MS Word Mac 2008 - How can I read a document written in a Foreign alphabet?

I have a document written in Thai language that can't be read. Just a bunch of question marks pop up in place of the Thai letters that should be there.
I have Thai fonts in my Mac in the Font Book, but they are not included in the MS Word fonts. I even tried to move the Thai fonts from the Font Book over to the "Windows Office Compatible" folder (and I did), but they still do not show up in MS Word fonts.
Is there any way to get foreign alphabets to show up in my MS documents? Thanks!!!!

How can I read a document created under "pages" on a Mac book air on an other computer or even send this document in a mail to anyone ?

Only Pages, Preview, Pages for iCloud beta, and Pages v2 or later on IOS 7 can open native Pages v5.2.2 (.pages) documents. Sending a Pages v5.2.2 document to someone without Pages v5.2.2 is futile.
If you are using Gmail or Dropbox, you will need to right-click on that Pages document, and then choose compress from the contextual menu. You can then attach filename.pages.zip, because it appears as a single document, and not a folder.
Pages v5.2.2 has a Share button on the Toolbar. Providing your document is already in iCloud storage, you can Send a Link to iCloud via the following:
The Share toolbar icon also allows you to Send a Copy to Email, Messages, and AirDrop. This will present you with the document export sheet, the same one you get if you chose to File > Export To menu item, as the alternative.
If you are sharing document content with an MS Office user, then the document you want to send them is either a Word .docx, or .doc. If they want just a read-only view of your content, send a PDF, for improved cross-platform exchange.

  • How can I read pdf documents from SD card

Is it (or will it be) possible to read pdf documents from SD card in Windows Phone 8?
    Thanks

Yes, it is possible. You can create even a folder on SD card and put in it the pdf's. It is working on my lumia 620 with Adobe reader 10.3 version.. You insert the SD in the phone, connect the phone to the computer and you will see the phone and the SD under it.
You drag your pdf's on the SD card. when you open the Adobe reader on the phone you go to the documents and here they are (with a small card icon near the document which shows you that the file is on the SD card.

Could you give the url of a site where this happens? You should have no problems reading pdfs.

  • OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and Microsoft Word: Mac 2008

I installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and am currently having troubles with Microsoft Word: Mac 2008.  I cannot type into documents that I open.  Strangely enough, I can copy into documents, but unfortunately, I can do nothing to edit open documents since I still cannot type.  I view my documents in Print Layout format.  Is there something I can do to get my Word software working again?

Try un-installing Office and then re-installing.

  • How can I combine by document on my mac and macbook

    Hi,
I have recently bought a macbook and I already have a desktop mac.  How can I combine my document on both so that I can share stuff
    THanks
    Donna

Your Macs have to be "connected" in some way. Wifi is ok but slow, an ethernet cable is faster.
Once the cable is in place, go to each Mac and enable file sharing. like this:
Go to Apple Menu / System Preferences / Sharing /  and check File Sharing. Do this on both Macs.
Next, on either Mac, type Command + k (both keys together). In the new window, click on Browse. (Only have to do this on one Mac.)
Select the other Mac, click on Connect As.
You can mount the hard drive of one Mac on the desktop of the other. Then you can drag and drop files from one to the other.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Can't read Appleworks documents

Great--I just got a new computer (minus Appleworks) How can I read .cwk documents? Are they just toast?
I just downloaded iMovie HD so I can use it in addition to iMovie 08. Can I download Appleworks to use it to open old stuff?
Is there any applications I can use? Most of my documents are word processing.

No, you can't download AppleWorks legally. You will need to purchase it. But, AppleWorks 6.2.4 & 6.2.9 run very well on all Macs running OS X, including Leopard.
Pages, part of iWork, can open AppleWorks 6 word processing documents. Also, AppleWorks 6 spreadsheets & presentations can be opened by Numbers & Keynote, the other applications in iWork '08.

  • On my Mac Pro how can I get voiceover to start reading at a specific point on a document?, on my Mac Pro how can I get voiceover to start reading at a specific point on a document?

