MS Word Acrobat icons gone

After I installed to the latest update to Acrobat Professional 8, the icons from MS Word (Office 2007) disappeared. How do I get them back?

I solved the problem. Go to "Office Options" in Wordit's on the upper leftand click on WORD OPTIONS. Go to ADD-INS and you will see that "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin" is under the disabled applicatoins. Go down to MANAGE and select "DISABLE". Then GO, and enable it. Close Word.
Open again to the same place in WORD OPTIONS and you will see that Acrobat has moved up to "Inactive Application Add-ins". Go down to MANAGE again and click GO on "COM Add-ins). Close and open. Voilà.

My facebook app went dark and had the word "waiting" below it and I can not delete so I downloaded a new facebook app which is ok but the old app is still there but now the word "waiting" is gone and still cannot delete.

This is my boilerplate respone for the "waiting apps" problem. Give these suggestions a try in order.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • Adding more Acrobat Icons in Outlook? Acrobat 9 Standard and/or Pro

Does anyone have the ability to add more Acrobat icons in Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007?  I have been looking for a way to add a icon for Append to Existing PDF.  Acrobat 7 had it but now we have Acrobat 9.
The current way to append is to click on Adobe PDF, Convert Selected Messages, Append to Existing PDF.  The Append to Existing PDF icon in Outlook saves an extreme amount of time.  This was very useful and is missed greatly.
If anyone knows of a way to add a new icon or a third-party add-in, please let me know.  Thank you!!

Thanks. Bummer Then I must beg my boss for Pro that one feature
    Thanks again

  • PDF files only show the Acrobat icon

Hi, I'm new and just read all of the PDF discussions about Safari.
I have a similar problem. Each time I open a PDF page all I get
is the Acrobat icon in the middle of the screen. When I try to
save as to my desktop, it's always corrupted.
I can't remember ever installing any plug ins or anything. This just
    started to happen one day.
I have Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional and Safari 2.0.4.
I've tried to understand everything that's been discussed here but
it's a little over my head and I think that me being on an Apple iMac 5G
may be a little different than a Windows app.
    Any suggestions? Anyone?

    Hello,
Safari has it's own built-in PDF viewer so doesn't really need Adobe Reader to help it. Try disabling the Adobe Reader plug-in (you do this via the Internet preferences with Adobe Reader, not in Safari) and quitting/restarting Safari once the Reader plug-in has been disabled.
    Hope that helps.

  • The "portable document format" icon is a Word 2010 icon, so selecting Adobe Reader as action does not work to display the PDF.

In the Applications tab -- Content Type -- the "portable document format" icon is a Word 2010 icon (not Adobe), so selecting Adobe Reader or preview in Firefox as action does not work to display the PDF. I can see this Applications difference because my other Firefox laptop has the Adobe icon, and I can view PDFs. Essentially, a PDF is coming in as a Word document -- and the computer tries to open it up as a Word file.
How do I get the correct PDF icon in the Applications list -- the same way it displays (and works) on my other laptop.

Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.7 ?
I think you need to add this to the list of applications and the action to take on the type of content. This can also be managed in the about:permissions page. [[Permissions Manager - Give certain websites the ability to store passwords, set cookies and more]]

  • Pretty much confirmed interactivity between Word/Acrobat Mac vs. Same on PC is completely hosed in certain situations...Please tell me I am wrong!

I've pretty much confirmed that the interactivity between Word/Acrobat Mac vs. Word/Acrobat PC is completely hosed in certain situations...Please tell me I am wrong!
Situation: two workgroups need to work with each other sharing and editing word and pdf files for complex documents containing a TOC, list of figures, etc.
Problems reproducible on many machine types and configs:
    1. WORD FILES: TOCs do not retain hot links within a doc that has been touched by a mac, and then re-saved as a PDF with the intent to have a linked TOC with chapter heads.
    2. PDF FILES: that have been touched by a mac, for example to edit the document properties, will loose all TOC function as in problem #1 above.
In short, this rots for mac users who have to share/edit these files with PC brethren.
The only solution that I found for mac users is this:
Do your thing in Word 2008. Then have a PC version of Word and PC version of acrobat installed on a virtual drive like Parallels or VMWare, etc. Delete your TOC using MS Word for Windows, reinsert a new one, and then use the PC distiller installed into word by Acrobat Professional to create a new PDF that will be cross-platform functional.
I had a meeting with the Mac users to explain this work around and they looked at me like I was crazy, and they pretty much said go pound sand, we don't care if the TOCs are linked or not.
Well, I may be exaggerating there a bit, but NO ONE was happy with this solution, including myself. Our BIG question is "Is anyone going to fix this problem in the shortterm?!?" And it's Microsoft and Adobe both that seem to have some responsibility here...with an emphasis on Adobe, as it's clearly not just an MS isssue, as you can totally destroy a working TOC in a PDF file by just editing the file properties on a mac. Arg...
I also find it frustrating that Adobe does not have a forum for cross-platform specific issues, which to me seems consipiritory. Ha!

