Msi 6163 Pro

Does anyone could help me, were i could buy the msi 6163 Pro motherboard for replacement of my old one which was totally crash because some of its resistor were damage.  I'm not sure if the cause was overheat, or the board might be defective.  But I still like this board more than the other. 8)

Only with great luck as a used board from a computer shop.
They were not in production for about 3 years now.

  • Problem with a MSI-6163 PRO

Anyone got an idea what kinda problem i have? I have an MSI 6163 PRO motherboard (with latest BIOS update 3.5), a PIII 700 Cuppermine, 3x256 SDRam, i run Win XP Pro, have a 40 gb harddrive and have been running like this for at least 9 months, without any problem. Suddenly it starts to reboot all the time and now i cant even start it not even in fail safe mode, it reboots before i get in.
Its not a Virus, i have virus checked the hardrive, i tryed with a smaller harddrive (6 gb and win 95) and that worked, i bought a new harddrivce (120 gb) Started to format and install Win XP pro and it starts to reboot again, i have tryed chagne memmorys, graphic adapter, net adapter, soundcard everything, i am going nuts! anyone had probs like this??
I would be more than greatfull if anyone has an answer to this.

Thanks a lot Wonkanoby for the help. It didnt help my error but it sure cleared it up. There were several capacitor that leaked, just as the pics on the site you sent  http://www.overclockers.com/tips00140/, it shows clearly on thoose. Cant beleive how that problem can be so big and seems like they are doing nothing about it either.
Well thanks for a great Forum here, and thanks to you Wonkanoby.
The motherboard is dumped... thinking of going back to good old ASUS
    Then its Rock´n Roll agian

  • AGP of MSI 6163 Pro (MSI 6163 Ver2)

Hi..wondering if anyone can tell me if msi 6163 Pro (msi 6163 Ver2) can support GF2 Ti Video Card?
Been thinking of getting the Inno3D GF2 Ti Card, but is not able to find info as to whether it will work on it.

and the MSI-6163 v1.0 can support a gf2mx agp card (it's an asus v7100 deluxe)?. I tried to install it but windows98 can't recognise Cd-rom because it says it is a conflict in the bus controller (the exact address is f000-f000f) and it was no way to make it run well. I had to reinstall the old intel740 8mb agp card, and making so the pc become to run properly just like before installing the gf2mx card. Can anyone help me? I'm getting mad about this... :(
P.S. Sorry for the english that maybe it's not quite perfect

Do you have an idea for this problem    ? The mainboard, the memory module, the pentium (pentium III 500)
No overclocking, default configuration, bios has been initialised ...
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi dude !
I have Msi6163 bx master.... This motherboard support copermine.
Yes..it is a big chance that the problem is related to sdram type memory. I personaly have 512MB of sdram (all 4 slots full) I have mixed sdrams... some are 133mhz, some of them are 100mhz. The bus is overclocked to 133mhz from 100mhz so my p3 650 mhz works on 866 since 2001 year without any problem. I have difficulties to find working sdram on this motherboard when i upgraded it with more memory. Some sdram modules didnt work, some of them has been recognized as half of it, boot problems and so go on... I know that in mynual is written whic sdram must be.
I check now on site http://www.crucial.com/  for the answer for your problem. I found this:
These 168-pin DIMM modules are compatible with your system.:

  • 512 PC133 + MSI 6163 Pro help

Hello. I still use a msi6163 Pro MoBo and I just bought a 512 Mb PC133 SDRAM module (Kingmax MPGC23S-38KT3). The problem is that the MoBo only "sees" 256Mb of it. I only have available DIMM slots 2 & 3 because of a (relatively huge) TITAN cooler mounted on the Slot1 adapter. The CPU is a 566@707 Mhz OC Celeron. My intention was to upgrade the system, because it ran flawlessly for years and I am very fond of it  .
I want to know if there is a posibility to make the board see all the 512 Mb of the SDRAM module. Thank you.

in your case it cannot take ram that big

  • Is my MSI-6163 Pro dead ?

    Hello all
Suddenly, she does not want to boot anymore, it is hard to diagnostic: the 4 LEDS are G/R/G/R but without any other colors before (it should begin by R/R/R/R no ?)
This code means "Testing memory" failed, so I tried with each of my three's in stand-alone, and boot is the same ...
    Please HELP !!!!

    Hi Fredrik
PSU was an OREX PFC-300A (max 300W 12V/16A) and already try with a FSP280 (max 280W 12V/16A) and still G/R/G/R at boot
Concerning the powerful FX , after the crash I've put it on actual PC, and now the videocard is an old Quadro4-380XGL (like GeForce4 series) without power-supply, power comes from AGP bus.
And Yes I confirm: all the fans turn right ...

