MSI 128mb g4 ti4200 glitches/distortion

Hi.
I,ve had this problem for a few days now i,m sure its affective in most of my games but i'll use quake 3 as an example, ok in game I get minor glitches/stutters/distortion, they mainly happen at speed, i,ve been gathering information from various messageboards on what might be causing this irritation. But its really difficult to single out the cause.
Anyway i have try mostly everything from bios tweaks, all available settings, various detonators.
Also tryed it with nothing running in the background etc.. to no avail.. Now I know my system is capable on running it smoothly. Here's why,
I was uninstalling some detonators to try some other ones, and i accidently installed the windows xp pro display drivers, so i started up quake 3 and everything was fine, (but these drivers are basic and don't have any options, also give weak performance)
so i went back to the latest detonators (back to distortion)
(does this single out my drivers ?)
Anyway today i was told to imput r_swapinterval into quake 3 this did the job!!, but only on quake, and with a major fps drop .
I really hope hat one of you guy can take this info and pinpoint a solution that will give me max fps and performance..
heres the system stats

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb, TV IN Capture

I recently purchaced a MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb (VTD) and im unable to get the tv in to work. Ive installed the nvidia capture drivers and connected the s-video lead from my VCR to my card. Is there a program i need to open or somthing in order to capture?

first. after instaling the wdm driver yous system sholud recognize 4 new devices...
the most important for you is the Nvidia WDM Video Capture (universal) couze it is the device that will by used to capture the video signal....
now you shoul use some program to view the video signal... any editing software should have some module to capture the video.. also if you have a bundled inter video software instal the winocoder as it is one of best (for me) viewers of the video in signal....
to capture the video you can use the inter video software (mpeg1 mpeg2) but try to use virtualdub's capture module as it alows to capture to any instaled codec ...and it is for free (http://www.sourceforge.net), you can also use windows media player if you dont have any other software

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question

does the MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question video card have a sheet of copper on the back side of the video card?

I don't know because I don't have that video card, but on one of the hardware sites I've been to, it says the backplate is simply too light to be copper and they suspect it's copper-coloured aluminum. I am not sure, maybe someone with the card can check it out.

  • MSI P7n Diamond Sound clipping/distortion

I get distortion whenever I listen to songs with high frequency highs. Like machine head's "slanderous" zeppelin's "immigrant song" or other treble-heavy songs. I've tried several soundcards and speakers and the problem is still there.
    What is wrong?

If your using the Creative X-Fi audio card that came with the P7N D., are you by any chance trying to use Creative's 'Retail' drivers? If so, the drivers from MSI update must be used from what I understand. Also, could you post what OS you are using?
Here is a link that may be of help: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=122892.0 It may also be worthwhile to contact MSI with your symptoms, as they may have an immediate remedy.

  • SLI - 2x MSI NX6800GT-T2D256E - Graphic glitches

I have just purchased my second MSI 6800GT and everything seems to be running very well in SLI, except when I go in and out of a few games. The 3 games I mostly play are WoW, Doom3 and COH. What is happening is when I go from WOW to DOOM 3 my screen will have a horizontal section that is completely blacked out and usually starts from the bottom and works its way to the top. If I log out and go into the second game there are no problems. It's a little annoying to restart everytime I want to go into a second game and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion I might not have tried.
So far I have DC my video drivers and installed the latest...have not downgraded.
I have checked all the resolutions in my games so they match my desktop resolution...1280x1024
I have the lastest drivers or bios for the following:
Motherboard asus A8N-sli deluxe 1014 & Chipset drivers
Video card - Nvidia 8185 and bios 5.40.02.30.03
    Nforce drivers 6.70
My system runs 3dmark05 without any issues, so I have just chalked it up to a nuisance issue that might get resolved with future patches/bios

hum.. i have a the same problem..
but just the bottom 1/2 gets a tinge of yellow .. and its only in 3d games  .. with out SLI it is fine i have no problems.. all 4 of my monitors once connected can veiw fine .. but only in SLI and 3d game dose it have a problem..
and i have tryed  other monitors with other D-Sub and DVI conectors
i have even dl'd the lastest drivers and done a few reinstall's
    nVidia 82.12
    nforce 6.69
only problem i can think of is 1 of the MSI 6600Gt's SLi conector is a but hard to get on .. with either J1 or J2 side but the other card is fine
even to the point i have opened both sides of the connector to cheack for bent pins .. there was none

  • MSI-6547 & MSI Geforce 4-Ti4200

I am trying to get a custom built PC working for a mate but I am having problems with the above.
I can install Windows XP ok but as soon as I install video drivers the operating system refuses to boot up it just freezes on a blank screen.
I have looked and before I install the video drivers it say there are conflicts with the SIS Advanced Graphics Port. Only I have no idea what to do about I have looked in the bios and there doesn't seem to be anything in there that can help and I have tried installing the latest SIS AGP drivers but this doesn't help either.
If anyone can help me sort this out I'd be forever gratefull
    Thanks Gavin

the card is firmly in the AGP slot and isn't catching on the Dimm's.
As I've said I can install windows OK but when I try to install the drivers it messes the whole thing up I can only think it is something to do with the conflict between the graphics card and the agp slot only I have no idea how to go about resolving it.

