MSFT calls it Tracking but what does Apple Call it?

You know when you send out an email and once the person at the other end receives they send an auto email that yes I got your email?
Anyone know what it's called for mail.app.
I've slowly done the switch over to using full mac at work and so far loving it.

I don't recommend it, but it can be done. Quit mail and run Terminal. Type this command and press return:
defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To"="your@address";}'
using your correct email address instead of your@address.
All messages sent with Mail will now include the Disposition-Notification-To header which is the one asking for a return receipt.
If you wish to turn off this feature in the future, the Terminal command is:
defaults delete com.apple.mail UserHeaders
It is a hidden feature, and comes with several warnings:
use at your own risk
once you set it, it applies to all messages until you unset it
it can only be done from the terminal, with mail shut down
using it does not guarantee a response - some mail clients will ignore it, and many mail users will have told their clients to ignore it

My iphone plus is bending, what does Apple offer regarding this issue?
I am trying to get to contact with Apple Customer Care, but not clear to me how to do it beside this channel of communication. I bought the phone from kosovar carrier which is under Slovenian ownership. This means that the original warranty comes from Slovenia, bit complicated but still I would like to get an urgent answer how to proceed with this issue, thanks

Maybe i should have only asked if anyone is aware on apple's policy
regarding bending. I took the point that this seems not a proper forum to
pose Q's to apple thanks to both

  • What does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

What will apple do for you if what does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

If the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, they will unquestionably replace it.  If the damage was caused by misuse or mishandling, such as dropping, Apple is obliged to do nothing.  Your best bet is to go to the Genius bar at an Apple store and explain what happened, perhaps they will replace the iPod.  Also, If you bought your iPod with a credit card, check with your card company.  Some cards provide Purchase Protection insurance which will replace or repair any item lost, stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase.

I had this same problem and started a thread, but for the most part nobody responded and those who did somehow didn't understand what the problem was.

I'm sure the problem is sweat getting into the apple supplied headphone "remote." Basically even the smallest drop can slide down the wire and get into the unit.
Unfortunately I haven't found a solution other than to get a Belkin remote adapter and some sport headphones. This doesn't give you voice over, but you can still control the volume, skip, etc.
I've been doing this for a couple weeks now and it hasn't had a freak out since.

  • What does Apple class as a "high quality" download from iTunes (music)?

What does Apple class as a "high quality" download from iTunes (music)?

    no1villafan wrote:
    Not really high quality, then?
I guess that depends on how you define "high quality," eh?
But seriously, in blind listening tests the vast majority of people can not tell the difference between AAC @ 256 Kbps and a CD. So it can be argued that the tracks available on the iTunes Store are, at least, CD quality. And since the tracks Apple gets to sell are coming directly from the master recordings it could also be argued they are, in some cases, better than CD quality.
Just because a digital audio track is lossless does not automatically make it "high quality." At least, not to me.

This one kid reported to them that his was stolen and they gave him a new one. Will they do the same for me? Is there any other way I can get all my pictures from my iPod without iCloud set up? Would Apple be able to lock up my iPod so they cant use it at all? Please help me, thanks (:

Nothing... why would they do anything?
Apple does not provide insurance and they are not law enforcement.

  • What does Apple mean by "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete."

I just recently returned an IPad air and exchanged it for another. I first set up this new one as a new IPad but then deleted all content and settings right away (since I wasn't getting the progress I had made in apps and games) in order to restore it from my previous IPad Air. I then checked after on how to backup via icloud and saw this line under the subtitle of how to restore from a backup, "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete." What does Apple mean by "for best battery performance"? Im just a bit worried of issues.
p.s. And yes I did have it connected to the power. And the ios is the default ios for new IPad Airs.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It only means you should restore whilst it is connected to a power supply, so that your battery doesn't go flat during the process.

  • Why is the sound of my new ipad cutting out intermittently and what does Apple recommend to solve the problem in lieu of any updates?

