    Im thinking about adding a new hdd on my 6167 board and im wondering what is the biggest size hdd it supports ?
    Ive sent several mails to the support team but no reply yet !!

    Lucid,
    You'll be pleased to hear I have a 120GB IBM DeskStar running happily on my MS-6167 Athlon system. I have it configured as the primary IDE master, with my old hard disk as the slave device.
    If you get any troubles, I recommend ensuring your MSI chipset and BIOS drivers are up to date, using this web site (I am using the most recent BIOS version - 1.6).
    Good luck!

  • MSI-6167 and large Hard disks

    I have a 500MHz AMD Athlon on an MS-6167 Mainboard (Irongate Chipset) and I intend to add a new hard disk to my system, preferrably an 80GB Western Digital. Can my mainboard support a disk of such capacity? If not, what disk size would you recommend as a safe solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Restore dvd and MAX HDD size

    Hi, I assume I have a HDD with a problem, someone gave me this powerbook without DVD s. Used to boot fine but now it just does not. On the apple site I dont see links to buy older (pre intel) OSX disks so I can not run disk utilities or reinstall. Where can I buy and download OSX images that I can create a bootdvd with, from my PC.
    Suppose the HDD is broken, what s the maximum HDD size. Smallest I can get here is 180Gb, originall disk is 60Gb. Here s what is written in battery bay:
    1.3ghz/256Mb/60Gb/Combo/BT/APX

    There are several possibilities if you're in the US - don't know about Italy.
    Get original replacement system discs - You can call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a fee, a replacement set of system discs (if available), can be ordered. However, the discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured.
    Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*. For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) (See Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac? ). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.
    After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
    Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page

    You can also download the Tiger Installation and Setup Guide

    When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
    Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.
    Leopard is the max OS you can install, but Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*.

    You can use the larger HD.

    And this i wonder about too.
    Of course. These are identical boards except for the AC WLAN (Mpower MAX just 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN)

    That is irrelevant for the K cpus in question here as it covers the Haswell Refresh cpus without K already listed in cpu support chart.

  • MSI P6N and max memory

    Hello
    I am having a problem with windows vista seeing my 4 gigs of memory. I only see 3071 gigs no matter what i do. Ive tried the bcdedit /set PAE forceenable but that didnt change anything. The bios recognizes the 4gigs just fine. THe memory is corsair XMS.
    IM wondering if this board supports memory remapping and if it is even worth it to try it.
    I intially was having some issues with the memory and the board  and booting but i got those fixed by flashing my bios to the latest version.

    No way!
    The CPU support 2^32 bit address range.....means it can handle 4GB address-space....
    However, this is NOT the same as memory space.
    A lot of space is taken by BIOS-mobo, BIOS-videocard etc....
    So useable memory space left is arround 3.5 tops....mostly even below.
    Address space is NOT the same as usable memory!
    It also doesn't eat memory, it's just the OS isn't capable of using more then 4GB space in total...
    So use a 64bit OS and the sky is the limit....if you don't mind some problems with drivers and software that are not 64bit. (or very buggy)

    it should do as it supports upto 200GB IDE hard drives so i wouldn't think a 20GB one would be any problem (just one question here where on earth did you get a 20GB IDE hard drive as i haven't seen one of them since around 1998?)!

  • MSI Z97 MPOWER MAX AC compatibility 4790K and XP941

    Hello I'm thinking to buy an MSI Z97 MPOWER MAX AC, but few questions are still keeping me away from it for now.
    1 - I'm thinking pair it with an Intel 4790K
    I've watched the compatibility list, and sadly it's not yet reported.
    I know all Z97 boards will support this processor !
    But... How can I perform BIOS/firmware upgrade, if the motherboard does not see the processor and does not POST ?
    (mainboard ordered online never have latest BIOS ready).
    2 - Thinking to use the M.2 connector with the : Samsung XP941 512GB M.2 NGFF PCIe Solid state drive SSD
    I've read it 'works' on this mainboard, but nobody knows if booting from this device will work.
    So , does Samsung XP941 had been tested ?? Is it possible to boot from it ??
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    Im running Z97 xpower ac with Intel 4790k at 4.7Ghz, 32Gb Corsair Diamond Platinum 2666 RAM and the Samsung xp941 512Gb m.2
    It will boot but I have a speed issue, I only get 400Mb/s and it reports back as a SATA6Gb/s connection
    My manual says the JM2_1 jumper can set the port to SATA6Gb/s or PCIe mode, without stating which is which...
    Tried with it a pin 1 & 2, system refuse to find the ssd, at 2&3 if boots as normal but as SATA6Gb/2
    Without the jumper the setting is AUTO and the BIOS setting descide what to be used then again I cant find that setting in my BIOS v 1,3.
    Any info would be helpful as how to make the mainboard realise it has a PCIe card in the slot.

