MS SQLServer 7.0 and WLPS
Hi,
I am in the process of starting a new service and have some trouble deciding
whether I should use
Oracle or MS-SQL Server as the database. I would prefer to use MS-SQL for
its ease of use
and due to the fact that the load will not be an issue.
My only concern is how hard it would be to port the WLPS DB-schemas to
MS-SQL.
Has anyone done this, and how hard is it?
Is there any other problems that I might expect if I go for the MS-SQL
solution?
Please note that this is not an invitation to a Oracle vs MsSQL flame war.

Hi,
I'm looking for information about which version of coherence is supported with WLP? can someone point me to any documentation (if any)?
Thanks! Please take a look at the latest version, v3.7, of Coherence Integration Guide, Chapter 4, Integrating WebLogic Portal and Oracle Coherence:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18686_01/coh.37/e18691/wlportal.htm#sthref104
It has information and links to the supported Oracle WebLogic Portal (10.3.2).

Link server SqlServer 2008 R2 and oracle 8i
Hi,
I have many days trying to link a oracle 8i 8.1.6.3 AIX with SQLServer 2008 R2 64 bits.
I tested with ODAC: 11,10 and 9.
Any one can tell me any suggestions to do it? I read many articles and blogs and says not possible to do.
Some guys wroted in blogs articles that was succesful, but when I do the step by step dont work.
We cant update the oracle 8i 8.1.6.3 AIX, we cant shut down the system.
Kind regards.Just an update to this problem as I have had time to get round to looking at it again.
Installed MSSQL Server 2008 on a Windows XP 32 bit virtual PC.
Installed Oracle Instant Client, copied the TNSNAMES.ORA from the server above.
Set the Environmental Variables and rebooted.
Same BIDS package as in the original problem.
Only 8 seconds to run and transfer 39062 rows, roughly 4883 rows a second!
I am very curious about where the problem lies.
Is it a problem with the Oracle 64 bit drivers but while within the BIDS environment it should be using the 32 bit drivers?
The package did not run any faster when using MS SQL Agent to run the package where it would have used the 64 bit drivers.
I think I will leave this Virtual XP setup running on our Virtual Server Server to do the transfers.
I'd still like to know what the problem is and how to fix it.
So if anyone else has the same problem and solves it please post the answer here.
Thanks in advance

I am planning to use sqlserver 2012 Enterprise edition software and i am in the process of procuring the
per core License for the same.I would take 1 to 2 monts for quote ,discussions,License ,delivery of the product .
Now i am in need to Install the sqlserver 2012 software urgently, and i am thinking of to download Evaluation Edition and once i received the Licensed product key i will upgrade to Enterprise edition.Does this
a Valid Approach.
If this is not ,please suggest how i can download and use the sqlserver 2012 Enterprise edition with AlwaysOn avaialbility Groups software.
Thanks
SurendraHi,
Yes it is possible to upgrade evaluation version to licensed version.
Yes it is a valid approach too, but be aware that licensed version is valid upto 180 days.

Content Express and WLPS 3.5
Hi,
We are having a hard time trying to retrieve content not from the WLPS tables
but from Interwoven Content Express new content table, do you have any idea on
wish steps should we follow to achieve this?
Thanx in advanced!!Hi,
This is Prashanth Bhat, based out of Delhi,India.Iam trying to
integrate Content Express with WEBLOGIC PORTAL 4.0.If u have done any integration
with Interwoven's Content Express,pls tell
me the steps (critical ones)to follow.Even if u have integrated
with WLCS 3.5,its fine.
Iam facing these problems after installing the Content Express
1.I could able to deploy the Content Express web application with
portal by modyfying the config.xml file.
2.I could even able to get the page if i access
http://localhost:7501/ContentExpress/Login.
3.The login page appears, but could not get into the content express system.
Pls help me in completing my task.
Thanks in advance,

