Also FYI both our BWDEV and BWPRD are in a single physical server, but running on different HDDs....
Now what is the next solution that i can suggest my client....
I m working on this from OFFSHORE....

I looked online for help and ended knowing that its a commom problem with virtual servers, but this is not the case.
Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!!!It looks like your database is corrupt.

Do you have backup? If so, restore the database.
Or
Fix the problem with allow data loss option

I upgraded from PSE 3.0 to PSE 7.0 this summer. I converted my catalog without a problem.
I recently tried to perform an incremental backup based on the last backup I did using PSE 3.0, but verison 7.0 says it will not recognize the old format, so I need to do a full backup first.
Fine. I start with the full backup which will require 26 DVDs (!?!!?). After the 3rd DVD, the program crashed with non-specific error during the disc verification. I try to restart the backup by doing an incremental and using the last disc, but no luck.
I figure my on choice is to start over. After the 10th DVD and many hours, the program crashed with non-specific error.
Now it appears that I must start the full backup over again but now I've already wasted a full day and 13 DVDs with no guarentee that it won't occur again next time on disc #22 or something.
I know that I can physically copy the files from windows onto another hard drive or DVDs, but the whole point of the full and incremental backups is preserve not just the pictures themselves, but my tags and everything else I've done in PSE.
Is there away to continue an interrupted full backup?
Ideas? For your backup needs going forward, you might consider moving away from manual backup using the PSE backup command. Hard drives are pretty cheap these days -- you can get a 500 GB external drive from Amazon for $70. Hard drives are a lot faster, and you can set up a standard backup program to backup up everything on your computer, not just your photos, on a nightly automated schedule. The main problem with DVDs and PSE backup is that it is manual, and human nature being what it is, people don't do it often enough (or at all). Also, accumulating too many incremental backups without a full backup now and then increases the likelihood that a restore will fail partially or fully. And doing a full backup to 26 DVDs is just too painful for most people!
I use two external hard drives, one for the nightly backups, and one that I backup to once a quarter and keep in my car ("offsite"). -
Full Database Backup in DB13 for MS SQL Server databases
Hello,
We have some SAP systems using the MS SQL Server database. I want to know if it is possible to setup the Full Database Backup option in transaction DB13 to store the files in a hard disk space.
I already did this type of configuration in SAP systems in Oracle databases and for this I used the init<SID>.sap where we can put all the configuration, for instance the disk path where we want to save the backup files! But for MS SQL Server databases, in DB13, I don´t know how to do that, when I add the "Full Database Backup" option in DB13, this show me some options but only for tape, but I don´t want to store the backup files in tapes, I want to store/save the files on the server disk itself or else to an external disk but I don´t see where I can set this way of storage!
This is what you see in DB13 (when using a MS SQL Server database) in "Full Database Backup" and as you see I only have options for TAPE not for a disk or other type of storage! How can I do that? (if that is possible):
Can you help me please?
Kind regards,
samid raifHello Raja
Sorry for the delay of my answer! Many thanks for that tip, it helps a lot and it solve the last error/problem that I reported here, in fact, the problem was we had named the device with two words containing a space. So we removed that space from the backup device (in SQL management studio) with one word only and the job runs successfully without any errors!
It works in Development and Quality systems but in our Production system (AM1) the Full backup option in DB13 stopped with the following error, in fact the error is on verification of backup, it means that the Full backup finished with success, but when it does the backup verification, the job in DB13 stops with an error, the following one:

Error while taking Full DB Backup
Hi,
We had Multiplexed the Archive Log File to default location(Flash Recovery Area) and log_archive_dest_1=/u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/archive
As too much of archive log's are generated we had removed the log_archive_dest_1.
We had scheduled full DB backup every sunday and incremental DB backup everyday(midnight) through OEM.
I am backing up all the archive log's and after each backup (incremental and full DB backup) we are deleting all Archive logs backed up.
The Full DB Backup failed as it is still trying to backup archive logs from log_archive_dest_1(/u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/archive)
Please find below the error log file generated after backup failed.