Why is the sound of my new ipad cutting out intermittently and what does Apple recommend to solve the problem in lieu of any updates? All of a sudden without changing any settings, the audio on my NEW ipad cuts in and out on applications/ games, keypad noise and lock sounds. The rocker button only seems to work while the sound is intermittently being heard before, after a few seconds of noise not doing anything when sound goes off.
This is highly frustrating as I've noticed others posting about such issues as far back as April. Anybody had the same thing happen to them? Is this likely software (ios6) or hardware issue? What are the solutions Apple???

Apple has no physical stores of their own in Dubai, so unless you mean that you purchased from the online Apple Store for the UAE, you purchased from a dealer, who may or may not have been authorized. You can check the expiration date of the warranty on your iPad yourself by entering in the serial number here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
If it does indeed show the warranty has expired, then what you need to do from here will depend on who you purchased the iPad from and when you really did purchase it. Perhaps you actually purchased it in August and are just misremembering? Check your receipt. If you confirm that you did purchase within the last calendar year, tell us exactly where you got it and we can probably offer advice.
    Regards.

  • This is probably a stupid question, but what does the red circle with a number in it mean on iCal? It looks just like the emails notification. I do not have anything do or up in my cal.

This is probably a stupid question, but what does the red circle with a number in it mean on iCal? It looks just like the emails notification. I do not have anything do or up in my cal.

Actually, another person on the "more like this" had the right answer. It meant I had a notification for an invite that I needed to respond to.
Hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

  • Finally MS-8348A's new firmare is here, but what does it do?

The 150D MS-8348A's new firmare is online, but what does it do? Are we suppose to try it and see by ourselves? Does it allows new cd's capacity, better compatibility?
    Snoopo

I just installed an MS-8345A (took a while to figure out whether I had an A or a B model -- this should be easier to tell).
It won't read a CD-R made on another computer running NERO 5.  All other CDROMs can read this CD.
I saw a very new firmware update (1.50) and downloaded it.  Absolutely bad install instructions.  It says to copy the files into the C:\ drive and then run the install program in "real dos" what ever that is.  I move the files to the C:\ drive, booted to a DOS 6.22 system. and WOW DOS can't read an NTFS file on the C:\ drive.  So, I copied files to the diskette, booted to DOS 6.22 and the install went OK, as near as I could tell.  The last message said that my firmware version 140D was updated to version 150D.
Didn't fix a thing.  Still can't read the CD-R.  The note on the Support Driver Download page said that it was to "improve medium compatibility".  Didn't
I also had a real hard time getting this CD/RW drive to boot from the Windows XP Home setup CDROM.  Took many tires before it would boot.
    So far I'm not impressed.
Anyone else tried this?  Anyone else having trouble reading CF-Rs?

  • What does apple do with our Adresses?

What does apple do with my address if I ever give it to them to create an account at iTunes store?
Do they ever send me mail? Or even junk-mail?
    Thanks for the help.

Unless you want to recieve advertising alerts on artists, its just use to send you receipts for purchases and that's it.

  • What does Apple do for it's employees........

Just a general question. I have this topic on different businesses for business class and what/how the company treats it's employees. Do you guys have any information that could help me on it? What does Apple do for it's employees, in terms of the type of work environment. How they treat their employees. What benefits are given to it's employees. Etc. Thanks!

Welcome to Discussions - you would probably get an answer if you wrote to Apple Inc., 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, Ca 95014. They would be able to give you the information you want. Otherwise, go to apple.com/legal which might also have what you want.

Nothing.  The 2nd Gen Touch is OBSOLETE and is WAY past its support life.  If you want to run the newer apps you have to buy a newer iPod.

  • I'm just curious, what does Apple name the second hard drive

I got a G5 with one hard drive which was by default named "Macintosh HD". When someone orders two hard drives what does Apple name the second hard drive by default? I'm just curious.
