MSI-6730 SIS655 Bios question?

I recently purchased the MSI6730-SIS655 mobo
I set the cpu/clock setting to auto, when it boots
it says ",1.2mhz".
If I try to set them manually here are the options
under the multiplier settings.
H/W Trap
H1.0x
H2.0x
H3.0x
H4.0x
H5.0x
H6.0x
H7.0x
H8.0x
H9.0x
I0.0x
I1.0x
I2.0x
I3.0x
I4.0x
I5.0x
0.0x
Are these normal?  I was expecting to see:
1.0x
2.0x
thru like 26.0x
I flash the BIOS, but still got same result.
I have a P4 2.4
Thanks for any help.
Mike
I am about to take it back, but thought I try here first.

If you can return it that would be the best choice.  That mobo has a lot of problems, just look at all the posts.  Not all MSI fault.  Other brands with that same SIS chip set have similar problems.  The problem you are having looks like they left out the multipliers in the bios because all production intel cpu are locked so there is no use for them.  The unlocked cpu like you have are so rare it is hard to tell which boards have multipliers (hit or miss).  I think you would have better chance with intel chip set based boards but am not sure.  If you are looking for a high end board the canterwood chip set looks real good.

  • Msi 290X Gaming Bios question?

I just got a used 290X Gaming for $350 off Amazon. Do the 290X boards usually already come with a UEFI bios or will I have to request it?
    Thanks....

The 4G Gamings Bios switch is at the top of the card near the external connectors, the uefi mode bios is the "2" position on the switch, which is toward the rear/power connectors position. Its a pretty tiny switch so make sure your careful and have a good light.

None of that is a bios version. We need a link to a copy of your vbios saved to file and uploaded to a file hoster to check if there is a newer version. If not allowed to link yet add a break to the link so it is masked being a link.

Others reported that too when using the same card. If unlocking won't work (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<) contact MSi about it as there seems to be an issue: >>How to contact MSI.<<

UEFI is aGOP compliant vbios that allows to use secureboot/fastboot (Windows 8/8.1). If not using UEFI booting it doesn't matter which you use. Older mainboards with UEFI but not being GOP compliant on the other hand won't work with a GOP vbios and only the legacy vbios allows to use the card.

  • VGA Bios questions...

My VGA card is MSI FX5600-TD256.
    Here are my questions:
1)Which is the latest Bios version for my card? My current version is 4.31.20.39.00. Is there a newer one? Searching through the web I found another version including this text in the read me file:
    Quote
    MSI GeForce FX BIOS
Name     : GeForce FX 5600 BIOS
    Version  : 4.31.20.69.00    Ultra : No
2)Is it worth updating the bios? (I have restart problems probably caused by graphics card...)
3)Which is the proccess I have to follow to update it? (Just copy the .rom file in a disk and boot from that disk??)
4)Why in MSI site there are no VGA Bios files?
5)How do I back up my current VGA bios version?
    Thanks in advance...

If MSI live Update finds no BIOS upgrade then there is no BIOS upgrade available. Even if there is one available, I don't recommend updating VGA BIOS unless there is a known documented issue relating to your problem. As far as I know there is no issue currently. I have not come across this issue in these forums either.
I don't have any answers to your restart problem since you did not provide any details of this restart problem. I cannot guarantee I would even if you did, but do so anyway.
I never update VGA BIOS's so I can't help you on backing up your current VGA BIOS. Someone else will have to step in for that.
The MSI site doesn't archive VGA BIOS files for the public. MSI only updates the original VGA BIOS from nVidia in circumstances such as when they decide to use a different RAM package than specified from nVidia spec. Oftentimes I see users reporting that MSI Live Update hosed their VGA BIOS after an update and in a few circumstances I have been able to request the original BIOS file.
Again, it's not worth updating the VGA BIOS as they get it right the first time and they hardly ever deviate from the original nVidia BIOS unless a certain RAM package is used for say an OEM version of the card or a performance version where they may use a faster package etc.
I recommend looking elsewhere for your restart problem.

