MSI 648 S-Bracket

I am intrested in purchasing the optional S-Bracket in order to connect a 5.1 speaker setup to my MSI 648Max board. However I am unable to find an online retailer that actually sells this S-Bracket. Where can I find one in the UK?

  • MSI 648 max problems, please help

Just put a new machine together and I am having some problems, hopefully someone can help.
My machine seems to run pretty stable in OS, but dies when any game is played. It will crash anywhere from 2 minutes - 45 minutes in the game. Ive tried several games: C&C generals, unreal2, etc with the same results.
Bios are updated and nothing is overclocked. Win XP is fully updated.
    Specs:

Well my roomate cancelled the memory test after 12 hours, so I dont know those results.
I do know that after removing 1 of the DIMMS, the machine seemed to be stable playing games.
I sure wish MSI would have stated it only accepted 1 double sided DIMM.. especially when the reccomend Kingston ram, which is double sided......
Me and my roomate BOTH bought this motherboard, while my roomate only bought 2 DIMMS of 512, I bought 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So now it looks like we need to return these motherboards and get new ones... I HAVENT EVEN GOT MINE OUT THE BOX!!!!!!!!
Any reccomendations on an MSI motherboard (or any) that support  double sided DIMMS? I am looking for 3 slots...
    thanks...
Any other advise on how to get this motherboard to work with all this ram would help too, so we dont have to RMA through newegg....
Anyone from MSI read this board?????

  • Overclocking on an MSI 648-E Max

    Heres are my pc specs:
    P4 2.4Ghz B Processor (533Mhz FSB)
    80GB Seagate Baracuda
    MSI 648E Max ( Bios 1.5 - No HT)
    512MB DDR333 CL 2.5 Ram
    300 Watt PSU
    Geforce 3 Ti200
    Heres the prob :
My FSB is @ 133Mhz, but as soon as i increase it above 140, the system becomes very unstable. Anything above 145 and the system does not boot.
I have my Ram set @ Cas 3 , Normal Timing, MA1, 2.6V and @ 167Mhz.  I have even tried increasing the CPU VCore to 1.575 and the DDR to 2.8 - alas it does not work.
I want to atleast get the CPU to about 2.6 Ghz stable.
However, im not sure where the problem lies - ive tried just about all the options in the bios.
Is there perhaps something i can do to fix this?
    MY PSU Says the following:
    +3.3V - 15.0A
    +5V   - 25.0A
    +12V  - 12.0A
    -5V   - 0.6A
    -12V  - 0.6A
    +5VSB - 1.5A
Oh and my Ram is Apacer with Infineon chips on it. Please help - thanks

Don't bather yourself I have the same problem.
MSI FAKED US ALL A BIG ONE.
The problem is in the option AGP/PCI Frequency (MHz)
It doen't work and my clue is:
1- When I adjust my CPU FSB more than 110 MHz (PCI > 36.66 MHZ) and set this option to 66/33 the computer boots normally until it starts loading the O.S. and errors saying that the OS cannot start due to lost system files, or Read
Write error to Aux device, or it hangs.
2- When I set this option to 80/40 and the CPU FSB to Auto (100 MHz), the computer boots normally and load the O.S. normally and everything goes just fine. and Sandra software reports the PCI clock frequency as 33 MHz.
Thats to say that the PCI/CPU FSB ratio is fixed at 1/3 regardless to any value selected in this option.
    My system is:

  • MSI 648 Max - Display Problems

I recently bought the MSI 648 Max motherboard, as my system needed an upgrade quite badly.  To cut the costs down a bit, I’ve used some parts from my previous system (eg the video card which is an 2x AGP, 64 Mb, Kyro based card) but got new RAM, CPU and psu.
I put together the system (described below), loaded Windows ME, updated all drivers with latest releases, and the thing works but the quality of the display is really bad    ;( .  That is, I get lots of video artefacts (shadows, fading text, vertical lines, distorted colours, etc).  The video card was working fine on my other machine.  Also, Sisoft Sandra says that the card is operating at 2x AGP, as it should.
I am not overclocking; some of the BIOS parameters I used are as follows (based on the OPTIMAL DEFAULTS):
    AGP Aperture Size                     128 Mb
    DRAM CAS Latency                      by SPD
    Timing Setting Mode                      NORMAL
    MA 1T/2T Select                      AUTO
    Primary Graphics Adapter      AGP
Allocate IRQ to PCI VGA      NO
    CPU/DRAM Frequency Ratio      by SPD
DRAM Frequency                      167 MHz (for now)
    CPU Frequency                      133 MHz
    AGP/PCI Frequency                      66/33
    DRAM Vcore          2.6 V
    CPU Vcore         AUTO
The system temperature showed in the Health Status is less than 40 C (104 F).
I have tried the latest AMI BIOS (version 1.3), and then reverted to version 1.0, but I still have the same display problem.
I would really appreciate some help.

