MS Word Background image not converting

I have Microsoft Word 2007 & Acrobat Pro 9. I created a document in Word, and that doc has a background image. However, when I try to convert it to a PDF, one of two things happens: 1) the PDF is created with no background image, or 2) the background image is reduced in size & tiled in repeating rows in the background. Neither of these is acceptable! I've tried the following:
From in Word -->Print-->Acrobat PDF
From Acrobat -->Create PDF-->From File
From Word -->Save As-->PDF
From Acrobat-->set background image
This is quite frustrating, since I don't want to re-do everything in Photoshop just to render the PDF properly. I set the image as a background in Word because I want it to cover the whole 8.5"x11" space without any margins. The image is a 95 dpi JPG sized at 8.5"x11"

You may need to check Acrobat and be sure you have Display Large Images selected. If that is not the issue, it may be a setting in your print options of WORD. Programs like WORD and PPT often have the default set to not print background images because they use so much toner in a regular printer. Since you are using a digital printer that option is not needed.

  • Word cross references not converting to hyperlinks

    The cross references (i.e. {REF Welcome \h}) to bookmarks in
    my Word document are not converting to hyperlinks in the HTML when
    I have "Convert references into hyperlinks" checked when importing
    the Word document (either in doc or docx format). This did work
    with the older version Robohelp 5. Is there a setting I'm missing?
    Thank you!
    Pat

    You said you've tried mapping styles.
    I solved a similar situation. This involved a FrameMaker book imported by reference to RoboHelp. A cross reference to the paragraph style "Figure Title" was not getting converted.
    I realized that in RoboHelp, I had mapped "Figure Title" to "None" or no output. (I do not want figure titles appearing in the online output, only in print).
    Therefore, since the style was not mapped, the content was excluded and the cross reference did not get converted.
    A different situation, but perhaps it can point you in the right direction.
    Try changing the cross reference in FrameMaker to the next nearest heading, table title, or figure title. See if that makes a difference.
    Make sure all the styles from each of your FrameMaker files is mapped to a RoboHelp style.

  • Background Image Not Visible in Browser

    I have searched the forum but I'm not finding a solution that
    works.
    I'm trying to put a background .png image in a header. It
    shows up in Dreamweaver but not in preview mode. I have an external
    style sheet that contains this:
    .twoColFixRtHdr #header {
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    height: 126px;
    width: 770px;
    padding: 0;
    background-position: left top;
    margin: 0px;
    background-image: url(assets/pictures/banner_3.png);
    My page contains the following:
    <div id="header">
    <h1 class="banner_title_top">Text</h1>
    <h1><span class="banner_title_bottom">Text
    </span>
    <!-- end #header -->
    </h1>
    The ".twoColFixRtHdr" is coming from the fact that I'm using
    a pre-made Dw CSS layout.
    Any help is very appreciated.

  • Converting .doc file to PDF using Word 2008 - does not convert as is..

    I am trying to convert a .doc file (Word 2008) to a PDF file.  I have tried using the save as function and the print function.  Both will work however everytime 2 things happen:
    1.  The PDF file splits into 2 files (the document is 20 pages long)
    2.  In one area of text, two words are overlapped (in the PDF version) but are not overlapped in the .doc version.
    How do I convert the .doc to a PDF with out these two items occuring?
    Thanks in advance for your help
    T.

    I do not think this is an app but rather a function of MS-Word, the very function that does not work with high fidelity on Mac.  Any document of substance (greater than 10,000 words, imbedded images, figures, tables, or high formatting) will not convert accurately to PDF on Macbook Pro.
    Using newest MS Office with updated service pacs, and experienced users. This is a puzzling incompetency on the Apple team's side. And there have been no fixes.  One could argue this is a MS problem since the software is theirs.  Probably true, but the problem occurs on Mac platforms, not PC platforms.  Apple can drive improvements.  Not sure Apple customers can.

    @media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;

    Because I can't see your site and code in context, I will make a guess that this style is throwing off your alignment:
    /* Menu item containers, position children relative to this container and are a fixed width */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    position: relative;
    text-align: center;
    cursor: pointer;
    width: 160px;
    float: left;
    background-image: url(file:///E|/MAIN_website/images/menu_background.jpg);
    Remove the text-align:center; from the above style.
    Instead of centering your list element (li), center the link text (a) itself:
    /* Menu items are a light gray block with padding and no text decoration */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a
    display: block;
    cursor: pointer;
    padding: 0.5em 0.75em;
    color: #FFF;
    text-align: center;
    text-decoration: none;
    font-family: Cambria, Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 14px;
    If you don't want the submenu text to be centered, do this immediately after the previous style:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul a {text-align: left;}
    The sub-submenus are also set up by default to be jogged a bit to the right. You can adjust this style:
    /* Submenus should appear slightly overlapping to the right (95%) and up (-5%) */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul ul
    position: absolute;
    margin: -5% 0 0 95%;
    that causes sub-submenus to fly out to the right of the submenus to which they attach.
    Submenus themselves (not the sub-submenus) should fall directly under the top menu item by default, once you remove the text-align: center; on the li item (above).

  • DIV Background image not displaying in FF

    Hi!
    I'm building a floated 3 column DIV layout with a wrapper to center the DIVs. I put a background image in the wrapper to give the appearance of the columns stretching to the bottom of the layout. It displays in IE, but not in FF.
    If I give the wrapper a height, the background image shows, but I want the layout to expand as I enter content. My code is below.
    I must be missing something. Any tips?
    CSS:
    #left {
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #middle{
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #right {
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #footer {
    background-color: #316262;
    float: left;
    width: 600px;
    clear: both;
    #wrapper {
    width: 600px;
    margin-right: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
    background-image: url(images/bkg_css_layout.gif);
    BODY CODE:
    <div id="wrapper">
        <div id="left">Content for "left" Goes Here</div>
        <div id="middle"> Content for"middle" Goes Here </div>
        <div id="right">Content for"right" Goes Here </div>
        <div id="footer">Content for "footer" Goes Here</div>
    </div>

    Turns out that I couldn't have a float on my footer with clear:both!
    FIXED! YEA!