AmithHi,
The Archive log's has occupied full Hard Disk space so i changed the status of DB to NoArchive Log mode and deleted all the archive files available at "/u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/archive" using OS command.
Now I changed the DB to Archive Log Mode and now using RMAN to delete All Archive files which are backed up.
backup incremental level 0 cumulative device type disk tag '%TAG' database include current controlfile;
backup device type disk tag '%TAG' archivelog all not backed up delete all input;
Thanks

Dear Experts,
In our company we have a SAP 4.7 installed on MS SQL server 2000, Daily we need to stay untill all the users complete their work and fire the db13 backup and SQl query disk backup, for this i have scheduled a job in the SQL server enterprise manager and put a script where in i have to change the script everyday.
if you can provide me a script where in it changes the date & time of the file name every day automatically
The script i use is as follows:
use master
exec sp_addumpdevice 'disk','PRDF270807_1909','<path>\PRDF270807_1909'
backup DATABASE PRD to PRDF270807_1909
Kindly help me in this regards,
Thnx in advance
Kishore.Hi,
i use this script to make a backup to a different device every week, you can easily modify this to a daily change. You can add a network share as target as well.
I have this script scheduled as a SQL Agent Job and it works like a charm.
Regards
Clas

Sharepoint full farm backup generates sql logs for search application differential backups
We are running full farm backups for sharepoint. Backup completes normally but SQL logs are generated for differential backups for search service application.
it says something like:
Database differential changes were backed up: database: search_serv.......
Thanks,
BasitThis can happen for a few reasons, such as is disk contention or network issues. Are you backing up to a shared directory on the SQL Server? If not, try that.

Incomplete Recovery Fails using Full hot backup & Archive logs !!
Hello DBA's !!
I am doing on Recovery scenario where I have taken One full hot backup of my Portal Database (EPR) and Restored it on New Test Server. Also I restored Archive logs from last full hot backup for next 6 days. Also I restored the latest Control file (binary) to their original locations. Now, I started the recovery scenario as follows....
1) Installed Oracle 10.2.0.2 compatible with restored version of oracle.
2) Configured tnsnames.ora, listener.ora, sqlnet.ora with hostname of Test server.
3) Restored all Hot backup files from Tape to Test Server.
4) Restored all archive logs from tape to Test server.
5) Restored Latest Binary Control file from Tape to Test Server.
6) Now, Started recovery using following command from SQL prompt.
SQL> recover database until cancel using backup controlfile;
7) Open database after Recovery Completion using RESETLOGS option.
Now in Above scenario I completed steps upto 5) successfully. But when I execute the step 6) the recovery completes with Warning : Recovery completed but OPEN RESETLOGS may throw error " system file needs more recovery to be consistent " . Please find the following snapshot ....
ORA-00279: change 7001816252 generated at 01/13/2008 12:53:05 needed for thread

Let me know What should be the reason behind recovery failure !
Note : I tried to Open the database using Last Full Hot Backup only & not applying any archives. Then Database Opens successfully. It means my Database Installation & Configuration is OK !
Please Let me know why my Incomplete Recovery using Archive logs Goes Fail ?
Atul Patil.oh you made up a new thread so here again:
there is nothing wrong.
You restored your backup, archives etc.
you started your recovery and oracle applyed all archives but the archive
'/oracle/EPR/oraarch/1_9624_601570270.dbf'
does not exist because it represents your current online redo log file and that is not present.
the recovery process cancels by itself.
the solution is:
restart your recovery process with:
recover database until cancel using backup controlfile
and when oracle suggests you '/oracle/EPR/oraarch/1_9624_601570270.dbf'
type cancel!
now you should be able to open your database with open resetlogs. -

