MSI 760GM-P23 - No video signal

Hey, I moved my gaming setup from my old Corona case to my new Cooler Master HAF 912 PLUS case, and connected everything like it was before, but now i can't get any video signal.
My Gaming setup is:
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23
CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.6 Ghz
RAM: 2x2GB Kingston 1333 MHz Dual Channel
PSU: Cooler Master GX550
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 TI

Remove the board from the case again and test it outside the case on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration. If it works again, then you know that you must have created some sort of short-circuit problem while installing everything in the new case.
Such things happen a lot.

I just got the MSI 760gm-P23 motherboard in the mail after the one i had before it (exact same model) died to my beliefs. So the problem is after i have everything hooked up and I turn it on I wait for it to post and nothing ever happens, the screen remains black while the pc seems to be running. [MSI 760GM-P23 (FX)]High Pitched Noise near the CPU or from the CPU itself?

I just built this rig 3 weeks ago and I decided to update my BIOS because it's not compatible with Spec Ops: The Line, the game worked but the mobo/cpu started making these high pitched noise. I'm pretty sure it's not coming from the PSU because it at the bottom. The sound is not consistent
but it's really annoying when I hear it, do I need replace it or is there a way to get rid of it?

In most cases such noises are the effect of resonance caused by a PSU that does not provide clean power (not able to properly filter the noise in the signals, especially under rapidly changing power demand conditions).

MSI 760GM-P23 doesn't boot

Like the title says. I go almost directly to the boot menu. There I can only choose the optical drive with the windows 7 disk in it. But when I press enter it says: no bootable device, Press any key to go back. Really hope you can help me

Built my rig today and I'm having the same problem. The hard drive and BDR player show up in the Bios. When I boot the system it says "please select the boot device." The only option is CD/DVD, which has the windows 7 disc inside. When I press enter it says "No bootable device, press any key to go back" I can't get any further than that.
I tried a number of HDD's and DVD Drives, with the same unsuccessful results. I could use some assistance if anyone's nailed the source of this problem.

MSI 760GM-P23 (fx) bios upgrade issue

Hello every body
I just bought a gamer PC from an computer supplier.
Is has the following spec.
AMD FX 4170 / 4.2 GHz Processor - AM3+
MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) - Micro-ATX 3000 AM3+
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Kingston HyperX (1X8GB)
Nvidia GTX650 (2GB)
Kingston SSDNow - 2.5″ SATA-600 120GB
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 - 3.5″ SATA-600 1TB
Cooler Master Elite 430 - ATX Sort
Cooler Master GX Lite 600W - 120 mm
22x DVD/RW DL Sort SATA
I had Windows 7 and all drivers installed and unit was working fine. I then decided to use the MSI Live Updater to update all drivers etc.
In this process the bios was updated to v.17.13 and before the update the unit was running v.H.A
After bios update had finished updating in Windows, i rebooted the system and then i have not been able to boot to Windows or Windows install 7 since.

I have tried to downgrade the bios, and i dont get any error when trying to do so, but after rebooting the system again, i see that the bios has NOT been downgraded.
Can somebody tell me what might be the issue?
I personally think it is the BIOS chip it self, that was up by the update and now is somehow looked and faulty.

Sounds like Live Update just claimed another casualty. Unless another forum user can come up with some more suggestions, it is most likely RMA time or a pc shop in your area that has an SPI flash programming device should be able to restore the BIOS chip for you.

No Audio on MSI 760GM-P23 (FX)

I just recently build a new computer using MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) running on Windows 7 Home Premium. I was able to get everything to work except for the on-board audio. The Realtek High Definition Audio always has "Not plugged in" status even if its rear audio jack is connected. I would like to know what is wrong with the on-board audio. Is there a disable setting somewhere for the on-board audio, because I can't get it to work even after downloading and installing the latest audio driver from MSI website.
Also, I can't test the front audio jacks, because I used my old mid-tower case, which its audio connector seems to be incompatible with the pins of JAUD1, but I doubt not connecting JAUD1 won't cause the rear audio jack not to work.

