MS WORD Doc downloads

I am a College Professor who teaches online. I have been using a .docX converter for WORD 2007 files that students send me. With Leopard I am finding that all files are opening as a .rtf file. Is this a new function with Leopard. I like to use the COMMENT/CORRECTION tools with MS WORD. Any ideas?

I also am a university adjunct and am faced with the same issue. I wasn't aware that there was a converter that I could use. What/how do you use it? Our university requires Office and many are running Vista and uploading their work. The .docx is a nightmare. I now ask all my students running Office 2007 to save and upload in 'rtf' format. You are right, you miss the opportunity to comment without 'save as' workarounds once opening it up. I look l forward to the spring upgrade of Mac Office but I hope Microsoft does better upgrading it than Apple did in upgrading it's operating systems. I hope we don't have to struggle through the initial versions of Office as we are still struggling with Leopard...oh my....

Have you tried dragging it onto your Pages icon?
Is it by any chance passworded?
It helps if you give some details:
eg What version of Pages you are using?
Can you just open Pages on its own?
The file extension and origin of the word doc
What message does the computer pop up when it fails to open?
Otherwise it is all just guesswork.

Download Word .doc file saved in MIME Repository to local PC

I need to store a static Word document on the SAP server and download to the user's browser via a BSP application. I have found code in the IT00 BSP Application to download the Word doc in xstring form to the browser, which will work for what I'm doing. What I cannot seem to find, however, is how to retrieve the Word .doc file stored in the MIME repository and then subsequently how to convert this MIME object to an xstring value. Is there a class or function module available to retrieve and convert the MIME object to an xstring form so that it can be returned as a response back to the browser?

What you are trying to do is upload a file to a server not download. Depending on the mechanism that the server uses an alternate browser like iCab may be able to do this.

After I exported a PDF to a Word doc and downloaded it, I can't get the pointer tool to work.

After I exported a PDF to a Word doc and downloaded it, I can't get the pointer tool to work. When I click on the document text, the only tool is the "move" tool. I can't edit or select text. Please advise.

Version of Adobe: Adobe ExportPDF (not Pro)
Operating system: Windows 8.1
Steps I am taking: When the PDF file is selected and opened, I clicked on Tools menu on right side of the screen; then I clicked on Select PDF file; then under Convert To, I selected Microsoft Word (*.docx); then I hit the box below that; and clicked Convert. I then see the message that says it is Converting to Export PDF Online. Then I see a link below that, that says Download Converted File. This takes me online to Adobe Acrobat .com, where, I see the command, Export PDF, and see a blue box on the same screen that says Select PDF Files to Export. I click on the thumbnail of the file I want to export. This brings up, online, a screen containing the file I wanted to convert to Word. Then, on the same screen, I click on the icon on the right hand of the screen that says Download. then I click on the box on the bottom the screen that contains the Word document I had wanted to convert. This brings up the Word doc. in Compatibility Mode the latest Word version, which I am unfamiliar with and which has a Picture Tools tab that I cannot escape from and I cannot get any selection tool other that the Move pointer, and I cannot find the Select text pointer to select any text on the page. I don't want this Word version and do not know how to return to the old version of Word that I am familiar with.

Can't download word docs or PDF's from Google Docs

I cannot download word docs or pdf's from Google docs. I can download MP3's.
I get an error message saying IE can't find the website.
The google docs forum response to this problem was to uninstall the current version of Flash and install Flash 10.1 I'd like to try this suggestion but don't know how to implement the procudure or where to find Flash 10.1 and choose which version of it to install
What is the best way to do that?
I currently have Flash Player 10.3.181.14 installed
I use IE Ver 8.0.6001.1870
And Windows XP pro version 5.1.2600 SP 3 Build 2600

I cannot quite understand how Google Docs is related to Flash Player. But anyway, to revert to an earlier Flash Player version
downoad the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and save it to disk;
download the archived FP 10.1 installers from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and save it to disk;
close all browser instances, then run the downloaded uninstaller;
extract the latest 10.1 installer (ActiveX for IE, plugin for other browsers) and run it.
Don't hesitate to ask again if my instructions are not clear.

Cannot download .pdf files and word docs from KM using Web Dynpro

Dear Portal Gurus,
Using KM API, I am trying to download, documents from KM in my Web Dynpro Application. But .pdf files and word docs with screenshots are not getting retrieved from KM. Word docs opens with no content and Adobe opens with an error saying "Either it is a damaged file or It is not a supported file".
I am using the following KM service to download the content.

Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar

Adobe wont print or download word docs. It's taken over our SYSTEM!!!

What happened to Adobe? Where have you gone? First of all, where is a decent support link that doesn't take you everywhere to avoid direct support or to ask a question?????
I am a potential cusotmer for our organization. We have loaded the adobe 9 trial. Now, we cannot download ANY email attachments unless they are adobe. If we want to download a word doc, the adobe page pops up wanting to convert to adobe before doing anything. That's problem #1
Problem #2, word docs do not print. The same issue. COmes up wanting to convert to adobe, ok, like download, can live with that FOR NOW to get this done but when we convert to adobe, it will NOT print. Printing function goes away. We've tried saving the docs evereyway possible toprint but the vicious cycle starts all over everytime.
Oh poor adobe, where have you gone?
If you want this sale, you better provde the fix ASAP.
