MS Outlook syncing contacts multiple times to iPhone

My MS Outlook laptop contact list is my primary repository for contact information. On my iPhone contact list, individual contacts may be repeated 3 or more times, often with incomplete or no longer current contact information. Any suggestions on how to resolve?

  • Syncing Contacts multiple times

When I sync my iphone through iTunes it syncs my contacts and calendar even though I have specified that I don't want to sync the local copy. I only want to sync with mobile me. If I look at all of my calendars and contact groups, I have two of everything, one for mobile me, one synced from my mac. Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Syncing contacts from iTunes to iPhone 4s -got all my girlfriends contacts

Syncing contacts from iTunes to iPhone 4s
I upgraded my iPhone 4s to the latest os yesterday. My girlfriend and I use the same installation of iTunes, and for some reason I got all of her contacts copied to my phone. During the installation of the new os, I was told there was a conflict with the contacts and I was prompted to choose between to different sets of contacts both bearing my name but my girlfriends picture (!). I tried to skip this stage and moved on with the installation, and when I was done our contacts were all mixed up. When I later installed the new os on her iPhone (3), she got all of my contacts!
Is there a way to show iTunes what to put in which phone?

    Hello Hylan,
    There are a few possibilities.
First, make sure both iTunes and the iPhone are up-to-date.
Make sure the "Sync Address Book Contacts" box is actually checked in the Info tab for the iPhone.
You can try resetting the Sync history on the Mac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
It could be an issue with the Contact database on the iPhone.
If your contacts data on the Mac is current (no contacts on the iPhone that are not in Address Book). you can replace the Contact data on the iPhone with a fresh copy from the Mac.
At the bottom of the Info tab for your iPhone, you'll find a checkbox for Contacts under Advanced -- this will replace the contact data on the iPhone when you sync. It is a one time checkbox and will be unchecked automatically after the sync.

  • TS1368 My child has put in the wrong password on my phone multiple times, my iPhone now says "iPhone is disabled connect to iTunes", But when I try to connect to iTunes on my laptop it says unable to connect due to a password is on the phone? What do I do

My child has put in the wrong password on my phone multiple times, my iPhone now say "iPhone has been disabled connect to iTunes" When I hook my phone up to iTunes, iTunes then says that my iPhone can not be hooked up to iTunes because it has a password on it, but will not allow me to put in a password because the disabled message is still showing. What is the next step?

You may need to put the iPhone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the phone and restore/resync your content to it.

  • Can't Sync Contacts & Address Book on iPhone

Very frustrated, software update today didn't help. I have MobileMe with iPhone. My iMac, MacBook Pro, and MobileMe "cloud" sync perfectly, but will not sync contacts or calendar with my iPhone, no matter what I do. Tried MobileMeSupport, but no help. I have already tried turning off/on sync in Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and have deleted and recreated account (5 times). Turned iPhone off/on. I just don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Pity it didn't help. Your problem sounded very similar to mine.
The only other solution I can think of is to make sure any trace of the palm software it removed.
Taken from another tech article -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301201
Before you remove a Palm OS device from your iSync device list, make sure that the Palm HotSync application isn't running. If it is, quit it, then remove the Palm device in iSync. Otherwise, the Palm device may reappear in iSync.
Last thing would be to select 'Reset Sync History' from the iSync preferences.

  • Problems syncing Contacts from Mac to iphone - popup says script error MM

Hi, when I did my initial sync from my MBP to the iphone all worked great. But when I made some changes to my Address Book on the MBP yesterday and did a manual sync, those changes were not picked up by the iphone - I tried several times So I logged onto MM to check, clicked on the Contacts icon and got a busy symbol. The folder headings of my address book appeared then I had a popup appear to say that a script was having a problem on the page and I could continue or stop it. I tried continue a few times and eventually had to stop it, the busy symbol just continued. My contacts were never displayed. I tried it this morning and it is the same, is this the cause of my syncing probs and if so how do I fix it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Are you syncing contacts direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, or over the air with MM on your iPhone?
If you are doing the former, this has nothing to do with a problem with your MM online address book.
If you are doing the former, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder.
    Quit iTunes and launch iSync.
At iSync preferences, select reset sync history.
Restart your Mac and try syncing with iTunes again.

  • How do I sync contacts and calendar from iphone to PC?

