  • MSI installer not working MSI 5.0 Windows 7

Hello I am trying to get MSI installer to work and when I go to install anything that has the Windows Installer Package it opens Notepad in a scrambled message. I have tried numerous avenues to no avail (regedit, copy paste regedit, troubleshooters, sfc/scannow,
command prompt etc.) I tried to choose the file association of MSIexec in System32 and it just opens this
I have tried what is suggested in this forum
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/f699e632-54ba-443b-85df-269a7fd6cf1a/windows-installer-not-working?forum=w7itprogeneral and regedit says:
I have tried this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso1 and didn't work
I have tried changing C :\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /V in regedit and that didn't work
I have searched event viewer and all that's in there is a warning and information of successful installs and uninstalls.
I have tried %windir%\system32\msi.dll version in Command prompt and it says that the system cannot execute the specified program
I am thinking it is just a matter of finding the correct file association that the windows installer can use to install that program but I am unable to find that!
I did a system restore but the only good restore was from earlier today and it still just opens notepad. before I did the restore I went into services and the computer couldn't find the file (windows installer) so I did a restore and now it at least sees
the file and I can start the service.
Can I please get some help fixing this? would uninstalling MSI and re-installing it work? I have been searching forum after forum and nothing has yet worked.
I did a clean install of windows a couple of weeks ago

    Hi ingenuities,
Try importing these reg file under Safe mode.
If you really need this work, I am supposing the only way is to try importing them manually, if any value key is using by process, use process monitor to filter out these processes and shut them down.I monitored values under MSI.package seems like no
    value was using by system.
I exported msi.package and patch to text, it is from a clean Windows 7 intallation。

  • MSI GE620DX not working touchapd and bluetooth

    good day
I have a question on my MSI
I have a MSI GE620DX where my motherboard deteriorated in version 2.0 which has Windows 7 64bit I bought a new board but in version 1.0 and I installed Windows 8.1 64bit there and not me Bluettoth (constantly on and off), and even not tuchpad ...
I did UPDATE BIOS to version E16G5IMS.10R (build 24.10.2012)
I tried a firmware update but I could not do this while.
I think the problem is in Windows or in BIOS, or is it due to the fact that there is another version of the motherboard?

I installed Windows 7 64 bit Bluetooth works. The touchpad does not work ... does not work with Windows installation and does not constitute key for the touchpad that are on the motherboard ... I have installed the driver MSI SUPPORT still nothing ...
I also tried connectors that go to moterboard
    This is a motherboard: 63-0100-000001-00101111-102010-Chipset $ 0AAAA000_MSI GE620 / GE620DX / FX620DX / FX623 E16G5IMS VER: 1.0r 10/24/2012
    PHOTO BIOS: http://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo/full?photo_id=20705038832
When installing FIRMWARE I progressed through DOS and USB key after opening the "eCall" they wrote: "Target board FileName is different!"
    SCREEN: http://www.photobox.co.uk/my/photo/full?photo_id=20705087535
I read somewhere that you just rename the file "16G5EMS1.416" but then I have written of the file is corrupted ...
    And I have a plate "E16G5IMS" no "E16G5EMS1" ...

  • MSI BurnRecovery not working

    Hello,
When I run MSI burn recovery I get the message "Your Computer's Disk Partitions are NOT Factory Default Configuration. The Application can't Proceed
Here is a picture of my HD config:
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Also, when I try to recover Windows from the Settings app it says there is no recovery environment. When I try to press F3 while booting up it says my computer has hardware that isn't properly configured. That's weird because when I boot up into windows it works fine. I just want to clone my windows and put it on a new SSD I bought. I also upgraded my Windows from 8.0 to 8.1. I have a GX60 021-US.
I also posted this in the Windows support section. I thought this would be a better place.

