Msi 770-C45 problem. not posting

Dear MSI,
i have got exact same problem as in https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=129732.0
when i start computer cpu, gpu, psu everything works but nothing shows up on monitor. it's not gpu problem. i tried everything, no result. what's more interesting, when i switch off power supply and switch it back again, computer starts automatically. i thought it was because of power button, but no. any ideas? thanks!
-mobo: msi 770-C45
-cpu: AMD Phenom2 x3
-ram:  mushkin ddr3
-psu: OCZ 600 MXSP

Do you also have a vga? What means Mushkin ddr3? Number of sticks? Mushkin Model? Exact cpu model name?
Also we won't read through that old thread so describe for yourself. As you are saying dear MSI let me remind you that this is a Users-to-Users Forum so you are not talking to MSI.

Hello,I just bought and built my new PC but it won't boot, the fans and the LED on the motherboard will turn on but nothing else happens, no beeping noise and the display gets no signal and the reset and power buttons nor the LEDs won't work. And when I plug my 4 pin connector to the motherboard it won't start at all.
    My PC:
    Amd Phenom II x4 955 3.2 gh
    MSI 770 c45
    Kingston ValueRAM 2GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit
    HIS Radeon HD4850
    Samsung 500GB SATA-II 7200 rpm 16MB SpinPoint F3
    Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze 520W
I've searched the other posts, but I've already done that and it still doesn't work. And I think my PSU is more than capable to deliver the power for this system.

It did work outside of the case, my display turned on and I was too lazy to plug the PCIx connector to the graphic card and I started installing the mainboard back to the case, and now I get the same black screen with or without the PCIx connector plugged. But now I can start the PC with the 4 pin connector in, all the 4 blue LEDs on the motherboard are on and the power LED on the case is on too now. And I can turn off the PC by holding the power button.
When mounting the board to the PC case take attention to this one marked with red:
Motherboard Grounding to case causing No Post
Test the motherboard outside of the case to verify that the motherboard is not shorting to the case and causing a problem
         •    With only the CPU and heat sink, memory, and video card (or onboard video) connected to the motherboard, place the motherboard on a non-conductive surface and retest the motherboard
         •    Check the case mounting standoffs to verify that they are lining up correctly with the mounting holes on the motherboard.

  • MSI 770-C45 DDR3 1600 Problems

    Hi people,
Sorry if this is a common problem but did look through the forum but couldnt quite find a problem like mine.
I have followed custom pc computer build for a gaming rig and have had hang ups randomly which allow me to do nothing but switch off system.
To cut a long story short i have tried everything to fix this but now it seems to be running ok as i have changed settings for ram to 9-9-9-24 and timing to 2T.
I have also set the volts up to 1.77 (or nearby) but i am wondering if this is correct thing to do. I am stress testing it now with prime95 and hoping these setting are correct.
    M/B=msi 770-c45
Mem=corsair dominator ddr3 1600 (2 sticks in same colour port which is blue)
    Proc=AMD athlon II 2 pro

If the system is stable, then dont change anything.
An AMD-cpu does NOT support 1600MHz -- that is, the memory controller can handle 1066MHz or so. If you set the memory frequency higher, then you are overclocking the system which may result in freezing or other system problems. By losening timings a bit (9-9-9-24 2T) you solved it. Now, keep on testing. If the lot stays stable, then don't change anything else.
Also, use CPU-Z to see what timings/frequency-combinations your memory can handle.

  • MSI 770 c45 audio driver install problem

    Good day,
I have built a system consisting of
    MSI 770 c45 mb
    Athlon II 245
    4 gigs ram markvision
1000 gig (storage) and 320 (os) hitachi hd
    9400 gt video card
    media card reader
    dvd burner (liteon)
    generic case and power supply
the problem I am getting is that I have installed Windows xp with sp3 slipstreamed and I am getting problems installing the audio drivers from either the cdrom that came with the mb or from msi website. Lan & system drivers are installed.
    I have upgraded the bios
I have booted up with Ubuntu 9 live cd and I can get sound. which means the audio section of the mb is ok.
I have tried to install the driver in safe mode and still no luck.
Help!......... I have no idea what to try next.

  • MSI 770-C45 power problem

Hi. I have a problem with my MSI 770-C45. When i turn on my computer, nothing happens. On motherboard only 1LED is ON.
    CPU: AMD Athlon X2 240
    MB: MSI 770-C45
    PSU: Corsair VS450
    COOLER: Fera PRO
    GPU: GeForce 7300GT
    RAM: Kingston 4GB and 2x2GB
All fans are working. When i turn it on, i can't turn it off (power button) .
    What is problem?
Sorry for my English, but i'm from Poland.

remove the RAM and reinstall it as miss seated RAM is common to happen (press them down on both corners at the same time till both catches on each DIMM slot click into place)!
also have you connected the 4 pin CPU power connector?

