MS8606
Built A MSI Mega PC and installed the optional TV Tuner Card (MS 8606). The drivers have loaded on ok and the card is working, however the is software which is suppossed to be on the installation disc which I cannot load. I cannot find MSI PVS 2.0 nor can I find MSI Media Centre Deluxe II. Help please, what am I doing wrong? Using Windows XP Professional.
The receiver connects via USB. I can open powercinema and navigate through the menu but it is when i select tv it gets all messed up. The volume buttons are what change the channel, the pictures button is mute, power button, the number keys and close button work fine and that is jus about all the buttons that work. The option to use the remote as the mouse works fine also but that is a bit slow and jerky.
Any ideas?

MS8606 TV@nywhere Master PROBLEM!
I need to fix this.. so please, someone, help... give me some advice
There is a problem when switching channels on the TV@nywhere Master. After a few switched channels the computer hangs and the only way to "continue" working is to reset the computer... I think it has somethnig to do with the sound cause computer hangs mostly on the channels that have a diffrernet sound then mono...
and the comp is

MS8606 TV@nywhere Master
You see... if the computer is mine I would open it and smash the TV@nywhere Master with a hammer in a thousand pieces... but it is a comp. of my girlfiend and concidering what it is really it is so stupid that she can not watch the TV...
Give me some advice...
p.s. i have tried with the "new" drivers...HI Guy's
I recently got a MSI MS8606 TV@nywhere Master and had the same problem as the guy's above with MSN messager sound and tv channels ect and It's seems that these problems I know it sounds crazy but if you have Power DVD 4 or older than uninstall that first then load up your MSI software using the latest apps and drivers on the MSI site and not the stuff on the CD ecexpt for MSI radio which works better than the latest one and All should be fine
and oh Hyperthreading works just fine! if you haven't noticed than when you turn off Hyperthreading the CPU temp goes up by 4 to 5 C and YES PowerDVD 5 works but load that up after the MSI software.
Hope that helps -
I've had a MEGA PC 180 for some time now. I coupled it with a MS8606-40 MEGA TV card when I built it. At first the system worked perfectly, but after a Windows re-install and following the same procedure it its completely useless.
When I ask MSI Media Centre to perform an autoscan it just goes through all the channels showing only blue and nothing more.
Is the card broken or is there something I'm missing. Which drivers should I be using?
Thanks.https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5347392

[TV@Master] MS8606 can't find Source : Cable
Hello,
I can't select source in MMCD III ( MSI Media center deluxe III)
http://images.partypeeps2000.com/image.aspx?mKMhudS0KFpGPO%2bldLcoDvLjO16YmyftaiG4gKUKsXA%3d
I have a msi tv card MS-8606. I have this for 2 years now..It NEVER WORKED. I have contacted msi support 'The Netherlanths' and ('US' recently) and they send me 2 different drivers (1 beta 1 official,) 3 MSIVPS ( 1 official, 2 beta 1 with freescan) and a program (dScaler). I have tried them all, in different combinations. The msi-support told me in my region, AMSTERDAM, many people have problems with this card. They told me 2 return the card and they would return my money. I never did that, I told them within a year I would call back 4 new drivers.
The beta drivers from them I used:
Driver v2.79.1.72 [Beta]-------
The Freescan MSIVPS:
MSIPVS_[022304FreeScan]_[156MB]
Now
I downloaded the new MMCD III and the drivers on this page :
MMCD III (standard) - http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=546&kind=4
Drivers - http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=10 :
Support model TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606)
Description • MSI 8606 WDM TV Tuner Driver
• WHQL pass.
• Ver: 2.79.1.65
This still ain't working. I contacted MSI USA they told me let me check the tech forum.
I saw this topic:

for MS 8606------------------------------------------
Now I downloaded the sticky driver, I re-installed windows(on c:), Updated windows (not sp2), used the driver in combination with the new MMCD III. I still can't select Cable as a source.
dScaler
This program is working with the sticky driver. It found all chanels. But I don't hear any sound.