    Hey Zipper,
Thanks for the reply. However, it has gotten me nowhere because I've already exhausted ALL my options. Does MSI send factory OS installs to their customers? I just want the original Windows 8 that was shipped with my laptop. Burn recovery dead, system recovery to factory default-dead, boot + f3 dead. I don't want to sacrifice a fully licensed version of windows.
I hate saying this, but when you first turn on the computer and set it up, it should have told you/reminded you to make the recovery DVD's.
There's a paper insert inside the box reminding you to make the recovery DVD's.
I really hate to say it, but there's plenty of 'opportunity' and 'reminders' to remind you to make those.
That being said, as far as I'm aware, MSI does NOT send recovery media. You would need to most likely RMA the entire laptop in order to get the factory software restored.
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
Your Windows 8 CD key is embedded into your BIOS, so you wouldn't 'lose' or 'sacrifice' your Windows 8 license.

  • New MSI 570Ti not working.

    Hi guys.
I currently have an XFX 5770 Slim edition in my PC.
I uninstalled the ATI drivers through control panel (HOWEVER don't think they have uninstalled properly because with the GPU still in the PC, my resolution is still 1080p? Shouldn't it have gone too 800x600 or something? + Driver Manager still recognises it as a ATI Radeon 5770?
When I swap it out for the MSI 750Ti, it powers up, the fans spin, but I get 'No Signal' on my monitor.
A friend suggested I should install the drivers THEN plug in the GPU. Internet is suggesting it could be an old motherboard BIOS? (Gigabyte ga-z68a-d3-b3)
I'm baffled really. But I'm not convinced with how ATI uninstalled the drivers.
I seem to remember back in the day on an old PC when I uninstalled Nvidia drivers to install the 5770 in, I had to go through a period where the resolution was really small.
    Any ideas guys?
Also my network adapter on the mobo seems to have stopped working. When changing out the GPUs I forgot to disconnect my PC from the electricity and it stopped it from turning on for 5-10 mins. However I disconnected it, waited and came back and it turned on (I'm thinking about the memory thing the motherboard does).
I've googled the network adapter issue and someone seems to have recommended that one just removes the PC from the electricity and wait a while then it will reset and the network adapter on the mobo will come back to life.
Fortunately I have a USB wifi adapter lying around which I am using to connect to the internet atm.
The reason I have mentioned the network adapter is so that you know what I've been through so far at least.
But yeah, any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
UPDATE: Just an update. I tried leaving the PC unplugged to fix the network adapter but unfortunately still to no avail. It lights up when I put an ethernet cable in it however the PC itself just does not detect anything.
Also when I shut down the PC, it shuts down but power still seems to circulate since fans & lights stay on and I have to do a hard power off.
However my main problem at the moment really is getting the 750Ti to function. Anyone have any clue whatsoever?

    Quote from: badboy2k on 06-October-14, 17:18:44
driver sweeper would do if you have that! the main thing is it probably still has all the regestery keys and some fragments from your HD5770 still floating around in your OS (Un-installs usually leave that kind of trash around in your OS unless you can clean them out using a program to make it like it wasn't ever there)!
let us know how it goes.
    I think it definitely does.
Because this isn't the first time I change GPUs (I've done it for friends etc) and normally when I uninstall drivers, the resolution goes to 640x480 or 800x600. Whilst I am supposedly driverless in 1920x1080 at the moment which surely is proof there is some sort of fishy ATI remains left over...
First thing I'll do when I get home is try to clear the CMOS and hope that fixes the LAN & shut down issue.
Then I'll replace the 5770 again with the 570Ti and see if I can get a signal from my onboard graphics card.
If I do then I'll install the Nvidia drivers through the onboard graphics and hopefully it may mean we crack the issue!

  • MSI VGA not working, HELP

I have installed a geforce 440 64mb ddr to replace an older Viper II video card.  Now I can no longer view the boot process or view the BIOS when I hit delete.  This does not stop Windows from loading correctly.  What could be the problem, since my older video card worked flawlessly?
    My specs are noted below.
    Thanks for your help.

