MS Project deadline

Hello,
I have one question
I manage a big project , which is divided in to several streams and they have there individual MS project 2010 and once a week I consolidate it into one big MS project for me and for other parties. Is it possible some how to see the changes they make into
there individual MS projects for deadlines and etc?

Hi,
When you talk about deadlines, do you mean that you are using the deadline column? In case youndo, it cannot be baselined.
If you are simply tracking milestones, I'd suggest to use a baseline (it could be the same for each week which you overwrite each time). Doing this, you could vizualize the slippage between the current schedule and the baselined one using the format tab
slippage buttons.

PROJECT DEADLINE - 30TH MARCH!

Guys, I really need your help with a project I'm doing at school. I'm very much new to C# Programming. We are supposed to create an educational game to an audience along with a write-up and submit as coursework. I've finished the whole write up, but between
coursework and revision, I didn't have time to do my program - now I've forgotten the the tutorials, and am completely lost on how to do the question types (textboxes, listboxes, radiobuttons and whatnot). I also need the game to increase the score once the
answer is correct and to do a leaderboard form at the end - and everyone in my class was having trouble with commenting it. Basically, I just need someone to lend me a sample of the code so that I can comment it and finish it. If someone recommends it, I can
send my program to them by email.
Basically my problems are:
1. I've created a thread which loads the splash screen and then displays the Main Form, but I want to display the User login before the main form and after the progress bar loads
2. The whole scoring system and leaderboard.
3. For Questions 1 and 2 I wanted an X or a tick to appear next to the 3 questions, once the user clicks the submit button - this would add to the score, then return the user to the main form.
This is a quiz on German.
Question 1: images of 3 cities - user must name them correctly in a textbox
Question 2: same - but with three household objects
Question 3: 6 listboxes with 4 options each
Question 4: like question 1 but with more textboxes
Questions 5 & 6: radio buttons.
- Once I click Submit in each form, the score would change (or not)
- Highscore should be displayed on a form at the end with the user login name that the user has entered (letter only). I also need try-catches in there.
It's just I'm busy with other coursework and subjects and an oral presentation, and I just dont have the time to look over everything again

Match EQ Learn buttons disabled and project deadline is today!

Hi Folks
I've got a MacBook Pro with FCP 5.1.1.
I'm trying to use Soundtrack Pro's Match EQ plugin to finish a project but the Learn buttons are both disabled (grayed out).
I've looked at the documentation and googled for this but can't find any info on it. Anybody have any ideas what's going wrong? I've reinstalled STP but the problem persists.

I was in the process of learning about the Match EQ plug-in when I saw your post. I was having the same problem until I realized that you must first play the clip within the plug-in interface before the learn buttons are available.

Hi, I use Premiere Pro on a 2012 Macbook Pro with 16GB DDR3 of memory, 7200rpm hard drive, 2.6 GHz Core i7 processor (dual core).

What causes this? How can I fix it? I'm in a video contest and the deadline is quickly approaching, so I need a fix soon!
I don't know what causes the error, it started randomly (from what I can tell) and it has happened the last two times I've opened the software. It seems like it has to be something audio related, I just can't figure out what.

EMERGENCY! 1 YEAR PROJECT DEADLINE! HELP~

i've been working on a project for a YEAR now, editing it the whole time thinking that the poor video quality (filmed on a GL2) was just because it wasn't on a DVD. then i burned it onto a DVD, on iDVD, after selecting BEST quality in quicktime movie selections, and it still looks terrible compared to past projects. HELP ME!

Can you be more descriptive of what "poor video quality" is?
The GL2 shoots on DV, which has far less compression on it than DVD. Going from DV to DVD is always going to be a lossy process, so if the footage looks bad on its acquisition format (the tapes), it is never going to look any better on DVD.

Corrupt Project? Infinite Beach Ball when opening a large project.

I have a music video project that has a single multicam multicam clip with 10 angles. The project cuts between angles several thousand times, which I painstakingly did by hand over the last few weeks.
Today FCPX crashed and I had to force quit the project. Before re-opening I went to lunch and upon my return found whenever I open the project I get an infinitely spinning beach ball. I've spent the last 12 hours trying every combination of tricks I could find online that might help with absolutely no luck. Also, here is a process sample...

When I inpsect the process with Activity Monitor it shows it consuming approximately 500-600mb of memory, and consumes 200% of the CPU with about 20-40 threads, it varies within that range each time I try opening. It also seems to read/write from disk occasionally but not at high data rates. Typically the project consumes 2-3gb of memory, so it's not making it quite that far.
To name a few...
Deleting render files, opening without the events, deleting project info, verify disk, repair disk, opening the project file in the backups folder. I even purchased all the digital rebellion tools and tried running all of the fixers against the project, laptop, and environment.
This project deadline is in 4 days, and even if I started all over I wouldn't even be able to complete the angle cuts in that amount of time.
This problem doesn't seem entirely uncommon, so I beg of anyone who might have some advice, please tell me what to try!?!?
The last thing I can even think up to try is just letting it run. I've got about 12 hours before I have to check out of this hotel, we'lll see what happens...

