MSCS: R/3 Enterprise on Oracle
Dear all,
We are considering whether to use MSCS or not in the following environment.
OS: Windows 2003
DB: Oracle 9i
SAP: R/3 4.7
HW: SAP certified
Now I have several questions:
1. Is it common to run SAP on one node and DB on the other?
2. When failover happens, what exactly happens to end users (such as re-login required or not):
a) In case of failure of CI,
b) In case of failure of Oracle,
3. The nodes really need to be in Active Directory?
4. How longer is average failover procedure?
Thank you very much for your any input!!!
Regards,
Kazuya
1- Yes, is quite common.
2- a)They get kicked out, user need to login again when system is up and running (If failover means system Crash)
b) System go into SICK (while DB is down)
3- NO, they can be local installations
4- Dont Understand the Question Sorry!
Hope this help!

Does OracleExpress 10g contain: Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Net Manag
Does OracleExpress 10g contain: Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Net Manager and Oracle Net Configuration Assistant ?
If yes: How do I call them ? What is the *.exe file of these programs ?
If no: Are they separate programs by 3rd party companies or only part of the full featured Standard Oracle distribution ?Does OracleExpress 10g contain: Oracle Enterprise
Manager, Oracle Net Manager and Oracle Net
Configuration Assistant ? No.
XE is designed with the intention that it is the only Oracle database on the machine and therefore does not need a NetMgr or NetCA.
OEM is not included, nor can it be fully used because of it's use of Java Stored Procs and Perl. (Some OEM functionality DOES work, but it's not complete.)
Instead, APEX 2.1 provides the related functionality.
If yes: How do I call them ? What is the *.exe file
of these programs ?See above
>
If no: Are they separate programs by 3rd party
companies or only part of the full featured Standard
Oracle distribution ?These programs are offered by Oracle, but have specific requirements and assumptions that are not met in XE. They are available, and included with Standard Edition One and above - SE1, SE, EE and PE (in order of feature capability). -

Scripts in \Resources\Enterprise Scripts\Oracle
Hello,
we plan to install BusinessObjects xi 3.1 Release 3 on Oracle. In the document "xir2_Oracle_Setup_Guide_for_BusinessObjects_Planning_11.20_en.pdf" i can find
"To create this account, execute the script CreateUsers.sql. A copy of this script can be
found on your BusinessObjects Planning product distribution, in the folder
\Resources\Enterprise Scripts\Oracle."
Unfortunately i can't find the underlying scripts CreateUsers.sql and CreateTableSpaces.sql.
Best regards
LutzI'm confused - you said you are planning to install BOE XI3.1 Sp3, yet you are using document for XIR2 Planning.
BOE does not need any special oracle scripts.
What exactly are you trying to install ? -
Hi,
I'm in the planning stage of migrating an Oracle 8.1.7.4.1 Enterprise database to an Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and i have a couple of questions.
1) Can it be done or do i have to migrate to Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 Enterprise Edition?
2) If it can be done can i
a) follow the manual upgrade process to upgrade to 10.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition?
b) use export to take an 8.1.7.4.1 enterprise export and then import it into a new empty 10.2.0.3.0 database?
I've read the 10g upgrade guide but i can't see any pointers on this but please feel free to point me to any documentation resources.
Thanks in anticipation of you help.

George Johnston

Oracle 9i Enterprise to Oracle 11g Standard
Hello,
Hey guys, I just want to ask. Right now we're currently planning to upgrade our oracle database from 9i Enterprise to 11g Standard. I just want to know what the critical differences between the two are. This is so we can asses how much impact it will have on our current applications using the current 9i database. The original plan was to upgrade it to 11g Enterprise but later on they were suggesting that why not 11g standard instead? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Floyd,
Enterprise edition has some extra feature like partitioning , advanced security.
Also The only way to properly convert from an Enterprise Edition back to a Standard Edition is through an Export/Import operation. This way you will get rid of all Enterprise Edition specific Data Dictionary objects, as the SYS schema objects are not exported. The Standard Edition EXP utility is
preferred to be used to export the data.

Integrating Oracle R enterprise with Oracle 11g
I need to implement some data mining algorithms (SVM, CART, C5.0) and feed the result obtained to OBIEE 11g. My database (tables, views) are located in the Oracle database. So, my question is how can I integrate Oracle R enterprise so that I can implement the algorithms in R language and present to the users through OBIEE? Or, are there any methods to obtain these objectives?
Jivan
Edited by: 1008523 on Jun 5, 2013 1:57 AMOracle R Enterprise supports integration with OBIEE using an RPD where the R results appear as a table via ORE's embedded R execution. See the tutorial slides [Oracle R Enterprise 1.3 Integrating R Results and Images with OBIEE Dashboards|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-analytics/r-enterprise/ore-trng5-operatnlzgrscripts-1501640.pdf] for details. In addition, take a look at my latest blog post on [Converting Existing R Scripts to ORE - Getting Started|https://blogs.oracle.com/R/entry/converting_existing_r_scripts_to] for a more general discussion of converting R scripts to ORE, which highlights use of embedded R, as well as the tutorial slides [Oracle R Enterprise 1.3 Embedded R Execution|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-analytics/r-enterprise/ore-trng3-transprncylayer-1501636.pdf].
ORE provides in-database predictive analytics algorithms, e.g., SVM, Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, GLM, among others, that can be used with ORE embedded R execution. ORE also supports the use of CRAN packages supporting the algorithms you cited. Such packages need to be installed in the database server R instance.