Oh, sorry, XFM. I completely missed your reply. Too much things are going on. It seems that I was having problem focusing.

I think when you say "audio control panel", you are referring to "Realtek HD Audio Manager", correct? Since I wasn't able to get a single sound to work before, I don't have any idea how to use that audio manager. But after playing around with it, it seems that the sound card is set to Digital since the only visual jack ports on the right side that aren't grayed out is Digital. The analog jack ports are completely grayed out.

Are you talking about the pin layout of JAUD1? I am not very familiar with audio much, so I don't understand what you are saying. Nonetheless, I tried putting in jumpers and removing them. Both doesn't seem to make a difference except noticing an input jack detection to be plugged in and plugged out the next. For what port, I have no idea, so I removed the jumper now.
If it helps, I can plug in the front audio input panel if I know which connector goes in which pin. The connector MIC IN and MIC BIAS are the one that throws me off, which is why I ended up not connecting any. Here are all the pins I have on my old tower case:
- L OUT
- L IN
- R OUT
- R IN
- MIC IN
- MIC BIAS
- GND

Unexpected reboots - MSI 760GM-P23

Hi,
I've just purchased a brand new gaming PC with the following specs:
- Amd Athlon X3 450 3.20 Ghz
- MB MSI 760GM-P23
- Club3d Radeon HD 7770
- Onboard - 5.1 HD surround
- 8GB Intern memory 1333Mhz
- 500GB HDD
- Onboard power supply Corsair CX 430M
OS: Win 7 professional 64 bit
Issue: When I'm playing a game (Assassin's Creed 2,3, Battflefield 3, etc) - all games which should run smoothly on this box -
after 3-4 hours I get an unexpected reboot. Have updated all graphics drivers and BIOS but still the problem persists.
There's no problem with power issue, have tried it on another electricity group which didn't solve the problem.
At the moment I'm thinking that the temperature might be the culprit. Have left the box open yesterday and placed a
ventilator next to it and I could play all day without a reboot.
CPU ventilator is working normally. Ventilator on the Graphics card is running on 20%, will try to increase that percentage
to see if it brings anything.
Does anyone has seen this issue before or can anyone give me some tips what might be the issue here ? Once: again: this is a brand
new Gaming-PC !

The issue can have different sources like:
Overheating
PSU problem
Memory issues [typically BSOD or lockup, but sometimes can cause unexpected reboots too]

BsoD on MSI 760Gm P23 Fx(clock interrupt was not received on a secondary proces)

If i try to run some higher end games like battlefield 2 i'll just get this BsoD saying:
"A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval"

I've elsewhere of other systems with this problem fixing it with a bios update, but as far as i'm aware i have the current recommended bios for my MB/CPU combo. also my bios should be at their default settings since they were installed. i don't recall tweaking them at all

that interrupt is a CPU clock instability I'm guessing that your CPU is auto boosting its clocks! you will need to access BIOS and turn off the Turbo Boost!
then give it a retest and see if it keeps doing the A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval thing as your board has a max TDP of 95W and under basic frequancy its right at that level and the turbo may be over stressing the power delivery (under turbo that CPU will pull over 100W or more)!

MSI GX 700X no video signal

I have a MSI GX 700X and it crashed - no video signal (LCD or monitor output), no sound (beep or whatever), no HDD activity... just the fan spinning...
Any suggestions how to identify the problem?
If is the video board (8600M), can I change it with something newer (like 9800M)? Is there a compatibility list?

There probably won't be a compatibility list as MSI doesn't recommend users upgrade the graphics card in a notebook. I had a problem with a notebook recently where it crashed and wouldn't post again. Upon examining around one of the RAM slots I found some corrosion causing a short; I cleaned away the corrosion and the notebook was booting fine again. I'm not saying you have the same problem but just showing it as an example that many things can cause it not to post.