  • SCSI boot on 6163 Pro ?

    Hello guys
I am not very strong in hardware, but I know SCSI disks are speeder than IDE and SATA ones (but more expensive too ...), so I have a little question :
In the BIOS of my old MSI 6163 Pro (2.0), for the BOOT SEQUENCE option, there is the choice SCSI? Does-it mean I can replace my old IDE 20Go and have a SCSI, with the system on it, and bootable ?
    Thanks in advance.
    $martiz

The only thing I can think of is that the adapter card was needed and the option is in BIOS then it should boot from that drive. I have not looked yet but what does the manual say?
Edit: I just browsed the manual and you just need to set it to the boot sequence you want to use. There are quite a few options so use the one best suited to your needs and it should be OK from there.
One of these I imagine would be the best options since they are the only ones that give you SCSI as 1st boot device: SCSI,A,C or SCSI,C,A

  • 6163 pro cpu upgrade

    Hi
I am currently got a 500 celeron in my MSI 6163 pro v2  with blue sticker with "c" on on the i/o chip.
I need to upgrade my processor as my P.C cannot handle some of my games
Could you tell me what processor will work on it as I have read conflicting sizes
Also will I need to flash my bios, it saysW6163MJ39B4 when it boots up
I have been on cpu support and it says less than what I have got in the celeron range.
Any ideas where to get these chips from as a lot of the main sellers stock the new ones.
    Thanks for any help

  • MSI MS-6163 Pro v.2.0 Hard Drive Support

I have a problem. I bought a 80 gig seagate Baracuda and I was only able to get 40 gigs out of it. I havent updated my Bios because i am not sure if it is going to support 80 gigs and over. I would like to know if the latest Bios update for MSI MS-6163 Pro v.2.0 will enable a larger hard drive support.
One more thing. If i stuff up my motherboard by installing wrong bios and get a boot block is there any other way of recovering the old bios. I could do nothing about my older gigabyte motherboard but I heard you can do something with the CMOS jumpers on ms-6163 if you get a boot block.

  • 6163 pro & 950 Celeron

I wander if my 6163 Pro is going to work with a new CPU that I intend to get from a friend of mine: A 950 Mhz Celeron (it has 126 Kb of L2 cache so I think it's Coppermine based - I don't have a clue on the FSB though). I use the board with a 566 Celeron that I overclocked @ 850 Mhz. Thanks.
I also want to know if a good slocket adapter is to be found anyware.

  • 6163 Pro dead??

    Hey all,
I've been running my 6163 Pro v2.0 board (bios v3.a) for a few years with no problems at all. Last night my monitor suddenly went blank. I tried to restart but got nothing.
I opened up the case and tried to restart again. I saw that the diagnostic led's were stuck at 2) green 3) red 4) green 5) red. According to the manual, it has something to do with the VGA bios or the card not installed correctly.
I'm running a ATI AIW 32MB AGP card. I tried to reseat the card but the same thing happened upon restarting, lights stuck at green - red - green - red.
I've tried a PCI video card, same results. I've tried clearing the CMOS (several times), replacing the battery, pulled every card out of the board except the video card, one stick of memory, two sticks of memory, changed the power supply, and even tried different processors and still no luck.
Is my BIOS to blame or is the board just dead?? I can't try to recover or reflash as the system won't even POST.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    System:
    Intel celeron 1.8 Ghz
    Matrox G400 dualhead 32MB
    Windows 2000
Mainbord: MSI 645 something (6 months old)
    Problem:
I was playing space cadet in windows 2000 when the system suddenly hung up. The picture went into bizzare patterns and i restarted. It froze again and I restarted. Now there is a serie of 9 beeps when poweering on the computer and the beep starts when 2 and 4 are red on the bracket. It stops beeping and 1 2 3 are red while 4 is green. The monitor is blank. Something with the videocard? NO. Tried another videocard, Hercules Prophet 64 MB Geforce 2 and that didn´t work either. Tried to unplug every card except for the videocard and it didn´t work. The funny thing is that it DID started ONCE during boot up but it zone froze again when listening to music.
What is teh matter with my computer?

