MS Word to TIFF

Hi all,
I want to convert MS Word document into
TIFF format (TIFF type 3 or 4).
How to do it?
Thanks,
Bala

If this is a one off, or for a limited number of documents, you might want to consider a non-Java solution. Given MS's proprietory formats you could find it a bit of a nightmare.
If a non-Java solution is Ok, then look for a windows printer driver that allows you to print to a TIFF file instead of to a printer.
This Google search seems to produce some possibilities:

  • Need for iPad/PC/Mac networking at hospitals-

    Need for networking at hospitals…
    Our doctor (plus an IT guy for the hospital) is the go-to guy for the MDs that use Island hospital and want to review test results and documentation on each patient on the network. All imaging systems are now digital and are available minutes after testing is completed. Each nurse station documents patient status every hour.
    They currently can review any document on a PC networked with hospital; however, they cannot access the network on their iPads. Turns out most of the doctors have Mac iPads and they enjoy the smallness compared to carrying a laptop, and would love to use the iPad (for record access) when going to the patients room.
    He said that the hospital will convert to a more “Mac Friendly” system this year, however I really don’t think it will solve their issues.  (see below).
    Our Doctor said that they wanted a better way to review records but the iOS in the iPad does not allow direct access/networking. Here is what I found out for him and would appreciate any ideas to improve on the approach.
    My only known share/link between iPad, PC and/or Mac desktop
    To Share Word, PDF, tiff, and jpg files, I use Drop Box application for iPad, PC and Mac. I Install Drop Box on each device via opening a free account with “Drop Box.” An email address and a pass-word is used for each device. ((note: the email must be verified when prompted after setting up the email account.))
    Use wireless links. Any file to be accessed from an iPad must be placed (drag and drop) into Drop Box on one of the “linked” computers.
    Each device sets up a Share/Link to other computer email addresses but email is not the method of sharing it just forms the basis for ID. I had no trouble setting up an iPad 2, PC-windows 7, and two Macs with OS 10.6.8.
    Within Drop Box, you can Set up sub-folders to share documents and other computers and iPads will only see the subfolder they want to access. Any time you drag and drop a file in the folder it immediately shows up within seconds in all computers with the sub-folder name. If it is deleted from a folder on any device it is automatically deleted from all computers with that shared sub-folder name, and a linked email address
    HELPFUL APPS ON IPAD if PDF files and Word files are used.
    PDF2 Office, Bookshelf, Dropbox, iCloud mail, Pages… All but Bookshelf allows quick transfer to Dropbox; however if more interested in reading a document on a PC, this doesn’t really help. Real benefit of the this transfer is to share iPad info with PC or Mac.

    I suspect a lot of hospitals are doing this.
    Could you give a more detail description of how things work on a PC Laptop?
    Is the data on a network share?
    How does the data get to the PC?
    How is the data accessed on the PC?
    Is there an all in one program running on the pc to access the data?
    Done in a web browser?  IE?
    Windows File server access.  Get permission to check out what servers are around. See what the data looks like.

  • Black lines through .pdf images

    I'm using Word 2007 and Adobe Pro X.  The figures I insert into my Word file are .pdf's that have been converted to .tiff or .png files.  When I create a .pdf directly from my Word file, my figures end up with thick black lines running through them.  If I just go to file > print > Adobe pdf, then my images print fine.  The only problem with that though is my Table of Contents isn't automatically bookmarked.  Any ideas why my figures are messed up when creating my .pdf directly from Word?  Any solutions?

    Hi ,
    Bookmarking is not a feature for Printing a file by Adobe printer , it  just produces a flat PDF ,so you wont get bookmarks through that route.
    I didn't quite get your issue . Are the images inserted into your word file .tiff and .png or any other format ?  Can you please share a word file which contains such images ?
    Thanks,