Can somebody please help?
Thnx

TV CARD: MSI MS-8606
Installed driver - Sticky driver
Installed Software - MMCD III and Dscaler
OS: Windows XP SP1 With all updates (not SP2)Yep, 3 days ago I installed windows but it installed on f: because of the smartcard readers (mega pc 180)...So I reinstalled everything even windows; now windows is on C: ...I followed the procedure...and I installed clean.
But I can't understand that Dscaler is just working fine except 4 the sound. I think the problem is MMCD III and MSIPVIS because:
1. Dscaler is working
2. 3 days ago when I saw the card wasn't working good. I installed my Pinnacle card on the pc. The card worked fine with it own programs but with MMCD III it didn't work, but I was able to select as source Cable.
And the only reason I bought this computer was because the remote control...And now I can't even use it. -
MSI TV-Tuner (MS8606) & MEGA PC
Hi,
A month ago I bought my MEGA651 with all availiable options, so that includes a TV-tuner (the box says it's specially made for MEGA PC Barebones). When I installed that one, my PC didn't start. It did however start when I lifted the card just a littlebit out of the PCI slot. But then in windows, it didn't work correct. So I send it back and I got a new one.
Now I have installed a new one, but when I power on my PC, all I hear is a long "BEEP" (about 5 sec.) Then a pause, and again a 5 sec. beep. So my MEGA PC doesn't start.. again.
What could be the problem?? It isn't my PCI-bus, because other cards DO work!
Thanks!I just recieved the Mega 651 and put in the Intel 4 processor that the dealer said would work (Intel Pentium 4 Socket 478 FC-PGA2 512K and 533MHz Front Side Bus speed 2.28GHz) Installed a single strip of RAM called "Ram on Third" that dealer siad would work (DDR333 PC2700 64X64/32X8 333MHz 184 pin Unbuffer Memory 512MB) and all I get is a long beep. I would really like to know what is wrong ?????

MS8606 TV@nywhere Master Shutsdown
Just recently my MSIPVS InterVideo program began shutting down as I would change cable channels. I would scan up the channels to 31 and the program would shutdown. I'd restart the program and scan down to channel 31 and it would shutdown again. I've reinstalled the program but still have the same result. What might be the problem?
Thanks to ALL those with replies for assistance.i think the least MSI could do is take these working BETA drivers and make them official.
hey maybe they could even update these and make them better! -
MSI TV@nywhere MASTER PCI TV Tuner card FAQ
So you’ve just decided to add a MSI TV@nywhere Master card to your PC, you’re gonna need some help installing it then!! Before you continue, I recommend you download the Unofficial New Drivers in the other sticky, to avoid any heart (and brain!) ache.
For best results also, you should be running at least DirectX 8.1. This is included on the driver CD, or you can download the latest version from Microsoft's DirectX Page. If you have a P4 which supports Hyperthreading, you will also need at least Windows XP SP2, otherwise you will have to disable hyperthreading in BIOS.
You should also be in the habit of having the latest drivers for your video card, audio card and motherboard chipset; this can also avoid any future TV software failure. And make sure you regularly run Windows Update (or use the Automatic Update feature) to keep your Windows clean and up-to-date. And also remember when installing new drivers or software, if the installer suggests you restart the computer then do so, before you install anything else! Drivers not installing correctly are common causes of problems, especially with this card!
INSTALLING THE HARDWARE
I’m presuming you’re familiar with the concepts of building and upgrading PCs, so I won’t go into too much detail on obvious stuff (like “remove the side panel of your case, locate a free PCI slot…”).
