seriously annoying.

  • Backup to External Via Airport, not listed as available in Time Machine.

    I would very much like to set up a time machine backup using my external hard drive. I don't have time capsule, but I have airport connected to an external hard drive. Also, I would prefer that time machine only keep tabs on one folder, the Documents folder. My documents are all that I need backed-up, not a lot of space required, but vital info that I hate having to backup everyday. Nothing else needs a daily backup. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks for the help!

    Time Machine backups to AirDisks (e.g. USB HDD attached to Extreme) is unsupported, but has been successful by some. As well, once you decide to move your TM backups to an AirDisk, you cannot continue backing up to your previous TM backup. The format it saves to vs. a local HDD is different. The folder structure you see becomes a sparsebundle/disk image via the AirDisk.
    If you are interested in proceeding with your plan, check these links out:

    [http://jamesshore.com/Blog/How-to-Accelerate-Time-Machine.html]
    For excluding everything but your documents, open TM Preferences -> Options. Try to Select All, then deselect the folder you want to backup. Note that you will NOT be able to restore your Mac to its current state in the event of an internal HDD failure. Just your Document folder is backed up.

    Hi,
    The Archive log's has occupied full Hard Disk space so i changed the status of DB to NoArchive Log mode and deleted all the archive files available at "/u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/archive" using OS command.
    Now I changed the DB to Archive Log Mode and now using RMAN to delete All Archive files which are backed up.
    backup incremental level 0 cumulative device type disk tag '%TAG' database include current controlfile;
    backup device type disk tag '%TAG' archivelog all not backed up delete all input;
    Thanks

  • Recovery from cold backup

    Hi,
    We take Hot backup everyday, but I took a cold backup using the same catalog. If I want to restore the cold backup I took, what is the proceedure. We are running on 10g in HP Unix.
    Thanks.

    Hi Rock2,
    If you want to restore the cold backup you need to know the tag belonging to this backup.
    Using the logfile of the coldbackup or <list backup summary;> in rman you should be able to get this info.
    The restore would be similar as:
    connect catalog rman/pwd@define_rcv;
    # check in catalog database for the dbid.
    # If so set the appropriate dbid by unhashing the line directly below using the current dbid
    # set dbid = define_dbid
    connect target /;
    STARTUP NOMOUNT;
    run {
    allocate channel tc1 type 'SBT_TAPE'; # or 'DISK'
    allocate channel tc2 type 'SBT_TAPE'; # or 'DISK'
    # adjust the TAG in the following lines
    restore controlfile from tag TAG0000001;
    sql 'alter database mount';
    restore database from tag TAG0000001;
    sql 'alter database open resetlogs';
    release channel tc1;
    release channel tc2;

  • Understanding Windows Small Business Server 2008 Backup - Full and Incremental with 2 Backup Destinations

    Hi,
    I am re-posting a question from the following page here as I have the same problem now and I can't seem to find the answer even though the question has been marked as solved: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsbackup/thread/daff108b-effa-4dad-807a-d604345975dd
    Below is a copy of the question:
    I have 2 backup drives, (Backup Drive 1 and Backup Drive 2)
    Lets assume I have never performed a backup, so Day 1 is the first backup of the server.
    Backup Drive 1 connected on Day 1 it performs a FULL Backup - this is expected.
    Backup Drive 1 connected on Day 2 it performs an INCREMENTAL Backup - this is expected.
    Backup Drive 2 connected on Day 3 it performs a FULL Backup - this is expected.
    Backup Drive 1 connected on Day 4 it performs a FULL Backup - WHY? my understanding is that is should perform an Incremental Backup from Day 2
    Backup Drive 2 connected on Day 5 it performs a FULL Backup - again why is it not performing an Incremental Backup from Day 3?
    This means that in normal operation (Backup Drives alternate every day) We are performing FULL Backups everyday. In a few months this wont be an acceptable backup strategy; it will take too long.
    I've used 'Configure Performance Settings' in the Windows Server Backup mmc to specify 'Always perform incremental backup' - it makes no difference.
    If I look at the Backup Drive Disk Usage details it confuses me even more. It may be performing Full Backups everyday but it's definitely not storing Full Backup copies on the Backup Drives.
    It seems to be that even when a Full Backup is performed, only the deltas are written to the Backup Drive so even though it takes longer it has the same effect as an incremental  (so why doesn't it just perform an incremental?)
    I don't understand Microsoft's use of Full and Incremental, it seems obtuse to provide a choice that appears to have no effect on the actual data written to the Backup Drive.
    My real-world experience is at odds with that statements made in
    The Official SBS Blog  it states "every backup is incremental from a storage point of view" as well as "Because the wizard schedules differential-based backups' (nowhere in the Backup mmc have I seen any reference or options for differential),
    "Backup runs quickly" and "...works the same for multiple disk rotation." (This is simply not the case with a 2-disk rotation. It runs a lengthy FULL Backup every time.)
    The backup has been configured using SBS Console, runs once a day at 16:00. 2 Backup Drives, alternating daily.
    Can anyone clarify Windows Backup operation for me?
    I'd appreciate any feedback at all, thanks.