BFG 7800GS OC and MSI 6702E problem, no video signal after post

Okay this problem has me stumped and the techs at BFG are thinking there is a conflict problem with my mobo and this card.
Heres the case:
I got 1 - BFG 7800GS/OC and I installed it in my MSI 6702E (K8T Neo2 F/FIR). The system runs its POST fine and it gets to the OS selection screen. Right after that (where it should load windows) the screen goes black and the screen acts like its looking for a signal on its digital or analog feeds (a small window appears on my screen indicating signal on which port and for me its on the digital).
This is what I've tried so far:
1) I unistalled NVIDA drivers
2) Tried booting to safe mode
3) I bought an Antec SmartPower 2.0 PSU 500W (see http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=26500 for specs)
4) repeated steps 1 and 2 with new PSU
5) Updated to 9.3 BIOS
6) Confirmed VIA drivers version is latest (5.10a)
7) Got another BFG7800GS OC and repeated steps 1 and 2
8) Bought another PSU its a BFG 650W (see http://www.bfgtech.com/power_supply_650W.html for specs)
9) repeated steps 1 and 2 with 1st and 2nd 7800GS
I have tested the cards in another AGP system and the cards work perfectly. I've talked to the BFG tech support and they feel their could be a conflict with the mobo, but I'm at a loss to find any info on that in these foums.
Note that both PSUs have 12v rails that are rated combined >20 Amps

I can't boot into safe mode, normal mode, vga mode. The computer only POSTs and then gives me the OS selection, which I then choose and thats it.... black screen. No sound, no video then eventually my screen goes into power saving mode. I don't even get the windows logo screen.
My previous system worked great minus the declineing game performances. I'm simply replacing the softmodded PNY 6800 to this new BFG 7800 GS. I know the video card working is not the issue since I had it working perfectly in another PC. So no this is not a new build.
Yeah so the deal on those 2- 256 MB DDR 400 ram sticks is that there is no visable brand name. There is a sticker on it indicating its stats and a little logo of some company I don't recognize. The RAM sticks themselves have a silver colored heat spreader, but I don't think that has anything to do with the situation. The RAM in this computer is top notch and its been stable for over a year.
I'm really at a loss here on what the problem might be, but I have to imagine there is some issue going on with the AGP bus. I've tried messing with the BIOS settings and setting fast writes to off, AGP to 4x, aperature to 256 mb then back down to 32 mb. All those settings result in the same symptoms.
Man this is really perplexing since it seems others have this same board wih this card running fine. Since I can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue.

HELP: MSI 760GM P23

Just finished a build for my sister....but im having a problem. Once it get's past the MSI screen it ask's me which bootable device I want to choose, the only one being the dvd rom. Though once I choose it....it says no bootable device found press any key to continue. ANY IDEA's?

check the connection to the HDD that it is correctly connected! also is the drive a SATA2 or SATA3 HDD? could you tell us its make and model?
as the machine starts enter BIOS by pressing DELETE and set up the boot order there!
once the boot order is set you need to install an OS onto the drive so place a disk for your chosen Operating System into the DVD drive and start to install it.

MSI 760GM-P23, how do you choose an automatic boot device

This is driving me nuts:
-Bios 17.9
-16GB of ram
-AMD athalon xII 250
-3 sata drives (same results with no sata and only booting off usb, or if i set the sata controller to raid or ahci)
-Logitech Wiress keyboard/mouse with a usb dongle
Most bios's let you set a boot order in the bios, but i dont see any option for this. Everytime I boot if i press nothing it goes to the Terabyte TB boot menu that says press any key to enter.. I press any key and nothing ever happens. I eventually get the no bootable device available and have to reset.(even if i have a bootable usb drive/hard drive connected)
Everytime I boot I have to press F11, and select my boot device.. how do I set a permanent order for this?