Also worth mentioning. The project uses Proxy Media, not sure if optimized media is enabled or not.

Log and capture freezes - please help

I'm using FCP 5 (studio). on G5 dual 2GH 1GB.
it has become a nightmare to log and capture. after few minutes from working with log and capture the applications freezes. I have to force quit FCP.
I trashed the preferences once, I re-installed, but the same thing is happening. I'm working on 2 projects, deadline is approaching.
I appreciate any helpful responses.

Are you trying to record three video streams simultaneously? Or by a video amplifier, you mean a video switcher?
If you are using Capture Now, make sure you have set a capture limit. This is why:
When you use log and capture, the disk system is being asked by FCP to essentially "keep capturing until we tell you to stop ... and no, we don't know HOW much that will be either." It is stressful on the system to be continually wandering around looking for space to stuff those ones and zeros with out any sense of how many they have to accommodate. One solution available to the system is to allocate the ENTIRE empty space on the disk as the potential capture file. This essentially locks the machine as there is no headroom for basic disk operations.
However if you set a limit on capture now, say 60 minutes, the disk system can allocate the space and may seem to be less confused by the process. It still does not know EXACTLY how much you want, but it knows you will not want MORE THAN the limit and therefor can reduce some of the uncertainty.
Better yet is to record to a timecode addressable tape. This allows you to log the tape, then use batch capture. When you do this, the system knows EXACTLY how much space to allocate for each file and is very efficient.

How to stop text box on iWeb page from automatically reverting to hyperlink when I click 'save'

As far as I see, the main text box in the body section of my iWeb page reverts to a hyperlink (connecting to a file) when I click save. I don't know how the hyperlink got activated to begin with--I must have done something, but I don't know what it was. I tried this many times to fix it: went to Inspector "hyperlink" section, activated the text box in the page, un-clicked "make hyperlinks active" (so they are inactive), then un-clicked "Enable as a hyperlink." That much works--the hyperlink (little white arrow in blue circle) disappears from the lower right corner of text box. But as soon as I save (command S), the text box reverts to a hyperlink.
If I don't click save and move around the pages, it does not revert to a hyperlink. It only reverts to a hyperlink when the file is saved. Why is it doing this and how to stop this from happening--how to permanently return the text box to a non-hyperlink?
The website page is: http://www.usronline.net/USR/VedicResearch.html. If you click anywhere randomly in the main text, you'll get a prompt to download a PDF file. This should not be, but I can't get this hyperlink to go away for good.

Please pardon the reply delay--a big project deadline had to be met. Now back to this work:
Yes, the text in the oval object had a drop shadow (the oval object itself did not). I removed the drop shadow from the text, but the image file icon stayed in the right corner of the oval object. I deleted the text and then the image file icon disappeared. But as soon as I typed text again inside the oval object (not even pasting the previous text) the image file icon appeared again. I deleted the oval object entirely and simply typed the text inside the main text box itself. The image file icon that was attached to that oval object is gone (along with the oval object).
Still the image file icon is attached to the main text box, though. I again tried to uncheck the Enable as hyperlink (same process as described in first posting) with that oval object gone, but when I "save" again it reverts to a hyperlink.
Next I tried this: I copied the text from the problem text box and pasted it into another text box (outside of the problem one). Still in the new text box with the pasted text, the image file icon shows in the upper right corner.
I also removed all the drop shadow features from this main text box (there was one more, on some words typed in the main text box), but it is still showing as an image.
I don't know how it became an image file, and I'm still stumped as to how to fix it (short of forgetting about trying to figure out how it became an image and just retyping all text into a new text box).
The link you provided for "Web Safe Fonts" is returning this: "The server at www.ampsoft.net is taking too long to respond." I'm using Arial and Georgia (Georgia only on the menu and header text) in the site, and I had verified before designing the site that these are web safe, so I had thought they were.
If you or anyone have any further suggestions or suspicions on this matter, I'd be glad to hear them.

Display image in detail groups in jheadstart 11.1.1.3.35

Hi, I've been trying to make a project that should display one picture in one of the detail groups. but when i generate the jheadstart definition editor and run the project, it shows an empty box for the image (image is not loaded).
I've seen the source code and every thing seems right and when i use that detail group as a master group the image display just fine.
is jheadstart 11g have a problem for displaying image in detail groups? because I've heard this option works in 10g pretty fine.
please help me how i can fix this problem and i have to say my project deadline is coming :(

We are not aware of such a problem.
To really check whether it is related to a detail group, can you temporarily make the detail group a top-level group, generate and run your application to see whether the problem goes away?
Make sure you first uncheck the Same Page checkbox before you drag and drop the detail group to become a top group.
There is a known ADF issue that when you upload a new image, the new image is only shown when you restart the session.