  • DVD Playback problem with H/w accel on Ti4200

    Hello folks,
I have a problem with DVD playback using WinDVD Platinum on my MSI 128Mb GF4 Ti4200 (MS-8700). When I play a DVD with hardware acceleration enabled I get a sort of ghosting or delayed flash photography effect similar to that which gives headlights trails. This doesn't occur with the Detonator 40.72 drivers
or MSI 41.07 drivers but occurs with
the NVidia 41.09s, 43.00s and now 43.45 drivers under WinXP SP1. The problem only occurs with hardware acceleration enabled and has happened with both DX8.1 and 9.0. I didn't have this problem with the 41.09s under Win2k SP3.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution.
    Thanks,
    Morpheus
    System Specs:
    Athlon XP 2000+
    512MB DDR Ram
    Asus A7V333-R
    Soundblaster Audigy Player
    Realtek 8139 based NIC
    Win XP SP1
    DirectX 9.0

Sound is fine its just the picture that has the problem but I have narrowed it down further by downloading WinDVD Tweaker. If I disable DxVA but leave hardware decode and colour selected the problem isn't present. Therefore I suspect something has corrupted my DxVA   drivers however as I originally had 8.1 installed and then installed 9.0 in an attempt to fix this I don't think a reinstall of DX will solve the problem.
    Any ideas.
    Cheers,
    Morpheus

  • 6570-iLSR Lockups

    Hey there guys,
I've got a 6570-iLSR running a 2500+ CPU and 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM and for the longest time - it was bliss.  Everything was awesome and never had a single problem with it... until recently.  I had been toying around with overclocking my MSI 128MB GF4 Ti4200 and the 2500+ CPU  and it wasn't until I started playing with these things that I started to experience random lockups.
I've since restored everything to default (loaded failsafe defaults in BIOS) and reset Ti4200 clock / memory but lockups still persist.  One lockup that isn't random is when I try to run Live Update 3 - it gets to the "Search Mainboard Driver Version" and it will lockup every single time on that.
    I've ran Memtest86 v.3.1 for over 12hrs with no problems, so I don't think it's my memory.
My CPU temp was usually around 45*C but then I took the case off and now it runs around 35*C, so I don't think temperature is a problem either.
I'm totally stumped as to what could be causing this problem and short of formatting windows (running Win XP SP1 BTW) and starting over, I'm out of ideas.
    Help?

    Hi,
In the future you should try "Drive Image" from Powerquest (I prefer the 2002 version on two floppy disks.) I have 3 or 4 Images of my Boot partition, compressed and stored as files on one of my other partitions. One "Clean" XP install with all updates, and two or three with different sets of software on them - I even have different OS's imaged to CD!
You can't go wrong! Takes about 30-40 minutes to rewrite the "Image" to boot partition with no input from me! Sweet!!!

  • Cursor appears during gaming

    Hi guys,
I'm new to these forums, and am having a problem that I cannot find information about anywhere.  I have a GeForce4 Ti4200 and am using the latest NVidia drivers (53.04).
At random times while playing games, a white cursor will appear right smack in the middle of the screen.  The game will still function normally, I'll even still have the game cursor which I can move normally.  The white cursor just sits there in the middle of the screen and doesn't move.  After a random amount of time, it will disappear.  I have been unable to find any combination of circumstances that will cause the error.  It seems to happen completely at random.
This is more of an annoyance that anything else, but has anyone else had this problem, and is there any way of getting around it?

    OK, my system specs:
    2.4Ghz Athlon XP
    512MB RAM
    Soyo K7S5A Pro Motherboard
    MSI 128MB GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP 8x video card
    Creative SoundBlaster 16 PCI soundcard
Win98 Second Edition with all updates
    DirectX 9.0b
Since it happens in several different games, I haven't tried re-installing them all.  Although the problem occurs in several games, lately more specifically I have noticed the problem in both Fallout and Fallout 2, and Battlefield 1942.  This is mainly because these are the games I've been playing most lately.  In the Fallout games, the cursor stays stationary in the middle of the screen, but in BF1942, I will see a white cursor in the middle of my crosshairs, and it moves with the crosshairs.  Again, the problem is sporadic and seems to occur completely at random.
Also, I am not using any fancy cursors in Windows, just the default one.

  • Ti4200 128mb instability... ???

i've read in one of the reviews of ti4200 128mb that ti4200 series cards are unstable... is this true based on the experience of those users who use the card???
** i've been using the card for less than a month but i don't see any sign of instability still... how bout other users???