Spring 2.5 and WLP integration
Hello,
I'm trying to integrate Spring 2.5 with a Bea Portal 9.2 application.
Given a simple three layers architecture (web/service/dao), I would like to be able to inject the service pojos into the action classes. The web layer is based on Struts and I'm using the Struts/Portal plugin.
I have tried different approaches but the bottom line is that the Portal framework (Beehive) doesn't like that the Action is instantiated by Spring. There are Lifecycle related exceptions.
I was wondering if any of you guys ever tried to do something like that and got any luck.
Of course, I can get the service bean via getBean(...) but I would like to avoid having Spring classes imported into my Struts controllers.
Any idea?
Thanks
LucianoIs that so? No one ever tried integrating Spring and Portal?
That's quite scary, which company would ever decide to use a product that does have no history of integration with the leading J2ee framework (Spring). -
CRITICAL: WLI and WLP 7.0
Hi,
Is it possible to have in one single server weblogic integration and
weblogic portal ?
Thanks in advance since this integration of these 2 products is critical for
us.
Cheers,
AlexandreI agree it is a bug since the subVI should return the content of untouched cluster elements and behave the same with panel opened/closed.
However, you have to know that indicators (on FP) and terminals (on BD) are not exactly the same thing in a VI. Controls are graphical objects to display data. Terminals hold data in the block diagram. They are related as the Control usually displays the Terminal data, but LabVIEW tries not to update the Control unnecessarly when the front panel is closed or otherwise not visible.
But they are not exactly the same. For example take the working lv-bug3.vi and make it reentrant. You'll see that it doesn't work anymore. The Control has been incremented on the front panel but the subVI outputs the same cluste
r as input. That is because when you make a VI reentrant, the Terminal is disconnected from the Control. All instances of a reentrant VI share the same FP and Controls but keep their own terminals. In your code your write a value in the terminal and another in the control since the value property node is a property of the control, not of the terminal.
In your test case (non-reentrant) the bug occurs probably because LabVIEW fails to keep the terminal data and the control data properly synchronized when the front panel is closed.
There is no reason to use the value property node in a non-UI subVI and it should be avoided. The correct way to implement your code is as altenbach showed in his picture: use wires and write output to the terminal.

Hi,
I had a small request w.r.t the Personalization Server. We are currently
using Netegrity SiteMinder4.51 as our third-party authentication tool and
WLPS as our personalization Server. Now the issue is that we would like to
have a common login process (one for the Application through SiteMinder)
and the other for WLPS.So how do I integrate WLPS with my application using
SiteMinder.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
MadhuHi,
I just started looking into integrating Cocoon's XSP with WLPS. I am
new to both technologies, but I am noticing that WLPS heavily uses JSP
tag libraries. I am in the process of trying to determine if XSP can
simply call JSP taglibs? If not does anyone who is more familiar with
WLPS have any feedback as to whether or not it would be possible to
create home grown XSP taglibs to get XSP and WLPS integrated? Are the
WLPS JSP taglibs just a separation layer between JSP and EJB, or do they
contain a lot of logic? A personalized XSP portal using WLS and WLPS
would be a very powerful platform!
Thanks,
Ian