After upgrade to JHS Production: cannot find two standard java Classes

Hi, First: congratulations on the Production release. Great that it is there.
After making several backups, I have upgraded to JHS build 91 Production release (I came from JHS build 78).
1. after upgrade to JHS Production, I tested my application first (so before re-enabling Jheadstart on the ViewController and regenerating pages). The application still worked fine
2. I re-enabled JHeadstart on the VC project
3. I opened my Applictation Definition Files and saved them (I noticed a deprecated property OverwriteUiModel that disappeared after saving)
4. I ran the generator on my three App. Def. Files.
5. I rebuild the whole application
6. I ran the application, the first (Table-style) page comes up fine
7. But when clicking on one of the records in the Table to navigate to the Form page...the Embedded OC4J exits with a fatal error:
Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/StackOverflowError
Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/NullPointerException

Any idea why this might have happened, just because I upgrade to JHS production release?

I have the (ugly) feeling that I am facing the problem mentioned in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1211326? : it looks like when a JSPX page gets too complex, the Embedded OC4J raises this StackOverFlow class notfound error :-(. Probably the (it only hits me when navigating to the most complex page) generated page generated with build 78 was fine, but the generated page after build 91 has become too complex, allthough nothing changed in between. What I can see from the difference between the before and after build 91 situation for all pages, is that you have added the <id=...> arguments to all ADF elements, like [id="PersonsSaveButton"] in:

I noticed people asking if there is a kind of 'maximum' on how complex a page can get before this error situation happens. No answer on that found (you do not want to know there is a maximum anyway).
The specific page is a master with 5 stacked detail regions and three "use as LOV" groups. Further on about 30 domains are used...
And the page has not finished yet, it will get more "complex" that this. I hope someone knows a good solution so that I can continue to use the Embedded OC4J for testing, otherwise developing wil get very time consuming if I have to deploy to AS every time...something I cannot afford since the project deadline is getting nearer and nearer.

Fireworks CS5 crashes often due to buggy memory handling. Will there be a patch?

Fireworks CS5 has a major bug that causes a memory leak or memory "cap" where the application stops functioning once it has used approximately 1.5 GB of memory or so. (I read that 2GB was the cap, but I have never seen Fireworks make it to 2GB). I only have 10 undos set in Fireworks, so I know that's not the problem. I have searched high and low to resolve this, but it seems like Adobe just hasn't recognized this as a high priority.
I read other discussions about the same problem and I now believe that Adobe either doesn't read the forums or they don't care. I hope this is not the case because I truly love the product. But, for the record, I shouldn't have to:
- "Limit the number of undos to less than 100" (I have limited mine to 10, but after 6 months of trial and error I have found that to be irrelevant. The errors occur anyway). Don't encumber your users with such an archaic request. This is like a software bug from 1985.
- "Save, shut down, and restart Fireworks every hour or so". Are you kidding? I can't believe someone on the forums even suggested this. This isn't a solution to the Fireworks bug. This is a work around that does nothing to prevent the error from occuring. Sometimes the error occurs on the very first click after opening a file in Fireworks, after a full system restart. A 5MB file takes 3 minutes to open in Fireworks on my quad-core 3Ghz machine with 8GB of memory. I don't mind that, but I shouldn't have to do it every 30 to 60 minutes. Users shouldn't have to look for "workarounds" to keep a software application running without crashing, especially such an expensive application. I think Fireworks is worth every penny, but only if it runs without crashing.
Perhaps most importantly, I cannot - ever - open two 5MB files in Fireworks at one time. Which makes it extremely cumbersome to impossible to copy/paste content between two files. In fact, I am designing a web application in Fireworks, and I've had to split the app into approximately 15 different files because Fireworks can't handle files bigger than 6 or 7MB.
I had the same problem with CS4 on a different machine, so I know it's not a new issue. I have Fireworks installed on two PCs, both have quad core 3Ghz processors, one PC has 6GB of RAM, the other has 8GB. Once an hour I have to shut down what I'm working on and wait several minutes for Fireworks to reopen the file. Sometimes Fireworks just stops responding and won't let me save my work at all. And since there is no autosave in Fireworks, I probably lose work at least once a day.
Please, please, please address this... I love Fireworks, and I'd really like to keep using it.