  • Ms 6163 Pro

    Hello all.
I just purchased a used system and am having troubles getting Windows 2000 or XP running.
    System Specs
    6163 PRO VER:2 (Blue C Sticker)
    Intel PIII 667MHZ Processor
    2 126MB PC100
    1 256MB PC100
    BIOS Settings
    Version: W6163MJ V3.9 090400
    CPU Voltage: 1.65V
    CPU Speed: Manual
    CPU Ratio: X 5
    CPU/PCI Frequency: 133/33Mhz(On)
    Chipset Voltage Adjust 3.3V
    Problem
If the BIOS is set to run at 66MHz the system runs fine but obviously isn't using the PIII 667 MHz chip to it's potential.  When I try to install XP or 2000 it gets to an intermittent point in the setup and then hangs.  Both install CD's work on other machines so there is nothing wrong with the CD.
    Any ideas?

  • Unable to boot with MSI X58 PRO-E and OCZ3P1333LV6GK

     Hi,
This is my first post in this forum.
I've had this system for about 6 months, and from time to time I kept having instant reboots and once the PC would never start, I think I've sorted that by first flashing an old MB BIOS and then the most recent.
Tree days ago I've had another instant reboot, but now the system stops/reboots when the coloured animation starts to appear above the "Loading windows" message. This happens with both Win7 32 & 64 bits and even with the windows 7 installation DVD !!!
I think I've tried all combinations of the other posts where the MB+memory was the same as mine.
Another strange issue is: the memory PN shown inside the BIOS (OCZ3G1333LV2G) is different from the label on the memory (OCZ3G1333LV6GK)!!
I've already tested with only one memory chip at a time, the result is still the same.
I've only got connected the following: Video board, 1 RAM chip, USB Keyboard & one SATA HD. No over clocking whatsoever !
What else do I need to do to finally boot to windows ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Paulo
    My System:
        Mobo: MSI X58 Pro-E, model MS-7522, version 3.1
        BIOS: 8.B
        CPU: Intel i7 920
        RAM: OCZ3G1333LV6GK (6GB)
Video: Sapphire Vapor-X ATI RAdeon HD 4870 2GB
        PSU: Combat Power CP 750W
        OS: Windows 7 32 & 64 bits

    Hi Henry,
    Thanks for the help.
"What are your RAM timings? Screenshot of CPU-Z Memory tab and SPD tab."
I've added a few screenshots of the memory, the SPD & CPU-Z tab, plus a MEM86 test with only on memory stick installed. It appears that the memory is OK... or not ?
"Do you have another video card you can try? Those Sapphire Vapor-X cards have been a problem for others in the past."
I wasn't aware of any problems with this video card, I use it mainly to send movies to my big LCD TV through the HDMI port. I don't have access to another video card, sorry...
I don't know what else to do, do you think it's the PSU ?
    Regards,
    Paulo

  • Building new system, MSI X58 Pro-E, i7 920, GTX 295, 6gb, Thermalright e-120

Hello, I was hoping for some advice on this rig, to overclock or not, etc; Im a bug gamer, so its really about gaming to the max 1st,
    Heres the brand new parts;
MSI X58 Pro-E (In the box, just arrived, do not know bios yet)
    i7 920
    Patriot Extreme Viper PVT36G1600ELK 6GB DDR3 9-9-9-24
    eVGA GTX295 1792mb CO-OP edition
Thermalright extreme e-120 cpu cooler (Jesus that thing is huge)
Im going to re-use this stuff:
2x500gb seagate HDD sata raid 0 for performance
Antec 900 case Lots of fans...nice
    DVD RW
Corsair TX750W Says 60A on a single +12v rail (I think its good, only @ a year or so old)
SB X-FI Fatality gamer sound card
So, basically should I look to OC this setup a bit? maybe to like 3 GHz or so? If so, whats the "safest" method to OC? I have an excellent cpu cooler and a case that has a ton of fans in it so hopefully I should be good for cooling.
Do I just OC the CPU? Will the memory run at its top speeds with this chip? or do I need to do something for the memory also, I recally for some reason on my current PC with a 780i SLI evga mobo I had to set the ram timins manually, they were never picked up properly on "auto", will I have that also on the MSI board?
I hope Ive provided enough information to get started.
    Thank you for any help!
Oh, I plan to build this baby the following weekend as I am working the next 2 weeks straight...meh

    Yes, why not?
Do not be aiming for 3 GHz, you can run that on stock voltage.  4 GHz is more within the grasp of the TRUE 120.

There's only one way to overclock - overclock...   There is no safe way of doing it...

The only way you can overclock a CPU without overclocking anything else is with an extreme edition CPU.  (The i7 965, for example.)  It's overclocked by raising the CPU multiplier, not the baseclock frequency.
With regular CPUs, you overclock the baseclock, which overclocks the CPU core, CPU uncore, memory, and QPI frequency.

    Extremely doubtful.
I hope I've answered your questions.   I can be more thorough if you wish to know more.  Of course, Google can tell you more than I ever could.