Can't use Oracle 8.1.7 as WLP repository
OK, I've been racking my brain on this for three days now.. maybe someone has an
idea...
The basic problem is this: I have yet been able to make a WLP content repository
work with
Oracle 8.1.7 and WLP 8.1.
I have tried several methods, including the ones mentioned here:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs81/db/3Oracle.html (to move cgPool to an Oracle
database), and by creating a completely new portal domain from scratch, using
"Custom" (instead of Express) from the configuration wizard, setting up the JDBC
pools to point to Oracle (connection passed, database load passed correctly).
I then deploy a simple Portal Application / Portal Project created in workshop
as an EAR
(let's call it testPortal). Deployment seems to go fine. The outcome of all
methods is the same: the administration portal works fine. When I click on "Content",
I see the BEA repository. I can add nodes to the repository, AS LONG AS THEY
ARE DIRECTLY UNDER the BEA repository (for example: BEA Repository/TestNode).
However, if I try to add a node under that node (for example: BEA Repository/TestNode/TestNodeChild),
I get the following error from the admin portal as a popup box:
- Error creating Node: TestChildNode. Please verify the Node name size is within
Repository limits.
I can add any number of content items (including the standard content types that
were loaded:
article, book, image, etc) or nodes directly under BEA Repository, but I cannot
add anything under other nodes or the above error appears.
Some data is definitely getting to Oracle. After adding a node under BEA Repository,
a record for that node shows up in the database. The JDBC log shows an ORA-2291
(constraint violated) error (from jdbc.log):
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (DIAGEOCMS.FK1_CM_NODE)
v
iolated - parent key not found
This foreign key constraint is a pointer for the parent id of the node, back into
the cm_node table.
If I roll back the cgPool to pointbase, it works fine. Just not with an Oracle
8.1.7 cgPool
(or any other name, for that matter). I have tested this under both Win 2K and
Linux AS.
Other details: I did use a non-XA driver as suggested in the edocs link above.
For the cgPool, I used the Oracle Type 4 non-XA driver. I changed all the relevant
data sources to point at the new pool. And I did change the cgJMS store to use
the new pool as well.
Is anyone else successfully using Oracle 8.1.7 and Portal 8.1 with the repository?
Sorry for the length of the message.. difficult one to explain.
Thanks,
BobD'oh.
OK, it turns out that our staging database was NOT the Oracle 8.1.7.4 I thought
it was. Migrated from the 8.1.7.0 database to 8.1.7.4 resolved this problem.

Dblink to SqlServer using more than one user...
Hi All,
I'm in a migration project, SqlServer to Oracle. I'm using the Transparent Gateway to connect from Oracle to SqlServer, using the database link process.
When I created the dblink I used the SA (SqlServer sysdba user), and in the future tests I need to connec with others users, not SA.
Anyone knows how can I create a dblink to connect with more than one user?
Thanks,
Gustavo.you need to create a new database link.

Dear all,
I've tried to reserved tables from my SQL 2005 from my designer..But there some strange problem which is the tables can not be reserved. Is there any setting that i was missed..??
Thanks.
Rgds,
VienThanks guys for trying to help
Previously, I used to see this error
com.sunopsis.sql.c: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
and so I downloaded the driver and installed it on /orahome_1/oracledi/drivers directory.
Once I installed the driver, I am getting
7000 : null : com.sunopsis.sql.l: Oracle Data Integrator Timeout: connection with URL
So, I am thinking the agent is recognizing the driver but still not able to connect.
CTS, If you are saying whether I tested the connection using the agent. Yes, I did and it is resulting in the same error.
Can you please elaborate if you suggest trying something else. -
Stopping sql server services while applying Service pack On SQL server 2008 and 2008 R2
Hi,
I am planning to apply service pack 3 for SQL 2008 R2 and Service pack 4 for SQL server 2008. This is my first time and I am applying first QA and DEV environment. I have one confusion. In cluster once you fail over sql resources to active node all of the
sql services including SQLSERVER and Agent are automatically stopped in passive node where we apply service pack. But in Stand alone, The services are not automatically stopped. Do I need to manually stop those services like SQLSERVER, Agent, Browser
and others if any before I start applying service pack?
Early Response is highly appreciated.
Thanks In AdvanceHello,
You don’t need to stop SQL Server services. Let SQL Server setup do it as needed.
Please read the following article for the cluster you would like to update:

Retrieve Image from SQL Server and Store in Oracle
Hi All
I want to retrieve the image stored in sql server as a image type and store that image to oracle as a BLOB type.
I tried to retrive the image from sqlserver using getBytes and when storing to Oracle i have to type cast the byte array to BLOB then only it will be inserted please tell how to typecast byte array to BLOB.
Or is there alternative way how to retrieve the image stored in sql server as a image type and store that image to oracle as a BLOB type.