Fit the TV@nywhere Master card into a free PCI slot. If you didn’t get one with it, you’ll need a CD-audio lead from somewhere (the thin grey lead). If you have one connected between your CD drive and your soundcard CD-Audio In connector, then use that, any version of Windows after 98 supports digital audio extraction, so it is not needed there now. Connect one end of the audio lead to the 4 pin header on the TV@nywhere card and the other to the AUX input on your soundcard (or motherboard if using onboard). If you are installing the Mega TV Tuner in a Mega series barebones, connect it to the TV audio input on the mainboard to the rear. Don’t worry about using the 3.5mm jack plug lead to connect tv card audio, we don’t need it now, doing it this way.
CONNECTING YOUR TV SIGNAL
Depending on your global location, this may vary. Either way you need to connect either a aerial (ANTENNA) or cable (CABLE) to the CATV connector on the card. Someone will no doubt clarify this for me, but cable is for US-type cable, which doesn’t need a decoder box. Most people will be using the Antenna I’m guessing. Your choice of CABLE or ANTENNA needs to be remembered, you’ll need this later.
You will not be able (or have limited success) in connecting a video recorder or set-top box to the CATV connector. Instead you will need to use the Composite or S-Video connector, and connect the audio source either directly to the soundcard or to the Line-in on the TV card.
INSTALLING THE DRIVER
Don’t use the driver on the CD. Download the latest driver from the MSI download page. If you are a Mega series user, make sure that Windows has been installed onto the C: drive. If not you’ll have to reinstall, and disable the USB controller in BIOS to prevent the card readers becoming the C: and D: drives. This also causes problems later.
I would advise temporarily disabling any anti-virus programs at this point, to avoid any complications.
When you start up after first installing the card, cancel any Found New Hardware wizards that appear. OK, so extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP, and run the PVSSetup.exe file to install the drivers. Once this is complete, RESTART your PC and the drivers will be installed for the new hardware found.
Check in Device Manager, there should be four new hardware listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers related to MS8606. If you see any with the (?) next to them, you might need to try the card in another slot.
INSTALLING THE MSIPVS TV SOFTWARE
If you wish to use other TV recording software other than MSIPVS then please feel free to do so.
MSI do not make their own software. At least not all the time. MSIPVS is a rebranded version of Intervideo’s WinDVR software, with extra features added such as network streaming for TV@nywhere. Some people love it. Lots of people hate it. Generally most people who have posted here hate it. People who love it tend not to post if they don't have problems. The people that hate it generally mess initial settings up, which can cause problems when they try to change it. The more patient of us will always get it eventually right!
Install the MSIPVS software. Easy as that. Its setting it up correctly that’s the tricky part. Listed below are the main things to look for when performing initial setup. If you are unsure about anything else then read the manual! Only a complete genius would dare install any unfamiliar hardware without having the manual handy for reference - how do you suppose I learnt anything?
Device
Video Input:
"Device" is always the Conexant Cx2388x Video Capture"
"Source" - select TV if you are connecting your signal to the CATV connector (antenna or cable), select S-Video or Composite if using these instead
"Standard" - set this to your local TV standard, eg if in UK set to "PAL-I". if unsure, do a Google search and find out!!
If you don't set these correctly you won't receive any channels and/or they will appear incorrectly.
Audio Input:
"Device" will be your soundcard or onboard audio device
"Source" will be the connector your TV card audio output is connected to, this will be "TV" on Mega series, otherwise check!! If you connected the internal lead to AUX on your soundcard or mobo, then set it to "AUX". If you used external lead to connect to Line-In, this will be "Line-in" etc etc.
If you don't set these correctly you may or may not hear audio while watching live TV, and you will hear no audio on recorded TV.
TV
Tuner:
"Input" will be Antenna if you have an aerial connected, or Cable if you are connected to unencoded cable TV.
"Country or Region" - if need to explain this one then maybe you shouldn't have this card!
Channel
Now we will see if your settings and TV signal are good! Tick the Freescan box, and then click on Autoscan. This may take a while, and for a short time it may appear that the program is doing nothing. Patience! It will soon start, and then pick up any available channels it can find.
