I have a question.
If there is MSAD configured with 11.1.2.1 is it somehow possible for user to change his MSAD password via EPM Workspace?

Hi,
Once MSAD is configured, all the credentials are handled from MSAD server and maintained by MSAD Administrator only, the user dont have the permission to change the password...
Even the Hyperion - Power Administrator dont have the permission to touch and alter the MSAD user groups.

I have the same problem to migrate project, you can' t have both of them logged on at the same time
I solve my problem with a virtual machine, i use VMWare with BPC 7.5 version and host machine with BPC 10 Version.

Hierarchy selection missing in member selector with Excel 2013 and EPM SP21

Hello all,
We have recently upgraded to excel 2013 and EPM SP21. While running a data manager package we are not getting an option for "hierarchy" view, only "list" view is available in member selector dialog box as shown below:
This clearly looks to be an issue with the upgrade as we never faced this earlier.
Please suggest.

Ima not sure y Windows 2008 support in Hyperion 11.1.2 brought with it a host of new challenges..(atleast to make copyrighted windows copys now onwards lol)
Windows 2008 introduced a new feature called User Access Control (UAC). while installing person need to have admin privillage other wise it HELL (nightmare ) and some unexpectedly problematic issues though security is good but .................

OBIEE and EPM install on Same box

Hi
I have installed EPM 11.1.2.2 and OBIEE on same linux box with different weblogic domains. (bifoundation for OBIEE and epmsystem1 for EPM).
But will creating these weblogic domains i used 7001 as the port in both the cases. ( for obiee i used basic install where it takes default port).
OBIEE /analytics is coming up at 7001 but if i try to enter with the epmsystem1 .. it denies the logon.. username and password not correct.
I have few questions here :
1) How can OBIEE and EPM weblogic domains be created on the same port : 7001
2) why my epm instance is not coming up at 7001 although i installed it at 7001.
Because of this if i restart my hyperion services .. they wouldn.t come up untill i stop obiee.. so i have to first start epm and the OBIEE and the other way round would not work.
The best way to avoid this would be create these two weblogic domains on differenr ports, but since i was confused with this behaviour.. thought of asking it to the experts.

The easiest way around it would be when you first deploy one of the EPM web applications set the admin server port to something different than 7001 then it wouldn't conflict with the admin server being used for OBIEE

SAP BPC MS 7.5 with Extended Analytic Analyzer and EPM connector

Hi experts,
I need your inputs regarding Extended Analytic Analyzer add ins.
I installed the SAP Business Object Extended Analytic Analyzer hoping to integrate the Xcelsius in SAP BPC MS 7.5
I am following the HTG to integrate but got lost.
In EPM connector steps, I cannot find the option from OPERATION TYPE: Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
The only options available under operation type are
EPM Report
Retrieve Environments
Retrieve Models
Retrieve Dimensions
Retrieve Dimension Members
Input Data
Retrieve Business Process Flows
Retrieve Context
Retrieve Members Property Values
RetrieveText From Library
It doesn't include the option Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
Im wondering if there are different version of the epm connector? Was my EPM connector differs from the HTG?
And also in Excel under Extended Analytic Analyzer, the function =GETREPORTDEFINITION() is missing

It seems a very good oportunity to use FIM.
FIM was designed especially for exchange data betweeen different SAP product.
FIM will provide an easy way to do the conversion using wizards and also will assure you about data inetgrity and quality.
This will be the way forward but more details has to be define during the implementation.

Synchronize MSAD and essbase groups and users automatic

I know it is not possible to import to Essbase users and groups directly from MSAD or LDAP. All users are deffined with external authentication. There is a way to create an application which make this synchronization possible ? May I have some samples? Thanks. 

If you are using LCM and groups are native and users are external provisioned against the groups then you will need to export the groups, if you want the provisioning against applications then you will also need to take that across.

ODI Agents and EPM

Hello!
I use EPM 11.1.2.1.0, ODI 11g, Solaris SPARC
The situation is as follows:
On a single server X is installed Hyperion Essbase, on another server (Y) - the application server (Hyperion Planning, Shared Services, etc.), the third (Z) - ODI
In Oracle Data Integrator creates the following packages:
1) Load the actual values from the Oracle DWH to Hyperion Essbase and execution of business rules using the Hyperion Planning console utility - CalcMgrCmdLineLauncher.sh
2) Extract planning values from the Hyperion Essbase to Oracle DWH, using KM - LKM Hyperion Essbase Data to SQL, which is specified EXTRACTION_QUERY_FILE - report script Essbase.
My question is, do I need to install ODI agents on both servers: X and Y. On Y must be exactly as it is called a command line utility, located on the hyperion planning server. Be sure to install the agent on the server X, where Essbase. (called report script)
If I need the agents on both servers, I can somehow relate them so as not to break the existing chain of steps in the ODI package?