Looks good on the 3.3 and 5v rails but your 12v rail is lacking bigtime and may be what's causing your problem...
You should have at least 20A or better for the 12v rail because of these power hungry parts we're using now...
See if you can borrow a PSU from a friend that has a higher rail amperage and see if that helps...
Antec supplies are great because they've separated all of the supplied rails to their own circuits thus allowing better power distribution to the components. Definitely worth the investment!
    Cheers!! 8)

  • Z77A-G43 drivers from MSI website not working

Hi, I've just built a new computer on a Z77A-G43, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
    Specs:
    i5-3570K
    8GBs of Corsair RAM
    MSI 7850
    120GB Intel 330 SSD - system
    1TB WD Green - secondary
Instead of installing drivers from the supplied CD (except for ethernet drivers), I went to the MSI product page for my mobo for newer drivers. All goes well, except that I can't install the last driver I want - the Intel VGA driver for the GMA HD 4000 that's in my CPU. I read the readme, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. When I launch Setup.exe all I get is this error: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." Running as admin doesn't change anything.
I'm thinking it must be the wrong driver. I looked through Intel's site, but would like to get a tested option here from MSI. I read some other forums of people having similar problems, some can't even boot after installing. I don't want to get into that situation. Could MSI please update the drivers page with the correct drivers? This driver isn't on the mobo CD anyway, so it's the only way to get it from you guys.
Btw, I also noticed the same problem with the Intel Rapid Start driver and I haven't tested the Intel Smart Connect driver. I'm not going to use either one of these, but it's worth noting.
    Edit:
Found the VGA driver on the CD, but same result. Through the autorun MSI interface the VGA driver button in the Drivers menu is unclickable.

I finally got around to installing the VGA drivers for the GMA HD 4000. You don't even need to unplug your discrete card (PEG), in BIOS just switch to initiate IGP and make sure you have an HDMI/DVI/DSUB plugged in to the monitor and scanning for input. If you go to the Windows device manager, you'll see the system is detecting a new graphics adapter. You can proceed with the installation of the drivers as they will now detect the IGP. Then one restart and you're done. Btw, after restarting, if you have your discrete card connected and monitor also plugged in, the video input may fall back to it, so don't panic if you hear the Windows start up sound and see a black screen.
Unfortunately the G43 does not come with any support for Lucid Logix Virtu software, so that was my mistake, when I said I see it all in the BIOS earlier. In the BIOS, all you can do is switch between which graphics adapter you want to initiate and some memory size settings when multi-monitor is enabled in IGP mode. There aren't any d-Mode or i-Mode settings.
Btw, how can I mark this as solved?

Now when I install on client I get an error when the project tries to run CR, below is an excerpt from that error.   Notice that it ALWAYS references Version 14.0, not version 12 from CR2008?  When I go to the files in the ClickOnce install directory on the client machine I check the CR files and all are version 14?  I replaced version 14 files on my dev machine with version 12 hoping that when the manifest is generated that it would pick up the version 12 instead of version 14?  No luck?
I have a deadline that has already passed!  I am in DEPERATE NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP!
    Thanks,
    Jim

You should now be using CRVS2010 Beta 2:
    /people/blair.wheadon/blog/2010/07/29/crystal-reports-for-visual-studio-2010-beta-2-and-runtimes-now-available
Do not use CR 2008 runtime anymore.

  • MSI + GF4 = Not work?

I have heard that Msi motherboards and GF4 isnt working very vell.
    Is that true?

The GF4 Ti series work fine with my MSI board (see my signature).  The Ti's are more expensive, but well worth it.  Get it and marvel at the framerate and effects.  Download demos like chameleon and werewolf from

  • Lost Video, Mouse now Ensoniq ES1371 PCI 128 not work

My sister's computer recently had an unknown breakdown. It is 600mhz with onboard sound running on Windows 98SE. She lost her video driver, mouse driver, and sound driver. I was able to eventually get everything back but the sound. I assumed that the onboard sound was corrupt, so I purchased an Ensoniq ES37 PCI 28 and installed it. It doesn't work either. Before installing it I tried disabling the onboard in Bios and uninstalling all the related sound items in device manager, but that didn't work. In device manager it says that all the drivers are working properly and there are no conflicts. DirectX Diagnostics says that there is no audio driver installed. Windows Media Player says something like "Drivers working properly, but there is an unknown problem with the audio device. Check to make sure the device is properly connected." These were the same error messages I was getting for the onboard sound too. I would really appreciate any help on this. I have been working on it for weeks without hope. Please let me know any information you need to know that might help. Thanks.