On my Mac Pro how can I get voiceover to start reading at a specific point in a document, and then continue on to the next paragraph and so on?  Thank you.  Ed

    Welcome to the Apple family!!!!
How can I cause the VO cursor(box) show-up/start?
Press Control-Option and F5.   The F5 key is located on the top row of keys 6th key over.  This is a toggling "Keyboard Shortcut" for turning VoiceOver on and off.
How can I move the VO cursor to various sentences or paragraphs of an article and have it start reading ... and perhaps even continue reading on to the next paragraph(s) ... even to the end of the article?
How to read a website with VoiceOver
Step 1:  Go to the Website
A quick keyboard shortcut is Command-L.  This will jump you up to the address bar.  Start typing where you want to go.  i.e "www.thewebsite.com"
    Step 2:  Working with Webpage
VoiceOver will automatically start reading the website.  You can pause the speech by hitting the 'Control Button'.
If VoiceOver does not being reading the webpage, then you might have to "Interact" with it.  If VoiceOver say "HTML Content" then press Control-Option-Space-Down Arrow to interact with the webpage.
Use Control-Option-Right Arrow to move throught the website.  This will speak "EVERYTHING" on the page.
Most website that I've found have their articles labeled as 'Heading'.  You can jump from heading to heading, by pressing Control-Option-Shift-H.
If you'd like an itemized alphabetical listing of the site, press Control-Option-I
Press Control-Option-Space on the link or article you want to view.
Step 3.  Reading from Top to Bottom
Once you found and clicked on the the article/link, use the same 'Heading' command, Control-Option-Shift-H to find the title.
After finding the title, press Control-Option-A will start reading from the title on.
Note:  If there are any other items (ads, pictures, etc) it will read those too.
Tip:  You might be able to activate a feature called the 'Reader'.  The Reader isolates the article and elimanates the ads  The keyboard command is Shift-Command-R.  You can also find it in the Menu Bar (Command-Option-M) under the word 'View' then 'Show Reader'.
I am using a MACPro with OSX, probably Mavericks 10.9 (where would I look to see if that is the correct information?)
You can find this information under the 'Apple menu' in the Menu Bar.  To access the Menu Bar, press Control-Option-M.
Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac.  This will open up another window.  Use Control-Option-Right Arrow until you hear 'Version'.  If you purchased it brand new from Apple within the last six month, more than likely you have Mavericks.

The  'Commands Help' Voiceover Menu. Control-Option-H-H.  (hit H twice)  is my best friend.  It's a searchable VoiceOver Menu with most of the VoiceOver command.  Example:  You are looking for the 'Read Current Paragraph' keyboard command.   Press Control-Option-H-H and then type Paragraph.  It will then bring up all the commands with the word paragraph.  I believe there are three.
As from the Trackpad Commands, I've copied and pasted below from Appendix A: Commands and Gestures

You may get an answer here at the Mountain Lion discussion, but I'd suggest Lion folks are more likely hanging out at the Lion discussion page:

A little more info would be helpful- when did this start, ever able to send in a timely manner, etc.

  • How can I read books purchased from iBooks on my Mac?

I'm completely new to the whole Apple world and have ran across this issue.  How can I read books, that I've purchased through iBooks on my iPad or iPhone, on my Mac?  Surely this is possible, but I just can figure out how Apple intends for us to do this.
If someone could please help me out with this information I would appreciate it.

Or I can just purchase them from a competitor such as Kindle and read them on my Mac
Sure seems short sighted on Apple's part not to have this functionality.  This will drive my purchasing decisions to Kindle.
I'm sure that there has been plenty of negative feedback already directed to Apple for this decision.  Does anyone know whether or not they have listened and if they have any plans to correct this issue?

how can I read Ibooks books on my mac?

I work in a high tech company (not in IT) and as a sideline I fix close friends and family's PCs and Macs, usually remotely over Logmein.  The reason I switched to Macs over the past  four years is that most of my friends and family that have switched from PCs to Macs require little or no support.  So I am an Apple fan boy by my experiences and not just for the sake of being a fan.  It just makes practical sense.
Which leads me to the point.  I am also an Apple stock holder.  So I prefer to buy a book on the Apple Store rather than the Amazon store even though I realize my recent purchase of an iBook at $13.99 is of no consequence to Apple's bottom line.
In that light, I would of course like to be able to read my iBooks on my MacBook Air or the PCs and Macs I use at work.
    It just makes practical sense.