  • Acrobat icon in Windows Explorer is wrong

    Hi,
I've got Adobe Acrobat 7 installed, but for some reason the Acrobat icon does not appear in Windows explorer. What appears is the 'unrecognized' program icon. PDF files still open with Acrobat, but I've noticed I cannot use Windows search to search for text strings in the PDF files. I tried reinstalling, installing Acrobat Reader, changing to other program icons and changing back, increasing the icon cache size, but I still have the same problem. I even downloaded and installed a trial version of Acrobat 9, but the problem persists.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You are talking about 2 different things. Sometimes the icons seem to change - apparently a MS OS problem. Anyway, you can fix the icon from Windwos Explere to going to the TOOLS>Folder Options>file types menu and selecting a new ICON for PDF files.
As for the text search, I think you are talking about the limited search that is the default with MS Win XP and later. There is a flag in the registry you can change to fix this so that XP will search ALL files, not just the ones in their favorite list (i.e. - OFFICE files). I ran into this a year ago after looking for a file I new existed but not being able to find it for almost a year (sometimes I am bad about filing some files). I found the flag and within 2 minutes found the file. You may still have some problems with a PDF since it is a binary file and the information should be able to be seen directly by the OS. You will have to do a search for the flag as I do not remember it.

  • The acrobat icon is not display in my email client after installation, therefore I am unable to open

I installed the newest acrobat reader in my iPad2, but the acrobat icon is not showing on the top row of my email client as adobe described in "getting started". Since iBooks doesn't support PDF how do I resolve this so I can open my docs? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the app?

For some documents, the Mail app will attempt to show a "preview" of the document in the message. Unfortunately, sometimes this preview is just a blank white page so it's "invisible". Can you please try long pressing on the white space at the end of the email and letting up your finger. You may see a "open in" option upon doing this. If this doesn't work, please send a sample of the message to us at [email protected]
    Thanks!

  • Acrobat icon in dock bouncing when pdf file is minimized

Often when I have a pdf open, and minimize it so it goes in the dock, the Acrobat icon will start bouncing up and down for attention. Why does it do this annoying thing?

I have version 8.1.2 and I still get the bouncing dock icon when a pdf is minimized. Even if I haven't minimized it, and it is just not the currently active app, the dock icon still bounces. What's the deal?

  • The icons for my .ai files have all changed to Acrobat icons*

I have recently upgraded to CS5 and OS Lion. I have noticed that recently all of my .ai files now seem to have an Acrobat icon instaed of an Illustrator icon.
    Is this normal?

Not normal but since the format of AI files is now PDF instead of PostScript it can happen. There are some utility apps out there that will "nudge" a file and re-establish the proper file associations.  See here http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14014/nudge

  • Windows 7 Toolbar displays generic icon, not Acrobat icon

I hve used Acrobat forever. However, recently, the Windows 7 toolbar has been displaying only a generic icon, not the Acrobat icon, when the program is open. I have not discovered yet how to change the icon in windows 7 (Microsoft always tries to keep such things secret because they are control freaks).

How is the SD card formatted?
Maybe it needs to be in a format that the windows machine will understand, like FAT32.

  • Acrobat Icon

Upgraded the latest version of Adobe Acrobat X, 10.1.2 yesterday.  After a few minutes, the Acrobat icon on my desktop changes to the first page of the pdf document. Had this same problem with previous versions of Acrobat.
How do I maintain the document's Acrobat Icon on desktop?  Thanks.

It seems that my previous message in this thread has got lost in the Internet.
If it's the icons of your files changing to the typical PDF icon (and not the files themselves being converted to PDF format), you may want to try this:

  • HT1386 why won't my ipad charge from my computer - my iphone does! and where has my facetime and contacts icons gone?

Why won't my ipad charge from my computer when my iphone does? also where have my facetime and contacts icons gone?

A computer USB port does not provide enough power to charge and run the iPad at the same time but it will charge it if the iPad is turned off.  It will take about four times as long to charge than with the iPad charger.
The Contacts icon may be inside a folder, such as Utilities.
There is no Facetime icon.  Start a Facetime link from a contact.