    (Windows Server 2008 R2)

    Even if you choose the option to create incremental backups, Windows Server Backup will create a full backup once every 14 days, or after 14 incremental backup operations, to reduce the risk from disk corruptions.
    Of course, this is for R2.

    In Windows Server 2008, there are several reasons which may cause the backup to be full instead of incremental
    1. Backup on the target is deleted/not present.
    2. Source volume snapshot is deleted, from which the last backup was taken.
    3. 7 days have passed or 6 incremental backups have happened since the last full backup.
    4. Churn on the backup source is high (more than 50%)

  • Is it possible to rollback image copy backup?

    Hi,
    I have got an image copy with a tag which I apply incremental backups everyday. The image copy is rolled forward everyday.
    Is it possible to rollback the image copy?
    I have got incremental backups of everyday and one recent full image copy of database.
    Thanks
    Emrah

    EmrahHi Emrah and welcome to the forum!
    I don't think that you can roll back image copies because each time the whole image copy is changed with new records and I haven't seen such option

  • Backuping up a standby database in a Data Guard environment!

    Hello everyone,
    I have set a Data Guard in Oralce 10.2.0 between 2 databases for testing purposes. Each database is located on a different server. I want to schedule an incremental backup of the standby database to do an incremental level_1 backup everyday. I am following this paper:
    [Using Recovery Manager with Oracle Data Guard in Oracle Database 10g|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/availability/rman-dataguard-10g-wp-1-129486.pdf]
    but it's really unclear, for me, how this command sequence is constructed:
    RECOVER COPY OF DATABASE WITH TAG ‘OSS’;
    BACKUP DEVICE TYPE DISK INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 FOR
    RECOVER OF COPY WITH TAG ‘OSS’ DATABASE;
    BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL NOT BACKED UP TO SBT;
    BACKUP BACKUPSET ALL;How can I recover a copy of database that wasn't backed up before? When I did that in RMAN, I got the following output:
    Starting recover at 03-APR-11
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: sid=159 devtype=DISK
    no copy of datafile 1 found to recover
    no copy of datafile 2 found to recover
    no copy of datafile 3 found to recover
    no copy of datafile 4 found to recover
    no copy of datafile 5 found to recover
    Finished recover at 03-APR-11Could anyone please help me understanding this sequence of commands in a simple way to get a better idea of how to backup a standby database?
    Thanks in advance...

    On the first day, there is no backup to recover. It is only on the third day's run that this command will really be successful.
    The white paper does explain this.

  • Errant Outlook Data File

    I recently acquired a new computer and wanted to load my Outlook contact list onto my new computer.  I followed online instructions but when I came to identifying the file into which the pst data should be copied, that option did not exist.  I tried repeatedly and (although I know not how) finally succeeded.  Now, however, whenever I open Outlook, I get a pop-up that reads: "The path specified for the file D:\Outlook\backup.pst is not valid."  I click "OK" but that brings up a Windows Explorer labeled "Create/Open Outlook Data File" that is open to my "Documents."  Windows 2013 only shows "This PC" and does not provide access to system files.  How do I get rid of these pop-ups?

    Of course!  My mistake.  The Adobe Communities have been so helpful, I just went there first.  Thanks, SRiegel, for pointing this out.  Sorry for cluttering the Community space.

  • Whole Database Online + redo log backup: How Long?