  • Intel 3.06GHz on MSI 648 Max L

    Hi,
I have a question; if I were to purchase in the future a P4 3.06Ghz processor which supports HT, will it work on my MSI 648 Max without hyperthreading just as a normal processor? I understand that hyperthreading does not work on this board (the one without the udated chip). I'm just curious if the processor itself is supported. I don't see why not, it should just work as a single 3.06 processor. Thanks in advance.
    Razvan Scutaru

I have the 3.06 running in mine , and the board is the one that does not have HT.. and it works just fine..
The only thing that I have found is that you cannot run 400 mghz ram in it with spd setting.. you will have to go and set up the setting manual and then it will work.. don't ask me why I can't find it out..lol..
But other than that it is one fast computer..
also if you set the ram setting to anything other than  the fast setting  it will default back to 2.5 on the cas setting..
But after running bench marks I can't see any improvement by running at a cas of 2..
Also if you have a black screen when you are working with the bios you will have to clear them and reboot .
I had one that gave me problems but it was the PSU that was causeing it.. 400 wat but in real load it was only putting out 328 wats..  and that will not work with a 9700 pro in this board.. at least it would not on mine.

  • MSI 648 HT READY-BUY WHERE?

Can anyone tell me where I can buy an MSI 648 HT Ready mother board.  I bought the MSI 648, but I have a p4 3.06 and want to be able to use the HT.
    Thanks

No worries.  I returned the 648 and got a super micro.  It was more expensive, but the super micro does what it says it does.......   :P
Yes, MSI is a bit mysterious with the HT ready boards.  Not only is it impossible to find the 648 HT ready, but also the 655 HT ready.  Very sad indeed.   I would have prefered the MSI, only because it has a few more features.  But the super micro board supports HT, has 8x agp, so I go with that.
    Bummer.

Oh jesus. Sadly, I visited there back in 2006. I had a great time back then. Now I think I'll stay away. >.<
That being said, yeah, there isn't much you can do. I've had people paypal me money and then purchasing the part, and forwarding it to them (they were in AUS though).
Not sure I can do that this time around again though. I'll be gone for a week too starting on Sunday, so yeah, I wouldn't be able to get to it for another 2 weeks. =/

  • Windows XP and MSI 648 Max

Can anybody give me a good tips, whats wrong when Windows XP installation (BSOD) failed on a computer with MSI 648 Max, I can see that is many in the some siuation as me. But no one of the solutions looks like i good one. Is it somebode that have find out the problem, or?

Its a good idea, but the RAM that I use is the same thats worked fine in the computer earlier. Its DDR DIMM 3100 TwinMOS, and thats a good stuff if I know it right?.
I have tried to take out the harddisk and placed it in another computer, and installed Windows XP. After that I placed the harddisk in the computer with the MSI motherboard, and I get I/O error and it couldnt red from the harddrive. I think that its the 250 watts powersupply, as the problem. I have looked i BIOS and under PC Healt, and there I could see that the +12 V  and -12 V will only give +/- 11-11,5 V. Now I have purchase I new bigger powersupply, and hope that gonna fix the problem.

  • Msi 648 monitor blackout

    Hope i can get help:
have the specs below.  No overclocking.  windows boots up fine although i did get a couple of times (though rarely) the keyboard lockup at the windows log in screen.
    P4 2.4

    256MB PC2700 DDR
    Maxtor 40GB 7200 HD

    Pioneer 16x/48x DVD
    MSI 48x16x48 CDRW
    Windows XP pro SP1
    Enermax 430W
problem is when i play any game (and a few times during windows sessions), the monitor turns black after some time but the fans, etc. are still running.  need to reset the system each time.
other than that, everything seems okay.  i tried disabling write combining, video acceleration, change video drivers, tried a selective boot without the startup item, test the memory memtest86, disabled onboard sound, peripherals, got the latest drivers/BIOS for everything BUT i still get the same problem!
don't know if it's the mobo, video card, or what.
    can anyone help?