  • MSI 770-C45 with TV turner card problem

My problem is that  it will freeze up after I start the TV turner program.  I have tried two different TV turner cards, both are of PCI-E 1X interface.  Both TV turner works fine in other motherboard of 780G chipset (Vista or Window 7).  Currently I am using Mygica 8557 in a 64 bit Windows 7 environment, the computer will freeze 30 seconds  after the TV software (TotalMedia) start . However, I can ran 3DMark2006 without any problem.  Before using Mygica 8557, I use another TV turner PE186Q , the case is even worse, the computer will freeze during driver installation (Vista 32bit) .  But the same card work fine with another brand 790GX motherboard.
I would suspect it is the IRQ problem but since there is no adjustment option for PCI-E resouces in BIOS, there is nothing I can do.
Did anyone have the same problem like mine ?
My config is as follow :
    Phenom II 545
    MSI 770-C45
    G. Skill DDR3-1333 2G x 2
    WD 320G hard disk
    ATI 2600XT

    Thanks for all the advice.
Tried with 1 stick and the system was alot more stable, no BSOD's or any kind of freezing.  I ran prime95 overnight with 1 stick and all was fine, if I insert another stick the system is still stable but I get an error in prime95 after a few minutes.

Re-test the each stick alone. [You may have defective stick]
If each one is stable at his own, before fill all 4 DIMM's:
    * Leave Memory timings to Auto
    * Ensure 2T is used
    * Drop memory freq. to 1066
    * Apply memory voltage recommended by memory vendor

Why did you buy a 3 channel memory RAM kit made to be used on an Intel X58 chipset MB and then stick it in an AMD system that has 2 channel memory?
Yes, I was thinking this as well.  Also, PSU is insufficient for system.

  • MSI 770-C45 - Windows Install stuck on 'system is starting windows'

    Hello,
I am trying to get a machine setup, everything seems to be booting fine and nothing wrong hardware wise.  When I attempt to install Windows XP Pro SP1 or Windows 7 Pro, I don't get to the 'select partition' step.  It gets stuck on 'system is starting windows' each time.
I have flashed the bios to the latest (1.4) and it didn't help it either.  When looking online I just find too many individual problems and answers to this issue.  I am at work now so when I get home I will update with more info as well as try a few more troubleshooting steps.

As a note, I am troubleshooting a friends computer that he was setting up.  Further troubleshooting steps by me:
Fredrik, I was unable to find the speed/memory handling option in the BIOs to change it down to UDMA2.
I don't have a spare set of DDR3 Ram to test that out.  Have a spare PSU to test with but haven't done that yet.
Switched out the DVD Drive to a Lite-On IT Corp. Model LH-52C1P DVD burner and it got stuck on 'Setup is loading files (Windows Executive)'
Attempted to switch out the IDE Cable for the DVD Drive and found I couldn't put a new one into the Motherboard.
Seems two pins (one over the other on the far left side) are bent just a little out of place and are loose.  Looks like I might need to exchange the board for a new one by the looks of it.

  • MSI 770-C45 Gameport compatibility

    The problem:
I have an MSI 770-C45 mainboard and want to use the gameport on an Ensoniq ES1370. I can't get it to work in any way. I think the cause may be the mainboard reserving hardware address 201 for its own purposes (at least Windows XP tells me so, range 0x201 - 0x201 conflicts with "Motherboard resources" twice). Am I correct on this? Is there any way to get the gameport to work?

That thing must be more than 10 years old and drivers are probably no good for XP. Creative took over the company so you would need to check with them if there are updated drivers.
      http://us.store.creative.com/
It works flawlessly under XP (Professional) on another computer with an AMD processor, though that computer is less recent . Think Athlon 2600+, GeForce FX5200 and so on.

Why do you need the gameport? If its for a game controller, why not treat yourself to a modern USB one? As Henry says, I've not seen any devices that connect to a gameport for 10 years or so now...
There is that; it may not be worth the effort to get the old gameport gamepad working.

    Yes, there are converters.

    hi guys!!!
well... yesterday i go to the shop and buy a whole system by parts. i get home to setup everything and i get nothing.
the system turns on with the first led on and that´s all. fans are working and the lights of my case too.
    msi 770-c45
    amd athlon II X4 640
    asus eah5770
4gb kit ocz ddr3 pc3-10666 gold (low voltage)
the psu it's a generic one of "500W".
i asked in the shop about this, and they told me that i shouldn't have any problem with that PSU.
i tried everything already. 1 ram stick in every slot. without video card. without ram, without cpu... out of the case.
nothing changes. always the first led is on. the fans too and no beeps at all. all power cables connected.
i´ve been reading for hours and i just cant find any solution. so any help will be very apprecciated.
    greetings from germany.