If it is the report script extract then it should still work even if there is no agent on the essbase server.
An agent will be required on the running the calc manager utility though.
Even if you did multiple agents you can generate a scenario for each step and call the scenarios from a package.

Planning Login issue And EPM windows services error

Hi All,
I require help from you guys. I have couple of issues while installing Hyperion 9.3.1 on a sandbox.
(which is a win2003 SP2)
Issue1: I have Installed all the applications as mentioned in the Hyperion Documentation. In windows services
I can't able to start the following services.
-> Hyperion S9 EPM Architecht process Manager
-> Hyperion S9 EPM Architecht job Manager
-> Hyperion S9 EPM Architecht Event Manager
-> Hyperion S9 EPM Architecht Engine Manager
Though i could able to start the two other services( Web ATS5 and Data Synchonization ATS5) successfully.
Error I am getting is like ::: some services stop automatically if they dont have work to do.................
Issue2 : I could be able to login to Hyperion Appwizard page. when i completed the steps of creating the Application,
i clicked Finish button. Its displaying error like Error in processing the page please check log for details.
Please help me to resolve these issue. IF you ever had faced any of these.

Essbase single sign on accross version 7.1.5 and 9.5 (EPM)

We have essbase sitting on version 7.1.5 and EPM 11 and we want to impelement singal sign on accross these platform, does anyone have any idea or prior expereince doing this.

Are you talking about using an external source to manage the sign on or just using Shared services to handle it.
If you were using shared services you can only integrate with essbase 9.2+

Though I am not sure if you would be able to integrate with essbase 7.1.5

WebLogic and MSAD

I have setup and configured MSAD in WebLogic 10.3.5. I am able to see groups and users. If I try and log in with my MSAD credentials it fails. Is there something else I need to setup in order to be able to login to the WebLogic console as myself and not just the "weblogic" user?

If you are doing just straight up MSAD and not using OBIEE 11g, then just skip the OBIEE 11g steps and the rest will still work with just the WLS and MSAD integration.

Shared services taking longer after moving from LDAP to MSAD

we used to use LDAP for external authentication and the security refreh in EAS used to take like 1-2 mins.
We recently moved to MSAD and now the refresh is taking more than 20mins.
Even its taking a while to diplsy users to give them planning or essbase access.
Is something to do with MSAD?

Forget to mention that we are currently working on EPM 11.1.1.3 version on win 2003 environment...

That's Error asking 2 options one is Dismiss & Another is continue.

BPC 10 web interface uses adobe flash, try update to the latest version of flash and EPM add on.

Work Portal Authentication with MSAD

I have followed the document "Fuego Enterprise 5.1 and 5.5 Work Portal Authentication using microsoft Acive directory".
I am using Aqualogic 5.7 Standalone.
I have problems to log into the work portal with a MSAD user. Tomcat performs authentication against MSAD but after that it returns a Http 403 error (Access denied).
I have created a participan in aqualogic msad structure directly with the same id as msad user because I can not add participants through the process administrator but still the same problem.
In the document above in the paragraph "Configuring Fuego Directory service repository" it tells how to configure to automatic login to work portal after authenticating by tomcat with a fuego directory service deployed in an RDBMS (inserting two rows in a table) but it does not say anything if it is deployed in MSAD (We donÂ´t have such table). Perhaps this is my configuration problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you configured ALBPM Directory on MSAD (and not a RDBMS), then ALBPM will
naturally use MSAD for authentication.
You shouldn't need to do anything described in that document (no need for
special Tomcat configuration, no need to configure the Workspace either)

Report does not recognize formatting on inputable member in EPM Formatting-Sheet

Dear Gurus,
When using an EPM Formating Sheet in the EPM-AddIn for Excel the formatting for "Inputable Members" is not applied to the Report. The formatting for Local Members, Blank Members, Hierarchies etc. is recognized however. I applied the formatting sheet to the report and enabled the "use as input schedule" checkbox in the sheet options. The checkbox for Member/Property Formatting and "inputable Member default Format" is enabled as well.
The EPM-AddIn documentation does not state any specifics when using the "inputable Member" formatting.
I know that i could simply copy the formatting sheet and use "base level Formatting" but i would like to create a single formatting sheet for reports and input schedules in our company as a template.
We use SAP BPC 10.0 and EPM Add-In SP19 (Build 8909) on .Net Framework 3.5
Do you have any suggestions how to fix this issue?

HI Eric,
The EPM-AddIn documentation does not state any specifics when using the "inputable Member" formatting.
It is used normally when you want specific formatting for your base level member. In BPC you can input date (Save) data only on the base level member not on parent level members data get aggregates on the parent level member. So "inputable Member" formatting will apply only on the base level members.
The formatting for Local Members, Blank Members, Hierarchies etc. is recognized however.
If you are using hierarchies level formatting and inputable Member there are might chances of conflicting formatting,
Better to use either of them and also check check which formatting you are using Row or Column.