    Same problem:

    But Turkish.
In this topic :he changed everyting (cpu, mobo, ram and 3 different inno3d ti4200 8X)
And he tried to different Pc, same problem.
He is working on nvidia bios editor for disable to agp fast write.

  • MSI 648 MAX + 3Gb Memory

    Hi,
I have put three GB of RAM in a PC containing a MSI 648 Max motherboard.
The memory is 3 * PC2100 1GB of Samsung 266 DDR RAM.  I've ran memtest
(http://www.memtest86.com) to test the chips to test the chips individually
and in blocks of two.  The machine runs fine with up to 2GB, but fails
    when all three are in.
I have two identical machines (and two sets of 3GB RAM), which exhibit the
same problem, memtest failing at the same time.
The machines run P4 2.4Ghz processors.
    Can you help?
    Thanks in advance

  • Problems with MSI 648 Max

I have problems with my sons MSI 648 Max Mainboard, everything seems to be alhright, but when I upgraded the BIOS version to the lastest. the computer starts to hang. I have also but a new harddisk in to the computer an some more RAM. I think the problem begin in the powersupply, its just a 250 W powersupply to the computer, and we have av 1.8 GHz Celeron. Have anything had this problem, or is it something I should think about after the upgrade of the BIOS?.

I know that 250 watt is to small, but the computer have function great in 2 months. But after i have taking out the old harddisk and but in a new bigger one, and placed some more RAM (256). After that I installed Windows XP on the new harddisk, but after that I upgraded my BIOS version to 1.4. After the upgrade of the BIOS the computer starts to freeze after a while. I tried to reinstall XP but the computer freeze under the installation. I have tried to switch back to older BIOS version, but I cant make it work. I have really hard to believe that the powersupply is the reason why the compter freeze.

  • MSI 648 Max and ipods? Prob's connecting.

    Please can anyone help?
I have a MSI 648 Max board with on-board usb2 and have problems connecting to my 4G 20Gb iPod. I'm pretty sure it’s the USB connection that is the problem. Has anyone else had this? Can anyone suggest anything to help? This is my last port of call before I’ll have to folk out for a Firewire card which I really don’t want to do.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for replying  .
I have used USB for a number of devices (Printed/Mouse/DigiCam) and have never had any noticeable problems. I’ve tried the disconnecting thing and it didn’t seem to have any effect.
I thought it might be something to do with iPod’s not liking on-board USB and decided to post a topic here to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. Doesn’t seem to be much talk of iPod’s though. I wondered if MSI knew of any problems.
I have been around a few iPod forums but not many people seem to be using on-board USB.
Keep the suggestions coming though. Thanks.

  • Msi 648 max working with ati 9700

    Hi,
I got it working (100% no crashes) today on windows 2k adv server:
    msi 648 max (6585 early version), ati 9700 (1st version), and mostly the latest drivers/software, e.g. msi mb bios v1.2, sisagp47.exe, siside47.exe, ms directx9 (dx90_redist.exe), wxp-w2k-radeon-7-83-030120a1-007447c-efg.exe, control-panel-7-83-030120a1-007447c-efg.exe.
Before you get happy, now I want to replace the 648 motherboard with something better. It is a total waste of money to try running an ati 9700 on an msi 648 max.
Summary: I had to set my DRAM memory clock to 2.5, fast write off, and agp to 4x. There are a bunch of other bios settings and ATI control panel setting to keep it from crashing. If anyone is pathetic enought (like me) to want more information, then post your questions.
The only reason I'm posting my results is because I got all my help from people on this board. BTW I'm running Corsiar CMX512-3200C2 (at 2.5 sucks), and Antec Truepower 550w power supply (which is not p.o.s).
Good luck and save your money....
    Thanks all.

    Hi,
I agree. My Bios is at version 1.2 because I flashed it a couple months/weeks ago and that was the current version at the time. Now they have up to 1.4 but I did not need it.
    Bye.
