MSI 651M Combo-L
Just installed an MSI 651M-L motherboard with a 2.0 Ghz Celeron processor. (All new)
Turn on for initial boot and nothing. CPU fan comes on, power supply fan on, Power switch and HD LED on, but no CMOS boot. CD ROM and CD ReWriter trays will not open although lights are on. If I disconnect them from the IDE cables, trays open and close.
Tried different RAM, different video card, different monitor, nothing works.
There is not a beep, nothing. Is this just a bad board?
What is the D-bracket status ?

3) Sound from speakers blurted out loud...
4) Screen Froze up... no Ctl-Alt-Delete...
5) Power button... No response...

RES:: No signal to monitor... LED Light on case turns on for about 10 seconds... CD-rom LED turns on as if BIOS... Then computer turns off... Fans Still working...
THOUGHTS:: Since the speakers are powered through the sound card (and were on at time), then when the Split Mini-Jack Dongle from daughter card, was plugged back into the Line-In Mini-jack port (where it was origionally)... Something shorted out... Any Ideas on what, exactly...?? Anyone heard of this before...?? I've never seen something like this before, and PC's have changed SOOO much over the last few years, that I'm kinda in the dark... But this is my girlfriend's computer, and she has a Mid-Term paper due on Monday (today being Saturday), and I'm in serious trouble right now... PLEASE HELP...!!!
The company that built the computer, doesn't seem to be in business anymore...!!!
(But the waranty sticker is still intact on the case, she doesn't want me to cut it unless the builder is definitely out of business...)
Basically... I'm Screwed...!!! I need your help...!!! SOON...!!!

MSI 651M-V SiS 651 having trouble finding audio drivers sis 7012
Hey there folks....
I recently aquired a 2nd hand computer, which came wiped clean with no disks for drivers, no info etc...
I've been having a hell of a time tracking all the drivers down, and I am currently trying to track down the multimedia audio device drivers... With no success.
When I use MSI live update it has no options for audio device drivers, I've tried downloading SIS 7012 audio device drivers and I get an error... I'm assuming this is because the drivers are for a card, not onboard...
Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated... I've managed to find drivers for everything I've tried so far... but this one has totally stumped me and i am getting real frustrated!!!!!

MSI KM2M Combo-L (601-6738-010)
I’m running into some application errors, and the main suggestion is to lower the RAM’s Memory Timing to something Less Aggressive...
The problem with that is I don’t see any option in the MSI KM2M Combo-L Phoenix 6g BIOS...
Basically, I’m trying to “Underclock”... NOT “Overclock”...
Any ideas...??
(I tried “searching” the forums, but I’m not finding anything, other than people asking “Why would you want to do that...??” Those types of responses aren’t very useful...)Hi
The KM2M Combo L bios under Dram Clock/Drive Control allows some adjustment of the memory timings. I suggest that you run it with the Dram Clock set by Spd (default). If you still have errors, run memtest for a couple of hours to check your memory. -
MSI 645 Combo on 8X FX5200 AGP
Hi does this MOBO (MSI 645 COmbo) Supoort Geforce FX5200 8X AGP?
It start normally when there's no driver installed on WIN XP. Then I download the latest NVIDIA driver from Nvidia website & installed it then the my PC Hang during bootup. I don't even seen the Starting WIn XP image, I mean the black screen with a Win XP Logo & Blue Line moving.
This is my spec

MSI Geforce MX440SE / Asus V9520 Magic/T (FX5200) 128MB

Intel Network Card
Maxtor 80GB
Is there any incompatible of my hardware or just the Mobo doesn't support it?
Please Help Thanks.I have a similar problem, in that there is startup screen corruption, and graphics corruption. Granted I'm running WIN98SE so at least it starts. Several restarts and the occasional driver reload get it going, after which it's fine.
I've looked at Ram timings in safe and normal, AGP APERTURE (128), Oveclocking (none used) using the latest 52.16 drivers after using detonator destroyer to get all the sticky bits of code from Nvidiot out, and eventually replaced the card with the previous fan cooled XFX fan cooled 440MX ge4. It runs fine now.
The removed non fan cooled PV-T18K-QTHG GF4 440MX AGP8X 64MB DDR TV card is now in my P3/500 on a Soyo 6BA+ Mobo........where it does the same blessed thing!!!!
Possibly not an MSI problem, but an old driver removal/ conflict issue.
I've asked MSI tech support, and XFX tech support for a clue, but no replies yet.
I've also asked CCL computers, who supply all me bits for a clue. Just sent tonight.
If I get an answer, I'll post.
You have my sympathy.