I am using Fireworks CS5 in Windows 7 to sketch a large site, and it was taking an extremely long time to do anything and seemed to crash on me once or twice every hour. I saved every couple of minutes and could at least rely on my last save being able to be reloaded. However, a few days ago, I lost a lot of work when Fireworks crashed halfway through the save and destroyed the file. At the time, my most recent backup copy that I had on another drive was a day old, so that crash was not only frustrating but hazardous to my project deadlines (needless to say, I've since implemented a more aggressive backup policy). Anyway, I searched for answers and forums about the problem, and I'm disappointed that it seems that it's a common problem for a lot of folks that has been around for a very long time throughout multiple releases of the software. Memory and resources also seem to be a common factor in contributing to the crashes and are also a theme in the few solution responses that I was able to find. I hope that Adobe will respond with a once-and-for-all fix / a much more efficient and stable way for Fireworks to do its magic. I typically have had very positive things to say about Adobe software and was even the one who recommended the suite for my work, but especially as "well seasoned" and *expensive* as the software is, there is no excuse for any major, well-tested component of it by now to be crashing so consistenly and causing so many problems for so many people.
The solution to the crashing that seems to work for me so far - and I hope that it works for you as well: I doubled the size of my swap/paging file to ~4GB and set the maximum to double that (~8GB). Since I did that, Fireworks has only crashed once (only once.. as if that is even acceptable considering the short time since then). It still runs fairly slowly (granted, I'm working on a large project, so I can tolerate that more), but at least I can use it again.

Auto reminders in iCal

Is there a way for me to set up an event in iCal (in this case, a project deadline), with rules, and have iCal automatically set up reminders for different aspects of the project up to 8 weeks before the deadline?
I would need fixed reminders, such as;
6 weeks before the deadline = Check you have..........
4 weeks before the deadline = Send first draft of..........
2 weeks before the deadline = Gather equipment for ...........
I would also need to be able to send these reminders to colleagues.
Is this possible? If not directly, could I use Automator?

I know this is an old post, but I'm hoping you are still out there John Maisey...? I followed the instructions on your link several times, however my reminders still come up as a message at 4:50pm the day before, plus an email at 4:50pm the day before.
I would like to set it up so that when I create a new event in my calendar, the default reminder time is at 8am that day. Message only, no email.
And the time it is set for is an hour ahead of the time I am creating the new event (i.e., if it is 12 noon when I open a new calendar appt, the default time for this appt sets at 1pm).
Is there a way to do these two things?
I am using iCal Version 5.0.3 / Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 (MacBook Air purchased in December of 2012).

Iphoto 9.3 and Mountain Lion Problems : Cant access my library : rebuilding doesn't work just hangs for hours

My Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard, had hard drive failure so I had to borrow a friends similar machine to access my iPhoto library ( 523 GB) on a 1TB drive after editing the photos and after exporting one folder of images the program quit and then asked me to repair which I tried hung up at 99% and would not open the event thumbnails . I have tried everything even trying to transfer the particular event from that library to a new library using iphoto manager just so I can export my project and send but still no success as it is telling me that it is getting no info from the library, I changed permissions on the drive ..still no success . I restarted Iphoto and it took hours to show the images but all events thumnails said "0" and it shows all the event cover photos as a gray photo with a palm tree in it or something . I tried rebuilding again this morning and the new library says "0" photos and a library size of 7.3 mb
I got my own Macbook 17in back yesterday and downloaded Mountain Lion to my machine and Iphoto 9.3
I tried to open the library which is 523 GB of images that used to work fine before getting an error message saying it needed to be repaired. I tried opening it with Iphoto 9.3 via I photo manager which told be that there were inconsistencies in the library and it needed to be repaired I chose that option and it is now the following day still "rebuilding thumbnails" since last night . This is a huge problem I have missed project deadlines and my income is severely affected by this situation of not being able to access my work. What can I do to fix this, access my files and export my overdue project at this point ?

Terence I find it surprising that you would say use Iphoto Manager after saying that I used it to rebuild using it took me to 99% of the way and just hung. I even spent my $20 and got the latest version 3.8.3 which was supposed to remedy these issues. See below my email to Fat Cat software the makers of Iphoto Manager:

Its days later and the support at Fat Cat software emailed me asking a question and are apparently just as floored as I am with this malfunction ..I hope they are working feverishly to address this as my conclusion and solution is as follows :
Using the older version of Iphoto Library Manager when my machine asked me to upgrade and rebuild instead of the first aid function in Iphoto 9.3 did not help but actually corrupted my library and downloading the latest version did not help remedy it either. What I should have done and am now doing is using the Iphoto first Aid function in Mountain Lion and Iphoto 9.3 using option command to rebuild the entire library. So far it is working with no hangups ...it is now rebuilding image version number 6715 and counting with 33000+ images to go ..if this solution really rebuilds then that is the ONLY way to go with this issue which has cost me a lot of time and money in missed deadlines , lost income and lost business . Iphoto and Iphoto Library manager are normally great in what their purposes are and in ease of use and function but whenawry with compatibility in version software issues arise things go terribly awry and the tedious painstaking fixes available that go for days on end just do not cut it.