Well, that is what the shop says.  It does not mean anything.  After all it is a theory, nothing more.  What you need to do is an actual test.
yeah, i know that. it will be an issue if the generic PSU doesn't have enough power. but to don't post at all??? even a beep without the ram or anything on it. (it should be)
my first thougth was to test another PSU but i can't, unless i go and buy a new one.
i had read a lot about this MB and this same issue. but i cant find a why or a solution.

  • MSI 770-c45 wakeup on lan

I saw in bios that board have wake up event setup for lan, mouse, keyboard usb, and etc but I did not make anything to work. When I shutdown computer, board just switch off everything, no power on mouse, keyboard, lan on switch goes off.
Does msi 770-c45 is working with wakeup events or those options in bios are there just decoration?!?
    Thanks for help!
P.S. before MSI I had Gigabyte board witch worked fine wol

    Thanks for trying to help!
I did not reinstall windows, I have win7 and winxp. Win7 have all drivers by default so switching board was really easy there. Anyway I think its not win problem, as I said when I shutdown computer, board just switch off everything, no power on mouse, keyboard, lan led on switch goes off. To wake up board on event from device you need power, so wake up on keyboard and mouse also does not work, no power, I switch them on in bios of course.
Long time ago boards had jumper which you needed to put if you wanted wake up on keyboard or mouse, without jumper no power like in my case. With out led ON on my switch wol will not work that's for sure. Its really looking that board is missing power management for wakeup events, but I cant believe that is true as today every board have wol by default. Old cheap boards which I have in my company have wol, every single board so far which I saw have wol, MSI did not implemented in MSI 770-C45 ?!?
    Regarding S3 I dont know.
This could be important to, mouse is on USB and keyboard is on PS2, so there is no power on USB or on PS2?!? Strange!

i got my rma'd m/b back. it works great. had to place 1 2gb stick in dimm 3 to get it to post though. the manual says to use 1 stick in dimm 1 to ensure successful post. obviously this is incorrect. overclocks great btw... my phenom II 955 b.e. is running @ 3.8 ghz and still idles 38 celsius 55 full load

  • MSI 770-C45 Constant BSOD

    Hi,
About a month ago I updated my video card drivers, bios and chip set drivers to their latest versions. After doing this my system has become increasingly more unstable giving me BSOD with PFN_LIST_CORRUPT and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT reasons. I am also getting a lot of application crashes (Explorer, Display Device, Direct Show) and freezes.
The BSOD's seem to disappear sometimes for a few days (usually after I've gone into safe mode to check something) and then after a cold boot come back again.
My first thought was that this is due to the display driver as the system can be completely stable when running from a DVI connection and then gives these BSOD's when the HDMI connection with HDMI audio is connected. However after lots of good support from ATI/AMD they are pointing the finger at other hardware (memory/motherboard).
I have run memtest86+ against my OCZ Gold 12800 Dual Channel however it shows no errors. I checked my timings and found them to be off: had 7-7-7-16 in BIOS and 6-6-6-15 in CPUID (anyone know why these would be different). So I changed the settings to force 8-8-8 (could not change TRAS so it is still showing as 16 rather than 24). I also read a few other forum posts that boosted the voltage to the NB and DRAM... therefore I set the voltage to the NB CPU at 1.6 (max before red) and DRAM at 1.63 (max before red). I also changed the spread spectrum to disabled and forced the 1T/2T to 2T. However after all these changes, the system has become slightly more stable (would run a few benchmarks) but would then crash again while doing something random (playing a game or using notepad) with another BSOD with MEMORY MANAGEMENT error.
Anyone know what settings I should be using for my OCZ3G16002G? Could the fact that the memory states 1.7 volts and I can only set 1.63? Could it be that I cannot seem to change the TRAS and it seems to auto set it to 16? Any other ideas?
I'm at a loss with this system, any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
I have a 500 watt Coolermaster 80+ PSU. The memory is 2 DIMMS of OCZ3G16002G (by OCZ) rated for 8-8-8-24. I have no overclocking running... if fact this is a media system and thus I am running AMD cool and quiet.
I am running Win 7 64 bit with latest updates.
As further information, tonight I tried to change the memory timings again, but can only set the CAS, TRCD and TRP. I don't seem to be able to change the TRAS (states auto in bios and defaults to 16). When running benchmarks on the system tonight, the crashes appear less frequent but happen after the system is placed under more stress. I have also started to see two new BSOD messages: "Bad Pool Headers" and "Bad Pool Caller".