Make sure you have a good strong signal if you are using an aerial, otherwise TV@nywhere won’t pick up as many channels. UK viewers – just using a simple set-top aerial and signal booster, I could even receive Channel Five (or “five” as it is known now!)
So at this point now, if all has gone well, you should be able to watch and record TV on your PC! If it hasn't..."I've lost my CDs and MSIPVS needs a serial number to install!"
MSI in their wisdom printed the serial key for MSIPVS on the actual CD. This serial key is the same printed on EVERY CD. Which kind of defeats the object in my humble opinion. Anyways, the answer can be found in this post: MSIPVS requires serial number!
"When installing MSIPVS, the program hangs then shows a message saying "remote procedure call failed" "
If you are a Mega user, you have installed Windows onto a partition other than C:. You will need to reinstall Windows, making sure you disable USB controller in BIOS, so that the card readers do not take up C: and D: drives. Upon first restart (after Windows has created partition), you may re-enter BIOS and enable USB controller before Windows continues installing itself.
"MSIPVS installs, but when I start the application I get an error message "WinDVR has caused a problem and needs to shutdown" "
hpkuo credits this to sizzle in his hints and tips thread, but I'll elaborate a little. The problem is caused by QuickTime codecs installed by Nero 6.3.1.15. It is unclear whether later versions of Nero were fixed, but earlier versions should be okay. "A "quick fix" is to rename the files "NeQTADec.ax" and "NeQTVDec.ax" in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\"."
Another alternative suggestion is to uninstall the codecs from the registry. I found this solution in another forum for another TV card with same problem:
Go to Start > Run (or press Windows key + R) and enter:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTADec.ax"
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTVDec.ax"
The only consequence seems to be that Nero Vision can’t decode Apple Quick time format after this (something I can live with)
If you do require QuickTime codecs to be installed, there is the Quicktime alternative available from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm . Or you could just use an earlier version of Nero.
PS if you are using a non-english setup of Windows, then the above paths will relate to how windows translates on your PC - ie subsitute Program Files etc for your local translation
"I have connected the external audio lead to the Line-In (blue) jack on my mobo, and set it correctly in MSIPVS, but I hear no TV sound"
If your mobo supports 5.1 speakers but only has three jacks on rear, the Line-in and Mic jacks have been configured to act as Rear Speaker and Center/Sub outputs. If you have only two speakers, they should be connected to the green Front Speaker jack. You will need to go into your audio hardware's configuration panel / Windows Audio Device Properties to correctly configure the rear jacks.
The other alternative is to use the internal audio connector - simply use a CD-audio lead to connect it to the AUX or CD internal connector on your mobo or soundcard. CD audio leads (the analog grey lead from your CD drive to the soundcard / mobo CD audio connector) are redundant now, as Windows now uses digital audio extraction through IDE channel. Make sure you set the audio signal correctly in MSIPVS to match this.
"When I start up Windows I can hear a hissing like "static" / the radio is playing"
One issue that was fixed in the latest Drivers; if that still doesn't work then the Radio volume is not muted at Windows startup. I'll let hschroed take over here:
"Both MSI Radio and MSI PVS, unmute the TV card at program start, and mute the TV card at SUCCESSFUL program exit (remember we are not talking about the soundcard mixer state here). What this means is as long as a single program start and a single SUCCESSFUL program exit takes place, the TV card tuner will be muted, regardless of what the soundcard mixer audio source states are. If the PC is rebooted (without a PC power-off), for whatever reason, while the MSI Radio or MSI PVS program is executing (a successful exit has not been performed), the TV card will remain in an unmuted state until the next startup and successful exit of either of the two programs.
The TV card mute/unmute status is carried over a reboot without PC power off. What this means is that after a PC power on, once the TV card has been properly muted by a start and successful exit of the MSI program, the TV card mute/unmute status should be in proper synchronization with the applications (regardless of the soundcard mixer status), as long as the PC is not powered off. (Romulus mentions computer coming out of standby. I did not test that scenario but I would expect that if going into standby means power is stopped to TV card, the effect would be similar to a PC power off)."