  • Background image not cached in browser

    Hi,
    Using JDeveloper 11g R1.
    We have a template, with a PanelGroupLayout component with a background image, like follows:
    <af:panelGroupLayout layout="horizontal"
    inlineStyle="width:100%; height:2px; background-image:url(&quot;images/separacioRalles.jpg&quot;); background-repeat:repeat-x;"
    id="pt_pgl5">
    In runtime, the request made by the browser includes and _adf.ctrl-state=xxxxxx parameter, which I supose causes the browser not checking the cache.
    image/jpeg     http://127.0.0.1:7101/ViewController-context-root/faces/images/separacioRalles.jpg?_adf.ctrl-state=1bn1yq032y_79
    Is there any way to avoid this _adf.ctrl-state? or another way to set the desired background?
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hi Frank,
    Not working fine at all.
    I tried as you said:
    <af:panelGroupLayout layout="horizontal"
    inlineStyle="width:100%; height:2px; background-repeat:repeat-x; background-image:url(&quot;/images/separacioRalles.jpg&quot;);"
    id="pt_pgl5">
    and this is the request received on the server:
    127.0.0.1 - weblogic [28/ago/2009:10:39:58 +0200] "GET /images/separacioRalles.jpg HTTP/1.1" 404 1214
    Comparing with an af:image component:
    <af:image shortDesc="asdf"
    source="/images/help.gif" id="pt_i1"/>
    the request received on the server:
    127.0.0.1 - weblogic [28/ago/2009:10:39:58 +0200] "GET /ViewController-context-root/images/help.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 0
    If I put the contextroot in the background-image:url (background-image:url(&quot;/ViewController-context-root/images/separacioRalles.jpg&quot;), it works fine.
    127.0.0.1 - weblogic [28/ago/2009:10:44:28 +0200] "GET /ViewController-context-root/images/separacioRalles.jpg HTTP/1.1" 304 0
    So seems that the background image url is not built in the same way as using af:image component.

  • Hyperlink word with bookmark not converted in HTML

    Hi,
    I use RH10 to create an HTML help from several Word documents.
    I have a problem with Word hyperlink that is not converted in the HTML output. In my RH10 project, i have 2 link word document. I created with Word an hyperlink with bookmark in a document called docA.docx on another Word document called docB.docx. The docB.docx document contains the bookmark called by the docA.docx document. The hyperlink property in Word is "docB.docx#myBookmark".
    This hyperlink works fine with Word, when i clic on the link in the docA.docx the docB.docs document is open by Word.
    Problem appears when i update the word document in RH10 to generate HTML document. The HTML hyperlink token href="" is generated so there is no hyperlink on the HTML output.
    When i remove the bookmark in the Word document the HTML hyperlink token href="docB.docx" is generated. So i don't know if it's a RH10 bug or if this feature is not supported by RH10.
    For information, i used hyperlink with bookmark because cross-reference is not allowed with multiple document.
    Regards,

    your example show a conversion of a cross-reference in Word.
    I'm talking about classic hyperlink in Word.
    Clic on hyperlink
    Select an another Word file containing a bookmark
    Clic on the "Bookmark" button in english version of Word ("Signet..." in my french version) and select the bookmark
    When you clic on "OK" button the hyperlink path is updated with the bookmark
    And this path link is not converted in the HTML generated by RH. If i change the "#" by another character the generation is ok.

    You need to revise you background url!
    This is what you have
    background-image:url(file:///P|/websites2/century21print/images/AbstractLightRays.jpg);
    it should be something like
    background-image:url(/images/AbstractLightRays.jpg);
    that 'file:///P|...' is not right!

    You have no width or height set for that element so it can not show an image unless you make the div at least the same size as the image.
    <div style="background-image:url(http://www.gratefulcreative.com/Andre_Madiz/images/bottom_text.png);ba ckground-repeat:no-repeat; width:871px; height:483px;">
    You may also want to consider adding this to your main css file and giving the div an id which will help you out in the future.

    Your document type doesn't match your HTML closing tags.  Modify > Page properties > Encoding > choose either HTML or XHTML (transitional) and hit Apply.
    Images require an alt attribute for better web accessibility. If you want to skip this for now and add them later, that's OK.
    but your code won't validate until you add them to each image.
    When you've fixed the code errors, repbulish the page and see if that fixes the problem.

    Thanks for the replies Nancy O. and Murray.
    It's been so long since I did this hack (for FireFox), I don't remember anything about it.
    I believe I should delete lines 80 & 81, and leave everything else, right?:
    -moz-border-radius: 20px;
    -webkit-border-radius: 20px;
    Is there anything else I need to do?
    Murray, where did you get this code?:

    Yes - this is the result of that hack:

    Dump it!
    Thanks again, both of you!

  • Word document links not converting to WebHelp

    I have an Word 2007 document that contains hyperlinks to send
    an email and to jump to another place in the same document. I
    imported the document into my RoboHelp project and all looks fine.
    But when I create the WebHelp the links do not work. This is my
    first really using RoboHelp. I had previously did "Save As..html"
    in Word and then used HTML Workshop to create chm files. The links
    in there work fine.

    No, creating a chm does not work either. It seems whatever I
    mark using "Hyperlink" in Word does not convert over to the
    appropriate HTML tags. I looked at the html source and it basically
    just has font info (underline, etc) - no link info.
