MSI 648F NEO SiS AGP trouble/wont detect nvidia FX5200

Hi!
I recently did an emergency build using the 648F Neo (my old syntax board died).  Everything went well, but when I went online I noticed my graphics were very choppy.  I checked my Display settings and noticed that my nvidia fx5200 wasn't even being recognized!
I went to the Device Manager, and saw that the 5200 wasnt listed their, either.  However, I did notice that under "System Devices" there was a listing for "SiS Accelerated Graphics Port", and this listing had the yellow-dot-with-an-exclamation-point warning attached to it.  However, when I right clicked on it, and checked the driver, it listed the driver as "5.1.2600.2180" , with a driver date of "12/9/2004".  I used the driver off the Cd, and off the MSI website, but with no different result.
The device manager also provides me with this info: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
When I try to download the nvidia driver, it informs that it could not detect any drivers that are compatible with my current hardware.
Any suggestions?

Here's where we stand:
I got rid of of the drivers i had installed, both AGP and Nvidia.
I started in safe mode, and reinstalled SiS AGP driver ver. 1.21
I then tried to install the nivida drivers.
Same result: "could not find drivers compatible with hardware" etc.,
My device driver screen shows that the Sis Accelerated Graphics Port fails to start ANYTIME I have 1.21 loaded up.  Should I try an older version?  Even if i dont try to install the nvidia drivers, I still get the exclamation point warning that the SiS AGP failed to start.

  • MSI 648F Neo with ASUS N7600GS video

    Hi!
When my ABIT KD7 motherboard died, I changed to a MSI 648F Neo motherboard. The problem is that the MSI works fine with a GeForce FX5200 video card, but won't even boot with a N7600GS.
My ABIT KD7 worked fine with both of those cards.
    MSI motherboard supports AGP8x, N7600GS is AGP8x.
MSI chipset is SiS 648FX - which is a universal 1.5V AGP 3.0.
    N7600 - Universal 1.5V AGP 3.0 Card.
Does anyone know what is the problem? Maybe I need to update something or the 648F isn't compatible with a N7600GS?

Please update your SIS system driver.

Did it. Same situation, only when I changed it back to my older video card the first time I turned on the PC it started beeping like crazy and I nearly shat my pants  But I reinserted it and everything is back to normal.
I think this is just one of those rare situations where the 2 compatible things aren't compatible.

The current model closest match which I can find is
MSI 661FM2-LSR Socket 478 SIS 661FX Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
    Specifications here
It will be similar in many regards and will support your components but only has 2xmemory slots.
Maybe you can choose a mainboard which you like the look of and post the model number so I can see if it might be compatible.
i think i will buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130467 that one. Does it work?

  • Msi 648F Neo - standby

Hi all! I am new here so I would like to greet you!
I have 2 questions for which I would really appreciate your help.
    1) I have MSI 648F Neo motherboard. Do you know how I can enter in stand-by mode? Also, do you know how I can keep the network running when I enter in standby mode?
Just to explain, I have recently installed a remote-communication software in my office PC so as to check my e-mails from my home PC. However, I would like to set my office PC in stand-by mode when I leave from the office (so as not to consume too much electricity) and be able to wake it up from my home PC when I use this software. I suppose that the only way to do this is for the network to keep running when the PC is set to stand-by mode. Do you have any idea how I can do this? (or generally any other idea that may help?)
    2) Recently a friend of mine has given me a 100gb hard drive. However, this hard-drive is SATA and my motherboard has only IDE outlets. Do you have any idea how I can connect the SATA hard-drive to my MSI 648F Neo mother board? (through USB maybe? or through any IDEtoSATA adapter?)
I thank you very much in advance for replying to my questions and I really appreciate your assistance.
    Michael

in BIOS Power Management settings, set standby/suspend mode to "S3". look for "Wake on..." options, and enable as desired
in Windows, go to Power Options in Control Panel. you can set your computer to go into standby mode automatically if not used for a period of time. you can also change the behaviour of the Power button on your case, to enter standby mode instead of shutting down

  • MSI 875P NEO FIS2R AGP problems

I have just purchased an MSI 875P NEO FIS2R motherboard and there is a sticker covering the AGP slot which says "Please use only 1.5V AGP cards to avoid pernament damage to this mainboard". However, on the website it says here http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=434
"One AGP slot supports 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V
(3.3V is not supported)." I want to use 8x agp @ 0.8v and the website says this ok but the sticker on the AGP slot on the motherboard says only 1.5V. Is this a mistake on the website or on the Motherboard and is it possible for me to use 8x AGP @ 0.8V without damaging the motherboard?
I want to use an ATI radeon 9800pro.
Anybody using 8x agp @ 0.8V and have they have any problems?