"My regular TV receives all 5 channels (even Channel Five!), but when I connect aerial to TV@nywhere I only get 3"
Common to all TV tuner hardware (not just MSI's!) is the need for a good strong signal. A moderate signal might appear okay on a regular domestic TV, but might not be strong enough for the TV tuner hardware. Consider investing in a good signal booster, or getting your aerial changed.
Consequently, I have also learned today that TOO strong a signal is bad for TV tuner cards, as soon as I know more I'll let you know...
"I have connected my VCR to the CATV connector, but it does not appear when autoscanning."
"I cannot receive any channels when I connect my Sky box to the RF (CATV) connector."
Thanks to a wonderful technology called "Macrovision" protection, many VCRs and satellite/cable boxes won't work in this way by connecting them using their RF output. Anyone who gets a result is very lucky. There's always the Composite and S-Video In connectors to try. But either way, the TV@nywhere card won't scan all their channels, you'll still have to change them manually.
"Windows XP Media Center says that my "tuner hardware is malfunctioning or not installed" but I have installed the latest TV@nywhere drivers from MSI"
Neither the Vox or the TV@nywhere cards are compatible with MCE2005. MCE2005 requires an analogue TV card capable of hardware MPEG2 encoding, or a software DVB-T (digital) card that already receives an MPEG2 video stream over-the-air.
You can however still use the Vox or the TV@nywhere using the MSIPVS software outside of the MCE2005 application.
"MSIPVS keeps defaulting my location back to Afghanistan, even though I set it to US / UK/ Sweden / Latvia / Kazahkstan"
You will need to reinstall the drivers and software due to a glitch. Uninstall MSIPVS and the tuner drivers (with its PVSSetup.exe setup program) then restart your PC, and ignore the Found New Hardware wizard. Install the tuner drivers with the PVSSetup.exe program, then restart your PC. Then install MSIPVS, restart your PC and you're good to go again!
"Where can I find these "Unofficial New Drivers" that people keep referring to here?"
The "Unofficial New (BETA) Drivers" became obsolete when MSI officially released them. You can find them on the Product Support page for this card, as they are now the latest drivers. MSI TV@nywhere Master product page

Things to know before building a Mega 651 (and other things you should know afte
Okay, following hot on the heels of the "things to know" series on Mega 180 and 865, I thought I'd just chip in with this short post on what you should know before splashing out on a nice budget Mega 651
PROCESSOR SUPPORT:
The official list of supported CPUs can be found here:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/slim_pc/slm/pro_slm_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=431&kind=4
Basically the ageing SiS651 chipset does not support Celeron / P4 cpus above 533mhz, and does NOT support the newer "Prescott" core cpus
Celeron > 400Mhz FSB
P4 Northwood > 533mhz FSB (512kb L2 cache)
MEMORY:
Basically to add to what is listed in the 865 "things to know"; from my own experience of using MSI motherboards in the past, ALWAYS use good quality branded memory, as using cheaper "generic" types inevitably leads to major problems. I know for a fact that Crucial, Kingston and Samsung types work well in MSI motherboards, and you should be okay with other high-end brands like Corsair and Geil.
DRIVERS:
DON'T bother using MSI LiveUpdate! The drivers provided on the cd supplied will work, but if you wish to download the latest drivers, you will find them here:
http://download.sis.com/
Download and install the:
Chipset Software > SiS AGP (Gart) Driver
IGP Graphics Drivers > SiS650 and 740 series
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True
for Realtek AC97 Audio drivers
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?lineid=1&famid=3&series=16&Software=True
For Realtek Onboard Network interface
The modem drivers supplied on the CD should work, I really don't know much about them as I have never used them (sorry). Failing that, if you are connected to the internet, Windows Update should be able to find them for you.
OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORT
MSI state that only Windows XP is supported on Mega 651 (and other Mega barebones). Other versions of Windows (98, ME, 2000) will work provided you have drivers for hardware devices, all of which are provided on the install CD or from the links supplied above.
You'll find that earlier versions of Windows won't have the drivers for the built-in card reader, so you may have to do a "google" search to get them. On my Mega 651, they are listed in Device Manager as "OEI-USB" devices.
If you haven't already got Windows XP then I suggest you consider upgrading at the earliest opportunity; Microsoft themselves no longer support Win 98 / ME and most new software is being designed to work only with Windows XP
Please note that MSI do NOT supply or support drivers for Linux; if you wish to attempt to install Linux on a Mega 651 (or other Mega PC model) you will need to obtain drivers yourself. The remote and LCD display functions will also not be available under Linux, unless some clever bod has developed drivers to do so.
MEGA RADIO AND LCD DISPLAY:
Download the Mega LiveUpdate for Mega 651 from here:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_detail.php?UID=431&kind=4
This will update your MEGA Radio program, update the BlueBird HIFi module firmware and allow you to set a "greeting" displayed on the LCD display when you switch on HiFi mode. Apart from that the LCD display serves NO other purpose in PC mode.
After updating the firmware, you should power off your Mega 651, unplug the mains power cord for a few seconds then reconnect and restart for changes to take place.
OTHER MSI SOFTWARE:
If you REALLY must try out MSI Media Center III, it does work on the Mega 651, but I don't think the remote will work correctly.
Although PCAlert 4 has been reported to work on the Mega 651 - having read the numerous problems most users have, I don't advise installing it. If you do get it to work correctly, unlike on the Mega 180 and 865, it will not display temps or fan speeds on the LCD display, as this feature only works on the 180 and 865, as they use diferent LCD displays.
EXPANSION CARDS:
Same as with other Megas, you get 1 AGP and 1 PCI slot.
The AGP slot only supports up to 4x cards; a faster card will work, but only at 4x.
Space is limited, if you decide to fit a PCI TV tuner card, you will be limited as to which AGP card you can fit. A full length card is probably not recommended, and a model with a slimline (or even passive) heatsink would be best.
A better alternative would be to go for a VGA card with built in TV tuner, such as MSI TV5200-VTDF128 or an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder card (ATI AIW is supported in WinXP MCE05)
ON-BOARD VGA
The SiS651 chipset is pretty old now, and the on-board SiS650 VGA is not up to playing any of the latest games, as it is only DirectX 7.0 compliant and does not support Hardware Texture & Lighting. However, it is adequate for playing back DVDs as it supports hardware acceleration (in PowerDVD for example), and general video output is decent. The maximum shared video memory size is 64mb.
The Mega 651 does NOT feature TV-out as standard. You can however either buy an AGP video card which includes TV-out feature, or the Mega TV-out card (availble in UK from www.dabs.com). Please note, this card is ONLY for Mega 651, and does NOT work with the 865 model. (The 180 does however, thanks to nforce2 chipset, support TV-out as standard)
ON-BOARD AUDIO
The Realtek ALC650 AC97 audio codec offers 5.1 surround sound (with suitable speakers of course ) as well as SP-DIF for digital output.
The sound quality is quite reasonable; i'm currently listening to MP3s through a set of Creative Inspire 5.1 speakers, and its certainly good enough for me.
There are three audio connectors on the rear, they default to:
GREEN - Front speakers
BLUE - Line In
PINK - Mic
To connect surround sound speakers correctly, you need to use the Realtek audio configuration tool (located in the Taskbar by the clock). Set the speaker config to 4 or 6 channel (5.1) and then click on the boxes to the right to configure the rear ports correctly
GREEN - Front speakers
BLUE - Rear Speakers
PINK - Subwoofer / Centre Speaker
NOTE: If you do decide you want to install a PCI soundcard, be aware that you will lose the Radio function in PC mode, and for audio output in Hi-Fi mode you will need to reconnect audio plugs from your soundcard to onboard sockets. The Hi-Fi mode and Radio only work with the onboard audio.