    What review?
I never had any unstability with any GF4 on my system.
I have seen it quite often on others and systems I had to bang my head and spent countless hours trying to get things working properly. And it's all GF4 cards by several maunufacturers, I could even say it goes back farther than GF2's...what about ATI?
I have a workstation that had NT4 and an Nvidia Riva TNT 2, it had more problems than anything I have ever used, it was simply a defective card as I noticed my other workstation identical in every aspect, never had a problem.
Usually it's on a system that someone upgraded from an earlier version of MS/OS and didn't do a clean install or just simply don't have any experience with computers. A system that was just built and thrown together without any consideration as to how to populate PCI slots, perform due diligence on hardware compatability.
Of course there is the VIA issue, and the Powersupply issue, and the many correct and incorrect ways to load OS and system drivers. What about the n00b? ...ohh I kinda said that didn't I... 8o
I am in no way trying to say it's all from inexperienced users as it happens to everyone at some point and if it hasn't yet, you'd better pack a lunch just in case! Make sure it's non perishables
Thank the stars we have forums and news sites!
    "NeverEndingStory"
    So that's my take, I don't think it's just the 4200 series.
It is one of the better overclockers and a decent bang for the buck in my opinion.
    Sorry, I was bored

  • Ti4200 128MB 8X unusual voltage by 3D Turbo

    My system:
    Intel Desktop Board D865PERL
    P4 2.4b
    Kingston 512MB PC2700 C.L.2.5
    MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200-TD8X (MS-8894)
    1 Maxtor 40GB /ATA133/7200rpm
    1 Acer 50X CD-ROM
    WinXP Home Edition
    PSU is Enermax 300watts
    Here is my problem.
I haven't get the XP service pack 1 and the latest driver for the AGP card. I have installed the 3D Turbo Experience and the program give this warning message:
    Memory Voltage is unusual
Now memory voltage is: 2.52Volt 69
    Please help. Thank you.

I have a two week old rig and have been getting the same error on minimizing the 3D!Turbo window:
    "Memory Voltage is unusual
Now memory voltage is: 2.52Volt 69"
I was running 3D!Turbo v.1001 so I upgraded to v.2.14 (6/3/2003 posting). On this version the voltage, fan speed, and temperature fields are blank and an error message pops up:
    "invalid pNVuClockInit"
The rest of the data fields in the window are visible and changeable. Selecting OK causes Explorer to crash and politely go away.
Any thoughts on how to get 3D!Turbo to behave? Are there any other apps to give temp & fan readings off an MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X board? There's more O/Clocking to be done, but I'd like to have these readings for peace of mind while tweaking. I'm running the 4403 drivers on a modestly O/C'd A7N8X DX 2.0 mobo.

  • Msi ti4200-8x and games bundle

    Hi,
just bought a msi ti4200-vtd8x, and started to play with the bundled software.
Some of the bundled games do not run at all !
these worst are : sum of all fears demo
    and ghost recon.
These install but crash during the game start, just a short moment a black screen, and the back to the desktop.
    my testing sofar :
    Not running in my msi 845e max2blr + ti4200-vtd8x with win98se
    Not running in my msi 845e max2blr + ti4200-vtd8x with win2k
Not running in my ecs k7s5a + ti4200-vtd8x with win98se
They run in my asus k7v133 + matrox marvel G400 with win98se, although a bit slow...
So, do I have a defective videocard, or is the gamesbundle not tested by MSI ?
    George

    Richard,
the rest of the hardware is not very interresting,
    My P4 system :
    floppy drive.
    p4 2.4Ghz 533 fsb + 2 * 512 Mb ddr
MSI 845e max2 blr (lan, sound, raid etc all used)
    2 80G maxtor in raid0
    1 80G maxtor for the OS (win98SE or win2k sp2)
    liteon DVD
liteon cdrw temporarily removed (something wrong with it)
and 1 PCI card : realtek 8029(AS) because I needed to connect to a BNC network.
And of course the MSI ti4200-vtd8x
All bundled in a AOPEN H600A housing with 300W supply.
After inserting the ti4200, I had a stable system, until I
closed my computer case. So I have added some extra fans.
This system refused to run some of the bundled games (SOAF and Ghos recon) using win98se or win2k.
all drivers from the MSI installation CD's
So I tried another system :
    amd athlon tb 800Mhz + 256Mb sdram
    floppy drive
    ECS k7s5a (lan, sound)
    20 G maxtor with win98se
    AOPEN DVD
another AOPEN housing with 250W power supply.
and I put the TI4200 in this system.
    same games refused to run.
So I tried on a third system, to check if the fault is in the games :
    amd athlon xp 1800 @ 1.6Ghz + 1G sdram
    asus a7v133 + raid
    terratec 1024 sound
    realtec 8139 lan
    1 40gb maxtor
    1 80gb maxtor
    2 40gb maxtor in raid0
    asus dvd
    liteon cdrw
matrox marvel G400TV 16Mb agp videocard.
    300W or 350W powersupply.
and those MSI bundled games run !
so this leaves 2 possibilities :
    - msi ti4200-vtd8x is defective
    - bundled games do not work with this newer agp 8x card type.
    George

  • GeForcr 4 TI4200 went bad

I just got the MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 8x agp with 128mb ram yesterday.  Everything was working fine yesterday and running really smoothly.  This morning however, I turned my computer on and the screen was all distorted and when I would move the mouse and other objects it would leave trails and shadows.  I restarted my computer then it worked fine.  About 2 hours later I came back and tried to turn my computer on and I dont get a signal from the Video Card.  I took the card out and put in my mom's puter and i got the same thing.  I believe i need to put in an RMA but i kind of need assistance doing that.