    Hi gurus,
    There's something I want to ask about online backup with redo log.
    If i'm correct, redo log file is created everytime there's operation that change datafile right?
    If i schedule this type of backup everyday, it means it will backup all datafiles, along with redo log file when transaction take places, at my pre-defined hours, right?
    Then here's what i'm confused about. When will this backup process finished? Is it when all the datafiles have been backed up? Then how about the redo log files? If there are users that keep making transaction (therefore make change to datafiles), new redo log files will be created on disk, and that will prevent the backup process to finish. Then when will this cycle come to an end?
    Please confirm if my grasp about oracle online backup is correct or not, and provide explanation to satisfy my curiousity.
    Thanks gurus,

    Hello Fidel,
    i am feeling honored
    > Keep in mind that the only thing where a DBA cannot make mistakes is restore/recovery and this depends on your backups
    In general i would say you are right, but i have seen already one case where this statement is not true.
    Some time ago i got a call from a colleague where his database crashed, the online redolog files were corrupted and the recovery was not working.
    If you don't look really close at this point you are in trouble and can not continue the recovery. Let explain this on a example.
    This demonstration is done on an oracle 10.2.0.4, but it work on every other version too.
    Let's simulate a crash
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    Corrupt/delete a specifc redolog file
    SQL> startup
    ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 3 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: '/oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo03.log'
    ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
    Ok - so far so good, lets check the groups and files
    SQL> select GROUP#, STATUS, MEMBER from v$logfile where TYPE = 'ONLINE';
        GROUP# STATUS  MEMBER
             1         /oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo01.log
             2         /oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo02.log
             3         /oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo03.log
    SQL> select * from v$log;
        GROUP#    THREAD#  SEQUENCE#      BYTES    MEMBERS ARC STATUS           FIRST_CHANGE# FIRST_TIM
             1          1         95   52428800          1 NO  CURRENT                5117817 06-JAN-09
             3          1         94   52428800          1 YES ACTIVE                 5117814 06-JAN-09
             2          1         93   52428800          1 YES ACTIVE                 5112855 15-DEC-08
    What's the situation?
    The online redolog file of group 3 is lost/corrupted and this group is needed to perform a complete recovery (see status ACTIVE).
    But you are lucky, because of this group 3 is already archived - so you can perform a complete recovery.
    Now let's perform a complete recovery but with UNTIL clause (because we need to jump between the online and archived redologfiles)
    SQL> recover database until cancel;
    ORA-00279: change 5116194 generated at 01/06/2009 21:06:48 needed for thread 1
    ORA-00289: suggestion : /oracle/TST/oraarch/TST_1_93_6b8c0516_666969185.arc
    ORA-00280: change 5116194 for thread 1 is in sequence #93
    Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
    ORA-00279: change 5117814 generated at 01/06/2009 21:08:47 needed for thread 1
    ORA-00289: suggestion : /oracle/TST/oraarch/TST_1_94_6b8c0516_666969185.arc
    ORA-00280: change 5117814 for thread 1 is in sequence #94
    ORA-00278: log file '/oracle/TST/oraarch/TST_1_93_6b8c0516_666969185.arc' no longer needed for this recovery
    Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
    ORA-00279: change 5117817 generated at 01/06/2009 21:08:51 needed for thread 1
    ORA-00289: suggestion : /oracle/TST/oraarch/TST_1_95_6b8c0516_666969185.arc
    ORA-00280: change 5117817 for thread 1 is in sequence #95
    ORA-00278: log file '/oracle/TST/oraarch/TST_1_94_6b8c0516_666969185.arc' no longer needed for this recovery
    Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
    /oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo01.log
    Log applied.
    Media recovery complete.
    Now execute an OPEN NORESETLOGS accidentally (maybe the dba think it is not necessary because of the complete recovery) and try an OPEN RESETLOGS after:
    SQL> alter database open noresetlogs;
    alter database open noresetlogs
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00313: open failed for members of log group 3 of thread 1
    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: '/oracle/TST/oradata/redolog/redo03.log'
    ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    alter database open resetlogs
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01139: RESETLOGS option only valid after an incomplete database recovery
    So now you are lost.. you can't execute an UNTIL CANCEL anymore which would be needed to perform a successful OPEN RESETLOGS.
    In this special case you can do mistakes and you have to restore the whole database and perform the same recovery again and end with OPEN RESETLOGS.
    Just for information
    Regards
    Stefan
