You should be in good shape as long as the CPU is Coppermine core not Tualatin.  I found out the hard way.  I paid $16 for a 6309 Lite on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.  Still trying to get it working.
Good Luck!

I have 1 HDD and 1 CD-burner and 1 CD-reader. Now to the problems: When running DxXDiag it´s not possible to test Direct3D, the coputer hangs everytime. I tested my own card, a Leadtek Geforce 3 Ti 200 and the results are the same. Both cards running OK in my other computer.
What to do?? What to test??
    Pleaze help me soon......

if this fails you may as well reinstall operating system.
When bogs dollocks says this, it doesn't mean you should install Windows XP over the top. If you can then you should deffinetly reformat and install XP afresh

  • MSI 6309 ACPI Problem WinXP installed

    Hi folks,
I've used an MSI-6039 v1.0 (the oldest model with a standing CMOS battery) for nearly 3 years. I installed the newest Windows XP lately and the ACPI does not work now, no Standby,no ACPI option in Control Panel , although i've set the ACPI option enabled in the CMOS. ?( And it worked smoothly before in Win 2k. What is more, my cd-rom now can only work in PIO mode after i installed the latest VIA 4in1 driver. That badly decreases the performance of my PC.i've flashed the BIOS to version 1.9,but it still doesnt work.Anyone can help me to solve the problem?
    Thanks a lot!

    disable acpi
hit f5 as xpo install starts when it says hit f6 for mass storage and pick standard pc from list
hey Thats confusing.  Do we hit f5 at install start or hit f5 when it says "hit f6 for mass storage device"
Has anyone figured out why 6309's continuously reboot after insall.

  • MSI 6309 V2.0 Overclock using Fuzzy Logic 4

Hi Folks, I am new here and new to MSI MOBOs.  I have got a MSI 6309 V2.0 Mobo with a PIII 800 CPU.  I want to overclock this using Fuzzy Logic 4. When I try doing this I get lots of message boxs with 'privileged instruction'. ;( Can someone tell me if this MOBO is supported by FL4 ?( and secondly if this MOBO is the same as MSI 6309 'LITE' ?(
    Thanks in advance

The ratio can't be changed while operating.
The ratio the board booted with will be kept.

  • MSI 6309

    Hi,
I've recently "inherited" a MSI 6309 with a Intel P3 850MHz processor. At 1st, when I tried to install WinXP, the system keeps rebooting, thinking that the motherboard may not be able to support WinXP, I formatted the HDD and installed Win2000. But the same problem surfaced.
I don't wish to go back to Win98SE even though it works on this motherboard. So, is there any other way I can remedy this?
MSI 6309 is only able to support processor speeds or between 300 to 700 right? If so, do I have to upgrade my motherboard? or downgrade my processor to the 700 MHz range?
    Thanks!

dun thnk i can enable or disable acpi...the only options i have in the bios under acpi is "S3/STR" and "S1/POS"...
ok, here's my configuration for the bios:-

                                SDRAM CAS# Latency = 3
                                DRAM Integrity Mode = Disabled
CPU in Order Queue = 4-Level

                                       ACPI Standby State = S3/STR

my processor is 850 MHz Intel PIII. i thnk my bios is version 1.51. (how do i check anyway?)

  • Radeon 9000 VS. MSI 6309 (ver 2.0)?? Help

    Hi everybody
I have a BIG problem with my MSI MB and an ATI
    Radeon 9000 Pro.
This VGA card does not work properly with my hardware and WinXP: it shows white dots on the desktop and it is terrible slow.
My MSI motherboards seems to be an MSI 6309 v2.0
    (according to the MSI's Infoview).
I flashed my previous bios (1.x) with the new one
(3.7) but it still does not work
I found the bios version 7.3 working only with the
MSI's 6309 v 5.x. The faq told that bios resolve incompatibilities between Radeon and WinXP.
    What should I do?
Please Help Me!!! I do not want to change my wonderfull
    MSI motherboard!!!
and I cannot change the grapichs card...

Well, I couldn't remember, that I wrote an article about throughbred core athlons on the k7t266pro2.
Biosdevelopment has been discontinued since version 3.6 by massive flamming and discredit and therefore no further versions will be available for any board.

  • MSI-6309-V1.0 Problems

    Hi,
    Firstly here are my specs
MSI-6309-V1.0 (From what it says on the actuall board)
    PIII 650Mz
    128Mb SD133 Ram
    300W PSU
    nVidia gForce 2
I got the above from a mate who had never been happy with it, it was always playing up.
Firstly when it boots the screen remains black, i have to press the reset switch for the gfx card to be initialised.
Secondly, I wasnt sure which version of the 6309 this was so i just did a update using the Live Update.
Originally the Bootup bios version reported; A6309P2 V2.3B2
then after running live update the Hewlet Packard Logo dissapeared and the version is now
       A6309MS v1.9
None of my initial Problems have been resolved, and in addition APM power down doesnt work, so after shutting down i have to manually press the power button.
    Cheers
    Jonas

looks was a HP if had HP cmos, ask ur mate for the case model # where MB came from, go to HP an  get correct bios

I have memory conflicts and bad driver instalation
    CAN ANYONE HELP !!!!!!!!!!