I wanted a new combo drive for the MEGA 180 and though id play safe and get one made by MSI to be sure its compatible -> http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/optical_devices/dvs/pro_dvs_detail.php?UID=563
With this drive you get a few different coloured front panels or as MSI call them "active panels" one silver, one black and one white. Great i thought i'll put the black one on since most of the MEGA 180 is black.... so 20 min later everything installed and put back together. Then i click eject and "CRUNCH" the disk tray end panel doesnt fit through the front opening in the MEGA 180....which is dissapointing since its an MSI drive!!!!......and means another 20 min taking the thing to bits and then having to cut a few mm off the bottom of the black panel and putting it together again.
Once installed the drive works fine...but to work at the highest speed (x52 rather than x48) you need to press a button on the front of the drive.....which isnt easy on a MEGA PC.
Im sure a lot of people want a combo drive for their MEGA PC's and MSI really could have done a bit more testing here to ensure that all there products are compatible.

MSI X52P Combo Drive Problem...
Hello all
I recently purchased the MSI X52P Combo CD-RW / DVD-ROM drive to replace my old CD-ROM drive. Installation went well, XP Pro booted up, installed it's own ATAPI COMBO52XMAX driver and the drive appears as DVD/CD-RW Drive in my drive listing as expected. The only problem is, it will not read any disc in a normal XP Pro boot.
After investigating, the drive reads discs perfectly using my old Win98 boot disk which uses a different ATAPI driver (the drive flew through a dir *.* /s on the bundled 600MB odd Nero CD in seconds) and also works perfectly in Safe Mode.
As it worked perfectly in Safe Mode I took that opportunity to install Nero. I then rebooted and discovered that I can use the drive to burn a CD with Nero in normal mode (which reads perfectly in another drive) but again in normal mode won't read any discs including the one I burnt. I'm just trying to remember what the differences between Normal and Safe Mode are. They both use the same driver but doesn't SM use Real Mode Drivers?
Anyway, so far I've tried...
Every combination of IDE channel / master slave setup possible.
Updating the firmware, it's now the 1.40 version.
Checking this forum, seems other people have had similar problems.
A bucket load of things that perhaps only mad people would try.
For the record, there are no device conflicts and AMIBIOS reports it as VER 1.40 ATAPI COMBO52XMAX on boot up. Note, I have been building / tinkering / playing with PC's practically all my life but this is really the first time that I have been stumped with a hardware problem.
Any help / suggestions / ideas would be greatly appreciated. I know the drive works perfectly, just not in normal modeAHA!
Getting somewhere.
Device Manager - IDE ATA/ATAPI - Secondary IDE Channel - Properties - Advanced Settings
Changing Transfer Mode from 'DMA If Available' to 'PIO Only' caused the drive to immediately spring into action and read discs of all types. However, I'm not happy with that so will fiddle further. PIO mode is processor intensive whereas DMA mode uses the disk controller to transfer data to memory without lugging the proc.
So without looking I am guessing that the difference between Safe Mode and Normal Mode is that Normal Mode tries to use DMA first whereas Safe Mode just uses PIO to be safe. My hard drives are happy chugging along in DMA mode so I'm sure the X52P should too.
Hope this information is useful to anyone else having difficulty reading discs. -
Hello people! I have problems with my mobo , my mobo is :

Now i have updated my bios to the 1.9 version, the latest available, before that, the mobo would not accept double sided DDR1, and after the update the problem persists, and i think one of the ram slots is not working properly , beacause it won't accept DDR1 single or double sided.
Does the latest bios-update contain previous versions?
Please help me , i want to upgrade my RAM and i can't find single sided memorys anywhere . Thank you in advance.

MSI 651 Combo / MS6769 Problem with Temperature
Hi. I´m having some troubles with my mb, since 2 weeks ago. Suddenly, it starts to appear that cpu temperature go 70 º C (158 º F), and i hadn´t do anything. I changed the cooler, and put some new grease, and nothing happen. Then i searched in this forum, and i found a message simmilar, that said something about upgrade bios, and thas what i recently do (WS6769 v1.0 originally, then V1.3, then V1.2). But nothing...
What should i do? buy another mb? I don´t want to.
Thanks.
ClaudioWell, i´m pretty sure that it is the mother board, because, i already changed all what´s possible to change: processor, RAM, hd, power supply, processor.
Din: I don´t know what´s "corecenter". I already upgraded BIOS (to v1.2 that supuestly fix my problem), and put thermal paste (grease? in spanish "pasta disipadora") between CPU cooler and CPU. And i do change the processor (i put a p4 1,8GHz), with other FAN processor (CPU cooler), and the same temperature.
Danny:Those details you ask me:
In a label on the power supply (lVoltage MAXAmpere): +5V 30A, +3.3V 20A, +12V 15A, -12V 0.8A, -5V 0.5A, +5Vsb 2.5A.
It is a Maxpower 300 Watts ATX, model PX300.
On BIOS PC Health: Sys Temp: 18ºC/66ºF, CPU Temp 66ºC/150ºF (up to 70ºC), CPU Fan speed 2909 RPM, Vcore 1.68V, 3.3V 3.26V, +5V 5.10V, +12V 12.03V, -12V -12.19V, VBAT(V) 3.26V, 5Vsb(V) 5.14V.
I have a Celeron 1,8 GHz, socket 478, a MSI 651 Combo MS6769 Motheboard, with nothing else. Hd Maxtor 30Gb, Rewriter MSI 52x24x52.
The problem: From one day to another, it wasn´t load XP. It resets itself after a few seconds (about 5 secs). On the BIOS PC Health section, i actived the CPU Temperature beep on "too much degrees" (i don´t remember the exact name, but that´s the idea). And that´s how i realize that the temperature is the problem. I think it is how the motherboard inform the temperature, and it is a nominal temperature, not real. If it´s real, i already had a burnt processor.
Anything else that can help to find a solution for me?
Very thanks.