  • MSI 6730 655HT & FX NVIDIA CARDS

Just looking for some feedback for other MSI 6730 655 owners regarding the operation of mid to high end Nvidia FX series cards @ 8X AGP, etc.  My TI-4400 works like a champ in this board with the 44.03 Det drivers, but I did try an ATI 9800 non-pro card and it did not fare well.
I am looking to obtain a FX 5900 Ultra series card, a 128MB version.  Anyone running an Ultra w/256MB on this board, if so how does it run?
    Its all good;)
    P4 - 3.06/1GB of PC 2700 CAS 2.5 dual channel config.
    BIOS Version 3.10
    PC Power & Cooling 350W P/S
    Creative Audigy 2
    XP-Home

The 5200 is the problem not MSI.
The 5200 is the MX class card of today, so yes, you made a poor choice in the class of card. Thinking that MSI products work better with each other seems logical in theory but it is naive in nature. The same applies with any manufacturer.
You basically stepped sideways instead of forward in other words.
It may even be configuration issues with the system you are using it on. I noticed that on the KT6, you are using DDR 400 and an AMD XP2000+, I do know that on the nvidia chipset, you have to run the memory and the CPU with the same ratio 1:1 or you wil have a performance loss, even if your RAM is rated higher, but I think it is ok on the VIA board.
BIOS settings, OS configuration, driver optimization/version & monitor used can all impact gaming on a wide variety of hardware, so it's really hard to pin it down to any one thing. I can tell you it's not MSI's fault as far as hardware goes. I would consider downloading the latest drivers from nVidia here --> nVidia Drivers
    Bottom line the 5200 class is a weak card...the GF4 TI4200 performs better...way better.

  • 845 E-Max Bios Question

Can anyone help me with this one, I have an 845 E-Max mobo and for a while my boot up would take a while because of the USB devices, and then MSI relaesed a BIOS fix that took care of that problem, and it did, after I flashed my Bios my boot sequence was quick as ever and have had no problems since. However I recently re-formated (
    Thanks

yes I agree about not flashing the Bios over and over again, but was jsut curious to see what it would do, it's how I learn things, and if it breaks then I know not too do that again in the future. As to your question, I have a powered USB hub that has a printer connected to it and sometimes a web cam but the web cam is not an issue as it is never really plugged all the time, but the powered USB is. The only change that I have made that I just thought of is the power USB is now connected through my monitor and then the monitor usb acts as a hub as well. So the Monitor is connected to the computer for the USB power, then the USB hub is connected through the monitor. Then the neck bone is connected to the shoulder bone and the shouldler oh wait...I'm getting off track here. Ummm....let me try something, I think I may have just answered my own problem here....BRB

  • MSI B75IA-E33 - BIOS 17.6

    MSI B75IA-E33 - BIOS 17.6
Unable to download the above BIOS version from the US, EU or Asian download locations on the product support download page..
Release date says 30th Oct 2013.
Is there a reason this BIOS is unavailable and when will it be available for download ?.

Thinks its an error, Beta .H64 was released on 11/2013 says 10/2013 for H60 which would be the mass production release of this bios.
I attached .h64 for you since I assume you are having problems.
You may flash with the forum flash tool option 1, run the .bat from pure dos, or manual flash.
    Syntax:
fpt -f [name of bios] -savemac

  • Msi nx 600gt bios

i need msi nx 6600gt bios urgently  the card is 128 mb version non vivo  please also give me some guide lines on bios flashing

Well, there you are: MSI 6600GT-TD 128
But if the crappy picture appeared without modding bios before the card is probably dead or overheating! So the bios will most certainly not help at all.
Get latest driver, check temps then report back.

  • MSI K9VGM-V, BIOS changelogs?

Would someone be so kind and please explain where i could find the changelogs for the MSI K9VGM-V BIOS, also where i can download them.
most important is to find the changelogs to further track down a possible solution.
the url: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260 doesnt really help me at all.
"Live Update" and "Live Update 3" is not an option.

    Hello and welcome!
Solution to what problem? BIOS updating should not be the first option. Also please supply a list of your hardware, including the PSU.
From googling a little I find the latest update to be 1.7. Doubt there are new updates. What do you currently have?