The step failed. As for renaming your working catalog, I could have sworn there was an option for it.. however, I can't find it...
So you have a few options here. First, you could select all of your images, and then "Export as Catalog". Enter the new name and location, and wait or it to export everything. Just be sure NOT to check mark the "include negatives", or you'll duplicate all of your images!
The second way is to use the operating system to rename two files. Just browse to it's location (if you're not sure, use file->catalog settings to show you the current one and path to it). Make sure you have exited LR, then rename the file in the OS. There are two files you need to rename: catalog.lrcat, and catalog previews.lrdat.
MAKE SURE YOU SPELL THEM CORRECTLY! I.e., don't change the extensions. Just change the names. You can delete the previews.lrdat if you wish to recreate your preview files.
When you start LR again, it will ask you if you want to create a new catalog or browse to find one. Select browse, and browse down until you select your new catalog name. And you're done.
As for backing up, when you hit catalog settings, you'll find settings to backup your catalog. There isn't a name in that section, but when the backup actually starts (for example, pick "backup next time LR exits, and then exit LR) it will give you the opertunity to choose the location you want to back up the file to.
Cheers! -

Edited by: Purvik on Aug 25, 2009 11:59 AMThere is not a chance in the world, especially not knowing column definitions that I, and I suspect most anyone else, is going to wade through this much unformated code looking for an error you couldn't bother to copy in full.
Either tell us, specifically, the line on which the error is occurring or, better yet, start whacking stuff out of your code until you find the offending definition. That is certainly what I would do. Commenting out sections is a marvelous way to quickly find an issue.
Before you post again please read the FAQ. It will explain to you how to properly post and use the tags. -
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Setup error: Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed
Hi,
Having this annoying error trying to install SQL Server 2014 (RTM). I saw it's been asked several times... But each post seems a different cause and no definitive answer...
I'm not doing an upgrade, so no "sa account" issue.
Tried different media. Even three different distributions: trial, Standard and Enterprise.
Tried disabling Microsoft antivirus/firewall.
Of course tried restarting, updating, installing, uninstalling, repairing, etc., etc.
I noticed the users folders under C:\Users weren't created. (Maybe something related to permissions?) After playing around, I managed for the users to be created and the service started. Though I couldn't log in.Summary for last "repair" attempt:

I have Last Sunday's Full BCV (Buisness Copy Volume) backup (i.e. ..... the tablespaces were taken into Backup mode then Sync the BCV, then split the BCV , take the backup of BCV and take the tabespaces in normal mode in short what we call as HOT BACKUP ........ ) & also I am taking only archive log & control file backup Daily.
Now I want to Run my database on Different Server using the above FULL BCV & daily backed up Archive logs & Control file.
Kindly update me- Can I go for following recovery steps for above scenario.
1) Install ORACLE software on new server.
2) Restore the last Sunday's FULL BCV (Hot backup)
3) Restore the archive log from last Sunday's Full BCV backup.
4) Restore the latest backed up control file.
5) Mount the database.
6) Recover the database using backed up control file & archive logs.
7) Open the database with RESETLOGS option.
Please Guide me whether I can Fully Recover/Start database on this new server using above steps. ---OR---- " Are there any more files except data files that need to be backed up daily after Full BCV ? " ---OR ---- More suggestions are Welcome.
I want to test this scenario bcz.
a) I can't afford daily BCV due to lack of storage with current retention given by buisness.
b) I can't afford long time taken by RMAN for backup & recovery, as it disturbs my other backup shedules, also RTO should be very low as per my buisness requirement.
c) Currently we are not thinking for any another Backup options.
OS platform -- SOLARIS 10
Database version -- ORACLE 9i/10g
Atul.Hello everybody ....
Actually I am doing the above scenario practically and I am facing the problem that when I am applying my archive logs using backup controlfile until cancel, the recovery completes upto the available Archive logs/sequence. But it throws the following error along with it ......

So, I opened my database using Last (Sunday's) full hot backup only and it opens successfully without applying any archives.
Now, my question is... why my database doesn't open with OPEN RESETLOGS option when I am recovering it using command " RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL CANCEL USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE; "
I want to recover my database upto Saturday then What should I do ?
Please help me out !