How do I sync contact and calendar info from my iPhone into Outlook on my PC?  The iPhone User Guide suggests that you can only sync from the PC to the phone. Is there a way to reverse the direction?

The sync process for contacts and calendar events with a supported app on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process.
There is a way to replace on the iPhone with what is available in the supported application on your computer but not the other way around.
If the supported application on your computer includes contacts and calendar events and the same with your iPhone, with the first sync for this data you will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Outlook Sync Contacts

I am unable to Sync Contacts between Outlook 2003 and my video Ipod. I am using Itunes 6.0.4.2 on Win XP Pro.
I can sync calendar items. I can also sync Outlook Express contacts. I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone to the Apple support centre in India. They can't solve it. His last suggestion was that I contact Microsoft. He said that Apple did not support syncing with Outlook. I asked hime why this was relaesed in a live version of iTunes!
I wonder if this is a conflict with other sync software I use such as Plaxo and Nokia? Any ideas?

Here's an alternative way to get Contacts on your iPod of the auto sync doesn't work. It doesn't work for me either in 6.0.4.2, but it did in 6.0.1.3
    1. Create a New Folder on your Desktop
    2. In Outlook Contacts use Ctrl+A to "Select All".
    3. On the "Action" menu select "Forward as vCard".
(A new e-mail will open with all of the Contacts as .vcf attachments.)
    4. Select all the attachments and drag them to the New Folder you created in step-one.
    5. Drag and Drop them from the New Folder into the Contacts directory on your iPod using Windows Explorer.

  • How to sync contacts on iMac to iPhone?

My contacts in my iPhone 4 randomly disappeared this weekend...grrr.  It was not backed up on iCloud and I can't find the last backup (besides one that was done tonight when I plugged my phone into my computer, after all the contacts disappeared).
Is there a way to sync the contacts on my iMac to my iPhone?  This is what I've tried and it hasn't worked:
In iTunes, under "info", I clicked on "Sync Contacts"
Under "Advanced" on the same page, I checked off "Contacts" and then "Replace information on this iPhone"
I hit Apply and it said it was syncing
    Nothing happened on my iPhone
Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated!  Thank you.

Turn contacts off and then on again in your iCloud settings on your iPhone. When it askes to you to keep or remove the current on on the phone.(if there are no contacts on the phone then say remove) and always ok the merge with iCloud. If the doesn't resolve the issue try deleting your iCloud account and then add it again.

As you've noticed, since the release of Mavericks syncing contacts with a Mac using iTunes is no longer supported. Following is a link to troubleshooting information for iCloud contacts which may have something that will help: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998

  • Can't sync Contacts from Mac to iPhone

    Hi
I have prb with the MobileMe syncing since I updated my iPhone software to 2.0.2. I can add a new contact to my iPhone, and see it appearing in my Mac, but if I add a contact in my Mac Contact application, it just doesn't sync to my iPhone. Actually, it doesn't even appear on the MobileMe web page.
It was working before the update to 2.0.2. Weird...
    Any idea/help ?
    Thanks
    Laurent

found this solution on this forum...maybe it will help.
    01.) Plug iPhone into computer
02.) Sync the phone in order to back up your latest info.
    03.) Restore iPhone in iTunes
04.) When restore completes, ignore the "set up as new phone" or "restore from backup" screen and just unplug the phone from the computer.
05.) Once unplugged, slide to unlock and tap on the email icon.
06.) Tap on your email type to setup (for me it was gmail)
    07.) Enter your email information.
08.) Load your email and let it download a bunch of emails.
09.) Plug phone back into computer. The "set up as new phone" and "restore from backup" screen will pop up again.
10.) Choose "restore from backup" and select your last backup.
    11.) Wait until complete.

  • Sync contacts on laptop and iPhone

How do I sync my contacts with laptop and iPhone over iCloud? Updated contacts 24 hours ago on laptop, iPhone contacts didn't change. What do I do?

It's either the connection from the laptop to icloud or from icloud to iphone that's the problem.  To find the answer, do the following...
Using a computer's browser log into icloud.com and then look at the contacts page.  If the edits show up there, then the problem is from icloud to iphone.  If edits are not there, then the problem is from laptop to icloud.
Whichever device the problem points to, verify that it is logged into the right icloud account and that Contacts is turned on.  (System preferences>icloud on mac or Settings>icloud on ios device.

