MSExchange ADAccess 2080

Hi All,
We have two Exchange 2013 servers set up in DAG with 2 DC's running in a single site. We had to reboot DC1 and before it came backup MAIL1 then crashed and rebooted.
Checking out the logs before the crash I can see that when DC1 was rebooted MAIL1 was unable to locate another DC in the site, even though there are two.
Checking the MSExchange ADAccess errors when DC1 was back online, MAIL1 is only reporting the following:
Process Microsoft.Exchange.Directory.TopologyService.exe (PID=64668). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics:
(Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version)
In-site:
DC1.domain.com CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1
Where as MAIL2 remained online and reports:
Process Microsoft.Exchange.Directory.TopologyService.exe (PID=164764). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics:
(Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version)
In-site:
DC1.domain.com CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1
DC2.domain.com CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1
All services etc failed over using DAG when MAIL1 went offline so this side isn't an issue but i'm trying to locate why MAIL1 is only reporting seeing DC1 and not DC2.
Thanks.

Hi,
I agree with Nagendra, you should run dcdiag on DC2 and check the result.
Beside run dcdiag , I also recommend you check the DNS SRV record, or try to reboot dc2 and check if ok.
Thanks.

I solved this problem or at least managed to get a workaround for it.
I tried to install Exchange using rdp connection and the installation media was mapped on my local computer. After I copied it to server itself, everything started to work and now I am able to send emails.

  • Event 2193, MSExchange ADAccess

    Hi,
After updating our Exchange 2013 SP1 servers to CU6 we get a lot of these errors in the Application log on them. All our DCs except two that is on the same site as the Exchange servers, is in the error messages. It is a bit random in time but each
DC gives an error about every 25 minutes on both Exchange servers. Any idea?
    Event Id: 2193

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the Dcdiag to check your DC health at first and verify if there is any issue with the DCs.
Here is an article about Dcdiag for your reference.

  • Troubleshooting Event 2080 MSExchange ADAccess

Maybe a bit of a strange one.
We have 1 x Exchange 2010 server and 2 x Domain controllers configured identically (to the best of my knowledge)
When we look in the Application log at the AD Topology, we see the following for the domain controllers
    In-site
    server1.domain.local     CDG177101171
    server2.domain.local     --G117101171
    Out-of-site
    <blank>
What could be the reason that there are hyphens where there should be CD on server2.domain.local
    According to this article http://howdouc.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/exchange-active-directory-topology.htmlserver2.domain.local
can not be used as a domain controller for Exchange?
How do we go about fixing the issue?
    Thanks in advance

Also I can also telnet to the following ports from the exchange server to Server 2
    389/TCP/UDP (LDAP)
    3268/TCP (LDAP GC)
    88/TCP/UDP (Kerberos)
    53/TCP/UDP (DNS)
    135/TCP (RPC netlogon)

  • 2601, 2604, and 2501 MSExchange ADAccess Event IDs when a Microsoft Exchange server restarts

I traced the problem to my Failover Cluster Manager.  The cluster was Offline and the IP for the DAG was not available.
Under Cluster Core Resources, the cluster was shown to Offline.
Right-click and select Bring this resource Online.

Sorry, what's the question here? There could be multiple connectivity reasons behind and it seems in your case it was cluster resource...
    ransient DNS failures
    Transient issues with Domain Controllers
    Transient network connectivity issues
Network switches that have the PortFast functionality disabled on the ports to which the Exchange servers connect

  • MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage, Event id 10100 and 6002

I have installed Exchange 2013 standard version in clean single domain structure with two Windows 2012 domain controllers and about 60 users that all have mailbox on the Exchange server.
I’m getting MSExchange Mid-Tier Storage warning in event viewer 20 to 30 times a day.
     It’s event id 10100 and 6002, mostly 10100.
Everything seems to be working but I want to get rid of this warning.

  • ADAccess validation errors

    Hi
We recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010 and we are getting repeated errors in the event log from MSExchange ADAccess. They come in pairs (I think because I set logging to expert) of the form:
Process Microsoft.Exchange.AddressBook.Service.exe (PID=20860). Object CN={security group},OU=Security Groups,OU=MyBusiness,DC={domain},DC=local read from server1.{domain}.local failed validation. Attribute: ExchangeLegacyDN. Error message: You must provide
a value for this property.. Invalid data: .
Process Microsoft.Exchange.AddressBook.Service.exe (PID=20860). Recipient object CN={security group},OU=Security Groups,OU=MyBusiness,DC={domain},DC=local read from server1.{domain}.local failed validation. A partially valid object will be returned.
Set event logging level for Validation category to Expert to get additional events about each failure.
(I have removed the names of the domain and groups).
All the errors correspond to security groups. These groups were accidently given email addresses during the migration but I have removed all Exchange attributes from them now. I think the ExchangeLegacyDN attribute in the error is a typo which should read
LegacyExchangeDN, as all the groups have this value but it is <Not Set>.
These errors only started appearing after I installed Blackberry Server Express on the new Exchange server. A load of them will appear together in the application log and I think they correspond to the group membership of a Blackberry enabled user.
    Any ideas?
    Oli

Symptom: Warning 2158 and 2161 appear repeatedly for the objects that have already
mail-disabled, and the legacyDN is null
Cause: This can happen after you've mail-disabled the object but there're still references
to it in other AD objects
Resolution: The issue will be fixed in the later service pack

  • How to safely change the domain controllers that Exchange use from Out-Of-Site into the In-Site ?