POWER SUPPLY
All the Mega series barebones come with a 200w PSU. Don't even think about upgrading to a higher output type, as the Mega PSU is a non-standard type. A standard ATX PSU will NOT physically fit inside the Mega case. Besides which, the Mega series have a special connector which powers the Bluebird hi-fi module and on-board sound when the PC is off. And there is a special Molex power connector for the CD/DVD drive, also for that to be used when PC is off.
WINDOWS XP MCE 2005
Media Center 2005 requires a DirectX 8.1 / 9.0 compliant video card with a minimum of 64mb RAM, 128mb RAM is recommended, however, for best performance. So you will need an AGP card, because SiS do not provide any MCE-compatible drivers. The TV@anywhere TV tuner (MS8606-10) and Mega TV Tuner (MS8606-40) are not supported by MCE05, because MCE2005 requires a TV card that will provide a direct MPEG2 stream, which a PVR card such as the Hauppage PVR MCE series can do (as a hardware card, MSIs card are software only and rely on drivers to do MPEG encoding), or a dedicated DVB-T card which receives an MPEG2 signal over the air.
MEGA 651 REMOTE
If you fit an MSI TV@anywhere card to your Mega 651, the Mega remote can be used to control the MSIPVS software, providing you use the remote receiver supplied with the TV@nywhere card. The Mega remote is designed to work natively with the MSI Media Center, and MSI Mega Radio programs only.
If you wish to program the remote to operate other programs within windows, then you will need a program called Girder, and the accompanying MSI plugin, kindly provided by nathan. please see his sticky thread for more info, about his plugin, and how to obtain Girder.

Media Centre 3 Security Settings MEGA barebone
Hi,
I am having problems getting the MSI Media Centre Deluxe 3 to run properly my MEGA 865 on user accounts in Windows XP. It works fine in the Administrator account, however when it comes to the User account the program wouldn't start. I then gave the use accounts permission to access the MSI folder, and then the program starts however the remote control does not function nor does the LCD display activate. Has anyone tried this before and could tell what I need to set?
Thanks in advance.
This is my config:

P4 HT 3.0 GHz
2*512Mb Ram PC3200
MS8606 Tuner
Liteon 812S DVD
Samsung 160 GB
Windows Xp ProfessionalCan the radio be activated using the keyboard? Which version of MC do you use?
There is a program called sysdiag.exe located in the MC directory. If you select MC on the Intervideo tab it will show which files MC uses....
Does it say something weird?

TV@anywhere no audio in video capture
I just recently bought TV@anywhere and while ht etv audio and video are fine, whne I link up to my camcorder and download video, only the video comes out no audio. Can someone help if they have had the same problem before. The cables are fine, they work into the TV directly and the connections I think are good. ANy help?
ThanksI have posted an answer in another post see the thread by clicking on the link below.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/service/forum/index.php?threadid=22148&boardid=9&styleid=1
I beleive that only the TV@nywhere Master (MS8606) has the internal connector, so if it a standard TV@nywhere you will have to persue your quest. -
hi
saw a similar thread, but this is a little different, can not get any pic from my vcr, despite autotuning. i connect via antenna cable, i have no antenna connected to vcr only the cable to my 651, i can get 2 channels without the antenna but not the vcr, how can i finetune the MSIVPS manually? how can i reset the prev scan?