MSI 651M L : all games keep crashing
Hi all ! I couldn't find someone with the same trouble in this forums, so i hope someone can help me.
I have the MSI 651M L mainboard (with onboard SiS VGA) + P4 2.4B Ghz + 512 Mo RAM. I'm running Win2000 with DirectX 8.1 is installed, and also the latest VGA and AGP drivers from the MSI sites.
The problem is that every game i tried keeps on crashing ! After a few minutes playing, either the games stops without warning and the Win2000 desktop is back, or even the computer shut down and reboot !
I have no idea what i should do. I hoped that the latest drivers and latest game update would solve the problem but it doesn't.
Any idea ? Thanks for helping !I was NOT KNOCKING THE FACT THAT YOU ARE USING ONBOARD VIDIO! I was just stating that MOST of the GAMMING ENGINES TODAY NEED HUGE AMOUNTS OF HIGH SPEED MEMORY TO EVEN LOAD! You did not say WHICH GAMES YOU ARE TRYING TO RUN. And what I mean by them needing HIGH SPEED MEM. Is the type that is on a AGP CARD. The mem on the CARD IS HIGH SPEED even compared to the BEST mem ON A MO-BO. Most cards today use DDR that is RUNNING AT 400+MB/sec X 2 on a 256 BIT MEM CONTROLER to get the FRAMERATES they NEED to RUN MOST OF TODAYS GAMES. It is just FACT that ON-BOARD GRAPHICS CHIPS DO NOT HAVE THE BUFFER TO EVEN LOAD A GAME, LET ALONE PLAY IT. And I am NOT saying you HAVE to go out and get a $500 US CARD. But if you want to be able to play MORE THAN SOLITARE OR PAC-MANYOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO INVEST IN A CARD THAT IS AT LEAST DIRECT X 8 COMPATIBLE. AND you CAN get one for UNDER $100 US!.. ONBOARD VIDIO IS STILL AT THE POINT WHERE YOU CAN'T DO MUCH MORE THAN 2-D APPS. THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE.. Unless you go and GET A NVIDIA NFORCE BASED BOARD!! And even then your games will be crippled...Sean REILLY8785

I recently tried installing MSI's KM2M Combo-L (MS-6738) motherboard in a HP Pavilion 7909 PC but NOTHING happens!
The green light on the PSU is on, but when i press the ON button nothing happens. I suspect the PSU might not be supplying enough power (label on the unit says Output -124W) or could the motherboard be fried.

Last week I bought a KM2M-combo board, an AMD XP 2200 cpu + cooler and 256mb ddr pc400 MDT memory. When I installed it and pressed the power button it didn't boot, I only heard a soft "siren sound" coming from a speaker on the board itself (no display on monitor, no fans spinning). I used both power connectors (the big one, and the small, square shaped one) and used the onboard video output.
I've tried switching the ddr memory to another socket and used SD-ram. I switched PSU's, with these stats:
300W
+12V/15a
+6V/30a
+3.3V/20a
No succes, so I dismounted the board and pulled off all cables, to set it at a minimum (motherboard, cpu+fan, memory and the PSU with above stats). I reseated the CPU and tried using an AGP video card, in stead of the onboard video; same problem.
I've come to a dead end here. Any suggestions? The ram says: MDT DDR, 256mb PC400 CL2.5 (single-sided). It'll probably be PC3200 memory. But would this matter? Even if it's faster memory than the PC2100 the motherboard supports, wouldn't it just work below it's max speed (in this case at PC2100)?
I also used an old piece of APASS PC100 64mb SD-RAM memory (removed the DDR first of course), I experienced the same problem: it didn't power on.
So I used a piece of memory which is too fast, and one which is slow :P