760GM-P23 FX - no video signal

Good afternoon,
I put together a computer with the following specs:
- cpu: AMD Athlon 2 x4 645
- motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 FX (AM3+ socket) with bios A7641 AM3H00
- memory: 1x Corsair 4GB DDR3-1333
- no video card, was going to use the onboard one
- PSU: Trust 370W (+3.3V/14A, +5V/30A, +12V/15A, -12V/0.8A, +5V/2A)
When I turn it on, the screen gets no signal. Also there are no POST sounds or beeps. I searched the forums and other people with a similar problem had an outdated BIOS, but my CPU should be supported by my BIOS version.
A different guess I had was maybe my PSU is low power, but my reseller said it ought to be enough. I couldn't find any references as to what the motherboard would need for power.
Do any of you have an idea what the problem could be?

I did connect all the power cables including the 4-pin CPU power plug. I reseated the CPU several times, with screws loosened as well as fastened and I applied fresh cooling paste every time. I might try another go with the motherboard outside the case on an insulating plate. Nonetheless I think it should be either the CPU or the motherboard that's failing. As I don't think I did anything that shouldn't have worked, I'll probably return them to the store and let them figure out what's wrong.
I think you're probably right about the CPU, as the motherboard is acting as it should, turning on power, lights and beeping if I remove the RAM as suggested by the next post:

I reset the BIOS by shorting the jumper, I'll try removing the battery. As for the RAM, I removed the RAM stick, but starting the setup without RAM actually DID make sound, so I figured that isn't the problem. As said above, I'll probably return the motherboard and CPU and see if this is a warranty/transport damage situation.

I purchased a GTX 460 EVGA 1.0 gb video card.
I also own an DELL XPS 710 gaming computer.
When I plug the GTX 460 into the XPS it works fine - When I plug it into the MSI it will not show up in the device manager or show even the boot screen.
I can use the onboard video card just fine.
I have a secondary power supply(Juicebox) that I have installed specifically to power the video card. So it's not a lack of power to the video card.
I have updated my Bios to:
Brand American Megatrends Inc.
Version   V17.5
Date   12/13/2011
and also Live Update shows H.50 as the MB BIOS version
Any ideas?

Perhaps you need to find a single rail psu? There are 2 psu's available for the xps a 750 and a 1k watt both have 12 v single rail as best i can tell.

The PSU was the issue (as is the common issue with just about everyone that comes to this forum)
I purchased a Coolermaster 500W Single Rail PSU and it worked perfectly as soon as I plugged it in.
The Juice box I was using above was a 350W single rail but just wasn't enough even if it was dedicated solely to the Video Card.
Thanks all for your help - I truly appreciate the time you took to point me in the right direction.
Pro-Tip to the new guys looking at this - Single Rail vs Dual Rail makes a HUGE Difference. Check your power ratings with the MFG of your Video card.

N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC No Video signal at install

I am having the Same Problem...
I received my custom built Maingear Shift pc with no issue other that they sent it with a PNY GTX660ti installed instead of the Msi GTX660ti PE that I specifically ordered. So they sent me the correct gpu under a RMA, the Msi N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC came to me 3 days ago. I replaced the (working) PNY 660card with the Msi 660card and No Video Signal. Every attempt to reseat or troubleshoot this has ended with still no signal and an apparent 'DOA' card. I may have to RMA this one thru Maingear Support and have them send another... just wanted you to know your not alone with this issue

Well, I expected the card to work outta the box. I am not a 'techy' and have no idea what your talking about, and the warnings for vbios flash make me uncomfortable. That may sound funny to you because in your experience it's probably a 'piece of cake'. But, regardless, I know my field of expertise and it has nothing to do with computers. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help and if I didn't have a working pny660 card I would probably force myself to do what your asking, but right now I feel more comfortable waiting on the RMA at the moment (unless you send me more specific step by step 'dummy' flash instructions then what I read on your nvflash download page).