  • MBA 11" vs. 13" for low to moderate intensity user

    I'm looking to transition from my 2008 15" MBP to something a little more portable. My partner and I share a 27" iMac at home that has way more power and storage space than we need, and it serves as our primary computer.
    I am having a hard time deciding between an 11" 1.6GHz/4GB RAM/128GB vs. 13" 1.86GHz/4GB RAM/128GB. I've played with both sizes in the Apple store, though I don't believe they are the same configurations as I've listed above. Both screen sizes work for me. As far as applications most used on my laptop: Powerpoint, Word, maybe some Excel, EndNote, Mail, and Internet browsing. As far as Itunes, I have about 1.6GB of songs and 25GB of Movies/TV series that I may transfer selectively to the new MBA, depending on whether space permits. Other than that, I have < 3GB of files (powerpoint, word, jpeg/tiffs and pdf). I will not be using my MBA for personal photos on iPhoto. I also don't play any video games. Honestly, I've only used maybe 5GB of storage space in my old Macbook Pro (the >200 GB of storage space was a bit of overkill, just like my home iMac), and I find that maybe I purchased a laptop that was too powerful for my regular use.
    I'm wondering if the 11" MBA with 1.6 GHz and 4GB will be fast enough, or will I notice a considerable slowdown compared to my old 2008 Macbook Pro (2.4 GHz core 2 duo, 2GB RAM)? The other consideration is how much advantage will the 13" 1.86 GHz processor give me over the 11" 1.6 GHz processor for the type of programs I use? I forgot to mention that I won't be using the Mac Office 2011 as I still have my Mac Office 2008, and it has been more than adequate for me so I hope it's compatible with the new MBA. I realize the question of 11" v. 13" MBA per my specs is a call between two identical computers except for a difference in screen size (which is not a factor for me) and the processor speed.
    Thanks much in advance.

    I have a maxed out 15" MPB as my main computer and was looking for something that was a lot more portable. (Funny how our perceptions of portability change.) I wound up going with the 11.6" with 4GB RAM and iWork as my only upgrades (already had Office for Mac).
    I am really amazed at how capable this little computer is. It is very responsive, has good keyboard feel and as-advertised real world battery life (if not a little better).
    When it comes to memory, I just did not see a big difference between the 64 and 128. Neither can handle my 150-160GB lossless music library, so I wound up springing for the 500GB iOmega eGo Helium for <$100. Super light unit that matches the MBA's appearance with than enough capacity for music, videos and data when I am on the ground. Coupled with the M2Tech HiFace interface providing jitter-reduced bitstream from USB to digital co-ax, it makes for a high quality, small footprint music-server when connected to an external DAC.
    I am thoroughly satisfied after using this for a month now. Based on my experience with the 11" I could see the base 13" (with extra RAM) as a **** near perfect everyday computer for my needs. There really is no need to hot-rod these for the vast majority of users. BTW, the trade off between smaller form factor and not having a built in optical drive is a no brainer.

  • Doubts In SSRS

    Hai All,
    Please Give  Me Solution If You Know The answer.
    Description:
    How to Display Report in different Formats Like Tab delimited (Tab), If Reports Doesn't Contain This Format In Built,
    Casually we have Word, Excel, Tiff, Pdf , Csv  these types of formats . So If we want to display Another Format How To Do It.
    Please Give Me solutions.

    Hi Shanthi,
    Per my understanding that you want add some extra rendering extention like "Tab delimited (Tab)", right?
    In your scenario, you could custom a render extension in rsreportserver.config (default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<instance name>\Reporting Services\ReportServer) file using the code below:
    <Extension Name="Tabs" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
    <OverrideNames>
    <Name Language="en-US">Tab-delimited</Name>
    </OverrideNames>
    <Configuration>
    <DeviceInfo>
    <OutputFormat>TXT</OutputFormat>
    <Encoding>ASCII</Encoding>
    <FieldDelimiter>
    </FieldDelimiter>
    <!-- or as this -->
    <!-- <FieldDelimiter xml:space="preserve">[TAB]</FieldDelimiter> -->
    <FileExtension>txt</FileExtension>
    </DeviceInfo>
    </Configuration>
    </Extension>
    After the modification, please restart the reporting services instance and you will find the custom rendering extension "Tab delimited (Tab)" have added in the report server(This will not find in the visual studio or other designer)
    For more step by step  information, please refer to this article: Export Tab Delimited text file in SSRS 2008 R2
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Why do the colors in images embedded in word (TIFF/JPEG) export off-color from Acrobat?

    I chose this forum as opposed to the printing and pre-press forum because I have a very limited existing knowledge of color space and profile matching and I didn't want to be (1) shunned and (2) overwhelmed by the level of technical detail.
    When I attempt to PDF a word document that contains a TIFF image, the TIFF image appears SIGNIFICANTLY off color.  I was able to substantially correct the problem by extracting the TIFF image within the Word document and resaving it as a JPEG, but it still isn't 100%.
    Here's what I know:
    I'm using Windows 7; Word 2010; and Acrobat X.  I also have Photoshop CS5.1 and InDesign CS4.
    My color SETTINGS are matched in each application to be tied to my monitor, and my monitor is set to the system default, which is a system default: :sRGBIEC61966-2.1"
    I'm using the document for professional purposes, so color matching is important to me, but I'm working with what is available to me at a nonprofit, so that means an Acer X183h monitor and a Canon iR C5185 networked office printer and no real color management policy or equipment.
    I'm looking for the best possible solution to maintain color performance between the monitor and the printer.