Problems with Enterprise Manager Oracle 10gR2
Hi,
The installation of 10gR2 on Windows 2000 seems to work.
I only have a problem with web enterprise manager.
I can connect to the database correctly and I can manage the database (creating tables, users and so on).
The only problem is in the first page (home) of the database, accessing with the web enterprise manager.
In fact I get this "error: java.lang.Exception: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused", but I however access the db.
I verified the DBSNMP user and it's active.
Did someone get the same error?
Excuse if I'm repeating a previous post, but I received answers about linux environment only (I have Windows 2000 server, instead).
thanks a lot,
FrancescoWe have in fact seen the same error. In our case, it appeared after the network guys moved the Oracle server from one domain to another. (This is not an action that I highly recommend, by the way.)
I used emca to delete the Enterprise Manager agent and recreate it. For a single instance server not in a cluster or on a grid, the commands look like this:
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
emca -config dbcontrol db
That worked just fine. However, we started getting an "account locked" error when the Enterprise Manager started. And the result is the same as you described. The account is not locked by any means. If you ignore what you see on the screen about an error, you can go on and administer the database just fine. It's just when you get back to the home screen, it tells you that your account is locked and you are not in touch with the instance.
I can make the error go away for awhile by stopping and starting the agent with
emctl stop dbconsole
emctl start dbconsole
But the error comes back in a little while.
We don't consider it a show stopper, since the database performs normally. It's just one of those things you wish it would not do. -
When I do
select username from dba_users; on SQLPLUS The schema that I want is there but on OEM it's not there. How do I retrieve it.
Thanx.Enterprise manager of any version is merely a tool to connect to the db and get the info. Its not having any repository of its own from where it can serve ( or not) your query. If your query works from the CLI mode and is giving correct results, it should work the same with the EM as well.
Check that you are on the same database on both the places.

Enterprise manager Oracle Agent Unreachable
Hello,
I have done a fresh install of Oracle 11Gr2 and everything was working fine. I imported a database.
When i connect trought the EM the Oracle Agent status is: unreachable.
But everything is working fine, i can connect to the database, i can use the EM, make changes, updates, everything.
I can't figure out what could be wrong, i already tryed to change the agent password, but the error remains.Did you check the agent through GC Setup page (top right corner on any GC page, then click Agents)? Does it say anything there?
You can always try:
1. Stop the agent
2. Do a clearstate (emctl clearstate agent)
3. Clean the upload and state directories from agent home ($AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload/ and $AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state/), remove these files too:
$AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
$AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
$AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
$AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/protocol.ini
4. Secure the agent and start it again. -

OutOfMemoryError when running Oracle BPM Enterprise's Configuration Wizard
Hi,
I was trying to configure Oracle BPM Enterprise via Oracle BPM Admin Center. I left most of the settings to their respective default values; only adding in passwords for the Directory, Engine, etc. However an error was encountered when it is trying to deploy the '01-eng-bpmengine' EAR file. A 'OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space' was logged after running the configuration for a while. Below is the full error log:

Is there any way that I can increase the heap size of the Configuration Wizard? If not, is there any solution to this problem?Hi,
It seems to be a Weblogic OOM (OutOfMemory).
Why don't you try increasing the weblogic memory (you have to modify your domain scripts)
I guess that after increasing your WLS domain memory settings you will be able to configure it using the config wizard.
Hope this helps,

X64 Oracle 11g R2 Install On i7 3770 Windows 7 x64 Enterprise System Fails
x64 Oracle 11gR2 installation on my new Windows 7 x64 Enterprise system fails after the "Desktop/Server Class" screen. I click Next, and then nothing happens. The install app closes and no installation logs are available. I checked the Windows logs and there is nothing obvious.
My new system has an Intel i7 3770 cpu with 32GB of ram. My old system had twin Intel Xeon EM64T cpus with 3GB of ram. Both systems ran Windows 7 x64 Enterprise. x64 Oracle 11gR2 installed and ran fine on the old system, but the old system started making "funny" noises and had to be replaced.
This is my personal system, not a commercial installation. I got Win 7 x64 Enterprise from my community college, which is a Microsoft Partner. I need Oracle for my relational database classes.
The story so far:
1. I downloaded win64_11gR2_database_1of2 and win64_11gR2_database_2of2 and unpacked both of them into a folder named win64_11gR2_database_install, replacing as necessary.
2. I set up a loopback adapter and added the following entry to c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts:
10.10.10.10 localhost PaulK-PC # Loopback Adapter for Oracle 11gR2 Install
3. After creating the loopback adapter, I restarted my PC. I can ping the adapter with no problems.
4. I ran c:\Users\PaulK\Downloads\Oracle\win64_11gR2_database_install\database\setup.exe as Administrator.
5. I skipped email notification, since I don't have a support agreement.
6. I select "Create and configure a database".
7. Whether I select Desktop Class or Server Class, when I click Next, the installation app dies.
Page 2-2 of Oracle Database Installation Guide 11g Release 2 (11.2) for Windows E24186-01 states that an x64 installation of Oracle requires an AMD64 or EM64T cpu. Does this mean I need to install the x86 version of Oracle 11gR2, or is there some other problem?
Suggestions?
Thanks.And Part II:

Installation problems in MSCS ORACLE 10.2 ECC 6.00
I am writing to report some unexpected installation problems. I am installing SAP ECC 6.00 in a MSCS cluster environment (Windows 2003 / Oracle 10.2) in our production environment and I am having problems during the installing the central instance phase. The sapinst_dev shows the following error: CJS-30102 Checking the database for installation type failed, Also the jsourcecheck.log shows the following error: com. sap. engine. frame. core. configuration. Configuration Exception: Error while connecting to DB and java. sql. SQLException: Excepción de E/S: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection at oracle. jdbc.driver. DatabaseError. throwSqlException (DatabaseError.java:112)
The database is currently running without any problem and all the services (SAP and Oracle) as well.
Following the installation guide, I performed the almost all the steps successfully:
Oracle RDBMS, patches and Oracle fail safe software on both nodes (successfully)
Install the central services instance for ABAP (ASCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
Install the central services instance (SCS) on the first MSCS node (successfully)
Cluster the first MSCS node (successfully)
Install the database instance on the first MSCS node (successfully)
Cluster the additional MSCS node (successfully)
Install an enqueue replication server(successfully)
Perform additional steps for the Oracle Fail Safe configuration (successfully)
Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)
Set up as shared database directory in your Oracle Home (successfully)
Add the Oracle database resource to the Fail Safe group (successfully)
install the central instance (Failed)
install at least one dialog instance (not installed yet)
As you can observe, I have performed the create oracle fail safe group activity first and then the install the central instance later. Reading the sap note 967121 today, I just realized that there is a wrong installation sequence; the sap note 967121 (actualized date: 17/OCT/07 ) says that you must install the central instance before you create the Oracle Fail Safe group. Is this sequence compulsory? Or can I continue the installation process?
If this sequence is compulsory do I have to reinstall all the predecessor activities or should I undo just the create oracle fail safe group activity?
Please let me know if the error which is showed in the installation of the central instance phase is because the wrong sequence or it is due to another reason.
Our cluster configuration is:
4 network card
Public network cards:
Ip:192.168.2.240 (hostname: ccaribe3rp1, Node A)
Ip: 192.168.2.241 (hostname: ccariber3p2, node B)
Private network cards:
Ip: 10.10.10.1 (hostname: ccaribe3rp1.ceramicascaribe.com, node A
Ip: 10.10.10.2 (hostname: ccaribe3rp2.ceramicascaribe.com, node B
Clustergroup:
Cluster group name: SAPPRO
Cluster group Virtual IP: 192.168.2.239, network name: SAPPRO (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
SAP cluster group:
Sap clustergroup virtual IP: 192.168.2.238, network name: sapgrp (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)
Database cluster group:
Database cluster group virtual Ip: 192.168.2.237, network name: dbgrp (subnet mask: 255.255.255.0)
We have performed the mapping of the host names to the IP addresses on the windows host file already.
I would be very grateful if someone kindly can help me to solve this problem.
Best Regards
Boris RomeroHello Boris,
one of the main problems is that step
"Create the Oracle Fail Safe group (successfully)"
cannot be successful because you need to run configtool and change the secure store as described in installation guide. At this stage the configtool does not exists (documentation error for ECC6.0 guide), so the correct sequence is to install CI and cluster the DB, but not vice versa.
Which stage is the sapinst braking up?
Is this beginning, middle or end of installation?
Did you try to run configtool and modify secure store?

nullHi,
Here the problem not with host NAME.
Please search for the article
434834.1 Problem: Host Cpu and Active Sessions Charts Are Not Displayed on DB Console Homepage
Bug 6030546 CPU GRAPH ERRORS WITH JAVA.LANG.NOCLASSDEFFOUNDERROR: ORACLE/CHARTS/TYPES/CHART
Solution
You can implement the following workaround to prevent the issue from happening:
1) Stop the dbconsole
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emctl stop dbconsole
2) Search for a file named jcb.jar under ORACLE_HOME/sysman/webapps/emd/WEB-INF/lib
3) Copy the jcb.jar that you found to <ORACLE_HOME>/sysman/jlib folder
4) Start the dbconsole
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emctl start dbconsole
How search: login to
support.oracle.com
right side, copy and paste 434834.1
main problem is you are not able to see chart Active Sessions or chart Host CPU in EM
Hope this answers your question
Kind Regards,
Rakesh jayappa