  • Can apple please make hdmi support for hbo go part of the next hbo go and max go update???

    Hbo and max go need to have hdmi support. Maybe they can make this happen through their next app update?

    No.
    Apple has no control over HBO or over what HBO enables in all.
    Due to what a mess licensing media is, HBO might not have the right to do hdmi out either.

  • KT3 Ultra2 And others HDD max Current

    ok peeps, new to this forum, but not exactly new to computing...
    i tried MSI with this one, but no reply...
    can i safely plug a load of 24mA onto the HDD LED header on my MoBo?  i know this is a 5v line, and as such i am reluctant to put a high current draw on it, as i just know it will make my important 5v voltage a bit wobbly.   should i make a low current switch box to switch the 5v and instead take the current from a 4pin Molex?
    incase anyone is wondering, its gonna power 2 TK CoolMod fans, which are 12mA per fan (for the HD Activity LEDs anyway)  i am gonna mod the power lights onto a 4pin Molex anyway, as i really really dont want lots of 5v load...
    oh, and i have a 400W  HyperX PSU
    there is also, 1 dual channel cold cathode inverter, with 12" cathodes, the 2 TK Smart Fan][s, and a third one on the CPU, two 80mm LED'd case fans (intake) and a cute little CoolerMaster active northbridge fan cooler that i made from an old p3 heatsink i had lying around!

    ok thanks for the information.... however i am a total n00b when it comes to even slightly advanced electronics.   i can make switch boxes, and turn LEDs on and off allong with fans and the like, but much past that and i am lost, i can solder very well thou!   ok, if i follow the AND gate route, and i put 5V in one input, and the HDD 3V (or whatever), will i get 8V at the output?  if so, would i have to put 2V in instead, to get my 5V output?
    the transistor method also sounds pretty easy, however all the cuircuts i have seen using transistors have had capacitors in them connecting to ground and such like...  is it really as easy as u suggested?  any PNP tranie that can take the voltage and current draw would work?
    anyway, you have been hugely helpful so far!  i thought i would have to make a switch box.  i have ages to do this mod anyway, i still havent got my MoBo back from RMA  ;(

  • Need info about max HDD size available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello,
    The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel. What exactly is the limitation of a maximum size of an internal HDD that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30-813?
    Recently, I have bought and installed seagate 160 GB SATA drive, onto which I have successfully installed WXP Pro and have been running it for quite a while with no problems. Recently, I have been copying large amount of data from an external hard drive to my new internal disk, and as the files were being copied as I noticed having about 50 GB free space left, I had experienced windows "delayed write failed" and a massive partition failure with no possibility to recover data. The system would no longer boot and the whole MBR was damaged. As the result, I have lost all data on my new disk.
    Although, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my laptop and that is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am certain that as an end user of a Toshiba product I have the right to know about a max HDD size limitation information for my notebook model. Therefore, I request Toshiba technical support representative to give me a straight official answer to my question.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrejs
    (You may also contact me privately at my e-mail address)

    Hi Andrew
    > The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel
    I think you are in the wrong area if you are looking for an answer from an authorized Toshiba support.
    This is a Toshiba user-to-user forum! You will meet here Toshiba notebook owner and enthusiasts who share knowledge and tries solve problems but nobody from Tosh :(
    I could provide my experience with the M30 Satellite and the HDD upgrade possibilities.
    In my knowledge the Sat M30 supports a 40GB, 60GB and 80GB HDD for sure.
    In my opinion you could use the 100GB HDD but bigger HDDs will not run and functions correctly.
    So switch to a lower HDD size and enjoy the notebook!
    Ive goggled a little bit and found compatible HDD and the part numbers
    HITACHI GBC000Z810 -> 80GB
    HITACHI GBC00014810 -> 80GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2188B -> 80GB
    HITACHI G8C0000Z610 -> 60GB
    HITACHI G8BC00013610 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2183 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2184 -> 60GB
    I hope this could help you a little bit!
    Best regards

  • 6123 - max HDD size

    A friend of mine has a system with a 6123 board in it, and he needs to upgrade his HDD (he only has a 2Gb dive at the moment). He'd like to upgrade to a 40Gb drive, can the board support it? Will it need a bios upgrade? I've looked thru' the latest bios releases (it's an AMI bios) for the board, the notes don't mention anything about HDD support.
    Any ideas, anyone?

    its limit is probably 32 gb as a boot drive
    to boot to it you will probabley have to limit it to that by jumpers,look on the makers web site
    if you used it for storage its not a problem
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/service/forum/index.php?threadid=1438&boardid=16&styleid=1
    he will notice the 7200 speed as well