    Incredibly as I posted this the solution came to me - I leave it to the moderators to determine whether this should be preserved or deleted.  I wasn't able to find any help on this and it might be valuable to other users.
    The image itself that was embedded in the Word Document had a CMYK color profile. It was displaying appropriately in the software, but wouldn't convert to PDF or print. I opened the source file in Photoshop and converted it to my working profile, then re-added it to the word document and it is now reliably reproducing in the right color.
    Since dropping outside images into word is a common (if also poor) work process for people creating documents in the nonprofit sector, I think this kind of information could be valuable in the knowlegebase.

  • Converting Word Files n Excel Files To TIFF images using java

    Can u plzz help me in finding out code for Conversion of word, excel files to TIFF..as soon as possible...i hope vl find some help from u people.
    Thankx n Regards
    Mr.Reddy

    MS keeps their formats secure, it's how they make money.
    There was a project from Apache (sub-group anyway), that was doing some work on it, but documentation and results were very flaky.
    However, TIFF has a format that people can use. Search the web for the format, get the details on the byte structure, then simply apply.
    Now, to convert between text to image, you'd need a rendering engine that figures out how it would look on-screen, then take the resulting graphics context data and convert it into the TIFF format.

  • Converting TIFF to Word Document

    I've just switched to Mac and I'm wondering how I can convert TIFF files into word documents.
    Previously, when using my PC, I was able to do so by using the document imaging program found in the microsoft office tools.

    TIFF is an image format. Preview should be able to convert the file to a JPEG or a similar file. If you want it as a Word document, the way to do that is to open the file then copy the image and paste it into a Word document or import it into a new Word document, then save.

  • Tracking placed files (jpeg,tiff,word,PDF,excel)

    It was recommended to ask this here vs bridge - not much luck in bridge. The situation: i have multiple sources sending a variety of files (jpeg,tiff,word,PDF,and excel). As the book is designed many of them will be placed. As long as the sources update with the same name im good. However, they will inevitably send me batches of files containing new files - how can I track what has been placed and what hasn't. I will have multiple folders to organize the chaos. One thing bridge helped with: keyword. I can quite easily assign a placed keyword in bridge, filter using that word and im done. Except for word and excel - metadata doesn't take. Someone explained this to me.
    The sources are out of country, so i have to track this. Bridge takes care of 90%. Perhaps someone has dealt with this. Again, if someone adds a new photo without calling it out, keyword work. Its the Microsoft documents that get tricky. In advance, i appreciate our time.

    Start by creating an Item type of OLE container. Set the following properties:
    - OLE Tenant Types: Embedded
    - Database Item: Yes
    Make that item the last item in the block.
    Create a push button such as 'Insert Document' with similar code:
    DECLARE
      vcFile VARCHAR2(1024);
    BEGIN
      vcFile := win_api_dialog.Open_File('Select Document File to Insert',NULL,'MS-Word files (*.doc)|*.doc|'||

  • Color Handling when saving Word document as PDF, containing CMYK TIFF image?

    What is the proper procedure for creating PDFs from Word documents that contain a CMYK TIFF image? I have created a company logo by exporting an AI file with Pantone colors as a TIFF (with a CMYK color profile, since there is the intention of printing). Since it is a logo, color consistency is important and the utmost priority. I will be needing to insert this file into a Word document that will then be converted into a PDF.
    I've read somewhere that Word automatically converts images to RGB, and also have come across potential problems of colors being changed in the final PDF through unmanaged color handling and conversions. I figured instead of running around in circles trying to find the best solution, I'd post on here. Is this procedure possible? What is the best way to do this without changing my original color profile or CMYK values of the logo being used?
    This PDF has the intention of being placed online for offices to print/publish.
    Thanks!

    Though actually, let's take a step back -- why do you want to use CMYK? Most offices won't be using PostScript printers, so the CMYK will be converted to RGB for printing. For publishing - do you know the required CMYK profile to use for all possible publishing scenarios? Properly tagged RGB is generally considered the way to deal with this in modern workflows not targeted at a specific press. But still probably not with Word!