  • MSI K9N Neo (AM2) memory troubles

Hi guys, I just got a new system which is having some issues, and I'd appreciate any suggestions on what could be wrong.
At first, the system simply crashed during OS boot. A quick test with memtest86 showed 50-60 thousand errors on a single run, so I asked at Corsairs site, got the recommendation to up the voltage to 2.1V. The memory got a whole lot more stable, but still showed a few dozen errors per run.
So, I proceeded to test the modules one by one, and found them operating well as long as only a single module was inserted (no errors on a 12+ hours run). I moved them around, tried different dimm slots, but as soon as both modules were in, there were errors ranging from a few to several dozen per memtest pass.
    The system specs are:
MSI K9N Neo (nforce 550 based)
    AMD Athlon64 3500+
    Corsair Value Select 2048MB PC5300 kit (2 1GB dimms, 667 MHz)
    Geforce 6600 video card.
BIOS settings are defaults (memory timing set from SPD) with memory voltage increased to 2.1 volt as per Corsairs suggestion.
Any suggestions? Is the MB shot, should I get it exchanged, or could there be some other problem?

    Hi Raider,
I would not run in dual channel mode until you get at least one stick to run w/o errors in Memtest86. I had a similar problem with different memory but the same MSI K9N MoBo. Sometimes it passed and sometimes it did not. My two problems were (1) power supply, only 350W, so I jumped up to a 500W, and (2) memory timings. The MSI site said the MoBo has trouble with SPD timings. So try moving the mem speed down a whole bunch, like 166Mhz or 133Mhz clocking first. If it passes all mem tests, then move the clock back up and try to look up the memory timings for your memory and type them in manually in your BIOS. For me, I went from 2.5-3-3-8 2T  to  3.0 5-5-8 2T and it ran forever.  From Windows I used CPU-z to see the memory SPD and timings and set it to the lower settings from CPU-z to make it work the first time. This week I am taking back the memory to the store because it won't run at spec.
    Good Luck

  • Msi 648f neo temperature problem

ive got this new pc with a p4 2.8 ghz but i don`t know if corecenter is displaying cpu temp correctly.. my cpu goes over to 85C during heavy loads.. and in the bios it start normally at 65-69 C..
or anyone know of a site with intel original fan/heatsink? i know my heatsink is from intel thats for sure but don`t know if it is for my 2.8.. maybe for a 2.4?

    Try http://www.intel.com
I think the same cooler is used until you hit the 3.2 G. I don't know anything about your board, but if these temps are correct something is very wrong. Is there a thermal pad between your CPU and heatsink. This is intel standard, it could be it didn't get installed.

  • 648F NEO L - performance vs. crash

    My PC:
    MSI 648F NEO L (BIOS 7.3)
Intel Celeron 2GHz Box (think Northwood is codename)
    512 APACER PC3200
    80Gb/7200rpm MAXTOR
    MSI GForce 4 MX 440 FX8
My problem is in installing new OS (trying WinXP,2000,98, Linux)
When installer copying basic install files, the PC simple stop, I don't know why
When i change cache to WriteThru policy, I can install OS but it's something about 4 hours of inst(not acceptable for this machine;o).
When I received this MB+CPU, I have that same problem. After 3days combinating BIOS settings I have lucky and my PC go verywell (but I don't know what i do) and work good 5 months
Yesterday I cleared BIOS and the problem is back. When I try reinstall os, it freeze on copiing basic os install files.
    Windows freeze after loading mup.sys
p.s.: my english is very bad, I'm sorry
    Matej

Go into the BIOS and Set the DRAM (VDIMM) Voltage to 2.65 or 2.7 Volts, as this Should Help ...Now I dont Understand , Are you Trying to Install ALL of those Operating Systems onto the Same HDD? Or you are saying that you have tried installing All at one time or another, and None of them Remained Stable?.............Sean REILLY875

System restore? You need to find out what's causing the problem and you have too many things connected to it to be able to figure out what it is, always start with a basic system - video, primary hard disk, cd + fdd, no more and nothing else connected. Then when something goes wrong along the way you'll have more chance of narrowing it down if the problem appears.
What you'll want to do now is disable/uninstall/unplug any additional non-system-critical components that you have connected to it such as extra usb slots, printers, scanners and anything else. Keyboard, mouse, video with no sound and see if the problem persists. If it does, try another video driver. If it's fixed then reconnect/enable one device and try again until the problem reappears and you can find out what's causing it -- unless you can speed read that message quickly before it shuts down
Now that I think of it, have you set the OS to not automatically reboot on any errors? That might keep the BSOD up there so you can note it down and hopefully point at the problem instead of going through all the above hassle ^^

  • How to disable AGP Fast Write with MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ??

How can I disable AGP Fast Write with the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ? I can't find an option for this in the BIOS !

You wont usually find this option in most MB BIOSES , as the only Option that SOME BIOSES Have is the Option to enable, disable SBA (Side Band Addressing) for the AGP Bus....In order for you to Disable or Enable the FW, You Must have the Option in your Vidio Drivers Controll Panel.....If you have a NVIDIA Card, you Must go to  http://www.guru3d.com  And Download the program "NVHardpage" and then Open the Program and you wil have the Choice to Enable these options and they will then appear in your Vidio driver CP >> "Activate "Coolbitts" (this is NVIDIAS Overclocking Utility) Activate "Harware Options", and then Activate "AGP Options" and finally Activate "Performance Options"........If you have a ATI Card then you must Download one of thier "Tweeking Utilities".......I will Post the Direct "Link" for NVHardpage in a Minute, just say yes to the Lic. Agree. and download......Here>> http://download.guru3d.com/nvhardpage/  ...........Sean REILLY875