    Hi Folks,
I'd like to know what's the best way to edit the Exchange Server 2007 entry
In-Site entries and removing the entries from Out-Of-Site safely without causing any downtime or problem with the workstations ?
From the MSExchange ADAccess Event ID 2080, I can see that the Domain Controllers that is currently used by Exchange Servers is all on the
In-Site lists which I need to decommission due to office building migration and downsizing, the workstations remain in the same building only the servers must go.
    Current configuration:
Exchange Servers AD Site: HQ1 (for all roles)
    Workstations AD Site: HQ1
    Proposed configuration:
Exchange Servers AD Site: Prod-DC1 (for all roles)
    Workstations AD Site: HQ1
    Thanks.
    /* Server Support Specialist */

    Hi,
    Steve's clarification is right.
From your description, you want to change the DC used by Exchange server. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Please make sure the following things before setting the DC for Exchange:
    1. New DC has its own IP in its TCP/IP as primary DNS server.
    2. New DC is global catalog.
    3. New DC has correct DNS settings in the MSDC folder.
    4. Restart the Exchange active directory topology discovery service and watch the event viewer, there should be an event that discover both domain controllers. If this happens, then turn off the old DC.
Besides, topology information will remain in the system attendant service for 15 min, so the time to switch to the new one is about 15 minutes.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

    Amy,
The Exchange Server has been rebooted couple of times but yes, all of the In-Site AD servers are still on not rebooted yet.
So in this case do you suggest me to demote the oldDC and turn off all of the In-Site DC/GC first and then reboot Exchange Server after wards one by one ?

  • Outlook Reports "Need A Password"

    Hi There,
I have been searching around and there appears to be lots of causes for this problem so I'll be as specific as I can.
We are running SBS2011 (as a VM) on Windows 2008R2, SBS includes Exchange 2010 and all users are on Outlook 2010.
I realised I was only at SP1 Roll up 8 on Exchange 2010 so I applied SP3 Roll up 4 yesterday.
Once a day or so, I'm seeing Error Event ID 4999 in the application log, Followed by Error Event ID 7031 in the System log.
At this time many users (I'm assuming all) get the Outlook Username and Password dialog box pop up.  It doesn't matter what they type into this box, they are not re-authenticated.  If they cancel the dialog they get "Need Password"
in the status bar in the bottom right hand corner of Outlook.  If the user closes and reopens Outlook the problem is solved until the error in the event log occurs again.
I have looked back through several of these events and it appears that the Application log event is preceded by an informational Event ID 2080 every time.  Full details of the event logs below.
Does anyone have an idea about how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance
    David.

    Hi Martina,
I did see that article but wasn't game to install it as it says...
    Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must be running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
I'm running SBS 2011.  I know they are "Mostly" the same but not game to install it.
I have just done a search for the file.

A few were found are newer than this date (10Jul2013)
    And some were older 20Nov2010
I don't know which ones are actually in use.
Certainly the ones in System32 Syswow64 are the older ones.
Not sure if this information is of any use.  I'll sneak in a reboot tonight. :)

  • Error Extending 2012 R2 AD Schema for Exchange 2013 RTM/CU6/CU7 (for Office 365 attributes)

    Hello all,
I am a sysadmin at a 3 campus school, and am trying to extend our AD schema to include Exchange 2013 attributes so that we can configure groups synced to Office 365 using DirSync. However it keeps failing at the same point each time.
I have tried with RTM first, and then CU6, but I keep getting the same error and am unsure how to fix it.
"repadmin /showrepl" says that our 3 DCs are replicating with no issues, and I'm trying to extend the schema using an "Enterprise Admin"/"Schema Admin" account on our schema master DC.
Our domain/forest functional level is Server 2008R2, and we do not have an Exchange server set up already - if that helps.
    The PowerShell error is:
    PS C:\Users\rbbr\Desktop\Exchange> .\setup /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

The Exchange Server setup operation didn't complete. More details can be found in ExchangeSetup.log located in the
    <SystemDrive>:\ExchangeSetupLogs folder.
    And ldif.err says:

An error has occurred in the program
The schema attribute "CN=ms-DS-GeoCoordinates-Altitude,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=kurnai,DC=lan" does exist in the schema, but I don't know what to do or where to go from here.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I just tried .\setup /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:kurnaicollege /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms, and got the exact same error as above.
Is there a way to delete the offending schema attributes, or to force its overwrite or something?
EDIT: I am also getting these eventvwr errors when running /PrepareAD, if it helps:

  • The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process a request due to an unexpected error

Since demoting a child domain a few days ago, Exchange 2013 is still trying to contact it and as a result generating errors in the application event logs.  I had a similar problem which I solved by removing some old migration batches, now I have a problem
with the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service.
    The event logged is:
The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process a request due to an unexpected error.
    Request GUID: '0b6c0f5a-0563-48e2-8b97-e0781c6cc69a'
    Database GUID: '23258311-ad29-41c2-a842-522f48baa267'
Error: Unable to read from Active Directory. --> The call to Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service on server 'TopologyClientTcpEndpoint (localhost)' returned an error. Error details Unable to find a suitable directory server for
domain 'admin.riddlesdown.local'.. --> Unable to find a suitable directory server for domain 'admin.riddlesdown.local'..
Process Microsoft.Exchange.Directory.TopologyService.exe (PID=2280). Exchange Active Directory Provider could not find an available domain controller in domain admin.riddlesdown.local. This event may be caused by network connectivity issues or
    configured incorrectly DNS server.
The domain doesn't exist in AD Sites and Services, I have removed all traces from DNS but this is still occurring.  When I run Get-ADServerSettings | fl it reports no trace of the domain or a DC that was previously in it.
How can I stop these events occurring and is it likely to be causing something else not to work correctly.
We are running Exchange 2013 CU1

No, that didn't work.  Here are more details:

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 readiness check failing

Trying to install our first Exchange 2013 SP1 server on Windows 2012 R2 in our datacentre, the readiness check fails with:
    Error:
The Active Directory schema isn't up-to-date, and this user account isn't a member of the 'Schema Admins' and/or 'Enterprise Admins' groups.
    For more information, visit: http://technet.microsoft.com/library(EXCHG.150)/ms.exch.setupreadiness.SchemaUpdateRequired.aspx
There are many more errors relating to Enterprise admin rights etc.
    Please note that:
My account is Domain admin, Schema admin and Enterprise admin member, it always has been.
I tried the built-in AD Administrator which of course is part of the groups as well, no difference.
Active Directory is at 2008 R2 for domain and forest functional levels.
I tried rejoining the new Exchange designated server to the domain
I've installed RSAT-ADDS, the Managed API 4.0 and all the other windows roles via powershell
There is a local domain controller that is a global catalog server on the new Exchange server subnet
I tried running the Exchange Setup on a different server on the same subnet as where the active 2010 Exchange server resides as well as the FSMO AD role holder resides, this works fine. I even did the AD prep from there no problem, that made no difference
    on the datacentre server
AD replicates fine between the FSMO role holder and the Datacentre (no errors in dcdiag or repadmin /showrepl)
This error is in the event log:

So I decided to re-install the OS, worked perfectly now. Only difference from before would be:
SCCM hasn't pushed SCEP 2012 to the new build of the same server yet
The original server was installed in a different AD site and then it was physically mode and reassigned to an new AD site and subnet
I might have installed the pre-reqs in a slightly different order (RSAT-ADDS, all the IIS etc things via powershell
and then the UCM API 4.0. (saw few comments that the order of how you install them matters in other forums).
10 or so Microsoft Windows updates haven't installed on the new OS build yet.
Other than that, its identical. But if its not broken don't fix it, perhaps the above can help someone else though.

  • Exchange 2013 Information Store Service not starting

This is the event viewer error: Event 4027 Msexchange AdAccess.
This is the description in spanish of the event:
Proceso w3wp.exe (PID= 2788). Error en la solicitud WCF (Get Servers for xxxxx) al servicio de topología de Active Directory de Microsoft Exchange en el servidor (TopologyClientTcpEndpoint (localhost))

Hello. We rebooted our Exchange 2013 Server and now  Information Store Service is not starting among other main services.
When I try to start manually the service it turns an error 2414. I found out in some pages that enabling IPv6 should make it work but in my case it doesn't.
    Any idea?

  • Exchange 2007 - Empty OU list when adding New Mailbox in EMC

When attempting to add a new mailbox using the Management Console, everything seems fine until you go to select which OU it belongs to. It shows two OU entries, the "Microsoft Exchange Security Groups" and "Users" folders.
So far we've been using a custom one called "Hosting" which contains various sub-OUs depending on who the user belongs under, and this has been working just fine until this morning when nothing showed up any more.
We've ensured there are no updates pending, and have even resorted to trying a reboot without any luck.
We have 100 OUs under "Hosting", and just under 400 regular mailboxes set up as is. The OU is also visible using ADSI Edit or whe nbrowsing AD by it self.
    We are running Exchange Server 2007 v 08.03.0342.000, with Management Console 3.0 v 6.0 (Build 6002: SP2)
Recipient Scope is set to the topmost OU, I've also attempted to switch this to use the full forest, but this did not produce any different outcome, the same list is provided me.

I hope IPv6 is enabled on the server!