  • CS2 Tiff files crashing my word processor

    I recently upgraded my Photoshop 7 to Photoshop CS2. I've been saving 1 bit line art tiff files for years with Photoshop 7 and there has never been this issue. When I save 1 bit TIF files with CS2, it crashes my word processing software. I'm saving it with all the same settings I used to save them with from v7. Is there some setting I'm missing that can fix this problem? I'm saving my files with the following settings
    1 bit 300 dpi
    LZW compression
    Pixel Order - Interleaved
    Byte - IBM PC
    With the exception of the 'pixel order' setting, all the other settings are exactly the same. v7 doesn't appear to have that pixel order selection. I have tried many different combinations of these selections without success. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
    My word processor is Arbortext Epic Editor Version 4.1.

    Hi Chris. Thanks for responding.
    I'm not with the I.T. department here at work. The reason I now have CS2 is because the version 7 disc somehow sprouted legs and walked away. (eyeroll) My computer required a reformat and because I wanted Photoshop reinstalled, the I.T. department installed a valid CS2 disc that was sitting on their shelf.
    That being said, I'm certain that the bug really lies with BOTH my word processor AND Photoshop CS2. That's why I was hoping someone here might be able to come up with a reason why one version of Photoshop WILL save a file that's usable while another version won't. If the newer version is saving some extra bit of information in the TIF file, what is it and can I possibly get rid of it somehow.
    Alternatively, I would need to get my hands on Version 7 somehow. I shudder to upgrade to the lastest version of Photoshop since I worry the problem will still be an issue.
    Or, if anyone knows a way to get a 1 bit TIF file out of Adobe Illustrator, that would work too (but I'm quite certain that's impossible)

  • Converting tiff images to word documents

    does mac offer any programs like microsoft office document imaging which enables you to scan docs as tifs and convert them to word?

    Microsoft would have to offer a TIFF importer within Microsoft Word for its documents.  If your issue is loading Word documents within TextEdit, yes, that editor does not support images.  You are better off if you don't want to use Microsoft Word itself, to use NeoOffice or iWork's Pages if you want to incorporate images in Word documents.
    P.S. Mac is the name of the operating system, and the computers that run the operating system by Apple Inc. So questioning "Does Mac..." doesn't make any more sense than asking "Does Experion..."

  • IPhoto '08, Microsoft Word 2004 and an error: QuickTime and TIFF

    Hi,
    When I drag and drop photos from iPhoto into Word, I get the following error:
    QuickTime and a TIFF (decompressor) are required to see the picture.
    The image is placemarked with a black border with the error message in the center. iPhoto indicates that the picture is JPEG. I have also discovered that dragging the picture to the desktop and then into Word works fine.
    I checked the console log and found the following:

    Any help would be appreciated. This seems to be a new problem, as I was able to drag+drop from iPhoto '08 into Word after upgrading to '08. I do not recall when the problem began.
    Thanks!

    Hi
    This sounds like a problem that's been discussed many times. If you use the Search button (select more options) and change the 'Restrict by Date Range' to something like 'Last Year' you should find something? You might want to read these:

    I think Office 2008 is supposed to have made things better?

  • I'm trying to convert my Pages docs to Word docs, but they keep unzipping in Preview as tiffs instead of pdf. What is going on?

    I only have MS Word due to work, so I don't have Pages on my new Airbook (my old Powerbook had Pages, and that's where I created most of these documents), and would prefer not to have to install it if at all avoidable. Thanks.
    Teri

    You can get to the pdf preview inside the Pages document without Pages, but it's a liitle involved. It might be better to try on a copy so you'll have the original to fall back on.
    1. In the Finder, rename the Pages file to add ".zip" to the end (somedoc.pages should be renamed to somedoc.pages.zip).
    2. Double click the renamed file. The finder will unzip it and produce a second file with the original name.
    3. Right click (or Control click) on the new file and select Show Package Contents. A new Finder window will open
    4. You'll see a couple files and a Quicklook folder. Inside the Quicklook folder is a file named Preview.pdf; that is the pdf version, which can be opened in Preview. You can copy the text (without its formatting) and maybe some of the images, which should at least help with reconstructing the document in Word.

  • Oracle UCM/ Large tiff/ Dynamic Word Viewer

    Hi,
    We have a situation here...
    We are using Oracle UCM 10gR3. We have large tiffs(>10mb = 1000page tiffs) and we have dynamic microsoft documents. What would be the best document viewer to see these kind of documents?
    Is there any viewer comes with INSO drivers plugin to see dynamic MS office documents?
    Early reply is very helpful to me and it is greatly appreciated friends...
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    I guess, during installation, you have provided as 127.0.0.1. Do you have entry in host file like (127.0.0.1 localhost).
    Try by giving host name or IP address for HttpServerAddress in configuration file.