Yes I disabled the onboard sound and it wasnt an IRQ problem, I found out the Delta L board is just totally incompatible with Audigy 2 and I am guessing the same problem with my lucent modem, I returned the motheboard *cries* and got a Shuttle MN135N which has worked like wonders =)

  • Reason for msi tabs & live update not working

Ok i had the same problems with my msi video card the msi tabs not working and live update giving me an error. I used to run a asus p4b533 board with a sis chipset> what i found out is that the live update and the tabs work under any m/b that have the intel chipset. I now have a asus board with  a intel chupset it's working fine.  I've tried this on other boards and same results.  It seems that everyone who's had the problem was not using an intel chipset board. This is my theory...

Just reinstall LU, and you should be fine.

  • My KT3 does not work now.

;(   My KT3 main board does not work anymore.  It worked great for a few days, but, only until I installed the chipset drivers that came with the the main board.  I formatted my drive  to fix the problem and could not sucessfully load any kind of operating system. I have already lost faith in MSI main boards because of this.  They SUCK!!!!! So far no one has been able to help me here.  The thing is dead in the water.  Sitting in the garage.  I had to put my old main board (P3 800) back in, so I could have my computer back.  Yes I am mad!!!!I wasted hard earned money.  What did installing the chipset drivers do to my board?  Did it change my bios and the only way to fix it is the replace the cmos chip??  If I remove the battery to the cmos chip, will that erase what I did to it and return it to default settings?  Is this going to be my first AMD and be my last????? Who knows.  I am upset.  Money does not come that easy.  UT2003 is coming out and my current mainboard is too damn slow. Yes, i am a gamer all the way.  I eat, sleep, and live multi player gaming.  It is that need for speed thing.

  • MSI GS70 20D Touchpad not working after login when I upgraded to 8.1

Short situation: I upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1, and the touchpad stopped working on the start/desktop screens. I could move it before I logged in, and after it would work for a few seconds, but then it would just stop. An external mouse works just fine, but I still don't want my touchpad not working.
I looked on the MSI USA technical support page, and it said to delete the old drivers for the touchpad and download new ones. I deleted the drives, but every time I try to download the new ones, I get a window that says my touchpad isn't plugged in, and that the drive isn't compatible with my touchpad, which doesn't make sense to me because I looked up my product specifically and tried all three touchpad drivers. None of them worked.
Now I can't use the touchpad at all because I deleted the drivers, so it would seem that the computer doesn't know it has a touchpad because it won't register the touchpad in my devices tab.
Does anyone know what I can do to solve this? Or to at least get the touchpad to register again? I just got this computer for Christmas, I've treated it very well so it hasn't banged up against anything or been dropped or mistreated, so I cannot understand why this is happening. It worked before the 8.1 update, so I'm pretty sure the issue has something to do with that.

UPDATE: So I managed to fix the touch pad by deleting the driver and rebooting, which is weird because I removed the driver completely and never reinstalled it, so the computer shouldn't really know it has a touch pad. But every time I reboot the computer after fixing it, the touch pad goes back to it's old problem and I need to redelete and reboot all over again.
Also, My computer has begun to randomly freeze and not respond to anything, with one such event leading to a blue screen with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR message. The computer has frozen a total of 6 times, at different moments; when I'm typing on microsoft word, at the login screen, even right when it starts up and the msi loading screen is up. 5 of these times have required a forced shut down, the first time the computer shut off on it's own because it ran out of battery power.
Finally, my computer has begun to periodically for long stretches of time stopped detecting wireless networks and is asking to be plugged into an ethernet cable to connect to the internet. This has never happened to me before, and I know I haven't turned off my network sharing center.
I'm not sure why this is all suddenly happening. It's not like I'm banging my laptop against walls. I'm very careful when I move and use my GS70, so these problems are greatly concerning to me because I just got this computer at Christmas.