  • Syncing Contacts with Google to iPhone 5s - multiple sets

Hello ... for some reason when I sync my Google contacts to my iPhone 5s I get multiple sets.  Not for all contacts but for a large majority.  Help!

I have the same problem. It seems like itunes (on windows) has a problem to sync the google contacts (address book) with my iphone. The first time i tried, it worked (all contacts from Google contacts were transferred to my iphone) but the next time nothing happened, nothing changed in the iphone contacts neither in the Google contacts (updates were made in both the iphone and goggle contacts). Any idea anyone?

  • Outlook Sync (Contacts/Calendar) Issues - Progress today........

    Folks,
I posted another earlier discussion on this topic over the weekend, but since I got my iPhone on Friday, I have probably burned about 20 hours working trying to figure out why I cannot sync my calendar and contacts from Office 2003 "OR" 2007 into my iPhone. When I started this process, 584 of my 1310 contacts did sync, I had NO luck on getting any of calendar items to sync.
Today we resolved the Contact issue!!! Still working on the calendar issues and if anyone has any further ideas, I am open to it, but it appears for both the contacts and calendar issues, I had corrupt data. You dont know it until encounter it this way.
Here is what you need to do in order to get the contacts to sync, it worked for me, hopefully it will work for many after me:
    1. Export "ALL" of your contacts to a .CSV (Comma Separated Value for Windows) file. Just export them to your desktop or somewhere easy to find them. As an extra safety net to ensure you dont lose your contacts, back them up also to a .XLS file as well as a .PST file.
    2. Delete "ALL" your contacts out of Outlook. Sync Outlook, especially if your like me and have your contacts and calendar on a corporate exchange server. Be sure you clear your iPhone so there is no contacts on it.
    3. Import the .CSV file to a VCARD file, sync to your coporate server, sync your iTunes and you should now see all your contacts.
Again, it worked for me and hopefully it works for you.
    Good Luck!!

    Everyone is waiting for this.
Right now you cannot sync locally between your phone and your desktop. You are forced to upload your contacts to another company's server (read "the cloud") and then download them from whatever device you didn't upload them from.
Still waiting for this fix please.

  • Can Not Sync Contacts and Calendar to iPhone Since iTunes Upgrade to 7.6

Hello, I have an iPhone and iTunes installed on my PC--which is running Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2, and I only sync my Contacts and Calendar using the sync functionality through iTunes and MS Outlook 2007. I was on iTunes 7.4 and everything worked fine. I just upgraded to iTunes 7.6, and now I can not get my new contacts and calendar info from Outlook to sync with my iPhone anymore. I get this error message:
    The program "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\OutlookSyncClient.exe" --sync com.apple.Outlook --entitynames com.apple.calendars.Attendee,com.apple.calendars.Calendar,com.apple.calendars.D isplayAlarm,com.apple.calendars.Event,com.apple.calendars.Organizer,com.apple.ca lendars.Recurrence,com.apple.calendars.Task caused a problem and is going to close.
Is anyone familiar or know of the solution?
    Thanks!

Thanks, but as I've said I've tried all of that described in the reference you've kindly given. I don't have a local cache, and hence no PST files. The only one I have is an OST file which I have checked for integrity using the Microsoft supplied tools. I have switched to local PST (a suggestion given in another thread), and found that not to work either, so have switched back to non cached. I have even renamed the OST file to .BAK, and had it rebuilt. Again to no avail. There is a bona fide bug here. The http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306635 article does only say "This may be due to the format of the Outlook Personal Storage File (.PST)", so I guess as the operative word is "may", its not a guarantee of this being the solution.
Also I'm not syncing my contacts, I'm only doing the calendar nothing else.
Additionally, this used to work, so your hypothesis, of the "bad data", being synced in 7.6 and then not being able to be subsequently budged is a definate goer I think. But the trick would be to work out what the bad data is. I'm assuming the source of the bad data is the iphone, so I've deleted old calendar in outlook entries I know to have come from the iPhone, that has, as yet, been a fruitless exercise.
I do thank you though for your help though, I'll be scouring the internet for any tidbits of information which might help, and I'll post them back here if I find the solution, or anything which may help others unfortunate enough to be in this situation.