    Hi dazbacon,
Since you're using MS-6309 which is a Pentium III board, I move this thread to the respective Pentium III forum.
First of all can the card being detected by the PC, and PC able to POST? If yes, then it should be drivers problem. What graphics card you used previously? have you removed completely the old graphics card's drivers?

  • Msi-6309 version 1 board - BLACK screen but cd and hd spin

    Hi ya'all
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this problem.
I was happily using windows 95 and my MS-6309 board with 733mhz cpu and 128mb ram.
my Power supply stopped working.  I then replaced it with a better one.  I thought i might upgrade my OS as well.
I then wiped the hard drive and installed windows 98.
Install went well, but on restart got some message about missing .vxd files.
Used another computer to grab the missing vxd files. cool should be able to replace the missing files.
But when trying to boot up the other pc, no go.
The screen stays black, the CD-Rom spins up, the hdd spins as it sounds like it is trying to boot - but then the red led stays red and goes no further.  The LED BRACKET inside the case is Lit RED-GREEN-RED-RED (i have leds in a row rather that a d-bracket)
Can anyone shed some light on this problem.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi
Check inside the computer to be certain that everything is plugged in correctly.  You can even reseat the memory and video cards to be safe.  Also check to see if any of the capacitors have bulged ends or dark stains around their base.  Especially the ones close to the cpu socket.
Clear the cmos by removing the AC cord and pressing the power button a few times to drain any electricity from the motherboard.  Move the jumper to the clear position for about a minute before moving it back to the hold position.  Plug the AC cord back in and try to reboot.

  • MSI-6309 (694T Pro) Temperature sensor locations

does any one have any idea where on this board are the 3 Temperature sensors located?
some sources sugest that 1 is located onboard the Southbridge but the remaining 2 are a mystery
like is the CPU temperature read from the CPUs thermal sensor or is it located at the motherboard ?(
    -Mikko

it can't be a ram configuration issue.. because the exact same configuration worked flawlessly for almost a year..
i tested the volts on the PSU with a volt meter and the 5v and 12v rails measure very close to spec, within 5%
i basically took one of the molex connectors and plugged my  volt meter leads into the appropriate colors (black and yellow, black and red). and i just let it sit while i turned on my computer and did stuff..
is there a better way to test it? if the psu wasnt giving enough power i would expect playing a game or 3dmark or some sort of load would cause the system to crash relatively quickly, and not randomly while the computer is idling and such
thanks for the help guys =D

  • MS-6309 & P3-S 1400Mhz!!!

Hi everybody... I have the MSI-6309 with via-694T Pro  8o chipset, And was thinking of uppgrading my CPU from A P3 (Tualatin) 1Ghz to the P3-S (Tualatin) 1,4Ghz w/512kb. According to the CPU support for my mainboard this is not possible... The highest CPU supported is 1,2Ghz. But i uppgraded anyway and it works just fine. Infact too fine, This CPU is VERY FAST!!!. I have tested it in various benchmarks & it beats both the P4 2Ghz & the xp1800....

Need some info on the 694T Pro.  I just got one and am using it with a PIII 750E (multiplier 7.5 @ 100 Mhz).  I want to know if this motherboard allows me to change the multiplier, or if it is just a feature that is activated in BIOS for Via C3 processors.  The BIOS allows me to "change" the multiplier, which I want to do in order to achieve a higher FSB, but when I boot, it is reported as a PIII 750 at 100 Mhz FSB.  Fuzzy Logic 4 reported 1315 Mhz at one point and 755 later on.  I am currently working after having set the FSB to 131 and the multiplier to 7.0, which should give me a nice 917 Mhz.  Is there any way to run the processor at 133 Mhz bus exactly, in order to run the PCI bus within spec?  I will GLADLY lower the multiplier, until it would allow me to do so, if it actually does allow you to adjust the multiplier on the "multiplier locked" PIII Coppermine 750E processor I have.  Where can I find a utility which will accurately report my CPU speed?  SiSoft Sandra maybe???  WPCPUID?  Where can I get this, and do you have any good resources for information specific to overclocking Coppermine Processors with this motherboard?  Thank you so much for your help.

  • GeForce-FX5200 tv-out and graphic problem...

    Celeron 1 GHz
    Mainboard MSI 6309 v2
    MSI GeForce-FX 5200 128MB
    Windows XP
Does it just software problem ? Or is it hardware problem ?
    Problem is:
When I'm turning on tv-out in nview on my TV screen is very very weird,
it's dark but I can see desktop etc and colours are very weird, looks like
it is showing up in 16 colors.
chkdsk on startup when I do hard reset, screen that should be blue is yellow
and it's in 16 colours too.
    I don't get it. Any suggestions ?
Btw I wanted to try install windows98 and check if this is software problem
but when I type setup and hit enter nothing happen, only black screen and everything
what can I do is restart computer.
Is it really my graphic card ? I hope it's something in BIOS or in software cause I have warranty to this card but I will have to wait 14 days before I will get it back.
    Sorry for my language.
And I almost forgot, one month ago everything was ok and then out of nowhere...

hey guys i had this problem since quite long...even changed my cable 2 times. But now with one setting i have solved half of the problem. Now the video is coming in the TV but no sound. In n97 go to setting then go to phone then go to accessories then go to TV out. Changed Pal to NTSC and it started shoing atleast video on my TV. Can anyone help how to get the sound also.