another question: what is the diff between the tv cards?, my drivers say 8606
i have antenna, s-video and comp connectors on my cardyou probably have this card in your Mega PC:
this is the Mega TV Tuner, also known as MS8606-40
this is the card I have in mine, cos I couldn't get the above one anywhere in UK:
this is the TV@nywhere Master card, also known as MS8606
as far as I can gather, the cards use the same Conexant capture chipset, the main difference being the TV@nywhere Master has a built in FM Tuner chip, whereas the Mega TV Tuner does not need one as the radio is in Mega barebones
so i would also imagine the drivers are the same too -
MS-8606 Mega TV Tuner audio cable
Got the MS-8606 to complete my new Mega 865 build. The internal audio cable supplied appears wrong. Should be same connector both ends or should be a converter ? The socket on the main board seems to take same connector as the one on tuner card but cable I have has different connectors either end one black (that fits) and a white connector that fits neither socket. Anybody else had this problem and how was it resloved. Supplier does not understand the problem. Also is the MS-8606 the same card everyone seems to complain about as crap ? Oopps
you just need a CD audio cable, as you would get with a CD or DVD drive. you're lucky; i didn't even get an audio lead with mine, good job we had hundreds at work...
the MS8606 comes in two varieties:
the MS8606-40 is the Mega TV tuner
the MS8606-10 is the TV@nywhere Master
i recommend you ditch the drivers that come on the CD and use those in my sticky in the TV@nywhere forum - they may be "Unofficial" and "BETA" but they work better than the official drivers -
BEFORE posting, please read this!!
Before posting in this forum, I urge you to read though GlennVidia's sticky post Suggestions on posting and getting better answers and also hpkuo's A collection of tips and tricks
also to new users, please create a signature in the User Control Panel listing your system specifications.
too many people are posting questions like "MSIPVS don't work, please help" but if you don't tell us what your system is, its like asking your GP to diagnose medical problems over the phone - ie, guesswork!! also it helps if you give us your location, ie Seattle, USA; Norwich, UK; Kabul, Afghanistan; for local TV issues.
any users with the MS8606 TV@nywhere Master should first try the Unofficial BETA drivers for this product listed in my sticky at the top of this forum, looking through the release notes for this, it fixes many problems that users have posted about.
plus make sure all your system and vga drivers are up-to-date, here are some links:

For ATI chipset and display drivers:

For Intel chipset and display drivers:

Installation of MSIPVS:
Download and install the latest drivers for your MSI TV Tuner (either from MSI or the BETA drivers if you are using TV@nywhere Master). After installing the drivers, please RESTART your PC (the installer won't prompt you to do this) BEFORE you install the MSIPVS or MediaCentre III software.
MSIPVS (or other InterVideo software) won't work if Windows has been installed to a partition other than C:, Mega PC users should disable the card reader by either unplugging it from the motherboard, or temporarily disabling the USB controller in BIOS before installing Windows to ensure it sees drive C: as default installation drive.
This should avoid any "antenna & afghanistan" default configurations in MSIPVS, but please ensure your correct region and TV standard settings are selected, and the correct cable / antenna connection is selected.
Mega PC series
Users using a Mega series barebone PC with MediaCentre III (ugh) should also search through the Mega PC series forum for further assistance there.
Hope this helpssorry, think i must have slipped on something

Tv tuner card into a standard dell pc??
Ive bought an MSI, pci, tv tuner card for a mega pc,from komplett.ie ( part no 120172) not ever hearing of a 'mega pc' before now. Put the card into a pci slot in my dell pc and installed the software on the cd supplied all fine.
Now I find that nothing tunes in and on seeking tech help am told that 'mega pcs' are not the same as pc's. And looking at the manufacturers website the information given on this product is slim to none. Is there a way to get this to work on my pc i.e. any software that will enable this seeing as its a pci card.
Im running win XP sp2 .
Id appretiate any help or advise anyone can offer on this.
Thanks.welcome to the world of MSI!
although this tuner card (MS8606-40) was designed with the Mega PC in mind (which itself is just a small form factor barebones) it is the same as the MSI TV@nywhere Master card (MS8606-10) but without the added FM radio tuner chip and remote controller, so I imagine it should work with it
you might be better off having a browse through the TV@nywhere forum and seeing if any posts there might help you, first thing i suggest you do is download and install the BETA drivers in my sticky post
